Kelela is a singer and songwriter hailing from Washington D.C, United States who was born in 1983. Since her debut in 2010 she has released one mixtape along with one EP, becoming one of the most exciting acts in alternative R&B in the process.

There are very few genres which Kelela Mizanekristos haven't tried her hand at singing. She's sang jazz standards in coffee shops, sang indie rock with the band Dizzy Spells and even tried her hand at progressive metal after fell in with Animals As Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi. However, after relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2010, she found her niche singing an esoteric spin on modern day R&B. After she moved to L.A, one of the key contacts she made was with the group Teengirl Fantasy, and while singing on their debut album “Tracer”, she met one of the execs from their label Fade To Mind. After striking up a friendship with him, he introduced her to the sounds of Fade To Mind's sister imprint Night Slugs, a London based label specialising in the most interesting and out their sounds in U.K dance music.

Inspired by what she was hearing coming out of the U.K, she started incorporating influences of it into her music, and in October 2013, she released her debut mixtape “Cut 4 Me” for free onto the internet. It ended being one of the most acclaimed independent releases of the year, hailed by both critics and contemporaries like Solange Knowles and Björk. Ever since then, she's remained one of the most exciting R&B artists to come along in a very long time. With a new EP coming up in the form of “Hallucinogen”, and a debut studio album coming afterwards, Kelela is an artist with the world at her feet. For that, she comes highly recommended.

Live reviews

Beyonce and Bjork are already singing 31 year old American singer songwriter Kelela's' praises. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, she released her debut 'Cut For Me' mixtape in 2013. The phrase "future R&B" get's thrown around a lot of late, with the rise of female singer's Banks and fka Twigs, but Kelela is certainly giving her contemporaries a run for their money and her sound fits the term perfectly.

Kelela also happens to put on one of the most engaging live shows I've ever seen. Performing to a relatively small crowd of music savvy fans during her Nottingham debut, she wastes no time in showing off how strong her vocals are. Clearly influenced by female singers like Aliyah, her soulful tones shine throughout the set. Dressed in a black jumpsuit she glides effortlessly across the stage. Showcasing tracks from her blog-favorite debut 'Cut 4 Me' which she gave away for free online, are given life, one after the other. The boundary pushing bass-y production of the Night Slugs label are clearly evident during highlights, 'Guns and Synths', 'Cut 4 Me' and 'Fade To Black' with each word sung back from the baying crowd. 'Melba's Call', a collaboration with Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok sounds equally as brilliant. The Washington born songstress commands the stage, putting real emotion into each track and later performs alongside Hudson Mohawke during his set.

It's impossible to take your eyes off of her. your review of Kelela here...

Such a beautiful and genuine person with a perfect voice. Good vibes all around..no hostile pushing or anything, just a bunch of people having a good time at her show. Her backing band and singers were just as fantastic as she was, and I could tell they were all enjoying the music. Her set was LONG-more Kelela for us. She did almost all the songs off Take Me Apart as well as goodies from Cut 4 Me and Hallucinogen. Probably one of the best concerts I've been to!

natalie-zhang’s profile image

Absolutely superb. Her voice is angelic and brings raw emotional and ethereal energy to the crowd. The set was paced very well - only wished she could have performed for longer, though she did perform for the standard 90 minutes.

drewsted’s profile image

She was amazing! She sounds exactly like her records, which I really value in a artist. Even her backround singers are bomb! The concert was colorful, and entertaining. She's truly a beautiful person and singer.

Kelela Raven album cover

“I started this process from the feeling of isolation and alienation I’ve always had as a black femme in dance music, despite its black origins,” said Kelela.

“ RAVEN is my first break taken in the dark, an affirmation of black femme perspective in the midst of systemic erasure and the sound of our vulnerability turned into power.”

Kelela has shared several songs from RAVEN , starting with its lead single “ Washed Away .”

Released in September, the soothing tune was said to have been recorded “in the midst of uncertainty.” She added , “A lot of my first takes made it to the final.”

“I really didn’t think I’d hit on anything that would resonate out the gate, but I can see now that it was my willingness to try that paved the way for self-belief and renewal. Hope this makes you feel the same,” Kelela wrote on Instagram.

Kelela followed with three additional songs, including “ Happy Ending ” and “ On the Run .” She co-produced the latter track with Yo van Lenz, Kaytranada and Bambii. Asmara also contributed on the production.

Kelela Is ‘On the Run’ in New Video and Upcoming Tour

  • By Tomás Mier

Kelela is sharing a new taste of her upcoming album Raven with the release of the visuals for her song “On the Run,” as she announced a set of tour dates in the new year.

The video follows the vocalist sitting in the passenger seat with Bambii, her co-producer, in the driver’s seat as Kelela rolls a joint and the two begin to cruise. The video splices the car clips as the two women sing along to the lyrics, with close-up shots of Kelela’s face.

The dream sequence visual takes a sexy turn as the pair of women move things to the backseat and remove their clothing as Kelela sings in the chorus, “Open up, babe, to the sun/Open up, babe, we ain’t done/Come out and touch the rays.”

