Kylie Minogue (born 28th May 1968) is a globally renowned and beloved pop singer-songwriter from Melbourne, Australia, currently residing in London, UK, achieving success over a career spanning three decades.

Kylie Minogue first achieved fame in her role in the television soap opera, "Neighbours." She began her musical career in 1987, signing a contract with British songwriting trio Stock Aitken Waterman, after her first single "The Loco-Motion" was hugely successful, becoming the highest-selling single of the decade in Australia. "I Should Be So Lucky" was Kylie's breakout hit in 1988 and remains a pop classic.

In 1992 she left Stock Aitken Waterman, choosing to go it alone and establish herself as a performer in her own right. In 1994 she collaborated with Nick Cave on the song "Where the Wild Roses Grow" which garnered artistic credibility for Kylie, as she moved away from her image as the "girl next door" pop star. In 2000 she returned to success with the singles "Spinning Around" and "Can't Get You Out of My Head" which reached number one in over 40 countries. Through her album "Fever" (2001) she broke into the American market, which had before alluded her. This release led to achieving four ARIA airways as well as two Brit Awards for Best International Female Solo Artist and Best International Album.

Throughout her career, Kylie Minogue has developed and evolved her music to a more mature, dance orientated sound incorporating electronica, disco and R & B influences. Whilst attempting to establish herself as a more serious artist, she has always maintained a sense of joy and fun within her music, which has helped her become such a treasured star in Australia and her adopted home in the UK.

In the middle of a tour in 2005, Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer, which forced her to cancel the tour. Thankfully, she successfully combatted the disease, allowing her to continue producing brilliant music. Following her illness, Minogue became an important figure in raising awareness and support of health research as well as humanitarian issues around the world. Her contributions were acknowledged through an honorary doctorate degree from Anglia Ruskin University as well as being appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Kylie Minogue has featured as a judge on BBC One's talent competition, "The Voice" for the first season and the third season of Australia's version of the show. She also released her 12th studio album in March 2014, titled "Kiss Me Once" which reached number one in the Australian charts and number two in the UK.

Live reviews

Kylie puts on a proper pop show and gives you your money's worth. The sets (giant skulls! Pegasus!), the lights, the videos, the dancers, the costumes, and, of course, THE SHOES (thigh high cut-out Louboutins!) are all fabulous. In fact, Kylie’s shows are often like a mini version of Cirque du Soleil, with many of her dancers doubling as aerialists, and sets that would put most Broadway musicals to shame.

Ms. Minogue’s set lists are always impeccably balanced between the new material that is the reason for the tour, more recent hits, and timeless classics from back in the day. She often mixes things up with new song arrangements and medleys. And there is no doubt that Kylie is up there giving each song her all; no 'miming' here.

Kylie is the consummate showgirl, and (as one of my fellow Kylie fans put it so succinctly) she is always about love and connecting with her audience. It’s all about having a good time no matter your age, orientation, or other demographic info. The audiences/fans at Kylie shows are always a friendly bunch, and the atmosphere is nothing short of festive. Even if you attend a show solo, you certainly won’t feel alone.

I am Mario from Hamburg Germany. I went with my old friend Nico to see Kylie Minogue live! It was an amazing experience which I will cherish forever!

We were in the Golden Circle front row to the stage catwalk and had the chance to see Kylie just 1 ft away!!! She blew us and the whole audience away. She is a true professional and also natural pure live performer. From very close view you would never think this woman is 50 years old. Her look is stunning and her voice was amazing powerful and strong and her dance routines magnificent! She sang 60% of songs from her current album Golden and mixed it up great with her old hits back from the beginning to her big greatest hits for which we all love her! I will also attend her German shows in November in Munich, Berlin and my hometown Hamburg and I can’t wait to see her live again!

