Additionally, people from Syria, Georgia, Bolivia, Egypt, Lebanon, Malaysia, Venezuela, Armenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan can use their passport to travel anywhere in Iran without a visa for 15-90 days, depending on their nationality.

HOW MUCH DOES A TOURIST VISA TO VISIT IRAN COST?

The visa stamp fee from the Iranian government ranges from €0 – €120, depending on nationality. At Friendly Iran, we only charge €15 to accurately file all of the paperwork for you.

WHICH NATIONALITIES NEED A FULL-TIME GUIDE IN IRAN?​

Any tourists entering Iran on an American, Canadian, or British passport need to have a full-time guide while they are in Iran. Learn more here.

HOW CAN I GET RELIABLE TRAVEL INSURANCE IN IRAN AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

So easy! We’ll help you get reliable travel insurance for only €15 – €30. It’s better to let us know at least a few days ahead of your trip to Iran, but if you forget, we can still help you get travel insurance after you arrive.

WHAT DOES THE TRAVEL INSURANCE COVER?

After you buy travel insurance through Friendly Iran, you can turn to your tour guide or one of our employees for assistance in making an insurance claim. Coverage includes:

• Medical expenses & hospitalization in Iran; Exceptions are aesthetic treatments, chronic ailments, or preexisting conditions, except in emergency cases and hospitalization of more than 24 hours (Deductible €25. Limit: €10,000).
• Emergency dental care; restricted to treatment of pain, infection, and removal of affected teeth (Deductible: €25. Limit: €200).
• Loss of registered luggage; this clause cannot be combined with other clauses (Limit: €150).
• Legal Assistance (Limit: €250).
• Loss of passport, driver’s license, or national identification card while in Iran (Limit: €200).
• Transport or repatriation in case of illness or accident (Limit: €5,500).
• Emergency return home following death of a close family member or serious illnesses (Coverage: Actual Expenses).
• Repatriation of a family member who’s traveling with the insured individual (Coverage: Actual Expenses).
• Repatriation of mortal remains (Coverage: Actual Expenses).

IS TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL IN IRAN?

While it’s not required, it is recommended. Although some of the embassies ask for travel insurance while stamping the Iran tourist visa.

PCR TEST NOT REQUIRED

All Iranian Passengers over 12 years of age can travel to Iran by a Covid vaccination certificate of two dose (14 days must have passed from second doses), OR by providing a negative PCR test within 72 Hours before flight.

Passengers over 12 years of age with non-Iranian citizenship must have a Covid vaccination certificate in English and 14 days must have passed since their last injection. from last dose of vaccine should not be more than nine months otherwise they need to have booster jab and again from booster jab should be passed 14 days.

All foreign passengers (non-Iranian citizenship) need to be fully vaccinated and show the certificate on your departure, (please be noted you won’t be able to get on board if you are not fully vaccinated)

Fully Vaccinated passenger need to download NHS APP and show their proof of vaccination at the airport.

The ideal time for traveling to Iran is typically from April to May and from September to early November. However, due to Iran’s vastness, it’s possible to travel there at any time of the year. For example, during July and August, the west and northwest regions like Tabriz, Kurdistan, Kermanshah, or Hamedan are preferable due to cooler weather. These areas can be mixed with classic routes for a varied experience. The months of November to February are best for visiting southern Iran, known for its natural beauty and tourist attractions. Destinations like Qeshm, Kish, Chabahar, and Bushehr are considered must-see places during this period.

The official currency of Iran is the Iranian Rial (IRR). However, in everyday transactions, Iranians commonly use the term ‘Toman’, where 1 Toman equals 10 Rials. Prices are typically quoted in Tomans. For ease of communication, the term ‘thousand’ is often omitted. For example, a price quoted as 50 Tomans is generally understood to be 50,000 Tomans, translating to 500,000 Rials. This informal method of pricing is a standard practice in Iran, essential for visitors to understand to avoid confusion in transactions.