Her new project is set to be supported by several tour dates across North America and a show in London next March and April.

Kelela’s ‘Raven’: All The Info, Including The Release Date, Tracklist, And More

Adrian Spinelli

Kelela exploded onto the electro R&B scene with her proper 2017 debut, Take Me Apart . Her music is nothing short of intergalactic pop, forged in dance music styles with Kelela as the fierce central figure that you can’t turn away from. Her follow-up, Raven, is officially on deck for 2023 and all of the early dispatches from Kelela so far have been heavenly.

Out on February 10th, 2023 on Warp Records, Raven already has three singles out. The sultry album opener “Washed Away,” the drum and bass pop banger “Happy Ending,” and the afrobeat-inflected “ On The Run .” The “Happy Ending” video celebrates NYC’s underground ballroom dance floor culture .

Kelela has said that the album is an expression of her self-renewal and shared a reflective statement about it.

“I started this process from the feeling of isolation and alienation I’ve always had as a black femme in dance music, despite its black origins,” Kelela said. “ Raven is my first breath taken in the dark, an affirmation of black femme perspective in the midst of systemic erasure and the sound of our vulnerability turned to power.”

This definitely promises to be one of 2023’s early favorites. Check out the album artwork and tracklist for Raven below.

The NPR Music Review

The meditative, ambient calm of kelela's 'raven'.

Vrinda Jagota

Kelela's emotional remove paired with the ambiguity created by her vocal performance shifts this album from narrative-telling to mood-building.

Since releasing her debut mixtape, CUT 4 ME , in 2013, the singer Kelela has always innovated at the crossroads of left-field R&B and forward-thinking electronic music. After six years away, she returns to a pop-music landscape that is focused on honoring the Black queer artists who invented house music as a refuge and established the clubs where the music was played as safe havens, spaces to celebrate, grieve and build community all at once. Beyoncé's Renaissance , Dua Saleh's Crossover and Shygirl's work with Arca and the late SOPHIE are just some examples of contemporary music existing at the intersection Kelela inhabits. Events like Hood Rave and Papi Juice similarly continue to celebrate the dancefloor as a place of freedom and safety for queer people of color. In this context, Kelela is less a pioneer than an elder now, someone with nothing to prove, who is making music for and about herself —and her communities.

On her excellent 2017 debut album, Take Me Apart , Kelela charted the tumultuous, non-linear process of falling out of love and opening yourself up to a new relationship. While the perspective was firmly hers, the sense of self Kelela presented was relational. She sought to explicate who she was and what she wanted in these partnerships, and how that self can shift and morph depending on the situation. But on her follow-up, Raven , the emotional chaos that defined Take Me Apart has been replaced with a meditative calmness. While she still longs for love and experiences the ebb and flow of romantic desire, Kelela now sings with the perspective of someone observing things happen to her rather than someone consumed by feeling them. Sonically, the glitchy, futuristic beats that gave her work so much propulsion have been replaced with more diffuse, ambient and club mixes that flow into each other. If Kelela was taking herself apart before, she is now presenting a unified and independent version of herself.

Kelela actively maintains a sense of distance from the audience throughout the album. The first words she sings on opener "Washed Away" are "far away," her vocals dissolving across the droning synth like cotton candy on your tongue, and on album closer "Far Away," she repeats the words as a mantra, her gossamer falsetto once again evaporating across the mix. "Fooley" echoes the phrase over a foreboding mix of drums and synths. When she's not explicitly singing about feeling far away, Kelela is reflecting on the distance she feels from her lovers or her impulse to let go of situations that aren't working. This sense of detachedness doesn't feel like a lament so much as a balm. Rather than investing in situations or people who hurt her, Kelela finds solace and healing in solitude.

Though the album is the result of Kelela turning inwards and distancing herself from the world, there's still a sense of community behind these songs. She has always been aware that her hybrid music appeals to both Black and white audiences, but she wants Raven to resonate with Black queer listeners first and foremost. She spent much of 2019 creating a syllabus of texts by Black theorists like bell hooks, Kandis Williams and Octavia Butler and broke ties with business partners who weren't politically aligned with her. Though many of the lyrics on Raven came from improvisation, they are informed by this period of intensive study and boundary-setting, so they feel like free-associations from a mind centered and deeply focused on rejuvenation. On the title track, she sings, "A raven is reborn / They tried to break her / There's nothing here to mourn," asserting her independence and resilience as she reminds those who have wronged her not to performatively "tell me that I'm strong." And on "Holier," she disengages with people who are trying to put her down, instead choosing to float away and "go where they hold me down."

Kelela's guide for breaking up with men

It's Been a Minute

Kelela's guide for breaking up with men.

What's more, Kelela was able to take the time and space she needed to understand herself because she knew that her fans would value and celebrate her even with distance. It's an ethos that is based in queerness and vulnerability for her, that is , "rooted in being part of a club where everybody wears their hearts on their sleeves ... a type of queer commentary where you are seen even in the margins." To be seen even when you're hiding from most of the world, to feel safe and supported even in your absence and your solitude — that is the gift of the community that Kelela fosters and prioritizes.

