1. Hotel Tonight

An open laptop showing the homepage of HotelTonight, a travel website where you can make last minute hotel reservations

A perennial favorite app among SmarterTravel editors, HotelTonight has been finding travelers’ deep hotel discounts since 2010. The app allows travelers to book same-day accommodations across the globe at discounts of up to 50 percent. If you don’t want to leave things until the literal last minute, though, the app also lets you book dates a little further out. The well-designed booking engine serves up clever recommendations and insider info—plus those remarkable markdowns. Keep an eye out for the Daily Drop, the biggest discount of the day (which you only have 15 minutes to book).

The site has a Last Minute Travel Club for deeper discounts and rewards points to use toward free hotel stays. Membership is $50 per year.

1. TourRadar

I found a four-day hiking tour of the Inca Trail in Peru for $881 departing within the week.

3. Contiki

An open laptop showing the last minute deals page of tour and travel booking site Contiki

Contiki has a wide variety of tours to choose from, and the site has a handy last minute trips option to find a tour when you need one. Popular Getaway Deal Destinations

You may think it is hard to find deals to some of the top destinations, but as we have been mentioning, there are several options out there, no matter where you are going. Here are some sites that will help you plan your next getaway to some of the top spots.

Europe Deals

Lastminute.com .

Open laptop showing homepage of LastMinute.com, a place where you can book last minute travel

Netherlands-based LastMinute.com also covers a range of last minute trip options, including flights, hotels, Eurostar train tickets, vacation packages, car rentals, theater tickets, and experiences. A Paris search turned up several highly-rated hotel options at $75-$85 per night at press time. This site also allows you to filter by hotels that offer free cancellation, a great perk if your travel plans change last minute. LastMinute.com also has “top-secret hotels” available for opaque booking, though in my Paris search they were actually a bit more expensive than the named hotels in my results.

Caribbean Vacations

An open laptop showing the last minute deals page of Beaches

While we love Sandals, we also love their sister company, Beaches . Beaches features two resorts in Jamaica and one in Turks and Caicos. Their last minute travel deals are similar to Sandals, where you can get one free night, and are able to book with just a couple of days in advance.

Best Last Minute Travel Apps for Your Phone

Most people tend to do everything on their phones, from booking restaurants, reading the news, and of course, booking travel. These apps are our favorites for booking last minute travel.

A man holding a phone showing the app Elude

Elude is more than an app, it is an experience for the well-seasoned traveler. Not only does it let you search trips from your departure city to anywhere in the world, it gets to know you so you’ll find out about the best deals catered to your interests. Keep tabs on your trips, where you’ve been and what you’ve done. Their search feature allows you to put what your budget is, and what dates you want to travel, then showing you details for trips that fall under your criteria. When I searched, I found a trip to Prague leaving from New York City in two weeks for $1374 including airfare and hotel.

A man holding a phone showing the booking app Snaptravel

With Snaptravel , you can search for hotels conveniently on your phone. Once you sign up, you will receive exclusive deals over your message service of choice (SMS, Facebook Messenger, iMessage etc..). You can also do a simple search with the days you want to go, and where you want to go. You can filter by price, hotel stars, amenities and more. The perfect app for booking that last minute hotel anywhere in the world.

Heading to the Airport? Use This Preflight Checklist

A man holding a phone showing the vacation rental bookingapp VRBO

These days, vacation rentals are all the rage, and finding a last minute travel deal for accommodations can be tricky if you don’t want to break the bank. That’s where apps like VRBO come in. You can search rooms, apartments and houses available to rent wherever you are going. Often, owners who have had a cancellation or just want the place booked will discount the price last minute as to not totally lose out on making any money. You might just find a unique stay, like a treehouse or secluded cabin.

