Canadian sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD are continuing their 40 th Anniversary touring cycle, kicking off their US leg next week! The US dates start on May 9th in Asheville, NC and wrap on May 23rd in Pensacola, FL. Most dates will see support from enigmatic experimental outfit, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT. Full dates below. Once more recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio, mastered by Maor Appelbaum and produced by VOIVOD, Morgöth Tales includes fresh studio (re-)recordings by the band’s current line-up of 9 especially selected, not-so-obvious picks from the band’s hyper-classy and extremely diverse back catalogue (between 1984 and 2003) as well as a brand-new song in the album’s title-track, “Morgöth Tales”.

VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin commented about Morgöth Tales as follows: “ ’Morgöth Tales’ covers 40 years of space exploration. It was really exciting for us to revisit a more obscure part of the Voïvod catalogue, from thrash-punk to prog-metal to…? The title track is a new song, which we started writing in the tour bus and hotels during the Opeth European tour in November/December 2022. It has the vibe of the experimental music we are doing nowadays, with a new twist I think. We also had the great thrill of getting E-Force and Jasonic involved on this album. I hope you’ll dig it, Chewy, Rocky, Snake and I certainly had a blast recording it. All aboard and ready for take off!“

Voivod will release 40th anniversary album Morgöth Tales in July

Former Voivod bassists Jason Newsed and Eric Forrest both feature on Voivod's Morgöth Tales, out in July

Canadian prog metal pioneers  Voivod  have announced that their 40th anniversary album, Morgöth Tales , will be released through Century Media on July 21.

As we previously announced back in February , the new album features re-recordings of a number of songs from the band's celebrated back catalogue, as well as the brand new title track, and the album also features involvement from previous bassists Eric 'E-Force' Forrest and former Metallica member Jason Newsted .

“ Morgöth Tales  covers 40 years of space exploration," says drummer Michel 'Away' Langevin. "It was really exciting for us to revisit a more obscure part of the Voïvod catalogue, from thrash-punk to prog-metal. The title track is a new song, which we started writing on the tour bus and hotels during the Opeth European tour in November/December 2022. It has the vibe of the experimental music we are doing nowadays, with a new twist I think. We also had the great thrill of getting Eric [Forrest] and Jason [Newsted] involved on this album. I hope you’ll dig it, Chewy, Rocky, Snake and I certainly had a blast recording it. All aboard and ready for take off!“

Voivod will be performing at the upcoming  Prognosis Festival  in both Eindohven, at the Effenaar venue on April 16 and in London, at the Indigo At O2 on April 22. The band will also play:

In other news, Voivod is scheduled to release its latest album,  Morgoth Tales  July 21 through Century Media Records. The record is a collection of previously recorded songs from the band’s catalog that have been re-mastered. The songs reach all the way back to the band’s 1984 debut album,  War and Pain  and as recent as its 2003 self-titled record, according to information in a press release announcing the new tour dates and compilation details.

Drummer Michael “Away” Langevin talked about the collection during a recent interview.

Voivod Reveal The Details For Their 40th Anniversary Album “Morgöth Tales”

Voivod have lifted the veil on their upcoming 40th anniversary album, “ Morgöth Tales “. That record finds the Canadian sci-fi loving progressive thrash outfit re-recording select tracks from throughout their catalog.

The all-new title track will also appear on that set. Century Media have announced a July 21st release for that self-produced outing. Francis Perron was behind the boards for the recording and mixing process, while Maor Appelbaum mastered the release.

Drummer Michel “Away” Langevin commented:

“It was really exciting for us to revisit a more obscure part of the Voivod catalogue, from thrash-punk to prog-metal. The title track is a new song, which we started writing on the tour bus and hotels during the Opeth European tour in November/December 2022. It has the vibe of the experimental music we are doing nowadays, with a new twist I think. We also had the great thrill of getting Eric [ Forrest ] and Jason [ Newsted ] involved on this album. I hope you’ll dig it. Chewy , Rocky , Snake and I certainly had a blast recording it. All aboard and ready for take off!”

VOIVOD – Announce special 40 th Anniversary Album Release “Morgöth Tales”  Commence European/UK Tour

Canadian sci-fi metal innovators VOIVOD are celebrating 40 eventful years of existence in 2023 and are pleased to announce a special Anniversary studio album entitled “Morgöth Tales”, to be released on July 21 st , 2023 via Century Media Records. Once more recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Studio , mastered by Maor Appelbaum and produced by VOIVOD , “Morgöth Tales” includes fresh studio (re-)recordings by the band’s current line-up of 9 especially selected, not-so-obvious picks from the band’s hyper-classy and extremely diverse back catalogue (between 1984 and 2003) as well as a brand-new song in the album’s title-track, “Morgöth Tales”. VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin commented about “Morgöth Tales” as follows: “ ’Morgöth Tales’ covers 40 years of space exploration. It was really exciting for us to revisit a more obscure part of the Voïvod catalogue, from thrash-punk to prog-metal to…? The title track is a new song, which we started writing in the tour bus and hotels during the Opeth European tour in November/December 2022. The Jesus And Mary Chain Announce 2024 Australian Tour To Celebrate 40th Anniversary

The Jesus And Mary Chain has announced their Australian Tour for the year 2024 which they are taking to celebrate their completion of 40 years together as a band. The tour is supporting their newly released album titled  ‘Glasgow Eyes’. The tour is going to be of five days and this album is going to be their 8th.

The 5-day tour will kick off at Sydney (Eora) on Thursday, 1st August. They are going to perform at the Enmore Theatre on Thursday. After four days of full performing, they are going to wrap the tour on the 5th day, by performing at the Astor Theatre in Perth (Boorloo) on Thursday, 8th August.

The Jesus And Mary Chain – ‘Just Like Honey’

The tickets for the tour would go on sale at around noon AEST on Wednesday, 8th May. There is also going to be a pre-sale which is going to go live on Friday, 3rd May and the timing would remain the same.

This tour of 2024, is happening after a long gap of five years. The last time ‘The Jesus And Mary Chain’ performed in Australia was in the year of 2019 in the month, of March.  They took the tour to support their 2017 released album titled ‘Damage And Joy’.