On all of these tracks, Kelela's words stretch and contort into gorgeous peaks and valleys of melody. Inspired by secondhand stories of navigating a second language — the way her mother and her friends tried to imprecisely recreate English as children in Ethiopia — Kelela used much of the lyricism on the album as a way to relay sounds and textures rather than just syntax. Her emotional remove paired with the ambiguity created by her vocal performance shifts this album from narrative-telling to mood-building. Rather than relaying the specifics of a conversation with someone, these songs capture the feeling of mist on your skin during a late night walk or bath water easing away the tension of the day.

Water recurs across Raven . On one hand, it is a textural element: the references to mist, rain and floating evoke a feeling of dewy dissociation that mirrors the ambient sound bath established throughout the album. Water is also a surface under which Kelela submerges herself, as well as a means of expressing pleasure. She has said that her goal with this album is to create a work that reminds Black listeners of their expansiveness. Fittingly, water is a substance that cannot be contained. It slips through your fingers and evaporates into the air around you. It carves canyons and gently cleanses the body and soul. In linking her perspective shift on this album to water, Kelela presents herself as capable of both the ocean's grandiosity and the fog's vaporous omnipresence.

On the album cover, it's unclear if Kelela is emerging, reborn from the water surrounding her or sinking into it, using it to isolate herself from the world around her. Perhaps it's both at once: In pulling away, nurturing herself, and ultimately offering a self defined by her boundaries, she has re-emerged more authentically, more conscientiously than ever before.

Kelela is a star. She knows it, and so do her fans. For the audience in attendance for her Saturday night set at Thalia Hall, this combination of creative magnetism and adoration made for a pitch-perfect concert-going experience.

Fresh off the release of her latest full-length album, “Raven” (her second studio album and first in nearly six years), Kelela played a nearly nonstop, hourlong set to a sold-out crowd of fans who knew every word to every song and had no qualms about singing along to them throughout the night. It made for a more intimate experience, despite the size of Thalia Hall. Tickets for the show were snatched up within hours of going on sale.

The night began with a rendition of “Washed Away,” the opening track of “Raven.” Dressed in a simple, short black dress and flanked by a choreographed, multicolored light show, Kelela grabbed the audience’s attention, placing them within her unpretentious yet memorable environment.

Some people don’t need a lot going in. When you’re that cool, you can do what you want. The crowd will be devoted to you, and for good reason. “Washed Away,” a slow and emotive song, was a perfect palette cleanser for the evening, preparing audiences for an auditory experience that blends and glides across Kelela’s eclectic discography of soul-driven electronic music.

Fans looking for a visual spectacle of props and stage setups may feel disappointed when going to see Kelela’s show. However, those elements are not really the point. It became clear within the first few songs of her set — which included “Raven” tracks such as “Happy Ending” and “On the Run” — that Kelela was trying to create a specific vibe and environment within the beautiful walls of Thalia Hall.

Is it possible to create a dance floor, to create a dance community, at a live show? I certainly think so. Kelela’s live show was, more than anything, a spectacle of the senses . Her show was designed to get bodies moving, to get people dancing, to let the rapturous joy of a pure-hearted dance floor envelop her fans into a frenzy. With minimal audience interaction between tracks, the show soon turned into a vibe-heavy dance party. There was no need to break up the good feelings and the dance floor, keeping the groove moving from one song to the next.

“This is actually a dance party. This is a live dance party,” she spoke at one point about halfway through the show. “Y’all better be dancing.” Her voice echoed through the speakers after uttering the sentence, and the audience cheered. Songs like “Rewind” from her 2015 EP “Hallucinogen,” kept the energy high.

Longtime fans will be thrilled to hear some of the singer’s older tracks like “Go All Night” from her debut 2013 mixtape “Cut 4 Me,” also made the cut for this show. “I love playing here. Dance music,” she said, acknowledging the home city of house music, before transitioning into “Bank Head,” another “Cut 4 Me” track. The seamless blend of songs old and new in the set demonstrated Kelela’s keen ability to home in on a singular voice and sound for her music. Despite her growth — lyrically, vocally — her music still sounds uniquely her own.

Later, about 45 minutes into her set, she thanked the crowd for its support and patience, noting how this moment was different. Many artists who have returned to the stage post-pandemic restrictions have found a certain level of audience entitlement that has ruined shows both for the performer and their fans.

But that was not the case for Kelela’s live set. In fact, I would say Saturday night’s audience was the most delightful and respectful fan base of any live show, of any size, that I have seen since restrictions have been lifted.

Kelela fans supported the time she took to make this new collection of music rather than forcing or expecting something immediately. Her craftsmanship goes against the current standard of music which forces artists to create excessively, sometimes with middling results. But Kelela is not like that.

“I love y’all so much,” she said, before performing the recent single “Enough for Love.” “I want to thank you in a real way. There’s a patience and respect that I have experienced from my fans.”

The crowd went wild.

“It was never skipping over the person,” she acknowledged. And that sort of symbiotic relationship, rare for artists nowadays, ultimately makes for a more rewarding experience, both for listeners, at home or in the audience, and the performer alike.