Travelocity

A person holding a phone showing the travel app Travelocity

Everything is better with time, and Travelocity is not excluded. Founded in 1996, they have adapted to the ever-changing tech world, and their app shows they are good at what they do. Search for hotels, vacation packages, flights—you name it—and all of your bookings will stay on the app for easy access. Looking for the perfect trip to Las Vegas last minute? Travelocity has your back.  When I searched for a trip to Vegas in two weeks, I found hotel and airfare for under $1,000 for a five night stay.

Get a Deal on Last-Minute Vacations

If you're dreaming of an late-summer escape, use these strategies to save hundreds of dollars on 11th-hour airfare, vacation packages, cruises, European getaways and more.

  • Newsletter sign up Newsletter

Ah, the last precious weeks of summer. The kids may be getting ready to go back to school, but don't put away your suitcase just yet. If you never got around to taking a vacation this season -- or you're itching for one last getaway before Labor Day, there's still time to snag a sizzling deal. Now's a good time to brush up on your vacation-booking skills.

For this story, we define "last minute" as within two weeks of departure for most destinations or up to a month before a cruise sets sail. (The typical weekend vacation is booked seven weeks in advance.) You can save a bundle by following strategies for booking spur-of-the-moment trips for business and leisure.

Airlines hike fares a week or two before most weekday flights depart. They figure that many business travelers will pay through the nose to fly on short notice. But there is a way around the high prices: Buy a vacation package that includes a hotel and rental car along with your flights. Airlines discount unbooked seats at the last minute by bundling them into packages, which don't list the fare reduction separately.

For example, in late August, American Airlines was offering a round-trip Friday-to-Monday ticket between St. Louis and San Francisco. The fare on two days' notice was $788. But on Lastminute.com (formerly known as Site59.com), a Web site that tracks last-minute weekend packages, we found a round-trip ticket on the same American flights -- also on one days' notice -- as part of a vacation package that included a hotel, for $427 per person.

To get the price, you don't actually have to use the hotel -- although you won't save any more money by skipping it. Lastminute.com and many other companies that sell packages let you keep the plane ticket and ignore the hotel or any other part of the package without penalty. (If you need a car, check for a package that will offer a better deal than buying a flight and rental car a la carte.)

Lastminute.com advertises that it offers packages starting 14 days before departure (and as late as three hours before departure). If you want to book a package for a holiday weekend, you will often find deals up to 17 days ahead of your departure.

Premium lodging

A hotel may lower its rate at the last minute if it is not fully booked. Capitalize on the hotel's bad luck with a two-step plan: First, reserve a room at an inexpensive chain hotel that permits cancellation up to the day you arrive. For example, Marriott hotels allow you to cancel standard bookings (as opposed to rooms reserved at special clearance rates, which have tighter rules) without penalty until 6 p.m. on the day of arrival.

Next, a day or two before you arrive, call the hotel you would prefer to stay at and ask for the lowest rate. If you score a great rate at your preferred hotel, cancel the first reservation. An alternate strategy is to check the hotel's Web site for special deals, such as a free third night. Hotels are offering free nights more often because they're under pressure to keep guests for longer stays without starting a price war by lowering daily rates, according to Nancy Dunnan, editor of the TravelSmart newsletter.

If the hotel is run independently or is part of a regional chain, call the front desk and ask the clerk for an extra night's stay free -- even if the hotel isn't currently advertising one. Independent and regional-chain hotels, which lack the marketing power of national chains such as Hyatt, may be more willing to bend to fill an unexpected vacancy. When you call, say something like, "I already have a reservation at another hotel at a cheaper rate, but I'll book with you if I can get a third night free." This strategy won't work with national chains because they discourage their hotels from negotiating directly with guests.

Another last-minute strategy may be the most fun of all: Try an inn or a bed-and-breakfast instead of a hotel. These mom-and-pop operations are often more flexible about discounting to fill vacancies than national hotel chains, says Dunnan.