She brings so much joy fun and emotion to the stage and I always have a big smile on my face. She is the one and only true most wonderful and beautiful pop princess on earth! We’re not young, we’re not old we are GOLDEN! Love you Kylie always and forever! Your German Fan Mario xxx

Ok, I’ll start by saying I am a hardcore fan and I’d love a Kylie show no matter what. However, like many fans that know every song, sometimes we would like to hear some of the over played known songs replaced with new material or old/rare gems. On first sight of the setlist there was a mix, but sighs over The Locomotion, Kids, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, Love At First Sight being dusted off and sang again. But, I have to say, the tweaks, reworkings amd mash ups made them fresh and fit. While I would have loved to hear What Kind Of Fool, Word Is Out and the recent album track penned for the fans Sincerely Yours, Kylie has a tough job of pleasing casual fans, hardcore fans and putting on a fresh show. This, she has achieved. No feathers and space age costumes, but Kylie dazzled and looked amazing, more importantly; sounded fabulous. Still plenty of glitter and dancing from the backing dancers with Kylie free to focus on vocals and occasional moves or free styling. It’s a show not to missed and whether your first Kylie show or been there since day one, you’re in for a treat!

She is considered to be one of the most likeable live personalities with an incredible sense of humour, quick wit and ability to build connection with entire arenas.

A definitive pop star who has an impossible amount of hits has crafted one of the most fast paced and visually engaging live tours for latest album 'Kiss Me Once'. The selection of complex dance routines, lavish stage props and a near unnecessary level of costume changes is like a masterclass of what makes a world class diva.

The music selection is flawless with 'Into Your Arms', 'On a Night Like This', 'Wow' and 'Get Outta My Way' all being performed tonight. It is the encore of 'Into The Blue' where Kylie really showcases her vocal and demonstrates her heightened understanding of the pop genre which means she remains relevant nearly three decades after her first release.

Amazing show. Greatest hits and what a catalogue to choose from. Perfect set list. Personally I’m done with Kids and Especially For You, but they are crowd favourites, so it fits the audience of the Summer shows and more casual fans than the die hard fans that see and go to every show! I would love to see another anti tour for the fans. The lesser known tracks. Kylie will never beat the Fever and Aphrodite tour dramatics these days, but she still puts on a blooming good show. Put your glitter on, leave your troubles at the door and be prepared to dance your bottom off!

Fantastic performance with a mix off new songs from her latest golden album and her older hits. This wasn’t just a concert but a true stage show with plenty of dancing and costume changes. Kylie is absolutely stunning vocally and in appearance. Who would have thought she was old enough to be celebrating 30 years since her first single.

I would highly recommend seeing Kylie if you get a chance, just a shame we were up in the gods and not closer to the stage but that shows the interest in her that all the good tickets were snapped up so quickly

I had a really golden time! Couldn’t wait to see la Minogue again. It was my 11 time and my 2nd time in Manchester - which is all the time supposed to be a great audience. Now to Kylie and golden tour! Fantastic stage - this time she fills much better the catwalk as years ago, great setlist unfortunately 1-2 songs in my opinion where missing - and simple Kylie thru the last 30 years with a little touch of country! Loved it from the beginning! Go there and just enjoy the golden showgirl it might be here best show so far! Perfect

I have been a big fan of Kylie for many years now and have seen most of her concerts but the Golden Tour is by far her best. She sang songs from her new album and songs from the past but her studio 54 medley was out of this world. Absolutely fantastic.The venue in Frankfurt was small and gave a great personal experience. Kylie is truly a great artist and is always worth seeing in concert

I caught your Las Vegas show, and I must say — you leave it all out there on that stage.

I really do. I don’t think I’ve ever put this much energy into a show, which seems weird because Voltaire is a small space, so you might think, “This is going to be easier.” But it isn’t — because I’m in the eye of the storm and there’s nowhere to hide. The quick changes are at the speed of light.

The look of Voltaire matches your dreamy disco aesthetic. Were you involved in its conception?

When Derek [McLane, the space’s architect] showed me his plans on paper, I just thought, “This has got some of my DNA in it.” When it was finished, literally right before opening night, I sat in different parts of the venue and thought, “Can this be real?”

One of my favorite moments from the show was your rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” which turns into a massive love-in.

I know! Everyone’s got tears in their eyes, they’re swaying, they’re hugging. There’s a lot of human contact — a lot more than any other touring show I’ve done. It’s like the most glamorous house party you’ve ever been to.

