Top 8 best christian time travel series for exciting adventures.
Aryn July 29, 2020 Christian Fiction , Young Adult (Age 12+) 20 Comments
Today’s topic, Christian Time Travel Series! I love books about time travel, especially when they have Christian values and messages woven throughout the story.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to find yourself in another time entirely? This has always fascinated me. (And NOT just because Captain Kirk and Spock made a habit of it… or because I watched “Seven Days” a bit too often)
Would you be able to maintain your faith? Would you be able to embrace the challenge of living in another time, and share Jesus Christ with those around you? Or maybe even meet Him yourself, in a grand new way?
The best time travel fiction gives us a chance to figure that out, on a small scale, so come along with me and explore some amazing time travel series, books that challenge you to live your faith boldly!

Time Travel Books for Kids: Faith Building Time Travel Series
Written from a Christian perspective, the best books about time travel help readers explore the possibilities, and imagine how they might have handled similar circumstances.
I’ve recently found a couple of fun time travel series for my sons. I was so excited to find time travel books for kids!
Time Travel Kids Books: Time Travel In The Bible
The time travel kids books I found take modern kids back to Bible times. Both Time Travel series feature kids around 10 years old, and have them experience key moments of the Bible, and learn valuable lessons.
*Interesting article about Time travel in the Bible , if you’re curious…
The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls
I just discovered the Secret of the Hidden Scrolls a few weeks ago, when browsing some of the awesome bargains over at BibleStore , and was hooked immediately.
A brother and sister duo get taken back to great Biblical events such as
- David and Goliath
- Daniel and the Lions
- Jesus’ Birth
- Miracles by the Sea
So far, I’ve read book 1, and half of book 3, and my son and I have enjoyed them immensely. The kids (and their dog) get to explore, and they write down what they learn. They get a specific length of time to discover what they are supposed to, and speak with an angel periodically. They interact with people (at least, after there are more than 2 of them), recognize when things aren’t right, and learn about God. After each trip, they go home, and talk with their uncle about their experience.
These time travel books for kids are a lot of fun, and make a great way to ‘explore’ the Bible, especially if you take the time to compare the Biblical account before, and or, after you read the story!
This is another interesting time travel series. Various 4th – 6th grade kids get pulled back to witness different great events.
- The 10 Plagues
- The Fall of Jericho
- The Miracles of Jesus
- The Tower Rising
I’ve read The Fall of Jericho, and David and Goliath. You can read my full reviews here . I found these to be intriguing, and maybe not as Biblically accurate as they could be. That said, for upper elementary, and middle schoolers, I think they’re fun, and they open up a few of the realities of spiritual warfare.
I think both of these kids time travel series are a perfect challenge to compare with the Bible and Know the Truth. Reading these stories and the corresponding scriptures together, and discussing the differences, is great practice for being able to discern accuracy in sermons, podcasts, books and other mediums all throughout their lives!
Best Time Travel Fiction: Teen Time Travel Books
If YA time travel books interest you at all, then these teen time travel books are fantastic! You can explore (well researched) history, and develop character alongside some awesome youth. Here are my picks for Best Time Travel Fiction for Teenagers!
Time Travel Series Set in Medieval Italy
Lisa T. Bergen’s River of Time Time travel series is a clean adventure, a story of learning and growing through adversity. The faith that these girls develop, both in God- thanks to an unusual (and unauthorized) priest, and in doing the right thing even when it is REALLY HARD, is inspiring.
It is also a set of rather romantic time travel books. Whatever your feelings on teen romance I think this is a good choice. Gabi is definitely head over heels for Marcello, but when your whole world is pulled out from under you, you’re likely to be fixated on your rescuer, especially if he’s attractive and athletic, and Honorable .
I found this time travel series to be focused on building character, more than being “Christian” or “Evangelical” specifically. But that is wonderful and appropriate, because many who would be unwilling to read a Christian book, will still enjoy this, and encounter faith along the way.
In Waterfall , two teenage sisters (15 and 17) are on an archeological dig with their mom, when they go exploring, and wind up in medieval Italy, during a battle (separated of course, to add to the drama and suspense). After days of searching for her sister, Gabi-17, persuades the noble Marcello to take her to Sienna to look there for Lia.
The girls are pulled into the tug of war over land between Firenze and Sienna, becoming pawns in a great takeover scheme. Their modern self-confidence and defense abilities make them stand out very dramatically, and get noticed, making them even more of a target.
The story Continues…
…with Cascade , Torrent , Bourne/Tributary , and Deluge .
Gabi and Lia’s journey-back and forth in time, and their day to day journey into their new futures, is so full of adventure, crises, and fun, that I couldn’t put it down. Watching Lia fight her fears, Gabi fight for what’s right, and learn more about herself and her God in the process, and solving the mystery of where different people’s true loyalties were, connected well with me.