Kelela’s RAVEN Tour Lands in Toronto

The term genre-defying is used in high frequency these days in music reporting. I am as guilty as any other writer although I pass myself due to the variety of artists I cover. Whether or not I am justified is unclear and in defence, the boundaries between genres are happily being pushed outward if not being pulled down brick by brick. As I did my perfunctory research on Kelela , the term popped up again and again. Having listened to her latest album, Raven , as a whole and repeatedly, I speak for all music writers by saying we stand firmly in this uncategorization.

Mentioning the album and artist to a friend, I described Kelela’s music as ‘moody alt-R & B with trip-hop and early aughts dance elements’. Pretension less often takes me over when chatting with friends about music than committing overwrought, overthought written statements as internet content. But, here we are. Given an opportunity to catch this unique artist, especially on her short and sold out tour before an inevitable wave of longer tours and larger shows become the norm, it felt impossible to say no.

Raven was released on February 10, 2023 ending a six year album drought for Kelela acolytes. So professed were the questions and calls for new material that they became memes. In fact, Kelela released a humorous video depicting the wide range of rumours about the artist’s whereabouts. Raven was almost complete back in January 2020, so fans’ calls may have been answered sooner barring ‘the thing’. Anticipation made the eventual release all the sweeter. 15 songs that bounce between genres, critics ‘raved’ about the album from the get. Leading into the Raven tour, in Toronto strains of the album’s opening, Washed Away , opened the show. As Kelela entered the stage from the wing, the audience roared. A brief few words about the audience, I don’t believe I’ve been at a show with as great an audience as the one out this night. No shock, they were dancing from note one and each that followed that opening DJ, Bobby Beethoven played. But the volume of cheers raised even higher once Kelela appeared. The phrase that entered my mind was Beatlesesque . The audience hung on each word of banter and at times, match the volume of Kelela’s voice in singalong. While the artist basked in these moments of adoration, it was clear that she possessed a unique connection with her crowd that seemed to surprise her the least.

Swaying to Washed Away , the set segued to Bluff from Kelela’s first album, Take Me Apart . The set leaned heavily on tracks from the new album however she took a moment to address the crowd, to paraphrase, she said whether had just heard her or had been following since the release of Bank Head (from her breakout 2013 mixtape, Cut 4 Me , we were all the same in this room. At mention of the song, she launched into it to an expected roar. Closing the set with Raven’s gorgeous Enough For Love , the singer took a brief break before returning with All The Way Down from her 2015 EP, Hallucinogen .

April 1st ends this leg of the Raven tour before crossing the Atlantic for shows in London, Paris and Berlin. More info here .

‘Is She Sure?’ How the Breeders Joined Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts Tour.

The ’90s alt-rock icons hit the Madison Square Garden stage for the first time Friday night, after the 21-year-old pop star invited them to join her on the road.

A woman in a buttoned-up jean jacket and black knit hat sits beside a woman in a dark top, a man in a sports jersey shirt and a woman in an orange plaid shirt.

Olivia Rodrigo remembers her life in two parts: before she heard the Breeders’ “Cannonball,” and after, she told the crowd at Madison Square Garden on Friday night, when her Guts World Tour arrived in New York.

And that is how the ’90s alt-rock idols came to play the New York arena for the first time last week, 31 years after that song from their platinum 1993 album, “Last Splash,” charted on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Rodrigo’s camp initially approached the Breeders in September about opening some dates on the tour supporting her second album, “Guts .” “My first reaction was, Wow, that seems kind of odd,” the band’s bassist, Josephine Wiggs, said in an interview. “But after I’d thought about it for a while, I thought, ‘That’s actually really genius.’”

Kim Deal, the singer-guitarist who leads the band with her twin sister, Kelley, said she was surprised when they got the invite. “I’d heard ‘Drivers License,’ and I liked that a lot,” she said, referring to Rodrigo’s breakout 2021 smash.

Kelley wondered if it might be a mistake. “I thought, ‘Is she sure? Do they really mean us?’”

But Rodrigo made her enthusiasm clear when the shows were confirmed, reaching out personally to share her excitement. “She texted each one of us individually,” Kelley recalled.

“And said, ‘Really happy to hear that you’re going to do this,’” Wiggs added. “Very classy.”

Aside from Kim, who played Madison Square Garden in 1992 when her earlier band, Pixies, opened for U2, no one in the group had ever performed at the venue before. Kim hadn’t been back since, and said she had no memory of that previous gig: “I usually remember the bad shows, so it’s a good thing that I really don’t remember that one.”

With the first date in the books, the Breeders spent part of Saturday afternoon glimpsing Rodrigo’s soundcheck — she was belting “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” to an empty arena — and then briefly chatting with her. “So easy to talk to!” Kim reported as the Breeders headed up to the stage to adjust their own amps and pedals. The lights were up; two men vacuumed the previous night’s pink and purple star-shaped confetti.

