PGA Tour Canada Set for First Q-School Event of 2022
The Tour Course at Weston Hills in Weston, FL is set to host the first leg of Q-School for the PGA Tour of Canada on Tuesday-Saturday. The 7046 yard, par 72, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design is set to see 115 competitors scheduled for 72-holes of play. The four-round event does not have a cut.
PGA Tour of Canada is the first rung on the ladder to the PGA tour. Top players at each of the seven Q-school events will win exemptions into PGA Tour Canada’s summer tournament schedule, with Q-school medalists gaining full exemptions for the tour’s 2022 season.
The top-5 players in the PGA Canada’s Order of Merit will be promoted to the Korn Ferry Tour for 2023. The Korn Ferry Tour is one step below the PGA Tour and its top players graduate to that tour.
Canada Tour Q-schools draw strong fields with international competitors, including several with professional experience. One Canadian competitor at Weston Hills who will draw a lot of attention is Cougar Collins of Caledon, Ontario. Collins won the 98th Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship in August 2020
The NCAA Division I golfer is a student at Eastern Michigan University. Collins is teed off at 8 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday’s first round. Tee times begin at 7 a.m. daily with each round anticipated to be complete by about 5 pm.
Once the event has concluded we will bring you coverage, including information regarding how the top players’ eligibility for the regular season is affected by the results.

The duo are also golf YouTube stars as "The Bryan Brothers."
Braden Thornberry is in the field. The former Ole Miss star represented the United States at the 2017 Walker Cup at Los Angeles Country Club alongside Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler, and Will Zalatoris. Thornberry secured two singles victories to help secure the win.
As a junior, he collected four victories throughout the season to increase his career total to a school-record 11. He was a Ben Hogan Award finalist, a Haskins Award finalist for the second consecutive season, and a semi-finalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the best NCAA Division I golfer. He tied for 61st at the PGA Tour's RSM Classic, where he shot a 64 in the second round, and placed 22nd at the Web.com Tour's North Mississippi Classic. He forfeited his 2019 U.S. Open and 2019 Open Championship exemptions by becoming professional.

Sawgrass Country Club hosted THE PLAYERS Championship on its East/West Course from 1977-1981. Dye’s Valley was designed by Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and player consultant Jerry Pate (who won THE PLAYERS in 1982), it opened in 1987 and has been a multi-time event host of the Korn Ferry Tour. Expect plenty of water and plenty of Pete Dye’s trademarks to challenge the game’s best in the Final Stage pressure cooker. Last Time
Bo Hoag topped overnight leader Chan Kim by one shot to earn fully exempt status on the Korn Ferry Tour as medalist at Final Stage in 2022. Hoag birdied each of his first five holes in his final round a year ago and shot a 6-under 30 for his opening nine holes. Chris Gotterup also got out of the gates quickly in 2022, birdied five of his first six holes in the final round. He couldn’t push Hoag any further on the back nine, however, and a double bogey on the par-5 No. 15 was his eventual undoing in terms of trying to win medalist. Still, he earned guaranteed starts in the first 12 events via his top-10 finish. Gotterup finished T3with Chase Seiffert. Thomas Rosenmueller of Germany rounded out the top five. TV Schedule

2022 Korn Ferry Tour Q-School final results: Prize money payouts, leaderboard, status earned
The 2022 Korn Ferry Tour Q-School final leaderboard is headed by medalist Bo Hoag, who took top honors at The Landings Club (Marshwood / Magnolia) in Savannah, Ga.
Hoag finished the 72-hole event at 14-under 270, earning fully-exempt status on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season. Chan Kim finished in solo second place, a shot out of the top spot.
That means Hoag is not subject to the Korn Ferry Tour reshuffles, which occur every four events and are based on money earned to that point in the season.
The players finishing 2nd through 10th and ties earn 12 guaranteed starts and exempt status through the third reshuffle. The players finishing 11th through 40th and ties earn eight guaranteed starts and status through the second reshuffle. Every other player earns conditional Korn Ferry Tour status.
Hoag won the $50,000 the winner's share of the $480,000 purse.
Korn Ferry Tour Q-School recap notes
The Korn Ferry Tour Q-School does not offer any PGA Tour status. Every player who gets to final stage gets status on the Korn Ferry Tour, but without guaranteed starts, players are likely forced to Monday qualify.
However, with reshuffles every four events, a player who Monday qualifies and does well can improve their status dramatically in short order.
There is no limit to the number of fully-exempt players possible, so long as those players all tied for first place.