Time travel series like this one may not be explicitly “Jesus-centric” but they live life and make choices based on their convictions, and that’s where faith gets its legs.
Bonus : Busy Mom’s Devotional
I am currently enjoying Lisa’s Busy Mom’s Devotional . There are 52 Devotionals in this book. She mentions her research trips to Italy a few times, which is cool! But that’s not why I like this Devotional. I like it because she uses the Message paraphrase, which is so plain and understandable, and since I’m not familiar with that translation, truth jumps out at me in fresh ways. Then she connects it personally with a life story that hits home to most mothers, and asks you to think, trust, and pray.
Young Adult Time Travel Books: 1800s California
I recently discovered that Lisa has written a second series of Christian Teen Time Travel books, set in California . I read this 2 book time travel series in 2 days (forgot a few chores along the way).
Zara’s lost all that matters to her, and she’s not quite 18. Trying to figure out her future, and what she wants to do next, she ends up on the shore about 150 years in the past. And while she wasn’t the best student of history, she knows enough to make a significant difference for one local Don.
This time travel series was just as good, and definitely points to the power of prayer. Though we might not see quite as spectacular an answer as someone pulled in from 150 years in the future to answer our prayers, it’s still capable of strengthening our faith, and helping us examine what we REALLY WANT.
Best Time Traveler Series – Not The End Of Wales?
Welcome to Sarah Woodbury’s After Cilmeri Series
Here is another of those time travel series I can’t put down. I actually preorder each book, paying full price, which is probably the ONLY books I’ve ever done that with. (no, wait- there is one other series . I almost forgot!) I also tend to go back and read through the whole time travel series about every 3rd release..
Again, This is Christian in morality, values, and certain conversations, especially in the later books where there is more interaction with The Church. It is mostly set in a time where Wales was excommunicated from The Church though, so there are no weekly services, etc. There is little doubt of the main characters’ faith, and values, so I’m more than satisfied.
Daughter of Time was free on Kindle, so I checked it out, and was immediately hooked. Meg, American, of Welsh heritage, had married early, made a poor choice, and then lost him to disease. She and her 2 year old, Anna find themselves in 1268 approximately, in the company of the Last Prince of Wales. She remembers snippets of history, and enough of the language from her childhood, to get herself in and out of trouble, fought over by Prince Llwelyn and his rather obnoxious brother, and falling in love with the Prince.
Meg has a hard time adjusting to not just speaking her mind when she has something to contribute, and Llwelyn has a hard time understanding the world she comes from, though he does eventually believe her (partly because she showed up in a car!).
The Story Continues…
After rather abruptly returning to modern times, this time travel series continue with Footsteps in Time , when Meg’s children disappear on the anniversary of Cilmeri, where historically, Prince Llewlyn was betrayed and murdered, ending the independent royal line of Wales, and England gained complete control of that country.
However, Here is where we really start messing with Time, because, if the Prince survives, then everything going forward must be different as well. Meg herself returns to the past in Winds of Time , landing in Scotland, and has a challenging time getting to Wales to reunite with her family.
At this point, the influence of this family from the future really begins to impact the world. They fight for their country and create a haven for Jews, knowing they would soon be expelled from England. (and since, in real life those who bless God’s people are blessed, so why not extend that into fiction?)
History Re-imagined in this Time Travel Series
This is a dramatic history lesson because it pursues the “what if” of history. If only this was different, what then? That domino effect is something that has always fascinated me. How each choice and chance truly impacts the future.
Watching Anna’s courage build was hopeful to me. Watching the different versions of the King Arthur legend, from the different countries, all finding their home in one person was pretty cool too! And watching this family struggle to improve the education and living conditions for those around them, encouraged me so much.
In each book, someone ends up returning to the future, sometimes accidentally, sometimes out of a desperate hope that it’ll work ‘one more time’ and that’s not always safe or easy, as each jump moves a little more into the future, with the powers of government being just a little stronger and more aggressive in their hunt for the time travelers. Another Conservative look at where the future is headed, though that’s just a very minor point.
This time traveler series will always be among the best time travel series ever written!
Young Adult Time Travel Books: Reternity
Reternity is one of the young adult time travel books that are very memorable. A solid Christian youth headed off to college with a science major. Parents who’re concerned how he’ll keep his faith. A top-secret time travel project that complicates his life.
It was beautiful to watch real discussions of faith and science instead of blind defensiveness. And the ending? I can’t talk about that yet. It will leave you thinking, for sure. But it struck the right emotional chords, as I can still remember most of the story in vivid detail.

