While the side pocket doesn't have a zipper, it is tight enough that all of our items felt secure and nothing moved when we shook the wallet vigorously. We love that the small size means you can fit this passport wallet in any bag and even some pant or coat pockets for quick access. We used this throughout six flights and it was never a hassle to get the passport in and out of the case, even while in a hurry. The black leather is very sleek and feels high-quality and hasn't scratched at all throughout our months of travels. Other Passport Wallets We Liked

There were several passport wallets that almost made our list of winners, but we ran into some slight issues during testing. 

Royce Vaccine Card and Passport Wallet : The wallet has a simple and functional design, but the price is fairly high for the smaller capacity and lack of extra organizational features.

Walnew AirTag Passport Holder : It has plenty of room to fit all necessary travel documents and it comes with an AirTag leash, but we liked that the other tracking device-compatible wallet we tried holds the tracker more discreetly.

We researched and selected 16 passport wallets to test out while traveling and in everyday scenarios. From busy TSA security lines to shopping and sightseeing, we made sure the best wallets make it easy to pull out passports, credit cards, IDs, and cash when you’re in a hurry. We paid close attention to the capacity and noted how efficient the organizational features are for storing essential travel documents. Since travel can take a toll on luggage and accessories, we judged the overall quality of the materials and stitchwork to gauge the longevity of each wallet. 

Tips for Buying a Passport Wallet

Check the dimensions of the wallet.

Passports from around the world feature the same design and size, but you’ll still want to make sure a passport wallet fits your size needs. Some wallets are designed to just be slightly larger than a passport and others will be large enough to fit the length of a boarding pass. It depends on the space you’ll have in a bag, pocket, or backpack, so you’ll want to consider how to store the wallet while traveling before making the purchase.

Decide how many compartments you need

Passport wallets are typically designed to hold a passport and a few credit cards, but some are equipped with more organizational features. The bigger the wallet, the more room and storage options there will be for multiple passports, credit cards, cash, and boarding passes. Extra features to look for include interior zippered pockets for coins, SIM card holders, and plastic window sleeves for IDs or vaccine cards.

Look for additional security features

Sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry, so you may want to consider getting a passport wallet with an AirTag holder (AirTags are usually sold separately) to track the wallet in case it goes missing. Other security measures can include a wrap-around zipper to ensure passports and credit cards are secure and layers of RFID-blocking fabric to prevent cyber pick-pocketing.

However, after testing, we can confirm that the quality is extremely high, with a buttery feel, perfect stitching, and a sturdiness that suggests this is a one-time investment that will last many years. The wallet comes in a rainbow of colors from lavender to tan or turquoise, and for an additional fee you can have yours monogrammed, change the thread color, or add RFID blocking. 

More than a passport holder, it’s really a slim, elongated wallet with space for all your essentials. It has 13 credit card pockets, three loyalty card pockets, slots for your passport and boarding pass, and a zippered pocket for cash. We loved the all-in-one nature of this holder, which we found could even fit a phone or slimline Kindle. You could use it on its own or fit it into a medium-to-large purse or backpack. Despite its large size, we didn’t find it cumbersome on any of the four flights we took it on. The organization is intuitive and we appreciated the sense of security offered by the zippered section and button latch.

We loved this product’s small size (we easily fit it in a fanny pack). What to Look for in a Passport Holder

Intended use.

Passport holders fall into two main subcategories: simple protective sleeves that act as a weather- and spill-resistant cover for your passport only, and wallet-style holders that typically provide space for other essentials as well. Which is the better choice depends on your personal preference. If you already have a trusted carry-on, purse, or backpack to conveniently store the rest of your travel necessities and purely want to keep your passport in tip-top condition, a protective sleeve may be all you require. However, a wallet-style holder lets you keep everything in one place and may allow you to streamline your packing so much that you can use it as your primary personal item or carry-on.

Passport holders come in a variety of fabrics: most usually leather, faux leather, or polyester. Whichever you choose, look for quality materials built for long-lasting durability with reinforced seams and straps (if applicable). Leather is often perceived as the sturdiest and most stylish option, but can be expensive. There are good plastic-based, faux leather options out there that offer the same aesthetic for a fraction of the price while also scoring better in terms of sustainability and animal ethics (depending on their construction). RFID-blocking lining is a bonus for anyone concerned about cyber identity theft.

Passport holders keep precious documents protected and secure while traveling. However, be prepared to remove the passport from its case or cover when presenting it to customs officials.

Many passport holders do more than hold a single document. They contain extra slots and pockets for credit cards, IDs, cash, credit cards, and/or vaccination documents. You may find better peace of mind knowing that all your important documents are stored in the same place.

Many passport holders help store the document discretely and away from  pickpockets’ sticky fingers . If you’re opting for a passport cover instead of a holder, plan to keep your passport in a difficult location for thieves to access. For example, if you carry it in your purse or a backpack, zip it into an internal pocket. Don’t carry it loosely or in an external bag pocket.

You should also keep backup copies of your passport’s identification pages. You can do this by taking pictures of the pages with your smartphone or photocopying hard copies. If you keep a hard copy, store these documents separately from your passport. Don’t keep them with the original in your passport holder.

Interested to visit South Africa? Here are the visa requirements for Philippine passport holders

The Philippines is the second largest Southeast Asian tourist market in South Africa, next to Singapore. 

In 2023, almost 6,500 Filipinos travelled to The Rainbow Nation, compared to 4,329 in 2022, representing a 15% year-on-year increase.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Neliswa Nkani, South African Tourism’s Hub Head for the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, said that compared to pre-COVID times, Filipinos are now more ready to travel outside of Asia.

“The Philippine market is ready to travel to South Africa, to see the beauty, the natural beauty, and the culture,” Nkani said.

