Next cruise planner sale?

Cool Cruiser

Does anyone know when the next good cruise planner sale will be? I'm looking for Freedom Jan '22, Serenade July '22, and Oasis Feb '23.

I'm quite unimpressed by the prices I see in the newly available cruise planner for Coco Cay on our Oasis Feb 2023 cruise, especially the adding of taxes to the cabanas. It makes a crazy high price for the cabana even higher! I'd hold out for a cabana if I thought I could still get one later. I'm also concerned that the new interface won't let me see the current prices if I've already booked it, which will make it impossible to book then cancel and rebook for a better price in the future.

We booked a Beach Club beach cabana for our Freedom cruise for $999, no taxes added. The same cabana for Oasis is $1499 + 179.88 tax for total of $1678.88. The floating cabanas are $1899 + 227.88 for a grand total of $2126.88! These prices are crazy, especially for 4 people. We booked a 2 bedroom grand suite for this cruise, for 2 couples, and I was hoping to extend the splurge feeling of the cruise for us with the floating cabana, but not for that much money lol!

I'm also thinking that even if there is a good cruise planner sale coming up, it's unlikely to change the cabana prices, is it? In all the time I've been watching cruise planner prices, seems like it's rare for cabana prices to go down.

Yes, you can. When in your cruise planner and it says you've already booked this, just click on the picture and it will show you the current price. Easy!

For example, I purchased the Deluxe drink package on sale for our September cruise a few months ago for $50 per person per day and now I noticed it's $67. Personally, since your cruise is pretty far off and if prices are outrageous, I would wait for a sale; however, if you want to lock it in now, buy it, then cancel and repurchase if it goes on sale.

Good luck, happy cruising and cheers!

Thanks! That's always worked for me before with the old interface... I've heard on the new interface that you might not be able to see current prices, only what you booked it for. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was true? Is your September cruise planner the old one or the new one? Our January and July '22 cruises are the old interface, the Feb '23 planner just became available and it's the new version.

I sometimes find good deals on Black Friday.  We usually sail in December, so this cuts it close. But, I have cancelled and rebooked with better prices during this sale.

Our cruises this year has the old interface. I did go to our cruises next year to look at the new version but the only thing I've booked so far is the Chops lunch, which had a "reserved" label on it, displaying the price I paid, which is still the current price, so I am not sure what will happen if the price changes. Sorry. Wish I could be more helpful.

I will definitely look for Black Friday deals

I have the new interface for my May 2022 Oasis cruise.  You can definitely see current pricing for items that you've purchased.  One thing I've noticed, and maybe it's because I was recently switched over to the new interface, I am not able to cancel some items in my cruise planner and need to call in.  Hopefully this will change.  And I also cannot modify MTD reservations.

Hmmm... that is odd about the MTD reservations and not being able to cancel items. But good to hear about seeing current prices, thank you for that info! I would rather book the cabana at a crazy price and hope to rebook at a better price later, than miss out on being able to get one.

Last "Black Friday" was on November 30th.  So maybe every six months. May 30th????

The new User Interface shows the current cost and if you have previously purchased that item, it will show you the total price that you paid for this item.  What it does NOT show you is the per person/per day cost that you originally paid.  So if you paid $50 PP/PD for your DBP and with taxes the total came out to $413, it will show only the $413 and not show that the PP/PD cost was $50.  So it makes it a little difficult to compare current price (which is displayed in a PP/PD format) to the price that you may have paid at some earlier time.  With a little calculating or with good records you should be able to figure it out but they don't make it easy.

This is particularly true for dining packages as the new UI will now charge you gratuities where the old system did not.  My advice to anyone wishing to purchase a dining package is to do it before your sailing switches over to the new UI so that you aren't charged gratuities on your dining package.  They have recently switched Oasis over to the new UI (for 22 and beyond) so they are slowly adding new ships to the new UI and eventually (presumably) all of the ships will begin charging gratuities on pre-purchased dining packages.  I think the ships that have the new UI for 2022 and beyond are Symphony, Mariner and now, Oasis.  I'm sure others are coming soon.

That's good info, thanks for sharing! Thankfully I'm good at keeping records of exactly what I paid for this cruise planner stuff, specifically for repricing. I will make sure to have the pp/pd details now.

I'm hoping that a good price for beverage plans and dining plans show up for our Serenade '22 cruise before they switch it over!

I think you might be getting sidetracked by the gratuities being separated. The two sailings I now have that uses the new user interface have no real price differences in dining packages. The old user interface showed a total which in the new user interface is basically the same total after the separate line item of gratuities is added. In other words, the price shown is now lower to account for the gratuities no longer being part of the package price.

Sailings for 2024 and 2025 are not part of the sale.

Royal Caribbean periodically offers sales on pre-purchased packages for drinks, Wi-Fi and other onboard spending items. These deals can offer significant savings over buying the same packages after boarding a ship. The sales typically don't last long, though. So, when they appear, it's good to jump on them.

To take advantage of this week's sale, log in to your account on Royal Caribbean's website and find the "Cruise Planner" section. You can pre-purchase cruise packages there.

The sale on pre-purchased packages comes even as base fares for Royal Caribbean cruises are on the rise .

Cruise line executives say bookings have soared since the start of " wave season " — the period beginning in January when large numbers of cruisers book trips for the year. That means cruise brands will likely be able to raise prices in the coming months.

