Moose Parks in Sweden – List and Map
Are you looking for moose parks in Sweden? Here is a list and map with all moose parks and safaris located in Sweden.
Moose in Sweden
Yes, there are plenty of moose walking around in Sweden. 300 000 before hunting season in Autumn. And 200 000 after. But you don’t want to see them in the wild, they can actually attack you and insure or even kill you with their hooves. Therefore it’s definitely the better idea to observe and maybe even feed moose (watch the Instagram clip further below) in a safe place, like a moose park.

Glasriket’s Moose Park in Nybro, Sweden
At Glasriket’s Moose Park you can meet moose in their beautiful natural habitat. A guided tour will take you on a trailer into the enclosure together with our safari guide who will make sure you come really close to the moose. Many find this an overwhelming experience, and you may have the chance to stroke and feed a moose. You will sit well protected in a trailer with a roof. The experienced and knowledgeable guide provides information about moose during the safari tour and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Food and fishing
Before and after the tour we sell freshly grilled moose sausages, waffles and more in our barbecue cottage. The moose shop sells moose-themed souvenirs and other local products such as honey and alpaca yarn. You are welcome to visit the other animals in the park. In our reservoir with introduced rainbow trout you can try your fishing luck.
Meet the King of the Forest
Småland offers a genuine moose guarantee. An estimated 30 000 moose are roaming in the forests of Småland, and if you don't happen to see them in nature, you might just be able to see one in a moose park. In some parks you are also able to feed and pet them!
Meet a moose
In the forests you seldom get to catch a glimpse of the shy animal. Maybe a moose will stroll by the cabin, or be found alongside (and on - traffic hazard!) the roads. At dawn and dusk, moose are most active as they search for food. Moose eat sprigs, leaves and berry twigs. During the day they retreat to their daytime lair. A large bull moose can weigh up to 500 kg. At our moose parks you get to stand face to face with a moose! In some of the parks you drive around in your own car, other parks offer a safari in open trains or by foot alongside an enclosure.
New antlers every spring
The bulls shed their antlers every winter. They grow out in time for the bull to be in great shape before mating season in the autumn. A moose cow gives birth to one or two calves, which follow their mother until the next year’s calves are born in the spring. Most of the time moose live a solitary existence. The groups of moose that one sees, usually are cows with calves or yearlings. A cow and bull can get together before mating, and groups of bulls can congregate during summers in so-called bachelor clubs…
A visit to the youngest moose park owner in Sweden
Erik Öster runs Skullaryd Moose Park . He stands among the animals as we visit him. The animals are fed twice a day, a procedure he calls the moose’s ‘staff meeting’.
“It takes about an hour to feed all the animals. It’s important to take time to bond with the animals and it gets very personal when you feed them. That’s when you can tell if they are doing well – which is the most important thing. The moose just started eating again. Mid-September was mating season and then the bulls eat nothing. Then they can only think of one thing – and that’s not their food.”
Erik dreamed of owning a moose park already when he was a young boy, and a few years back he opened his moose park and became the youngest moose park owner in Sweden. The passion he has for the majestic creatures is obvious and each animal has a name. Karl, for example, the young moose that became a hit on social media when he moved in with Erik after being rejected from this mother, was hand-fed by Erik with a bottle. How is Karl doing now? “Great,” Erik says smiling. “He received a bottle every three hours, and in total I fed him 660 litres of milk. When he was born, he weighed 11 kilograms, and after five months 150.Today he is two years old and weighs 250 kilograms.” In the enclosure, Karl immediately recognises Erik. “Yes, we have a special relationship. I’m his mom after all.”
Glasrikets Moose Park Nybro Here you are able to get really close to the king of the forest. The entrance building sells souvenirs, and the park has a pond with planted trout where you can go fishing. Adjacent to the park is a small camp site where you have the opportunity to stay overnight in your own caravan/camper.
Målilla Moose Park An adult moose is about two meters high and can weigh up to 500 kilo. Moose are kind animals that like to swim or relax with their families. If you let them eat from your hand and pet them, you will see how nice and sweet the king of the forest is. There are also goats, chickens and bunnies in the park that you can feed and pet.
Elinge Moose Park Moose in an enclosure in the wild. Go for a walk in the moose park and feed them! There are 8 adult moose and, in spring, lots of calves. There is also a playground for children, a souvenir shop and a cafe.
Laganland Moose Park Here you meet stately moose and get the chance to get really close up to them. There are plenty of towers to take pictures along the enclosure, and the public area is also adapted for disabled people. Feel free to come at the breakfast feeding at 10 am, then the moose are especially active.
Grönåsens Moose Park A walk of 1 300 meter takes you around the moose enclosure. Enjoy the beautiful nature and make a stop at the pond. If you are lucky, you will see a moose taking a swim or a drink. Along the walk are benches and lookout towers. The park also has other animals, a shop and a café.