“How about we do a piece of ‘Cannonball,’ like when everything comes in?” Kim asked the band, which also includes the drummer Jim Macpherson. They had already tested the distorted ahh-ooohh-ahh vocalizations that open the song. Kim blew a whistle to emulate the record’s microphone feedback.

Rodrigo was born a decade after the release of “Cannonball,” but the 21-year-old heard it as a teenager and remembers “instantly falling in love with the Breeders,” she wrote in an email. “I thought Kim was the coolest girl in the world,” Rodrigo said. “I’m very inspired by them and everything they stand for. They are absolutely iconic, and playing these shows with them has been a surreal honor.” (The Breeders have joined the tour for four shows at the Garden that wrap on Tuesday, and four more at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles later this summer.)

Mischief, wryness, confidence and camaraderie feel encoded into the poised riffs and bass line of “Cannonball,” and it’s easy to imagine girls gently headbanging along to it for eternity. Rodrigo went louder and crunchier on “Guts,” long inspired by artists who are “not trying to recreate a version of rock music that guys make,” as she told The New York Times last year.

Soundcheck proceeded like a supercut. “Should we do half of ‘Do You Love Me Now’?” Kim asked before crashing the song open and letting its twin harmonies ring out. “A little piece of ‘Drivin’ on 9’?” signaling the aching country tune. “Should we throw in ‘Gigantic’?” Kim asked before unleashing the titanic anthem she co-wrote and sang as a member of Pixies. (She dedicated its “big, big love” to Rodrigo during the show.)

Earlier, the band sat in a green room processing its Guts experience so far. Kelley had been impressed by the emotional arc of Rodrigo’s songs the previous night. “I was texting somebody, ‘I’m so empowered right now!’” She later reached out to praise Rodrigo’s voice as “really special,” observing, “Her tone and control are spectacular!”

“She performs with a really good sense of humor,” Kim added.

Wiggs said she could hear some Breeders commonalties in a Rodrigo chord progression, while Macpherson detected a bit of the band in “Jealousy, Jealousy,” from her first album, “Sour.” “The bass riff was almost like a ‘Hag,’ ‘Hellbound’ -ish kind of thing,” he said.

The Breeders expressed shock at how young Rodrigo’s fans were, and the collective decibel of their screams on Friday night. “You’re going to be surprised by how loud it was,” Kelley said. Weren’t their own amps loud, too? “Not louder than 30,000 tweens,” she said.

Kim roasted her bandmates for withholding stage banter the night before. “Looking out at the sea of 7- and 8-year-olds, I had no idea what to say,” Wiggs said, deadpan. “I could just about manage to say something to people who are obviously teenagers. I was like, OK, maybe I’ll try to make eye contact with the dads.”

The Deal sisters are no strangers to parental accompaniment at gigs. “My dad used to have Ray Charles in his headphones, watching us play, when he drove us around in the r.v. with Nirvana,” Kim said, referring to the band’s 1992 tour with what was then the biggest band on Earth. “He’d have his cassette Walkman,” Kelley added. “He was a big supporter, but he’d heard us a million times.”

In Kurt Cobain’s liner notes to Nirvana’s 1992 compilation “Incesticide,” he detailed the recent life experiences that had meant the most to him since “becoming an untouchable boy genius,” including “playing with the Breeders” on the list. “Nirvana and Foo Fighters would really curate their opening bands, which is I think what Olivia is doing in a way, curating new music that she wants fans to get to know,” Kelley said.

Most of the young people watching from the front rows on Saturday were not familiar with the Breeders — who are all in their 50s and 60s — though there were exceptions. “My parents know who they are!” exclaimed an 18-year-old fan named Mack. “My dad said they had some jams back when he was younger. He didn’t know if I would like them, but I trust Olivia.”

Another fan, Elle, 16, was with her father, who saw the Breeders at Lollapalooza alongside Smashing Pumpkins and the Beastie Boys. “For me, this was really cool,” he said. “I don’t know the tour’s other openers as well, but I’ve loved the Breeders since ’94 when I saw them last.”

Rodrigo’s fans were decked out in sparkling skirts, purple bows and platform boots in honor of their heroine, who took the stage in a series of short, glittering skirts. The Breeders are known for more understated sartorial choices. Had they given any thought about to what to wear?

“I sent out a ‘help’ text to a friend of mine,” Kelley admitted. “I said, I’m trying to upgrade my look from my T-shirt and jeans that I typically wear, but staying in my comfort zone. He said, ‘I find glitter or sequins to always be the answer.’ I just waited for him to laugh or something. That was no help to me at all. So I went with a T-shirt and jeans.”

“Like she’s been dressing since seventh grade,” Kim said.

Tyler Childers sings and plays guitar.

On April 5, 2024, Tyler Childers kicked off his ‘Mule Pull Tour’ at San Diego’s Viejas Arena.

That night, the country superstar performed 22 songs; 19 with a full band and three on his own when he slowed things down with a brief mid-show acoustic set, according to Set List FM .

The following evening, Childers was back at it again in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum. This time, he played 25 songs, switching up the set list and mixing in new covers.

He continued to keep things fresh at his next two gigs as well proving that no two ‘Mule Pull’ shows are the same.