The strength in bookings means that the days of $26-a-night cruise deals is likely coming to an end. Still, that doesn't mean that cruisers can't find good offers for soon-to-depart sailings.

For example, Virgin Voyages recently launched one of the best offers we've seen this year .

Royal Caribbean breaks ground on Nassau beach club

R oyal Caribbean and the government of the Bahamas broke ground Monday on the joint venture to develop a strip of land in the cruise port of Nassau called Paradise Island.

The government in 2023 gave the OK for the cruise line to develop a 17-acre portion into what will be called Royal Beach Club Paradise Island when it opens in 2025. Cruise line executives and government officials, including Prime Minister Philip Davis, grabbed shovels along the white sandy beaches with turquoise water in the background.

“With the signing of the deal [for] Royal Beach Club Paradise Island, we embark on this project to further enhance the vitality of our tourism product,” Davis said. “Signing today’s agreement, we add another world-class experience to our tourism offerings. And even more importantly, we take a bold step toward greater Bahamian empowerment in the tourism industry.”

The site is on the western edge of the strip of land that runs alongside the waterway through which ships brought nearly 4.5 million passengers in 2023, making Nassau the world’s busiest cruise port of call.

Royal Caribbean’s site expects about 2,000 visitors a day. They will be ferried over from the port but then return by land going through downtown Nassau.

It’s the first site for the smaller-sized beach club private destination Royal Caribbean plans to build out as opposed to its private island and resort destinations such as Perfect Day at Coco Cay in the Bahamas and Labadee on Haiti’s northern coast.

The Paradise Island spot will play up Bahamian culture alongside traditional offerings such as the beach, cabanas, four food and drink venues and three pools with swim-up bars. The site is being designed by a Bahamian architectural firm, and will give space for local artisan work for sale and live local music.

The project is a public-private partnership under which Bahamians are invited to own up to 49% of it. The plan is for locals to manage the experiences offered at the resort.

The cruise line will own 13 acres of the property while 4 acres go to Crown Land, which is a territorial area owned by the state. The cruise line will also pay a new tourism levy in exchange for the development.

“Marking more than the beginning of the construction process, today’s groundbreaking event symbolizes partnership, momentum and continued economic development for so many Bahamian entrepreneurs and the entire community,” said Jason Liberty, the cruise line parent company Royal Caribbean Group’s President and CEO. “We are grateful to our partners for their support, especially the Bahamian government, who stand with us here today in celebration of what is to come.”

The additional attraction to the port augments a $300 million overhaul of the Nassau Cruise Port that had its grand opening last year.

Already the port has expanded its capacity to six ships, including the ability to dock three of the massive Oasis-class ships from Royal Caribbean at once.

The revamp includes a new terminal building, Junkanoo museum, 3,500-person amphitheater, living coral exhibit plus more entertainment, food, beverage and retail space. Once complete, the port’s capacity will jump to more than 33,000 passengers per day. It had been around 20,000 a day.

Orlando

I spent $2,000 for 7 nights in a 179-square-foot room on one of the world's largest cruise ships. Take a look inside my cabin.

  • I booked a stateroom on Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas, one of the biggest cruise ships.
  • For $2,000 a week, the 179-square-foot cabin had a private bathroom, a king-size bed, and a view.
  • I thought I'd feel cramped in the room, but it had everything I needed and left no space unused.

Insider Today

In April 2022, I cruised on board Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas . At the time, it was the largest cruise ship in the world , but the title has since been replaced by Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas .

During my voyage, the ship sailed to Roatán, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico; and Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas .

For $2,000, I spent seven nights in an ocean-view stateroom on deck eight. The cruise was on sale, as it was originally priced at $3,000. Take a look inside the 179-square-foot space.

My room was a mid-tier cabin at the front of deck eight.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

I booked a mid-tier room — a step above interior staterooms , which have no window. It's a category below staterooms with a balcony , and two steps below a suite.

My cabin was on the same deck as Central Park, an outdoor space with 20,000 plants.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

I thought it was the most relaxing area on the ship, so I enjoyed being close by.

When I stepped inside my stateroom, I was surprised at how big it felt.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

Right away, I thought the cabin made great use of a small space.

To operate most of the electricity in the room, I had to insert my room key into a slot on the wall.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

I appreciated the energy-saving system.

On one side of the room, I had a mirror and a desk with several outlets to charge electronics with USB, American, and European ports.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

I thought the desk was useful for eating, as well as storing daily flyers about the day's events.

Next to the desk, a set of drawers included a cabinet with a minifridge inside.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

The desk drawers were mostly empty aside from a hair dryer, which I didn't end up using.

Across from the desk, I had a couch positioned in between two closets.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

Inside each closet, I found a rack of hangers, shelving, and a small safe. I thought it was plenty of space for a weeklong journey

Next to the couch and desk area, a small bathroom used clever storage hacks, like placing the trash can and toilet paper under the counter.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

In the bathroom, there were two glasses, a bar of soap, and a two-in-one hair and body wash.

At the top of the shower, a pullout clothing line was useful for drying my bathing suits.

Each night, my stateroom attendant replenished towels and brought flyers and schedules for the next day.

royal caribbean cruise planner sale 2023

Sometimes, the towels were folded creatively to look like animals.

I noticed that my king-size bed at the back of the room was actually two twin beds pushed together.

All Royal Caribbean cabins come with this configuration, according to its website , so they may be separated for additional guests. I often woke up in the crevice.