A call to the wild
Your brain loves nature and animals.
Do your over-stressed brain a favor and allow yourself a therapeutic portion of nature and animals.
Interacting with animals can release the hornom Oxytocin. It is also known as the “Love hormone” because it is released from the brain during physical interaction.
Animal assistance in therapy and education may have a multitude of positive effects on humans. Read more about this in the study “Psychosocial and Psychophysiological Effects of Human-Animal Interactions: The Possible Role of Oxytocin”. The study views 69 studies and their effect on the human and shows interesting findings.
“People underestimate the happiness effect. We don’t think of nature as a way to increase happiness. We think other things will, like shopping or TV. We evolved in nature. It’s strange we’d be so disconnected.” – Lisa Nisbet, psychology professor at Canada’s Trent University.
Spending time in nature helps re-calibrate your senses and make you aware of your environment. A Japanese study shows that a 15 min. walk in nature can lower the stress hormone, cortisol, by 16%. The Japanese use the terms “Forest bathing” which means just soaking in nature’s good vibes and high levels of oxygen. Read more about how nature impacts us in this study!

Join the wilderness adventures in Sweden
Join to see beavers swimming along winding rivers. Watch the majestic moose walking through the deep forest. Experience the gatherings around campfires and find the peace of nature in the Swedish wilderness. The nature experiences possible in The Malingsbo - Kloten Nature Reserve are many and exciting.
Howling wolves can be heard at night
The Malingsbo - Kloten Nature Reserve in southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland is one of the biggest nature reserves in Sweden. High hills and deep valleys surround a long stretch of excellent paddling water with steep cliffs descending dramatically into the river along narrow stretches. The wilderness is located on top of a higher plateau and the wildlife is rich. There are a lot of moose, deer and beavers but also lynxes, wolves and bears are represented. The chances of seeing lynxes, wolves and bears are, however, very slim because the animals are low in number and very shy. Sometimes howling wolves can be heard at night. Moose, deer and beavers are more common. The reserve is one of the most moose-populated areas in the world and one of few wolf territories in Sweden. None of the animals pose a threat to humans. The closest wilderness
The beautiful and untouched nature reserve is classified as central Europe's closest wilderness: 2.5 hours journey (200 km) by car from the Swedish capital, Stockholm. The nature reserve has an abundance of good canoeing, bicycling and hiking trails and is very well looked after. Along the trails there are a great number of rest areas with sturdy rain and wind shelters. At the rest areas there are good, strong fireplaces in front of each rain and wind shelter. Nordic Discovery's Adventure Center is located in the small village, Kloten, between Skinnskatteberg and Kopparberg along road 233. Road description >>
What makes the area unique ?
The forest has been protected from development since 1950, when the wilderness become a nature reserve which is the reason why the forest has been left in peace and why the wilderness still is a popular retreat for many wild animals. A common sight in the rest of mid Sweden is the presents of vacation houses. The absence of vacation houses and a very rich wildlife makes the nature reserve unique from the rest of central Sweden. Moose safari
We leave civilization and go along the icy river valley towards the wilderness and the Caledonian mountain range. During the drive we keep an eye on forests and open marshes where the moose can be found. Sometimes we stop to study the beautiful stately animals and maybe we are lucky enough to catch some in the pictures. We experience the scent of wilderness and winter, light a fire, sit on reindeer skin, drink from wooden cups and taste local products.
December-April If the weather conditions are good, we go out into the wilderness with a snowmobile and sled.