To find 11th-hour bed-and-breakfast getaways, sign up for free weekly e-mails from Bedandbreakfast.com . Every Wednesday, you'll receive a list of places offering deals of 20% or more off regular rates for the upcoming weekend in the city, state or region you prefer to visit. For instance, on one days' notice you could have recently booked a stay at the Country Victorian B&B in Charleston, S.C., for $99 a night, versus the regular rate of $185 a night.

Low-cost cars

Rental-car companies put unreserved cars on fire sale at the last minute, but they prefer not to advertise these low rates. Their solution is to offer discounts via blind-booking Web sites, such as Hotwire.com and Priceline.com .

At Hotwire.com, you can specify dates, car type and pick-up location. The site then fetches rates. Select the rate you're willing to pay, and Hotwire will book you with the company of their choice. Hotwire rents cars from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz and National, but you won't know which company is offering your nonrefundable rate until you've paid.

For example, in late August, we looked for a spur-of-the-moment weekend car rental in Chicago with two days' notice. The cheapest offering from any of Hotwire's providers was $34 a day. On Orbitz.com, the best offer from the five companies was also $34. But on Hotwire.com, we found a car for $18 a day.

Priceline.com brokers cars from the same five car companies. The auction service lets you specify dates, type of car, pick-up location and the price you're willing to pay. If a car-rental company accepts your bid, Priceline will reserve the car. The site also lets you pick a rental-car provider and pay the listed rate, but its name-your-own-price deals usually save you more money.

Cruise trips are best booked many months in advance. Demand for top itineraries is high, and you need to book a few months ahead to nab the best deals. But if you're planning a trip for late summer or early fall, all is not lost. Sometimes, early birds -- people who book a year in advance -- cancel at the last minute, making bargain-priced cruise cabins available. To find these deals, stop at discount travel site SkyAuction.com .

For example, SkyAuction recently put up for bid an inside cabin for an eight-night roundtrip Mexican Riviera cruise on Norwegian Cruise Lines from Los Angeles, sailing September 29. Just one month before the departure date, the winning bid was $756 per person, double occupancy, including all taxes and service charges. The cheapest cabin available for the same cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line's Web site started at $2,099.

Another agency that excels at last-minute cruise offerings is Moment's Notice . Search for cruises that meet your criteria for length, itinerary and amenities. The site will fetch cruises with different prices. (The site sells a variety of other travel products, too.)

Recently on less than three week's notice, you could have scooped up a seven-day Alaskan cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines, departing from Wittier, Alaska, on August 29. An interior cabin cost $962 per person, double occupancy (including taxes and fees).

Moments-notice.com stands out for offering vouchers for free second trips. These spiffs are usually hotel stays, not cruises. Recently, one such free trip was an seven-night stay for four people in a condo. (Taxes on the free trip are typically $50.)

European getaways

European vacations are also best booked months in advance, but if your heart is set on taking a last-minute jaunt to Europe, you can still catch a good deal. One of your best bets is to head directly to LastMinute.com . Enter your departure point, destination city and target departure date (such as a specific day or "next weekend"). The site will retrieve a list of deals by price and length of stay.

Recently, on one week's notice, we found an offer for a five-night Belgian getaway over Labor Day weekend at the four-star Crown Plaza hotel in Antwerp. The package included flights on Continental Airlines departing from New York City. The cost was $943 per person, and that included all taxes and fees.

For last-minute hotel rooms in Western Europe in general, we recommend Laterooms.com , a British-based site that seems to have a broader selection of hotel rooms than Expedia and its rivals. For rooms in Italy in particular, we recommend Venere.com , an Italian-based Web site that lists rooms for several countries but boasts especially deep coverage of Italy.

For more advanced-level tactics for booking at the last-minute, we recommend HotelChatter.com , which gleans intelligence about the best and worst hotels from readers' missives and articles from top travel publications. (At the site, enter the search terms "last minute" to fetch relevant tidbits.)

THE CLUB SCENE

Looking for a discount on your next cruise? Check into some of the packages offered by travel clubs, which often have cruises discounted as much as 40 percent off the brochure rates.