Evangelical and Slightly Romantic Time Travel Books
This collection of time travel series are evangelical, and most of them serve as witnesses to the future. This first one, though, goes back. Back to Jerusalem in the ’60s. The 0060s, in case you were wondering!
City of God: Time Travel Series Set on Changing History
One time travel device. One Messianic Jewish Archaeologist tired of defending her faith. One Jewish Physicist who is definitely NOT ORTHODOX. One Physicist who seems to have no religious affiliation. Except, he blames the Apostle Paul for spreading Christianity, which allowed science to spread, which caused all kinds of problems… So it’s only logical to go back and kill Paul before it’s too late. Right?
Well, this time travel series blew me away. Someone found this post, and asked me if I’d ever heard of this particular time travel book series, and I hadn’t, but I immediately purchased book one , and fell in love. I’ve finished book 2 , and will read book 3 soon.
Rivka, as an archaeologist, is both living her dream, and living a nightmare. Watching her faith grow as she succeeds, and fails, at many things is pretty awesome. Seeing the early church through contemporary Jewish eyes, both believer and nonbeliever was so cool!

Time Awaits: Sail Through Time With Jack and Company
The best way to be a witness in the future, is to jump there with your very own time-ship. You can do this in Time Awaits , John M. Grier’s Time Travel book series.
In 3012: The Artifact , we start out a thousand years in the future, in a world that has incredible technology, plenty of complacency, no faith, and no children (they’re ‘removed’ before mom even realizes that she’s pregnant, and raised away from the general population).
This future has a very interesting political structure complete with pockets of resistance. We find Jack here, desperately searching for his lost time machine, so he can get home to the 21 st century. He acquires several friends, including Paul the archeologist and Suzi, a hologram built not too far into our future. Together, they wind up on quite an adventure, exploring time and romantic opportunities.
They discover the ‘last holdout’ of Christians in a time (also not TOO far into our future) where they’ve been nearly eradicated. Talk about Christian Time Travel! Watching Jack as he is teaching his 3012 friends Paul and Janet accurate history, and about normal families, and faith, is so cool! It makes me wonder how easily people can coast along with what’s NORMAL, until and unless they discover something they value enough to Fight For.
This is followed by 3012: The Uprising , where Jack goes back to 3012, and finds things are very different! He jumps through time to try to mend the timeline, and, on returning to the future again, quite a battle erupts.
The Prequel, which really can be read first or last, Time Awaits: The Beginning , shows just how Jack acquired his unusual sea-going time machine, and his first adventures with contemporary friends, visiting Savannah Georgia in the 1880s.
Overall, this time travel series is definitely Sci-Fi, Faith-Filled and Young Earth. The few elements of romance are definitely clean, as is the language (as in lack of foul language). If you are a conservative and tend to like Sci-Fi, you’ll likely enjoy this time travel series, and be inspired to stand up for your faith.