An Essential Must See: Värmland Moose Park in Sweden
by Misfit Wanders Dani | Jan 10, 2024 | Activities , Adventures , Lifestyles , Nature , Sweden , Traveling
Our tour guide took us to an open field at Värmland Moose Park in Sweden. Once we made it, there were moose antlers of all sizes in front of us. This was the start of our adventure to learn more about moose and get closer to them. However, you can’t forget that moose in the wild are very different from what you see here.
In this park, they try to make the moose feel as free as possible by giving them hundreds of acres to wander on. With that being said, you can feed, pet, and look into a moose’s eyes, which isn’t something you can do in the wild. You’ll never forget this tour because of how close you can be to them! Depending on the season when you visit, there are different ways to see the moose.
Moose Antlers at Värmland Moose Park
When it’s time for your tour, you’ll quickly learn from your moose expert tour guide about moose and the environment. First off, He’ll start off talking about moose horns and how they fall off on their own. While he talks about this, you get to see antlers of all sizes on the ground. After the tour, it’s time to pose witht he antlers like a moose for some great pictures.
Throughout our tour It became hard to keep up with all the interesting things our tour guide was saying since it was a lot of information.
Our group follows the friendly tour guide to the spot where we meet the moose. When we went there, we only let people see the female moose. There was still a lot of fun to be had, though. We were told by our tour guide that he thinks the women moose are the real kings because they look for food and protect the kids. As the moose came over from the other side of the fence to join us, my eyes started to sparkle. It was really exciting! We were given food and were allowed to touch and feed the moose while our guide talked more about wild animals and how dangerous it is to act like this around them in the wild.
Most of the time, the tours are in English, but sometimes they’re in Swedish too. So, the people in the tour groups play a role at which language the tour is given in.
There’s a lot to enjoy about this trip!
Book a tour here!
Lotta the moose at Värmland Moose Park
Our tour guide told us that moose are great swimmers. This shocked me because they look huge and the kind of animal that would be good at swimming to me. With that, we learned that they can dive 6 meters (6.6 yards) down and hold their breath for a minute! What?!
In addtion to their great swimming skills, they love swimming. If you want to learn more about Moose, then Värmland Moose Park in Sweden is the place to visit. While we walked to the moose, our tour guide was happily answering our questions. I’ve been to this beautiful park three times now with my family. The first time, we saw a baby moose that was only two weeks old. It was so cute!
Now, remember that moose are wild animals and that you NEED to be careful when you try to touch them. So, please be kind to these lovely animals.
Feeding Lotta the moose
Värmland Moose Park
The workers at Värmland Moose Park take care of their moose with great and thoughtful care along with keeping the place fun and nice for the whole family. With that in mind, the tour guides care about the moose and you can tell that when they divulge information during the tours to the groups. This place is a welcoming to everyone who wants to come and have an experience they will never forget. Värmland Moose Park is a great place to visit. Check out their Facebook page and see pictures and movies of the cute moose.
Cost and the Schedule
Due to the different seasons, the program is cut down. During the winter months, there isn’t much in the park, and you’ll only be able to see half of it. During fall, it’s mating season. So you’ll see a female moose with two males next to her. Besides that, this time of year the males are known to be a little more hostile. But you should be okay as long as you treat them nicely and that there’s a female moose in their cage.
With that being said, the Swedish Värmland Moose Park is open all year! So, you can see the forest kings and queens even in the winter!
The park is only open on Wednesdays and Sundays in the fall. No matter how many people are there, each walk can last up to an hour. But every month their plans are different. To book a time to see moose, go to their website. Plus, you’ll get to see the schedul better on their website .
Feeding a one year old moose
The price of the tour ticket changes based on the time of year and whether you are an adult, a senior, a student, or a child. The amount being paid is in Swedish Kronor. The value of 200kr in US dollars right now is about $17.90 (as of October 2022). If you’re from the US, this helps you figure out how much it costs.
Book a Time to Visit!
You have to make a reservation at moose-world.com in order to go on a tour. On top of that, you can find out about the other things to do and places to camp at the Värmland Moose Park in Sweden here. Their website is always up-to-date with what’s going on in the park. Besides that, make sure you get to your tour on time. Otherwise, the gates shut at the time of the tour.
Where is it Located?
Värmland Moose Park is in the beautiful Swedish province of Värmland, in the town of Ekshärad. From Stockholm, it takes about 4 hours to drive to this place. If you need a care, then book one here . Besides driving, you can also take public transportation.
But that will take more than 15 – 19 hours. If you do choose to take the bus, you might want to think about where you can spend the night near Sweden’s Värmland Moose Park. People can camp not on the park but not so far away either. There’s even houses to rent or hook ups for motor homes. Check out camping spots here .