“And also your summer is around the corner, and everybody wants anything but the heatwaves of the Philippines, and South Africa got the perfect weather,” she added.

If you’re among those looking to visit  South Africa  to go on a safari and experience wonderful things from Mother Nature, here are the requirements you need to prepare for your Visa application as a Philippine passport holder:

Passport:  First on the list is, of course, a passport. It must be valid for at least 30 days after the intended stay or departure date from South Africa, with at least two unused or blank visa pages.

Fully completed visa application form-11 (DHA-84): The form must be completed in black ink and block letters. It must be signed by the applicant, and the signature should match your passport. You may get the form online from VFS . 

Two recent photographs:  Passport-size photos not older than 30 days.

Bank statement : The bank statement or proof of financial capability requires three months of bank statement, certified by a bank and not older than seven days from the time of application. 

Vaccination certificate : Vaccination certificate for yellow fever if the applicant travels through or stays in the yellow fever belt.

Roundtrip flight reservation and hotel booking proof : No fixed flight arrangements should be made until a Visa has been attained.

Copies of passport bio-data pages . 

Cover letter : Original covering letter signed by the applicant stating the name, passport number, and duration of visit.

The letter must have the physical address, contact details of the authorized signature's name and an outline of the purpose and duration of the visit. 

Once you complete all the requirements, you may submit your files to the South African Embassy located in Yuchengco Tower in RCBC Plaza, Makati City. Tourists planning to stay for 29 days or less don't have to pay a visa fee but for those staying in South Africa for 30-90 days, you'll need to shell out P2,525.

By the way, submit your visa application at least 15 working days before your proposed flight itinerary.

There's not enough information to jump to that conclusion, the important questions that need to be answered are;

Here's what DME web site says on the matter:

> Any luggage checked through to the final destination at the departure airport will be processed automatically. If your luggage is checked to Domodedovo, please notify the transfer agent.

So, all they need to do is notify the transfer agent and they will either fetch their luggage for them or check it in to the final destination themselves.

SVO web site is less specific about that but it doesn't imply you can't transfer if your luggage is not checked through, so I'm almost sure it's the same. Thousands of people are transiting through SVO every day and hundreds of them have flights with different airlines on different tickets and I've yet to hear of someone who was not able to retrieve their luggage for the reason it was not checked through and they had no visa.

And here's what SVO site says on the matter:

> If your flights are over 4 hours apart, and you may need some items from your luggage, you should check in your luggage at the airport of departure to Sheremetyevo. You will have time enough to registration for a new flight and having your luggage checked in...

> Foreign citizens waiting for their connecting flight are allowed to stay at Sheremetyevo Airport up to 24 hours without a valid Russian visa. The passenger should have a ticket of the relevant airline with confirmed seating for the relevant connecting flights

As you can see, they only recommend to check the luggage through, not require it, and explicitly say that you can use your luggage while transiting if you need it.

Irish passport holder wondering does anybody know should you carry orginal passport or just a copy.Hearing alot of stories of Russian police checking I D and then holding on to it until money is handed over.Whats the best thing to do?

In Russia you are supposed to have an ID with you at all times. A copy of anything is not a valid ID.

NEVER give money to the police under any circumstances - it's a crime!

hi holycow was there for 4 days in jan and by mistake never carried any id around at all and never got asked for itm maybe we were just lucky cheers

I personally always have my passport on me just in case when I move around Moscow. But funnily, I never carry my passport when I'm travelling abroad - I leave it in the hotel and never have any problems anywhere. It even happened to us once to go from France to Italy and back without passports - left them in the hotel in France - nobody cared. But when I was in Spain recently and our host learned that I don't carry passport on me, he said it was a very bad idea in Spain - the rules there seem to be a lot like in Russia.

Its the law and like every other law the question you ask is whether you want to be the small percentage that gets caught! Your regsitration document (usually given to you by your hotel clears you off with 70% legitimacy, but that and Passport are pretty much the McCoy. Its not so much the legality issue but the time that CAN be involved if the cops want to get awkward. Not very nice if you are only on a short trip !!

The European Commission had adopted specific rules on the issuing of multiple entry visas to Indian nationals on April 18, according to an official statement. Under the newly adopted 'cascade' regime, Indian nationals can now be issued long-term, multi-entry Schengen visas valid for two years after having obtained and lawfully used two visas within the previous three years. 

The two-year visa will normally be followed by a five-year visa if the passport has sufficient validity remaining, as per the laws. During the validity period of these visas, holders enjoy travel rights equivalent to visa-free nationals. The decision comes amid strengthened relations under the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility, which seeks comprehensive cooperation on migration policy between the EU and India.

India has emerged as a key partner of the European bloc and both sides are looking to strengthen people-to-people contacts, which explains the changes in the visa regime. Schengen visas allow the holder to travel freely in the Schengen area for short stays of a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. The visas are not purpose-bound, but they do not grant the right to work. 

The Schengen area consists of 29 European countries (of which 25 are EU states): Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland and Sweden, along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

This comes after the UK announced a 55 per cent hike in the salary requirements of British citizens and residents, including those of Indian heritage, who wish to sponsor their relatives on a family visa. The increase in salary thresholds announced by the government will come into effect from Thursday as part of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's plan to cut down on immigration levels.

Individuals are now required to have a minimum annual salary of GBP 29,000, up from GBP 18,600 for someone to be sponsored to come to the UK on a family visa. By early next year, this will have increased two more times to match the Skilled Worker visa salary threshold of GBP 38,700. The UK Home Office said it marks the final measure in Sunak and Home Secretary James Cleverly's package to reduce legal migration so they don't "burden the taxpayer".