And if you want to see what Childers has up his sleeve when he comes to a venue near you — New Yorkers, he’s headlining at Madison Square Garden on May 29-30 and at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on July 3 — we found tickets for all remaining concerts on his tour schedule.

Some are shockingly cheap, too (especially considering he’s bringing along big name special guests S.G. Goodman ,  Shovels & Rope ,  Allison Russell ,  Sylvan Esso and Nathaniel Rateliff on select dates).

At the time of publication, our team found some tickets to see the “Lady May” singer live going for as low as $41 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $42 to $184 before fees.

Curious how much tickets cost for the Childers concert closest to you?

We’ve got everything you need to know and more about the ‘Mule Pull Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Tyler Childers 2024 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all remaining tour and festival dates as well as venues and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

On top of the tour, Childers will bring his stable o’ hits to a few fests.

Tyler Childers new music

On Sept. 8, 2023, Childers dropped his seventh album “Rustin’ In The Rain.”

The seven-track record showcases Childers country bona fides with his homespun Kentucky Southern drawl complete with fiddles, banjo and longing.

Standout songs include the heartbreaking “Phone Calls and Emails” and the gorgeously arranged “Luke 2:8-10.”

However, the true winner here is the sure-to-be slow dance classic “Space And Time.”

Want to check it out for yourself?

You can hear “Rustin’ In The Rain” in its entirety here .

You can't win the Masters on Thursday, but you can lose it, as the adage goes. Tiger Woods didn't lose it.

After heavy storms overnight delayed the Masters' start by two-and-a-half hours Thursday morning, Woods teed off at 3:54 p.m. ET and stood 1 under through 13 holes as play was suspended due to darkness, an encouraging start as he seeks his sixth green jacket – and a record 24th consecutive Masters made cut.

But Friday will be a different animal for Woods. The first round resumed at 7:50 a.m. ET, just over 12 hours from when play was suspended Thursday night. Woods will finish the final five holes of his first round, take a short break and then head out for his second round tee time at 10:18 ET. How will his body hold up with the short recovery time and 23 holes on Friday? That's the central question.

"The body is okay," Woods said Thursday night. "We've got some work to do yet tonight."

After undergoing ankle surgery following a WD during the third round of last year’s Masters, Woods returned to PGA TOUR competition at The Genesis Invitational in February, where he opened in 1-over 72 but withdrew during the second round due to flu-like symptoms. The Masters is Woods’ first start since withdrawing at The Genesis, and he said Tuesday that he still believes he can contend and win. That’s why he’s here, after all.

“If everything comes together, I think I can get one more,” said the five-time Masters winner on Tuesday.

His play so far validates that belief.

Woods started fast on Thursday with a birdie at the par-4 opening hole, his first Masters-opening birdie since 1999, and he remained steady as the conditions dried out in the afternoon. Woods, 48, made bogey at the par-3 fourth but responded with a two-putt birdie at the par-5 eighth, turning in 1-under 35. He made three straight crafty up-and-down pars on Nos. 10-12, then escaped the trees en route to par at the par-5 13th, his final hole of the day.

"The wind was all over the place," Woods said Thursday evening. "It was one of the most tricky days that I've ever been a part of. It was hard to get a beat not only on what direction it was going, but the intensity, and it kept switching all over the place, and then you had to – the timing was affecting putts on the greens. It was a very difficult day."

Woods entered the week on a streak of 23 consecutive made cuts at the Masters, sharing the all-time record with Fred Couples and Gary Player. He'll have a chance Friday to hold that record alone, but expected windy conditions (up to 34 mph) should offer a challenge for Woods and the field at large. Woods was tied for 17th, six back of leader Bryson DeChambeau, as play was halted for the evening. DeChambeau posted 7-under 65 earlier in the day, one clear of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler's 6-under 66.

Read below for a hole-by-hole look at Woods' opening round at Augusta National.

Hole 18 (par 4, 465 yards): Tiger has great rhythm with the driver, with another perfectly placed tee shot in the 18th fairway. It's a mighty encouraging sign as the first round finishes up and Woods readies for 18 more holes. It's a 287-yard drive. He has 171 yards into the closing par 4.

After Max Homa's approach got swallowed up by the wind and found the right greenside bunker, Woods plays a nearly identical shot. The wind impacted those shots much more than either player anticipated. Woods will need an up-and-down to finish even-par for the first round.

Nearly more short game magic for Woods! His bunker shot comes just inches from hitting the flagstick. Instead, it races by and Woods has more than he bargained for -- 16 feet for par. He gets the putt to the hole but doesn't play enough break. He closes with a bogey.

Woods finishes with an opening-round 73. That's a solid result given his lack of competitive reps, though Woods is surely disappointed after he was 1 under through 13 holes when play suspended Thursday night. He won't have much time to dwell on the finish. His second round tee time is scheduled for 10:18 a.m. ET. He has around 45 minutes to grab some food, keep the body loose and get ready for 18 more holes.