Do you plan on extending the run past May?

That’s a good question. I want to do a world tour. It’s been a little while since I did a big show. [And]I could 100 percent see myself going back to Voltaire. It does feel like a home; part of me is there.

What is the secret to always staying ahead of pop music trends?

“Padam Padam” was a different kind of hit for you. Is it your biggest hit because of the viral aspect?

Possibly. It’s very hard to make the calculation. There were songs early in my career that seemed to [explode] like “Locomotion” or “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” If social media had been around then, would they have been the biggest songs? I don’t know. But it’s certainly stand-alone in that it’s the first song I’ve had with that viral impact. It took all of us by surprise.

The Tension album cover — which features you holding a giant diamond — is all over Las Vegas. What’s the story behind it?

The story is that Haris Nukem took the photographs [and created] all of the artwork for the album. His style is hyper-real. He presented a bunch of different sketches on his iPad. I remember him saying, “I don’t know, I just had this vision of you holding a diamond.” It was really pointy and painful. Haris got a bit of sandpaper and took it away, filed the point down, then brought it back. I was like, “OK. I can do this now.”

The word “eras” is thrown around a lot these days. How would you describe your current era?

The track is a runaway success, currently in the UK Official Charts top ten and taking the number one spot on the UK Big Top 40 for several weeks. TikTok users across the world have embraced the track with millions of fans using the song for their own creations. There’s even been calls for “Padam” to be added to the Oxford English Dictionary!

Kylie Minogue Is Planning a U.S. Tour

Pop icon Kylie Minogue makes an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” airing Friday, February 2. 

The “Padam Padam” singer chats about her Las Vegas residency and how it's a much more intimate setting compared to her tours, revealing she plans to do a U.S. tour soon. 

"Yes," Minogue said, confirming the tour. "I haven't got the dates yet but we're working on it."

She also tells Jennifer it has been 20 years since she won a Grammy Award and recalls being stuck in traffic that day and late to the ceremony. 

Kylie also looks back on meeting Prince years ago in London and sharing lyrics with him, which he then made into a demo song and delivered to her on a cassette, but she sadly doesn't know where the tape ended up.

Chris Martin Recalls 'Otherworldly' Experience Meeting Kylie Minogue After He Was a 'Fan for Nearly 15 Years'

Martin wrote a tribute to Minogue in light of being one of TIME's 100 most influential people

Chris Martin is waxing lyrical about Kylie Minogue .

In a tribute written for the 55-year-old "Padam Padam" singer for TIME , the Coldplay frontman recalled his first time meeting Minogue.

"Kylie Minogue was one of the first people I ever met from TV. She was a pop star, and I had watched her in  Neighbours  every day for a decade," Martin, 47, wrote for TIME , who named Minogue one of its 100 most influential people of 2024. "So when she came to an early Coldplay show, I’d already been her fan for nearly 15 years."

"Kylie is so inspiring to me — she lives her life so gracefully and approaches every project with such passion and dedication. She always seems to be 10 years ahead of everyone else, and she’s an artist who knows how to be of service, making songs that fans go on to love for years," he continued.

Martin also praised her ability to create a safe and inclusive space for her fans.

"Kylie creates a space where everyone is safe to be themselves. When I look at her I feel hope. She’s proof there are humans who don’t judge," he wrote.

Martin concluded, "That first meeting was otherworldly. After all this time, Kylie’s star has never dimmed. It’s an honor and a privilege to know her, and she is deserving of every good thing that happens to her."

In 2019, Minogue brought out the "Yellow" singer during her set at Glastonbury Festival and together they performed a rendition of "Can't Get You Out of My Head." Minogue was originally set to perform at the festival in 2005 but had to back out due to a breast cancer diagnosis. At the time, Coldplay filled in for her.

TIME announced its annual list on Wednesday, April 17, and other musicians featured on it include Dua Lipa , 21 Savage, Burna Boy and Jack Antonoff.

Minogue celebrated the honor on social media and wrote: "Thank you for this incredible honour, being amongst such stellar company. This is mind-blowing to me and is making my heart FULLY Padam!! One of the #Time100 … W❤️W."