In Iran, credit cards and international debit cards such as MasterCard or Visa are not supported. However, it is easy to exchange money at the airport, banks, and exchange offices in the cities, or you can choose to carry your money in cash. For those who find carrying cash difficult or insecure,  some companies provide local debit cards.

It’s important to note that some souvenir shops may accept MasterCard , so it could be beneficial to bring your card along when traveling to Iran.

Visitors often experience a warm and welcoming attitude from the Iranian people, renowned for their hospitality. However, as with traveling to any country, it’s advisable to be mindful of your belongings and money to prevent petty crimes like pickpocketing. Normal safety precautions, as you would exercise in any travel destination, are recommended to ensure a pleasant and secure visit.

We offer Iranian visa services for all nationalities including Americans. US, UK and Canadian citizens are required to be accompanied by a national guide.

Note : since March 2014 British passport holders require either to join a package tour or have a national guide for their entire trip in Iran in order to obtain visa. This rule also applies for Canadian and US passport holders.

Note: As of January 2016, US policy (subject to change) has stated that anyone wishing to travel to or via the USA is required to apply for a US visa (rather than an ESTA) if they have travelled to Iran since March 2011. The process is fairly straightforward. It is just something you will need to be aware of, if you have future plans to travel to or via the US. The US visa when issued is normally valid for 10 years so you will not need to reapply for a further visa for subsequent visits during that 10 year period.

Note : Due to the Iranian new year holidays, the visa application will be accepted until 2nd March so those travellers who are travelling in April must submit the visa application by 2nd March.

The fee for providing a visa code for US, Canadian, UK passport holders is £120 per passport and for other nationalities is £60 per passport.

Please contact us for the method of payment and to transfer the appropriate amount to our account.

A brief CV is required as additional information for Americans, Canadian and British nationals, it takes 4-6 weeks for the visa code to be issued.

All other nationalities, it normally takes 1-2 weeks to obtain the Visa Authorization Number from Iran, and we will inform you as soon as we receive it.

We can also apply for a visa code and send the visa approval number to any other Iranian consulate in the world so you can stamp your passport.

The Iranian Consulate in London is now open and issues visa.

All UK passports holders visa applicants who apply visa for Iran for the first time must have fingertips print at the consulate and submit the following documents to the Consulate Section of the Iranian Embassy in London:

We offer a visa service which can help with most part of the process but still the clients have to go for fingerprints it takes less than one hour and it is based on appointment to avoid the queue.

The cost of our visa service is £65 per passport.

Apart from UK nationals, other nationalities do not require to have fingerprints or go in person.

Once UK nationals have the fingerprints at the consulate they do not require to go in person for the second trip. We can offer our visa service for the visa stamp process.

How long is the Visa Authorization Number valid? The Visa Authorization Number is valid for three months from the date of issue.

How long is the Iranian Embassy Visa stamp valid for? The visa stamp is valid for entry to Iran for three months from the date of issue.

How long may I stay in Iran? The maximum stay with an Iranian Visa is one month. A few days before your first visa expires, you can apply in person to the authorities in Iran main cities to extend your Visa for up to two more weeks

How long will it take for the Embassy to stamp my passport? For standard visa it normally takes one week, your passport will be return to you by post. For the same day visa, your passport will be delivered to you by hand on the same day.

I am travelling overland to Iran. Can I collect my visa in one of the countries on my route? We can send your visa number to any Iranian Embassy in the world, so you can have your passport stamped there.

I am travelling overland, and intend to enter to Iran more than once on my route. Can I apply for a double entry Visa? On your request our Iranian Visa Services are able to organize a double entry Visa, which allows you to enter to Iran twice within six months .  In this case please complete the attached form to apply for a Authorization Number. Please note that sometimes this rule changes and double entry visa can not be issued

Transit Visa At the moment transit visa can not be issued for Overland travelers passing through Iran. A visa authorization number is required. The application procedure for a Transit Visa is as the same as for a Tourist Visa.