Woods shoots 1-over 73

Hole 17 (par 4, 440 yards): It's another low, fading bullet with the driver that finds the fairway. Woods is 3-for-3 in fairways hit this morning. That's a great sign. He's hit 77% of the fairways in this first round, slightly better than the field average.

With 158 yards into the green, Woods pulls 9-iron and plays the smart shot, leaving himself below the hole. He will have 23 feet for birdie. After a few shaky iron swings to start the morning, Woods has hit two solid ones with his tee shot on 16 and now this approach.

Woods leaves his birdie putt short. That's three putts left short in his opening four holes of the day. But it is another stress-free par. Those are always welcome at Augusta National, particularly on the 17th.

Woods even-par thru 17

Hole 16 (par 3, 170 yards): Woods pulls 7-iron after watching Jason Day put one in the water with the same club. The 82-time PGA TOUR winner doesn't make the same mistake. Woods safely lands it 20 feet past the pin and uses the slope to get it on the same plateau as the hole. He will have 20 feet for birdie.

It's a quick putt, meandering slightly left to right. Woods handles it with care but doesn't give it quite enough pace. That will be another par for Woods. He's 1-over since play resumed today but has made two relatively easy pars after that opening bogey.

Woods even-par thru 16

Hole 15 (par 5, 550 yards): Woods’ drive finds the fairway but it will be a lay-up with 273 yards remaining into the green. He does just that, leaving himself 70 yards. It's a tricky wedge shot on a severe downslope and Woods can't control the spin as the ball rolls off the back of the green. Woods' ball-striking has been iffy to start, but his touch is fully activated as he nearly holes the chip for birdie. He makes the comebacker for par.

It's a hole you'd like to make birdie, but Woods will take the par. He is clearly laboring this morning; the short turnaround time was likely going to be problematic. As the weather warms and Woods gets a few more swings, let's see how his body progresses.

Woods even-par thru 15

Hole 14 (par 4, 440 yards): Play resumed as scheduled at 7:50 a.m. ET. Woods plays his patented cut off the tee and finds the fairway. The 315-yard drive leaves him just 119 yards into the green, but Woods lays the sod over a wedge and comes up short of the green. That leaves Woods with a delicate chip, with the pin sitting on the top of a slope on the back of the green. Woods opts to hit a low spinner, but the ball releases out and Woods has 22 feet for par. The curling right-to-left putt come up just short. Woods makes bogey and drops a shot.

Woods even-par thru 14

Hole 13 (par 5, 545 yards): Woods plays a fade off the tee but overcooks it, as the ball sails into the collection of pine straw amidst a dense tree line right of the fairway. It means he can't go for the green, and he escapes the trees with a low punch shot that reaches the first cut just short of the fairway, leaving a 191-yard approach for his third shot.

Faced with a hanging lie and Rae's Creek closely guarding the green, Woods strikes a crisp iron shot that lands hole-high and stops on a dime, leaving a reasonable look from roughly 20 feet. The horn blows for darkness, allowing players to finish their current hole if they choose, as Woods walks to the green.

Woods opts to complete the hole; his right-to-left breaking birdie try pulls up a couple feet short. He makes his par to remain in red figures overnight. All in all, a promising start for the five-time Masters winner. It will be a marathon Friday as he eyes a record 24th consecutive made cut at Augusta National.

Woods 1-under thru 13

Hole 12 (par 3, 150 yards): As the twilight begins and the wind continues to gust, Woods pulls 7-iron and flies it over the green, a trend that has emerged with his mid-irons on this Thursday. The ball settles in the pine straw roughly 30 feet past the hole, but once again he displays a sublime short game with a softly played bump-and-run that trundles to 6 feet.

Woods drains the par putt, his third straight crafty par save as darkness approaches at Augusta National. He'll head to the par-5 13th tee.

Woods 1-under thru 12

Hole 11 (par 4, 520 yards): Woods has played this hole a cumulative 17 over across his career, but he has no such trouble on the tee shot Thursday, striping it down the fairway's left side as he begins Augusta National's famed Amen Corner. Faced with a lengthy second shot from 209 yards, he strikes it well with a long iron but the ball perhaps catches a gust of wind; it lands in the front fairway and settles some 80 feet short of the hole.

Woods' magnificent short game is on display once again, as he executes a high flop shot that lands softly and releases to tap-in range. He saves par, his second straight impressive up-and-down to begin the back nine. Darkness will approach soon; it appears he might only complete one more hole Thursday. Onward to the famed par-3 12th across Rae's Creek.

Woods 1-under thru 11

Hole 10 (par 4, 495 yards): Woods positions a fairway metal safely in the fairway's right side on the majestic downhill par 4, but he misses the green right with his second shot from 216 yards, leaving a slippery greenside bunker shot.

Ever a short-game magician, Woods has no troubles with his third shot from the bunker, playing a nifty splash shot that lands in the fairway cut and releases to leave a 4-foot uphill par putt. The patrons roar with deserving approval. He drains the par putt, dead center, to stay in red figures.