The clubs offer their packages through periodic mailings and newsletters. A membership fee is usually required to receive the newsletters. But before booking any cruise, through the clubs or even through a travel agent, take these steps: * Get brochures from the cruise lines and familiarize yourself with the brochure rate, the cabin layouts and classifications. Many of the best deals the clubs offer are for smaller or inside cabins. * Ask whether the package includes air fare to and from the cruise ports of embarkation and debarkation. This isn't always the case, and any savings you may get on the cruise may be offset by the price you pay for air fare, particularly on last-minute cruises. * Ask whether there are any other fees, taxes or port charges to pay. * Then get all of these details in writing.

Here is a sampling of some of the larger travel clubs: Moment's Notice, a New York company with 50,000 members nationally, has been booking discount travel packages around the world for 18 years and offers trips with discounts of 10 to 50 percent off the original price. Arthur Berman, director of Moment's Notice, says members get a package detailing discounts on cruises, package vacations and airline travel. For current packages, call the hot line, 212-873-0908. The annual membership fee is $25; call 718-234-6295 for more information. Encore, a travel club based in Lanham, Md., charges $49.95 to be part of a million-member club that offers savings of 25 to 60 percent on cruises. The cruise packages are detailed in the quarterly newsletter, "Preferred Traveller." "The cruise lines work with us closely because we have a very high volume of cruise bookings," said Judy Nielson, director of travel at Encore. For more information, call 1-800-444-9800 or 301-459-8020. Vacations to Go offers discounts as well as last-minute specials on cruises. "We focus on last-minute bookings," said Karen Northridge, manager of public relations at the Houston-based firm. "We're able to offer large discounts on cruises because we specialize in cruises." Club members learn about the cruise offerings through periodic mailings (18 in 1996) that describe last-minute packages, she explained. Discounts on trips on all the major cruise lines range from 30 to 70 percent off the brochure rate, and sometimes include air from gateway cities. The membership fee is $5.95. Call 1-800-338-4962. TravLtips Cruise & Freighter Association has 27,000 members in North America who are interested in freighter travel and unusual cruises. The Flushing, N.Y.-based club publishes TravLtips Magazine, a bimonthly publication with articles on freighter travel and an updated listing of passenger-carrying freighter services. Membership rates are $20 a year; call 1-800-872-8584.

Current offerings include seven 66-day sailings on the Blue Star Line's three container ships from Savannah to New Zealand and Australia, returning to Philadelphia. Cruise-only fares range from $4,050 per person, double occupancy, to $4,575 per person for a single traveler. The age limit is 79. The ship does not carry a doctor.

Another voyage is the 16-day cruise on the 75-passenger Aranui from Papeete, Tahiti, to the Tuamotu and Marquesas islands. The 23-day air/land/sea package includes chartered air service from Los Angeles, a seven-night hotel stay in Papeete, and the cruise. Rates start at $4,485 per person, double occupancy. This itinerary is offered year-round, with some variations.

The City of Santa Clara shares its name with the County of Santa Clara. The region, also referred to as Silicon Valley, is internationally known for its technology achievements. The residents enjoy an outstanding quality of life including excellent schools, beautiful parks and open spaces, cultural arts, and a broad range of recreational activities. Visitors are happy to explore the many assets our communities have to offer and to enjoy our enviable weather - more than 300 days of sunshine and mild temperatures a year!

The Ohlone people settled this valley as early as 6,000 years ago. It was first documented by European explorer Jose Francisco Ortega in 1769. Santa Clara and San Jose both grew out of missions established a few years later by Franciscan padres. Early American settlers came west to our valley in the first half of the 1800s, but a much larger influx accompanied the discovery of gold in California in 1849. By the time California became the 31st of the United States in 1850, the fertile land of our valley began to draw families whose farms and orchards created a national reputation for Santa Clara County as a thriving center of agriculture.

