With 11 Grammy’s, over 30 studio albums and having collaborated with: Bette Midler, Frank Zappa and Johnny Cash, it’s no surprise that alternative singer and songwriter Linda Ronstadt (born 15 July 1946) from Arizona, U.S. has earned the title as one of the most successful female recording artists in America.

Ronstadt’s career began back in the mid 1960’s amidst the emerging folk and country rock scenes which would have a significant impact on her distinctive qualities. Spending most of her time performing alongside Bobby Kimmel and Kenny Edwards in the folk-rock outfit known as The Stone Doneys, the latter half of the sixties saw Ronstadt set time aside to work on her solo material. In 1969 she released her debut solo “Hand Sown… Home Grown” and saw Ronstadt embrace elements of country rock. The album featured a few Bob Dylan covers and the single “(She’s a) Very Lovely Woman” and although the album wasn’t a commercial success, it wasn’t long before she was widely recognised for producing the first alternative country record by a female singer.

With backing from her label, the seventies presented Ronstadt as the ‘First Lady of Rock’ as her sound embraced the genre producing hits such as “Heart like a Wheel”, “Simple Dreams” and “Living in the USA”. Having appeared on the front of Rolling Stone magazine a total of six times, Ronstadt walked, talked and breathed the rock n’ roll lifestyle. Which made the eighties a bit of a stark contrast as she made her Broadway debut in “The Pirates of Penzance”. Despite the unconventional dabble in theatre, Ronstadt’s career still flourished as she still continued to produce hits such as “Hurt So Bad” and “Don’t Know Much”.

In an incredible career spanning over six decades, touring with the legendary The Doors and Neil Young, over 100 million records sold worldwide and multi-platinum statuses here there and everywhere, Ronstadt’s influence and talent has not only lent itself to hundreds of tracks but continues to resonate through American recorded music history while inspiring generations.

I'd always seen Linda Ronstadt on TV and I thought she was a beautiful lady. The TV just didn't do her any justice though. In person, she is breathtaking. Just stunning.

Opening up with You're No Good, I was fighting back the tears. I definitely wasn't sad. I was overwhelmed with emotion though. I was just elated beyond belief to be seeing Linda live and in person. My god, her voice. She is the real deal. Woman can sing, like really sing. Nothing forced. She makes it just...effortless. No gimmicks, no fancy pyrotechnics, no backup dancers. Just Linda and the mic. That's it. That is all that is required. Her voice is so strong, needs basically nothing other than the accompaniment of instruments.

This particular night the brunette bombshell did an extended version of some of her biggest hits. And you know of course what we all longed to hear. Yep, Blue Bayou. She knew this. She knew how to command her audience and hold us captive to our will. She waited to perform Blue Bayou on her encore. It was phenomenal. Linda is just spectacular. She is the real deal, a true living legend. I'd give nearly anything to see her live again.

The Portland Conversation With Linda Rondstadt was excellent! Revolution Hall was packed and her fans very enthusiastic. It was captivating to hear of her childhood roots and musical family, with photos of her mom, dad, grandparents, aunt, brothers, and Linda at different stages of her life growing up in Tucson. She captured her career beautifully with quips, stories, & video of her recordings and more. I was amazed by her diverse influences and impressed with her refusal to be cast into a single musical genre. Her 2013 Memoir “Simple Dreams” has more. The event lasted 1.5 hours and she was assisted on & off the stage by a longtime friend and former manager/producer. I am SO glad we travelled from WA State to see her in Portland! (She said she liked Portland much more than Seattle).

It was not a concert but more of a conversation with Linda. She sat on stage with Dan Guerrero and talked about her life from her early days in Tucson to her meteoric rise to stardom in the 70's, 80's and beyond. Linda talked about her days in rock and roll, classics with Nelson Riddle and her famous Spanish albums. I have been a huge Linda fan since her days with the Stone Poneys, loved her book and thought this evening was fabulous.

Mile high stadium in denver, us on sun, 08 aug 1976.

Linda performed between Pure Prairie League and The Eagles, on their first tour with new member Joe Walsh. Linda was fantastic. She played her hits and kept admonishing the crowd to stop shooting her with water guns. Really great show for all three bands.

That amazing big voice echoing around a big barn of a field house. She blew the crowd away that night. So sad to know that we never will hear that voice live again. Incidentally, Dartmouth is in HANOVER, not Manchester.

About Linda Ronstadt

Linda Maria Ronstadt (born July 15, 1946) is a retired American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, and Latin. She has earned 10 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award. Many of her albums have been certified gold, platinum or multiplatinum in the United States and internationally. She has also earned nominations for a Tony Award and a Golden Globe award. She was awarded the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Latin Recording Academy in 2011 and also awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award by the Recording Academy in 2016. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014. On July 28, 2014, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts and Humanities. In 2019, she received a star jointly with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their work as the group Trio. Ronstadt was among the five honorees who received the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements at the annual event on December 8, 2019, in Washington, D.C., at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Ronstadt has released 24 studio albums and 15 compilation or greatest hits albums. She charted 38 US Billboard Hot 100 singles. Twenty-one of those singles reached the top 40, ten reached the top 10, and one reached number one ("You're No Good"). Her success did not translate to the UK, with only the single "Blue Bayou" reaching the UK Top 40. Ronstadt's duet with Aaron Neville, "Don't Know Much", peaked at number 2 in December 1989. She has charted 36 albums, ten top-10 albums, and three number 1 albums on the US Billboard Pop Album Chart.

Ronstadt has collaborated with artists in diverse genres, including Bette Midler, Billy Eckstine,Frank Zappa, Carla Bley (Escalator Over the Hill), Rosemary Clooney, Flaco Jiménez, Philip Glass, Warren Zevon, Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Dolly Parton, Neil Young, Paul Simon, Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash, and Nelson Riddle. She has lent her voice to over 120 albums and has sold more than 100 million records, making her one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Christopher Loudon, of Jazz Times , wrote in 2004 that Ronstadt is "blessed with arguably the most sterling set of pipes of her generation."

Ronstadt reduced her activity after 2000 when she felt her singing voice deteriorating, releasing her last full-length album in 2004 and performing her last live concert in 2009. She announced her retirement in 2011 and revealed shortly afterwards that she is no longer able to sing as a result of a degenerative condition later determined to be progressive supranuclear palsy. Since then, Ronstadt has continued to make public appearances, going on a number of public speaking tours in the 2010s. She published an autobiography, Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir , in September 2013. A documentary based on her memoirs, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice , was released in 2019.

Joe Bonamassa Announces Extensive US Tour in 2024

Blues legend Joe Bonamassa announced his tour of the UK and Europe some time ago, as well as his summer tour of the US. Luckily for fans of the “Woke Up Dreaming” hitmaker, it looks like his US tour will be extended well into fall of this year! Bonamassa will travel across both coasts and hit major cities in New York, California, and more. No supporting acts have been announced.

The Joe Bonamassa 2024 Tour of the US will begin on July 18 in Patchogue, New York at Great South Bay Music Festival. The tour will end, pending any additional dates, on November 30 in Des Moines, Iowa at the Des Moines Civic Center.

Ticketmaster appears to be the main spot to score tickets to Bonamassa’s US tour this year. Fans can access the artist presale code here . There are also a few tour dates on Ticketmaster that currently have additional presale events as well.