Sweden is covered in vast expanses of untouched nature, providing an endless habitat for wildlife such as bears, reindeer, moose and birds of all sizes. Sweden is therefore ideal for wildlife safaris – here’s an eco-friendly selection to consider.
No matter where you happen to be in Sweden, you’re never far from nature. Even urban environments have some form of natural haven within striking distance. A considerable portion of Sweden is uninhabited, and much of this land is untouched nature, spanning forestry, flower meadows, lakes, rivers, mountains and archipelago. This natural wonderland attracts wildlife in varied forms. So what creatures are you likely to encounter? The deep, enchanted forest – which covers nearly 70 % of the country – is a paradise for Swedish moose, bears, beavers, red squirrels and many other species.
Take full advantage of Sweden’s nature and the rich wildlife it attracts, through a number of outdoor experiences, like eco-friendly wildlife safaris with focus on various beasts – from Swedish moose to bears and beavers, and an exciting range of birdlife. We’ve singled out a selection of adventures, from shorter excursions to five-day, fully immersive experiences. Many of the organisers share a desire and drive to protect biodiversity and spread knowledge about Swedish nature and wildlife, sharing information on Sweden’s freedom to roam, which covers the delightful custom of foraging.
Here is a crop of Swedish wildlife safaris:
The red fox usually lives in groups or pairs. They are very adaptable and are available in all environments. They occur from the northernmost wilderness to the villa garden in the south.

Watch the bears of Gästrikland
Bears in Sweden roam surprisingly close to civilisation. A mere two-hour drive from Stockholm Arlanda airport , you’re able to experience brown bears in their natural habitat courtesy of organiser “ Wild Nordic ”. From a custom-made wooden hideout in the enchanted pine forest of the northern region of Gästrikland, you’ll benefit from views in three directions. At this vantage point, you’re likely to spot bears, as well as other creatures of the forest, such as foxes, badgers and red squirrels. The hideout has space for four people and the trip includes a night’s stay plus snacks and breakfast. This unforgettable adventure is bookable between May and September.
The Scandinavian brown bear is a peaceful omnivore that mainly feeds on berries, ants, grass and herbs. Bears could once be found all over Sweden. In the late 1920s, the bear became a protected species, after almost becoming extinct. Today there are around 3300 bears in Sweden and they can mainly be found in the northwestern part of Sweden.

Sleep among bears in Hälsingland
There are plenty of bears in Sweden and the natural wonderland that is Hälsingland is a particular draw for these furry beasts. Wildlife tour organiser “ Vargas ” has a thorough knowledge of bears and their movements. From your prime position in the woods – safely based in a comfortable and strategically positioned hideout, complete with beds and bathroom – you’ll be able to observe bears going about their business, and get good photographs to immortalise the experience. The animals have grown accustomed to groups observing them from this spot, meaning that you can get as close as five metres. This experience can be booked privately or as part of a group. A cosy forest cabin, located near the hideout, is available to rent. There’s a kitchen but no running water, though you’ll have access to clean water in the adjacent lake.
Discover Swedish moose, beavers, wolves and more in Västmanland
An all-round Swedish wildlife experience organised by “ Wild Sweden ”, you’ll be using the delightful Kolarbyn Eco Lodge as your base from which to explore the stunning nature and inhabitants of Västmanland’s province. The guided Swedish moose and beaver safaris (each lasting about five hours), will take place over three days, during which time you’ll no doubt spot an abundance of other wildlife as you make your way through the varied terrain. As part of the experience, expert guides will teach you a range of bush craft techniques, share tips on foraging and help you to light a fire – over which you’ll cook ingredients provided daily. You’ll also have the option of extending the experience with an atmospheric wolf howling tour, spending an additional night in a tent.