Populations in our communities grew slowly and steadily until after World War II when thousands of veterans and their families poured into Santa Clara County to buy homes and experience suburban living at its finest. The City of Santa Clara's population alone jumped from 6,650 in 1940 to 58,880 in 1960. As of the 2010 census, the City of Santa Clara had more than 116,000 residents and Santa Clara County was home to just under 1.8 million.

How to pay a Spanish traffic ticket?

In January we were apparently speeding in Madrid and were caught by a traffic camera. We received notice from Hertz and a few weeks later received a certified letter from Direccion General de Trafico. We have been trying to pay the ticket ever since, but are not succeeding: The phone voice mail system is only in Spanish and exceeds our tourist level of understanding. Once, randomly pushing numbers, we got a person, but there were no English speakers there (basically, they hung up on us). On www.dgt.es there supposedly is a page in English, but the form wants a "record number" of a certain number of digits and decimal points. There is no such number of that name or configuration is on any of the paper work we have received. There doesn't appear to be a general "contact us" or "help" link. I am getting very anxious and really want to pay this and get it out of my life, but keep failing in my attempts. Any ideas?? Xanie

Dorothy, I have NEVER seen any documention stating that someone, in the EU, was denied a rental car because of a previously unpaid ticket. While I do not condone skipping out on paying tickets, I do know that my brother did not pay one of his, and went back to Italy, the following year, and had no problem renting a car. Roxanne, I would not worry about being denied a rental in an entirely different country. Good luck, and let us know if you find a way to pay the ticket.

contact your nearest Spanish consulate although they can't get service on you in the states for a minor traffic violation you might have trouble renting a car over in Europe in the future

I think eventually they will go back on Hertz for it and since Hertz has your credit card they will chage you along with any additional fines or late fees. I had a parking ticket in Fl. once for 5 minutes over and totally forgot about it and ultimately was charged $75 from the rental company, since its their car they are responsible, and they just put it on my card...which would have been okay, but it incurred so many additional fees it went from 10-75

We had thought of contacting the consulate and have done this - They were absolutely no help: They knew nothing and it was not their business. As we are going to the UK this summer, we are concerned that this might adversely affect our ability to rent a car.

@Terry - Hertz implied that they would charge back the credit card IF it had been a domestic (US) ticket. They had no suggestions about what to do with the ticket from Spain. This is why we are getting frustrated - We are willing to pay, but can't figure out how and no one seems to be able to explain/help.

It won't affect you in the UK. I applaud you for trying to resolve this and you probably should try to avoid future charges. Have you tried working through Hertz?

Roxanne, This has also been somewhat of an issue with people receiving tickets while driving in Italy. I also applaud the efforts you've been making to resolve this. Unfortunately, I can't think of any suggestions to offer at the moment. I very much doubt whether this will have any impact on renting a car in the U.K. as I don't believe the two jurisdictions have any agreements to cover that. It would be great if you could post another note if you get this resolved, as I'm sure the information would be useful to others here. Good luck!

I had this same problem earlier this year! Mine was in the Catalan region though so it is a different website. We contacted the embassy too. They were no help. I even had some Spanish speaking friends call the number on the ticket and listen to the recording for me, but as you know Mexican Spanish is not the same. Mine was looking for a number to, I'm not sure if it said ID number, or passport number but after putting in everything I could think of, I used the driver's license number without the preceding alpha character. Good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions. The good wishes must have helped, because I think I figured it out: I went back to the site we had tried before < https://apl.dgt.es/WEB_Sanciones/jsp/sincertificado/tarjetaResultadoObtenerRecibo.jsf > The sticking place was the "record number" which was supposed to have a certain number of digits and decimal places. I used the "numero expediente" and ignored its dashes and decimal point. I was able to pay with a credit card and was sent a receipt. I printed out every page and will keep all the information. We will also keep an eye on that credit card for awhile. But it feels great to have taken care of this. Again, thanks for your help.

