Safari Snorkels relocate the air intake point on your 4×4 from the relatively low and vulnerable position under the hood to a much higher, safer location on the vehicle. This elevated position significantly reduces the risk of water entering the engine’s air intake system, which can cause serious damage, including hydrolock – a condition where water enters the engine cylinders, leading to potential engine failure.

Safari’s Air Ram intake head uses the vehicle’s forward motion to push air into the engine. “Will this fit straight onto my vehicle?” Safari Snorkel kits are developed specifically to fit your vehicle model. A wide range of kits are available to suit different model variants, but in some cases minor adaption is required to suit specific air filter boxes or other engine bay differences. This is straightforward and would normally be covered in the supplied fitting instructions.

“Is drilling required?” Yes, a drilling template is supplied.

“Is this product watertight?” If installed correctly and with all joints properly assembled and sealed, a Safari Snorkel kit will raise the air intake point of your vehicle and can be used for driving in deeper water than a standard vehicle might allow. Of course, other components may also need to be waterproofed to avoid engine or component damage.

“Can I fit a snorkel along with upgrades such as wheel arch kits?” Yes, this is a common upgrade. In some cases, the snorkel and wheel arch kit may overlap and the wheel arch may need trimming.

“Will this kit fit both left and right hand drive vehicles?” Yes, in most cases the vehicle manufacturer does not relocate components such as the air filter box when building left or right hand drive vehicles. The vast majority of Safari Snorkel kits are therefore suited to both LHD and RHD vehicles. Exceptions are detailed in the notes section.

The  SS122HP Toyota 25 Series Hilux 4x4 Snorkel is designed to deliver up to 50% more air than the OE air intake for Toyota Hilux engines. With the popularity of performance upgrades using engine management and larger exhausts, Safari 4x4 Engineering took the decision to design a snorkel system that not only raised the air intake to prevent ingesting harmful elements to the vehicles air cleaner, but also would be able to deliver the necessary volume of air into the engine, therefore maximising the performance enhancements potential. Huge air flow is but one aspect of the ultimate in snorkel Toyota Hilux design. The Safari ARMAX snorkel air ram is designed to perform two very important roles. The most obvious is to funnel cool clean air into the snorkel body - but just as importantly, the Safari ARMAX air ram acts as a highly efficient water separator to remove rain water from the incoming air stream - thus ensuring safe engine operation through even the most torrential tropical storms.

The SS122HP Safari ARMAX Snorkel for Toyota Hilux N70 Models has been designed to deliver large amounts of the cleanest air possible into the air cleaners of the Hilux N70 engines. 

With the high demand for sufficient airflow in the Toyota Hilux 3.0L Diesel 1KD-FTV motors, Safari made the decision to create a raised air intake system which lowers the chances of ingesting harmful elements to the vehicles factory air cleaner. 

The Safari Snorkel body and Air Ram used in this Toyota Hilux N70 kit have been manufactured from UV-20 Resistant Polyethylene, and are rated to withstand temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, to ensure top quality and maximum lifetime on your vehicle.

These snorkels are all new designs, tested on a custom built flow bench, to flow 25% to 70% more air than the stock air cleaner housing flows from the vehicle manufacturer, whilst still providing a watertight raised air intake.The Air Ram is designed to remove the maximum volume of water from the incoming air stream, while delivering the maximum airflow to your vehicle’s engine.By rotating the air ram to face away from the prevailing wind/direction of motion, the air ram delivers additional protection from the elements.