One of the Best Time Travel Books: Volition
First, they stole her future, now they’re after her Volition . Accidentally abducted to the future, Andi must choose how to handle living her Christian faith out in very difficult circumstances. Choosing to stay in the future because of the consequences to others if she doesn’t, Andi learns so much about her faith and her convictions.
Putting another’s wellbeing ahead of her own, and dealing with all that comes with that is almost more than anyone bargained for.
As far as books about time travel go, it’s scary how plausible this storyline is!
Whether you like science fiction or not, you will probably like this story. The sci-fi aspect sets the stage, but the storyline is focused more on life situations than anything. While it starts out as anything BUT romantic time travel books, it earns its “Happily Ever After” status.
Books about time travel are one of my favorite subjects, and an unexpected treat coming from this author.
The social-political environment is a logical development, based on what we see around us. I could totally see people in the future “rescuing” people from the past/present. Shows them as benevolent and solves some of the ‘unexpected’ problems created by unbiblical policies.
I’m jealous of some of the more personally practical technological developments (If you’re a woman, you’re likely to be jealous also!).
Most importantly, I was challenged by Andi’s commitment to ‘considering others as more important than yourself’ {Philippians 2:3). If I were in her position, I would want to do what she did for her friend, but I don’t know if I could.
That’s why I love reading so much. I get a chance to practice making the right choice ahead of time. Thinking through the consequences of the good and the not so good decisions.
I received advance access to this time travel fiction from the author, and chose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.
Almost a Time Travel Series
The Revisionary The Rogues are not technically a time travel series, but it still fits here. The Revisionary is responsible for making changes to the law of the ASU. In school as a Revisionary candidate, Portia Abernathy gets to go into simulations (kind of like the holodeck on Star Trek). The target for these simulations is the start of the previous (failed) civilization (the USA).
In each simulation, Portia witnesses various events and interacts with Our Founding Fathers (Washington, Jefferson, etc). She is inspired to make changes in her world, to fight for the right things. This gets her in major trouble with the faculty / government. These guys have fancy “correctives” they like to use on anyone who disagrees with them or tries to persuade others to.
God isn’t mentioned much, but the truth is there, and there are believers, its all in code for safety. Portia is discovering how hard this is going to be. She doesn’t encounter a Bible until book 2 but the words shared in the simulations stick with her.
This ‘nearly’ time travel series will stick with me for a long time. I hope to have Portia Abernathy’s courage! If you’re interested in book 2, click Here.
What Christian Books About Time Travel are Next for You?
In my opinion, the qualities of a good book are well researched/accuracy, entertainment, believability – within the context of the story, and thought-provoking. When you can find that in Christian Time Travel Series, I’m all in! I think these authors managed it very well, how about you?
I don’t know that I could pick out The Best Time Travel Fiction , but I sure had fun building a library of Christian books about time travel, and I have a few more in my TBR pile, and will keep you posted!

- The first season was known as "Anime Oyako Gekijo" (Animated Parent and Child Theatre), and featured stories mainly from the Old Testament (but a few on Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul), as seen by Chris and his friend Joy and the robot Gizmo (a clockwork toy robot). The Book in this season was portrayed as magical, and able to talk.
- The second season was known as "Pasokon Toraberu Tanteidan" (Personal Computer Travel Detectives), and featured along with Old Testament tales an original plot: the search for Chris' dog Ruffles who went missing within the Book. Chris' cousin Uriah now traveled with the second Gizmo (a more sophisticated, competent robot) into the book, while Chris and Joy themselves were relegated to supporting roles. The Book in this season was now connected to a computer, displaying its stories on a monitor, and was shown only for a few moments on the first episode of this season.
- Goofs Throughout season 2, Uri speaks about Ruffles as his dog, although she belongs to Chris.

