Parent feedback and reviews

At Safari Daycare, we believe deeply that the first years of a child's life are the most important for setting them up for success. We know that a safe, stimulating environment can lay the foundation for all intellectual and emotional development that will follow once a child moves on from our program!

About our program

**Because we have a low adult:child ratio, we truly get to know your child. **As a program with a mixed-age environment, we ensure that your child will grow and learn alongside peers at all different ages! As a result, we can meet your child exactly where they are through close attention from our team.

**We provide a wide variety of activities that occur each day. **Whether it's painting or puzzles, art projects or building with blocks, we have a plan to engage kids each day. Often times, children are very proud to bring what they worked on home to mom and dad!

**We celebrate your child like they're part of our family! **We love to take photos during the day to share with parents, but we also invite you in for special events. We often have birthday parties and celebrate holidays together, which get kids excited (and impact our decorations and activities!)

Rhythm of the Day

safari day care gosh

We have dedicated the first floor of our single-family home to Safari Day Care, where children are able to use our private backyard for outside play each day. Located a few blocks from Downtown Flushing, we are a short distance from the Murray Hill stop on the Long Island Rail Road.

Safari Kid

Toddler & Preschool Programs

Safari Kid toddler and preschool programs present a balanced curriculum based on research and best practices. We combine play, skill-building, social-emotional development opportunities, and structured academics to promote your child’s success. Each learning experience is tailored to your child’s learning capabilities rather than their age. Your child will participate in ongoing assessments to ensure that they progress through programs when they’re ready.

Preschool level 1

Bambino Infant Program for infants from 6 weeks up to 17 months

We know leaving your infant in someone else’s care can be difficult. Our goal at Safari Kid is to make you feel confident in your choice, knowing that your infant is receiving high-quality and secure loving care. Our contemporary infant classrooms provide a sensory-rich and engaging environment to learn and process information. Infants feel welcome to safely explore and learn through all their senses. Our well-qualified and nurturing teachers encourage each child to learn, grow, and develop through our well-planned playful curricular activities. Bambino Infant Curriculum is designed with activities to help your baby develop their motor skills, emergent language skills, self-awareness, and much more.

+Our Quality Infant Care Focused on Safety, Security, and Healthy Development of Infants consists of the following daily activities:

Active Physical Play

Outdoor play is an important part of our daily routine for infants. It provides them with enhanced sensory experiences. Infants participate in activities that encourage crawling, balancing, and climbing. Outdoor play time is richly resourced with safe objects to play with such as balls, and toys for children to push, pull and ride.

All * marked content is the proprietary curriculum of Safari Kid Inc.

Social & Emotional Development

Social-emotional development is essential to a young child’s sense of well-being. Their first relationships help shape who they are, who they become, and their understanding of the world. Our nurturing teachers and enriched curriculum help lay the foundation for a range of healthy social-emotional skills such as:

  • Self-regulation
  • Turn-taking and Sharing
  • Positive Relationship Building

Fine Motor Skills/Art/Sensory Play

With close supervision, children are given plenty of opportunities to safely play with different textures such as water, sand, clay, fingerpaints, and more.

Music and Movement

Infants are invited to dance, clap to the rhythm of songs, and even sing along.

We encourage our infants to play with wooden and soft blocks daily, to promote imagination and set the foundation for spatial and mathematical learning.

Dramatic Play

Pretend play is enhanced with real objects such as pots and pans, typewriters, and phones. Infants are also privy to high quality toys, dolls, and stuffed animals.

Nature/Science

Infants are encouraged to use their senses and even special tools like a magnifying glass to observe and investigate the world around us. With teacher support, simple scientific investigations are presented such as growing plants from seeds, studying animals/insects, examining the texture of leaves, and sorting various types of flowers.

Language & Literacy

The early years are critical for literacy development. At Safari Kid we make engaging our infants in activities that promote language and literacy a key focus. Our daily routine includes singing songs, engaging with physical books, enjoying a lively story time, observing and participating in sign language, and using every opportunity to both talk and model active listening.

Babies develop math concepts very early on through everyday experiences. Our teachers are trained to know how to foster math concepts through language in a natural way, i.e. “That is heavy!”, “Can you bring me two blocks? Our math program introduces numbers, sequencing, patterns, sorting and classifying, and informal simple measurement through hands-on learning.

GOSH – Improving IT to help clinicians provide better care to children

GOSH – Improving IT to help clinicians provide better care to children

Service improvement is important to every organization, but it is critical to Great Ormond Street Hospital IT teams, as they support the fantastic people who look after poorly children.

Our last blog post described how the IT teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital are setting up a digital workplace to deliver a better service to clinicians, patients and their families. Although the GOSH IT teams had already implemented their ITSM processes, adopting Hornbill Service Manager meant that they were able take a service-centric approach. Leading with services is more effective, as Greg Fellowes explains, “When you understand your services, it’s so much easier to see how your processes support them.  The whole thing flows and works together, so your ITSM becomes simpler and far more effective.”

In this short video, Hayley Gordon describes how Hornbill Service Manager has helped to bring IT teams together, created capacity for more valuable work, revolutionized change management and improved the perception of IT across the Trust. The GOSH IT team has achieved amazing results in such a short time and we’re delighted to have played a small part in supporting such a noble cause.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

safari day care gosh

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

safari day care gosh

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

safari day care gosh

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

safari day care gosh

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

safari day care gosh

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

safari day care gosh

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

safari day care gosh

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
