How to Make a Mickey Mouse Cake

There are many recipes for baking a Mickey Mouse cake; however, there is no written standard for the cake recipe. Some people use boxed mixes, others use homemade recipes. Some bakers make the cake in a big pan and then cut it into different shapes, others use different cake and frosting colors to build the cake piece by piece.

To give your treats the authentic Disney style, we suggest using white chocolate ganache instead of frosting. Ganache hardens into a firm shell that you can smooth just like frosting, but it tastes so much better! Best of all, you can use it with any color of candy coating applied on top, so your child can have whatever color he or she wants.

To make white chocolate ganache:

Melt 1/2 cup heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges of the pan, stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat and stir in 8 ounces coarsely chopped white chocolate chips until melted and smooth (you can also use a microwave to melt the cream and chocolate together). Refrigerate one hour or until cool enough to spread onto cake.

“This party was extra special for me because it was for my son, Milan’s, 4th birthday! We have all had a tough year behind us and, like most, I had to cancel Milan’s birthday party last year. So, celebrating him this year was EXTRA sentimental.

For the venue, we set up the party at a private park in my community. To host the party activities, I invited a themed Safari Guide to lead the kids in playing a variety of games. In the end, the scavenger hunt was definitely everyone’s favorite.