Totally Weird Christian Video Series You Probably Watched As A Kid
If you grew up going to church, you probably watched a lot of Christian video series. Some were great, like Veggie Tales , but other series were downright strange, following the footsteps of the creepiest Christian education videos for kids . Video series tried to create characters that could best illustrate the moral lessons producers wanted to convey in their work. However, such efforts led to shallow developments and bizarre situations, resulting in lots of Christian video series being relegated to the dusty top shelves of church libraries everywhere.
If you dig through your old stacks of VHS tapes, you may find a few of these strange video series that you watched in Sunday School while your parents were at church services. Now that you've got a few years under your belt, you'll also realize that a few of them were seriously weird and whacky. Check out this list of Christian video series that had some absurd stories and hilarious premises, and vote up the strangest ones.
Stand back, Avengers, the greatest superhero of all time is here to… Use his lightsaber on the bad guys? What? Bibleman started as a ridiculously low budget direct-to-VHS series where you only got one episode at a time. It centered on Bibleman, a purple and yellow colored hero, who worked tirelessly to stop evil villains from getting kids to turn away from God. Sometimes, the bad guys's plans would involve destroying the city, but Bibleman was always more concerned with getting the kids on the right path.
He also used a lightsab - oops, the “sword of the spirit.” Bibleman could totally own Kylo Ren, right? The series ran for five seasons until 2010 and is being relaunched in animated form. Bibleman also featured a lot of horrible puns. After Bibleman completes his transformation sequence (he puts on the "full armor of God"), his sidekick once said, “Now that’s what I call dressed and confessed.”
McGee And Me!
Arguably one of the more successful series, McGee and Me! is difficult to track down these days. The series revolved around Nicholas learning moral lessons with his cartoon friend, McGee. A strange thing is that no one ever comments on McGee's existence, and it’s never explained exactly how he came to life. Was it God? Can McGee really be trusted? Can everyone have a cartoon friend?
The series’ production values were high (at least for a direct-to-VHS Christian series), but its morals were sometimes questionable. For example, take “ The Blunder Years ” episode where Nicholas makes a new friend who wants him to change his whole image. He does this with a pair of sunglasses that somehow activate sweet sax solos and make you feel compelled to wear the most '90s vests imaginable. Sure, Nicholas was being kind of a jerk to his friends, but the way everyone was treating his new look as the worst possible thing ever seemed a bit overblown.
Also, shouldn’t you have more important things to worry about? Like the fact that Nicholas talks to an imaginary cartoon character no one else can see or hear, and that the kid may be in need of some serious help? Oh well, at least the series had some kickin’ '90s power jams .
3-2-1 Penguins!
It isn’t enough to learn lessons about God - you need a group of intergalactic penguins to help! A kid named Jason accidentally smashes a ceramic figure of four penguins in a spaceship that belongs to his mother. Apparently, she’s a space jail warden because those four penguins are real and so is their spaceship! The four shrink the kid and take him on zany adventures to learn moral lessons. The series featured such whacky episodes like “The Amazing Carnival of Complaining,” where the penguins battle against a diabolical interplanetary real estate scheme.
The Christian anime . Back in the '80s, it was decided that the best way to bring the Bible to Japan and reach a large Japanese audience was to create a kids anime. The result of that was Superbook , a time traveling series focused on two kids and their robot encountering all the major bible stories and characters.Time travel problems are thrown out the window, as is the case for many of these series, and the kids blindly interact with history. They even have a sentient robot walking around with them.
The series was animated by the famous Tatsunoko production company, best known for their work on Speed Racer . When it first aired, Superbook reached eight million Japanese viewers and was the third highest rated series in Japan.
The Last Chance Detectives
Putting children in horrific peril and letting them take the law into their own hands is exactly how to teach them about God, right? Last Chance Detectives follows four kids who solve mysteries in the desert town of Ambrosia, Arizona. They operate out of a B-17 Bomber, because that’s totally safe. They crack cases together, such as solving the theft of a giant gorilla. In every episode, these kids are put in terrifying danger, including lead character Mike being kidnapped by crooks and left out to die in the middle of the desert.
Somehow, these kids are never told to shut down their operation by the police. Why? Because hey, it’s just so adorable that these kids break into secret government facilities and nearly spill state secrets to the local media.
The Flying House
You’d be forgiven for thinking there couldn’t be more than one Christian anime series. Why? Because time has all but forgotten that The Flying House exists. Yet another entry in the “Weird Christian Video Series That Feature Time Travel,” this show has one of the most bonkers time travel use in fiction. Ever.
So, these three kids are running from a rainstorm and discover the house of a professor who has an android named Solar Ion Robot (S.I.R. for short, of course). This house has the power to time travel, because why not? But the professor can’t make it work without recreating Benjamin Franklin’s famous lightning experiment. When lightning finally strikes the house, it sends S.I.R. into a rage and everyone on a crash course to the past. The team can’t get home because the professor is an idiot, but it’s all good - they just mindlessly interact with history instead! Unlike Superbook , this series mainly focuses on the New Testament.
This series follows a group of angels in training that battle against demonic fallen angels to save the souls of humanity. Since this series is totally hip and with it, the student angels legit use “wingboards” to fly until they earn their wings. Radical! The whole thing, especially with its subpar CGI, looks like it was ripped from some kid's DeviantArt account.
Present Time
In a post apocalyptic future , a mysterious man sends a package back into the past that allows a kid named Josh to meet characters from the Bible . Wait, what’s the purpose for sending that package from the future? Who cares - Josh just wants to meet important figures from the Bible, like David, Goliath, Paul, and Daniel. Taking these people out of time causes no ill effects to the time stream, meaning Josh basically has more control over the time stream than The Flash has ever had.
The series left on a cliffhanger when Josh discovered the mysterious man who sent him the package was actually a future version of himself. With that knowledge, wouldn’t the timeline be changed? Ah, who cares, let’s bring a lion into the present and hope it doesn’t murder anyone! Yeah!