Woods 1-under thru 10

Hole 9 (par 4, 460 yards): Woods is finding a comfort zone off the tee, striping this drive 312 yards, perfectly positioned in the fairway's right side, leaving a good angle from 169 yards. He selects an 8-iron that tracks toward the hole, but the ball can't reach the back tier on which the hole is positioned; the ball lands on the ridge beween tiers and rolls back onto the green's middle tier, leaving a 33-foot birdie putt.

Woods' uphill birdie putt has solid pace but grinds to a halt 2 feet short. He cleans up his par to turn in 1-under 35, a promising start to the Masters. He stands T15 at the turn, six back of leader Bryson DeChambeau. He's two inside the current projected cut line of 1 over.

Woods' playing partner Max Homa turns in 3-under 32. Safe to say the group's vibes are high.

Woods 1-under thru 9

Hole 8 (par 5, 570 yards): Woods blisters driver down the right-center of the fairway, utilizing a high cut that puts him in position to reach the green in two. He does just that with a bold strike from 242 yards, the ball landing softly on the green's right collar to leave a 40-foot eagle putt.

Woods leaves his eagle try 5 feet short, but the birdie putt slides into the cup's right side. With his second birdie of the day, he's in red figures once again.

Woods 1-under thru 8

Hole 7 (par 4, 450 yards): Woods tugs a fairway metal just left of the fairway, the ball settling in the first cut but requiring a low punch to elude a dense grove of trees. He plays his 171-yard second shot accordingly, a low bullet that tracks toward the hole but can't clear a front greenside bunker.

Woods' bunker shot is a short-game master class, the ball landing some 10 feet short of the hole and releasing beautifully, leaving a 2-footer to save par. He has no trouble doing so.

Woods even-par thru 7

Hole 6 (par 3, 192 yards): Woods takes an aggressive line with a mid-iron; the ball tracks toward the hole's left side and lands roughly 15 feet short-right of the hole, but it catches the slope and feeds back onto the green's front portion, leaving a cross-country birdie try up a tier from 42 feet.

In what could be either a misread or a mis-hit, Woods' birdie putt misses short and right of the hole, leaving a knee-knocker for par. He has no trouble, though, draining the 5-footer for an adventurous two-putt par.

Woods even-par thru 6

Hole 5 (par 4, 495 yards): Woods pulls driver on the demanding par 4 and plays a feathery cut that splits the fairway's right-center portion. The five-time Masters winner hoists a mid-iron from 200 yards that lands softly on the green's proper level, offering a mid-range birdie try.

Woods' 16-foot birdie try has a good line but isn't struck hard enough, settling a couple feet short. He cleans up his par to remain level on the round.

Woods even-par thru 5

Hole 4 (par 3, 177 yards): Woods flushes an iron on Augusta National's first par 3; similar to his third shot on the par-5 second, the ball flies too far, settling in the second cut just beyond the green. He faces a slippery downhill chip, the green sloping away, and bumps the ball into the fringe on a line some 20 feet left of the hole; the ball releases onto the green and rolls well past, leaving a 25-foot par attempt from the front portion of the green's back section.

Woods' par putt is well judged, but the right-to-left bender just misses on the hole's right edge. He taps in for his first bogey of the week.

Woods even-par thru 4

Hole 3 (par 4, 350 yards): Woods settles in with the driver, playing a tight cut that eludes the short par 4's myriad fairway bunkers, the ball traveling 334 yards down the middle. From roughly 70 feet, he plays a bump-and-run second shot into the hill that releases just past the hole, leaving a 12-foot birdie try.

Woods can't convert the birdie, as he plays too much break on the left-to-right slider; the ball stays out on the left side. He taps in for a comfortable par, remaining in the Thursday red.

Woods 1-under thru 3

Hole 2 (par 5, 585 yards): Woods pulls driver but is unhappy with the swing immediately; he points to the left as the ball misses the fairway on the left side. The ball travels 319 yards, but it settles just inches from a tree's thick base, with 237 yards remaining to the hole. After some analysis and deliberation, he turns an iron upside-down and makes a left-handed swing, advancing the ball roughly 40 yards back into the fairway, enough to offer a clear angle for his third shot to the green.

Woods selects a 6-iron for his third shot from 190 yards; he stripes it but the ball flies too far, settling in the fairway cut beyond the green's back side. He plays a pitch-and-run with a mid-iron for his fourth, the ball not getting more than a few inches above surface level; it releases through the fringe and rolls to 5 feet. "Absolutely brilliant," said analyst Dottie Pepper. The slippery downhiller has some right-to-left movement, but he drips the par putt into the hole's left center with sublime pace. Crisis averted.

Woods 1-under thru 2

Hole 1 (par 4, 445 yards): Sporting a salmon shirt in his new Sun Day Red branding, Woods stripes a fairway metal with plenty of left-to-right movement, the ball starting down the left side but cutting back perfectly to the center of the fairway. He doesn't miss a beat on his second shot from 169 yards, striping a short iron to 8 feet. The patrons roar in approval.

Woods takes advantage of the early opportunity, as the right-to-left breaker curves into the center of the cup with perfect pace. Birdie to start. It's the first time since 1999 that he has carded birdie on his first hole of the Masters.