Is this the website you tried? https://apl.dgt.es/WEB_Sanciones/jsp/sincertificado/identificacionPagador.jsf According to the "help" section, the "record number" is a 12-digit number.

We received a parking ticket in Malaga,Spain..Avis has charged us for three tickets..all on the same day and time..Avis wouldn't do anything about it so I called my credit card and had them remove them.

This is an old post but I am responding to Eric. Was there not a ticket on the car when you returned to it, so you knew about it then? We're all three charges for the same amount? It would be quite possible to be charged an administrative fee, the amount of the ticket, and a penalty for not paying on time, in 3 separate transactions. I am surprised Visa let you challenge it successfully because you really do owe something for the ticket.

We just got a Spanish speeding ticket and wanted to pay it ASAP in order to get a 50% discount on our 300 euro fine. It was very challenging figuring out how to pay because the website seemed to send us in circles. Follow the directions below and you should get to the payment form. Just keep going even if it seems like its sent you to a page where you have been before. Good luck, and see you again on the spanish highway going just 80 kmph the whole way :) Go to: www.dgt.es Click: Tramitas y Multas: Jefatura Virtual Then click: Alguna Multa? Then click: Pago de Multas Then click: Pago de Multas (sin certificado digital ni DNI eletronico) Then click: Alguna Multa - Mas Info Then click: Pago de Multas Then click: Pago de Multas en Internet Then click: Pago de multas (sin certificado ni DNI eletronico) Then you should arrive at a form that asks you for your passport number and other information. It will also ask you for your record number which you can find on the upper right hand corner of the ticket under N.Expediente. Enter just the numbers, leaving out the dashes and dots. Then click continue and a form will appear where you enter your credit card information. Then you submit and you click the receipt button and download a .pdf copy or you can enter your email and they will send you a link where you can get your receipt.

You're all so nice. I'd handle it the same way I did a parking ticket in Cork City, Ireland. I just won't go back there....

Although it rises from the dead annually this is still an ancient thread from over 2 tears ago....

"since its their car they are responsible" As Nigel says, this is a zombie thread - but I had to respond to the statement above that someone made. Although a rental car does belong to the rental company, NO WAY are they responsible for your traffic violations. Think about it. If THEY were responsible, you could take a rental car and speed, park anywhere you want, violate every ZTL in Italy, etc., with no consequences to you. The rental company would rapidly go out of business from the cost of paying customers' fines.

In May, 2013, my husband and I were in Spain and, after returning home, received TWO speeding tickets. The first one, issued in north central Spain, I was able to pay on the dgt.es website using the detailed procedure specified by one of the preceding posts. However, the second ticket was issued in Catalonia by the Servei Catala de Transit, i.e., "SCT", and the dgt.es website would not recognize its "Numero de Expediente". After much fruitless searching, I finally found the following web page, which enabled me to pay that ticket. 1. Type " https://multestransit.gencat.cat/ "? into Google Search. Then click on the resulting "SCT" link and it should take you to the "SCT" web page for paying traffic fines. 2. Enter the Numero Expediente on the ticket. 3. "Altres" and then enter the driver's passport number below it. 4. Click on "Cercar" 5. Click on "Effectuar Pagament" 6. Enter credit card number and expiration date 7. Click on "continuar" 8. Enter credit card CVC code. 9. Click on the make payment button (whatever the Catalan is for that. I forgot to write it down, but you can use Google Translate to assist you) Both websites will automatically deduct 50% from the ticket price if it is paid within 20 days of your notification.

Tom... I know this is an old thread... but as far as normal parking tickets, the owner of the car is responsible, as there is no way to know who is driving the car... which is why they are charged to your credit card. Speeding tickets are typically given in person so the police have the drivers license of the person who is driving... don't know how it works with the cameras. But, if someone else drives your car in the US and does not pay the parking tickets when you go to renew your license tabs you will have to pay those fines. Not sure how it would work with those automatic cameras that ticket the car for speeding??? But, the rental company does have your CC# and a signed contract stating that you are responsible for the charges, but do the police care about that? Or will they just keep charging the rental company?

