Gruve 3 (Mine Number 3) was operated from 1971-1996 and is one of several mines under state ownership through Store Norske Spitsbergen Coal Company. The mine height was 60-90 cm which led to old-fashioned methods being applied to excavate the coal. Although the mine was operated in modern times, the methods belong to another era.

A side note: We booked similar activities in Svalbard and had no issues at all with refunds! The only companies playing these dirty games are Gruve 3 and Henningsen Transport & Guiding.