6 Excellent Bible-based Children’s Series on Amazon Prime
- Michael Foust ChristianHeadlines.com Contributor

1. The Torchlighters: Heroes of the Faith
It may be my personal favorite faith -based kids’ series of all time. Produced by the Christian History Institute, Torchlighters spotlights Christian martyrs, missionaries and leaders from the past 2,000 years. Most episodes last about 30 minutes while teaching the whole family – mom and dad, too – about church history.
The entire Torchlighters set is available on Amazon Prime, with episodes on Corrie ten Boom , Jim Elliot, Eric Liddell, John Bunyan, William Booth, Martin Luther, John Wesley, Adoniram and Ann Judson, Augustine, Amy Carmichael, Richard Wurmbrand, Gladys Aylward, Robert Jermain Thomas, Samuel Morris, Perpetua, William Tyndale and Harriet Tubman. More information: Torchlighters.org .
2. Superbook
Produced by the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the series follows Chris, his friend Joy and a robot named Gizmo as they are transported into biblical times and interact with Old and New Testament figures. Amazon Prime includes the 13 episodes from Season 1, which begins with Lucifer’s fall/Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and ends with the End Times battle with Satan.
Eight of the episodes involve stories from the Old Testament, including Abraham and Isaac, Jacob and Esau, Moses, David and Goliath, and Daniel in the Lion’s Den. Four episodes tell the story of Christ, and one follows the Apostle Paul. Each episode spans about 30 minutes. More information: SuperBook.CBN.com .

3. The Witnesses Trilogy
Made by The Voice of the Martyrs, this unique three-episode saga begins with the birth of Christ but quickly switches to his ministry and then turns to the spread of the Gospel by the Apostles.
Episode 1, “God With Us,” spans the life of Christ. Episode 2, “The Messengers,” tells the story of Acts 1-9 , and Episode 3, “To Every Nation,” follows the text of Acts 10-28 . More information: VisionVideo.com .
All total, The Witnesses Trilogy lasts nearly four hours.

4. Friends and Heroes
Only two episodes from this marvelous 39-episode series are on Amazon Prime, but they’re worth sampling. Friends and Heroes is set in 69-71 A.D. and follows children of the era as they discover the stories of their heroes – that is, the people of the Old and New Testament. Each episode lasts about 25 minutes. More information: FriendsAndHeroes.com .