Anita - you're a lifesaver! Thank you - your reply helped me take care of my ticket that I got 2 months after my trip to Barcelona. I got the ticket apparently the minute I exited the airport in my rental car and went 5 km above limit... not gonna comment on this BS... I just wanted to pay it and be done. Turns out they do have different systems for traffic ticket payment - what works for the rest of Spain does not work in Catalonia.

Moment's Notice Strikes Again with Caribbean Cruise Savings

By Robert Haru Fisher

One of our favorite cruise booking companies, Moment's Notice, is back again, this time with a spiffy seven-night Western Caribbean cruise where the prices start at just $488 per person--and in high season, no less. It's a significant gesture to those of us who want to get away midwinter to warm up in the tropical sun.

The $488 will get you an inside cabin on the Celebrity Cruise's good ship Mercury , sailing from Miami on January 10, 17, 24 and 31 in 2003. An ocean view cabin will cost $578 for the same sailings. Port charges of $139 are already included in the price as are all meals while on board the ship, some beverages, and entertainment. Not included are government fees of $24.35 per person.

Departing at 8pm on Friday nights, the Mercury's itinerary includes Georgetown in Grand Cayman (seven hours in port), Cozumel in Mexico (eight hours in port), Progresso, also in Mexico (11 hours in port), and Key West (ten hours in port), with a return to Miami on the following Friday at 7am.

On a January 3, 2003 sailing (if there any rooms left by the time you contact Moment's Notice), the prices are slightly higher, being $538 for the inside cabins, $638 for ocean view staterooms. The same ship on its February 7, 2003 sailing (if any rooms are left by the time you contact), will cost $569 for inside cabins, $668 for ocean view rooms.

Airfare is not included, but you can make arrangements through Moment's Notice or on your own. For more information, go to www.moments-notice.com .

Two weeks’ notice? How about two hours’ notice?

Two blindsided Foxtrot market employees captured the moment they found out that they — and hundreds of workers — were out of a job at the popular cafe chain when it was revealed the company was going under on Tuesday.

“So we just found out our store is closing today at 12,” TikTok user @sadkiwigirl explained, alongside another employee at the Foxtrot cafe who seemed caught just as much off guard by the news.

@sadkiwigirl found out 2 hours before that our company was closing nationwide!!! anyone know how to file for unemployment??? if you’re able to help out here’s my venmo: julia-harlos 🫶🏻❤️ #fyp #capitalism #barista #baristalife #foxtrotmarket ♬ Frolic (Theme from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” TV Show) – Luciano Michelini

As they filmed the TikTok, a co-worker mentioned that it was currently “10:14” in the morning, meaning in less than two hours, they’d be clocking out and never returning.

Clarifying the bizarreness of the situation, the employee, also known as Giulia, reiterates that the “chain is shutting down.”

“I have a few more hours on my shift … When do I take my 30?” the TikTokker joked.

While the two employees were wading through the situation’s confusion, she pointed out that the cafe was packed with people enjoying coffee and working on their laptops in the dining area.

The video then cuts to a final customer leaving the store with the on-screen caption, “Kicked out all the customers !!”

“Found out 2 hours before that our company was closing nationwide!!! anyone know how to file for unemployment???” the TikTokker captioned her video, which has already amassed 2.8 million views.

Foxtrot unexpectedly closed all 33 of its locations in Illinois, Texas and the Washington, DC, area on April 23, according to a company-released statement .

Included with the closures were two Dom’s Kitchen & Market grocery stores owned by the company.

“We explored many avenues to continue the business but found no viable option despite good faith and exhaustive efforts,” the company wrote.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Foxtrot (@foxtrotmarket)

“We understand that this news may come as a shock, and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.”

Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market announced a merger and formed the entity called Outfox Hospitality in late 2023, according to  Substack newsletter Snaxshot .

But just days before the closures, Outfox Hospitality had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

The company made no mention of filing for bankruptcy in its statement.

The now-defunct hospitality company also terminated the employment of corporate staffers.

Foxtrot unexpectedly closed all 33 of its locations in Illinois, Texas, and the Washington, DC, area on April 23, according to a company-released statement.

About 1,000 staffers work at Outfox across several states.

All the employees who were abruptly canned were reportedly not offered any form of severance.

However, a class-action lawsuit was filed on behalf of now-former employees against Outfox Hospitality, according to Progressive Grocer — one day after the company terminated staffers without notice.

Attorneys allege that Outfox Hospitality violated legislation under the US Department of Labor, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification ( WARN ) Act, by mass layoffs of its employees without ample warning — which, in most cases, requires a 60-day notice.

WARN still applies even if a company files for bankruptcy.

The two employees were soaked in the situation's confusion, she pointed out that the cafe was packed with people enjoying coffee and working on their laptops in the dining area.

The filing seeks compensation for 60 days of unpaid wages and salaries for all terminated employees and requests payments on all holiday and vacation pay.

Legal representatives for the former employees have also requested a jury trial, according to the outlet.

While the situation seemed like a major mess, TikTok users who viewed the viral video seemed as bewildered as she was.

“They didn’t give you any warning so you could line up another job so I’d definitely look into suing or see if you do qualify for some coverage,” one user commented.

“It’s crazy too bc foxtrot is always so busy. SO WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING,” another questioned.

“If you got any dirt – just remember they can’t keep you from telling everyone unless they’re still paying you or you signed some sort of severance agreement!” wrote another.

Kim Zolciak is hitting back at criticism of her clickbait post.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum wrote via Warped Speed Thursday that she did not “claim” or “allude to” her estranged husband Kroy Biermann’s death by posting a black-and-white photo of them captioned, “R.I.P.”

Although the since-deleted social media upload gave her daughter Ariana, 22, a “damn near … heart attack” on Tuesday, Zolciak told her followers she has “more tact and class and compassion than that.”

The Bravolebrity, 45, defended herself by posting another black-and-white snap with Biermann, 38.

“I am TIRED OF ALL THE LIES and ACCUSATIONS,” she wrote. “EVERY DAY it’s always something new. I’m tired of so much BS being thrown my way. So you want to know ‘what died?’ Here’s the truth.”

The lengthy post Zolciak linked to explained, “I used a picture of BOTH of us and said #RIP — and, frankly, the end of my relationship was like a death of sorts so #RIP to that.

“The story was a tribute to many we’ve lost this past year ,” she continued. “And yes my relationship was lost too so it seemed fitting.”

Want celebrity news as it breaks? Hooked on Housewives?

She told haters offended by the upload to “get serious” and not “jump to conclusions.”

The former reality star asked, “Do you actually think if Kroy died — even with all of the issues we’ve had — my first instinct would be to go to my Instagram and post #LinkInBio with his pic and #RIP attached?

“To reiterate — Kroy is alive and well and did NOT DIE nor did I ever say he has died,” she concluded. “And that’s that.”

Zolciak did not directly address Ariana’s TikTok reaction .

On Tuesday, the influencer asked her followers what “the f–k” they would do in her “situation,” saying, “I physically don’t have any f–king words.”

She appeared near tears in the video while telling her mom, “I love you, but I just, like. … My heart, like, tugging. Like, no.”

Ariana Biermann

The clickbait post was not Zolciak’s first, as she previously implied daughter Brielle, 27, was pregnant in November 2023.

The “Don’t Be Tardy” alum, who is also the mother of KJ, 12, Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 10, has been battling mounting debt and multiple lawsuits in the last year while navigating her rocky relationship with Biermann.

The duo filed for divorce in May 2023, only to reconcile two months later — and then file again in August of that same year.