In March, Minogue was honored with the coveted icon award at the Billboard Women in Music awards. At the time, the Australian singer revealed the one piece of advice she'd give women everywhere : “There’s one of you.”

“I’ve yet to put that in a song, but I would love to. In every yesterday and every tomorrow, there’s just you,” she said.

Minogue continued, "We spend so much time trying to better ourselves or judge ourselves or whatever. I kind of want to say be the best you, but also you don't have to be the best all the time, just be you."

After returning to the upper echelons of popular music in 2023, Kylie Minogue is ready to bask in her achievement as one of the most influential people in the world .

On Wednesday (April 17), TIME announced its annual list of the 100 most influential people of the year. Along with music peers such as Dua Lipa, 21 Savage, Burna Boy and Jack Antonoff, the “Padam Padam” singer earned a spot on the coveted list, falling under the “Icons” category.

Martin continued, praising Minogue’s commitment to reinvention throughout her decades-long career. “She lives her life so gracefully and approaches every project with such passion and dedication. She always seems to be 10 years ahead of everyone else, and she’s an artist who knows how to be of service, making songs that fans go on to love for years,” he explained. “Kylie creates a space where everyone is safe to be themselves. When I look at her I feel hope. She’s proof there are humans who don’t judge.”

Taking to her Instagram, Minogue thanked TIME for honoring her and expressed her surprise at being included on the list. “Thank you for this incredible honour, being amongst such stellar company,” she wrote. “This is mind-blowing to me and is making my heart FULLY Padam!!”

Australia’s biggest Kylie Minogue fan Terence Belletty lives in Perth, passion to air on SBS Insight

Anyone who knows Perth man Terence Belletty knows he is most at home inside his special Kylie Minogue room filled with $250,000 worth of albums, merchandise and mementos he has collected over the years as a super fan.

For Mr Belletty, the iconic Aussie pop star is more than a famous singer. She represents a symbol of resilience and inspiration, something he had a chance to tell Kylie face-to-face when they met in 2019.

Born in Australia to parents from Mauritius and India, Mr Belletty was often bullied by his siblings growing up who “made fun” of his Kylie obsession.

He wasn’t super sporty or academic and felt like he didn’t fit in with his family, who he’s no longer in touch with, but Kylie was his safe space.

“I could just close the doors, turn off the lights, and put Kylie on,” Mr Belletty said, who will also appear on SBS Insight’s Super Fans episode on Tuesday.

“I have got to the age now where I don’t care anymore, I’m not hurting anybody and this world we’re living in, if you can find joy in whatever you do, just get on with it and enjoy yourself.

Mr Belletty got to tell Kylie how much she meant to him when the pair met before her Perth concert in 2019.

“I always imagined the moment I met her I would faint or cry, I did have the giggles but she reassured me and hugged me,” he said.

“We spent about 15 min together, I told her how much meant to me and she gave me some pointers about how everybody goes through their own struggles and how it’s great we find solace in music.”

Kylie was “impressed” with his collection and even signed his arm.

Mr Belletty became besotted with Kylie as a child, watching her on Young Talent Time and Neighbours and has followed her throughout her entire music career.

“It was like a schoolboy crush but over time that didn’t seem as important as much as what she represents as a person,” he said.

“(For me) she represents resilience, everything she’s gone through, she’s not scared to try new things and if somebody on that scale is doing it little old me can do it.”

He’s a big-time collector and has spent more than $250,000 on concert tickets and official merch which he keeps in his Kylie room.

“I’m quickly running out of room, there is no more wall space,” he said.

With three sides of the room taken up by cabinets dedicated to different eras and album releases, Mr Belletty guarantees to have all of Kylie’s official merch from dolls to perfume, glasses and wine.

The star, who was recently named one of TIME Magazine’s most influential people of 2024, also handed him a feather that fell from a dancer’s fan at a concert he was at, which he has framed.

Meanwhile, Mr Belletty’s wife isn’t a Kylie fan and doesn’t like to listen to her music at home but there is not a day that goes by that her husband doesn’t listen to a Kylie song.

So off to the Kylie room he goes.