5. Adventures in Odyssey
I prefer the Focus on the Family audio series, yet the Adventures in Odyssey animated series was pretty good, too. Most of the shows involve moral lessons and not biblical stories, per se, but my children enjoy them. Besides, haven’t you ever wondered what John Avery Whittaker looks like? By my count, all 17 animated episodes are on Amazon Prime. Each one lasts about 28 minutes.
6. Davey and Goliath
This stop-action animated series was produced by the Lutheran Church in the 1950s and 1960s and brought faith -based messages to children through the eyes of a boy named Davey and his talking dog, Goliath. It’s an enjoyable step back in time. Amazon Prime carries about 40 episodes, which span 14 minutes each. More information: DaveyAndGoliath.org .

Ultimate List of Christian TV Shows for Kids on Amazon Prime
The Fervent Mama uses Affiliate Links. See our disclosure policy here .
We are very limited when it comes to screen time around here. We haven’t had cable for years, and it’s been a blessing for our whole family.
A few years ago, we did a complete purge of screens; no televisions in the kid’s rooms, Amazon FreeTime on our Fire Tablets that gives lots of parental controls and sets time limits, limited video games, and electronic time. It literally transformed my kids.
They had so many toys that they never even played with, so many books they never even read, and so much time wasted.
We had begun to even have a little attitude trouble and acting out that I never contributed to screens. But after cutting screen time out, it was evident that it was a contributor because even that changed too!
I have extremely smart kiddos who have wild imaginations. Watching those come alive again was so refreshing.
We slowly started family movie nights and earning screen time here and there, but are very careful with what we allow in our home. Other than family movie nights, screen time and tv shows usually include educational, character building, or religious-themed content.
It makes me happy and my kids enjoy it. Win, win.
Unfortunately, with the condition of our world, we’re having to be very careful with the content that we allow our children to watch and play.
PSA, I’m not sheltering my kids, but as a parent, specifically a Christian parent , I have the right and responsibility to choose how and when my children are exposed to our world, the culture, and the people in it.
While we have a list of shows and networks that we don’t allow in our home, we also have a list of Christian tv shows, clean movies, and streaming apps for kids that we do allow and love!

We’ve seen at least one episode of all of these, but our most favorite ones are usually found on Minno or Yippee. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t have any of the Veggie Tales series. And that includes the classics, or the new ones, or even the spinoffs, like VeggieTales in the House and VeggieTales in the City.
And of course, I have to say this too. We all know that Amazon (and all other streaming services) loves to add/remove content. So, if one of these Christian tv shows for kids that we have listed here is no longer available, please let us know so that we can edit this list!
What Christian tv shows for kids do you love?
Bonus points if you give us more ideas for Christian TV Shows on Amazon Prime!

You forgot Gospel Bill. Joy Junction and some I can’t remember.
I loved Joy Junction
Real long shot here seeing as this would have been 25 or so years ago, but hoping someone might recall a video (series I think) featuring boy and girl (real life acting) that in one video they went down a slide and into the dark, and in another video went through a loose plank in the backyard fence and then into the dark. Each video (from what I recall) seemed to end with them finding paper(s) belonging to the Bible that they’d read and keep and collect. Cannot recall at all if it was animated in the middle of the … Read more »

Ok. So I’m a 30yr old and my sister is 25. We both remember bits of this movie but can’t remember the name… There was a group of kids and they hiked a mountain with at least 1 chaperone, an older guy I think he had a short beard and thick gray hair… there might have been a dog… they learned lessons and sang a couple songs along the way. One of the songs was about the disciples. Each kid held up a disciples name on a card as they sang ” Peter, Andrew, John and James, Philip and Bartholomew….judas … Read more »

Okay this was over a year ago, so I don’t know if you ever found it. But I had this exact thing pop into my head today, and I saw you never got an answer, so I sat and called my sisters, and then my Mom, and we finally sussed this out.
It was Barry McGuire (Bullfrogs and Butterflies), and the video was called “Adventures on Son Mountain”. The song we were trying to remember with the Apostles names was “Choosin’ Friends”, and you can hear it on Spotify .

There was a christian dvd…I think there may have been several in the series…it was of a girl who babysat two children and learned Biblical lessons on their adventures…which is where the video became animated. I’d like to let my other girls see these….thanks!
It’s called secret adventures!
WOW!!!! Thanks so much!
I watched Gospel Bill, Mr. Mustache, and Circle Square.on PTL when I was a kid. There’s one faith-based show out there, though that was never picked up by PTL or Odyssey, and that’s The Good Book, hosted by Robert Morse of How to Succeed in Business and Mad Men fame. The full title was The Good Book Traveling Show, and it was a 1982 kids show about The Bible. It had hobos telling bible stories in the form of skits, and was shown on a UHF channel that had to be unscrambled by a cable box made by a company … Read more »
I forgot to add: The asterisks beside the episodes are what’s on the dvd sold by Amazon.
I need some help. I’m looking for an old, Christian, kids video/movie that had the Marantha! kids version of “I Love You Lord”. I’m pretty sure it had clips of clowns, and a little girl getting ready to have tea with her grandmother. I can’t find it anywhere, and all I have are vague childhood memories of it. It’s probably from the 80s or very early 90s
Oh my gosh YES! I told my mom about this a few days ago and I’ve been searching for it forever because it was so creepy
Does anyone remember a live singing video from the 90s of some kids singing songs while climbing up a mountain? “I have the power” is all my memory will allow me to remember from one of their songs…
That’s “Psalty the Singing Songbook” I believe and it’s from1985. The Camping episode
I’m looking for a show or maybe a film. It was a musical set in a castle I’m pretty sure. There was said to be a dark night/knight coming. I think there was a play on words with the night/knight part. There was a song about God protecting us in the dark. It was either animated or had puppets, but there was a human doing the storytelling. If anyone can help that would be fab
Could it be The Parables of Peter Rabbit: Faith Over Fear? It has the Dark Knight storyline.
Wow you were spot on! Thank you so much! This is amazing to look back on!
I hope someone will remember this! It was real kids, but for some reason, I think I recall a costumed dog. It wasn’t Psalty. I only remember one episode where a little boy and this dog went into this really dark, scary forest. Very Snow White-ish. This DEEP voice was singing “Alone In Briar Woods”. I’ve looked everywhere and can’t figure out what that was!
The Gospel According to St Bernard? Wouldn’t be sure of the exact episode, but it’s one of the series’ I can remember with a costumed dog.
I don’t know if this helps, because it might not have ever have been made into a show, but the details sound like the audio story Nathaniel the Grublet. There’s a song in a deep voice singing about being “Alone in Dire Woods” and Nathanial has a dog companion named Smuggles.
There was a cartoon about a kid who played a board game I think, and he got sucked in to the game. Along the way he was tempted by a slothful character with very tired eyes who tried to get him off the path and eat a lot of candy. Does anyone remember this??
I found it. It’s called Hoomania.
I actually arrived at this website looking for the name of this movie! Thank you!
Long shot – but does anyone remember this old movie or possibly a play:
There were circus clowns, and people dressed up like circus animals (face makeup, costumes). And there was like an evil ring master that tricked one of the clowns to go into show business and at the end the clowns end up being put in a cage
Do you know what this is were they mice? I’ve been trying to think of this!
I’m not sure who else needs this, but I was racking my brain to find Adventures from the book of Virtues. The theme song starts out “Tell me a story”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BO-AGeEbZQw
OH GOODNESS THIS IS MY LAST RESORT! I was born in 92 and there was a movie I would always watch and it was animated and it had an older look to it so probably 80s/90s but basically from what I remember there was a quest that this charcter had to go in the evil castle. And I think either there was a special book or something special that was locked away in the castle. Now the caste was very far away and the character lived in like the woods and he had to cross over a bid desert to … Read more »
I really need help trying to remember this show it was advertised on a bibleman vhs I owned and I found the show one day in a lifeway bookstore probably early 2000s it had a kid and some guy and they fought evil or something sorry I don’t remember much but they had a programmable boomerang and could move it around while it was flying that is sadly all I remember that and that they sold a boomerang with it that looked like the one on the show any help with this would be helpful and for anyone wondering yes … Read more »
I remember this Easter movie where there was a dog being stoned and Jesus saved the dog , I also remember a puppy saying (uncle stinky ) that’s it , then there was a girl caterpillar named caterpi or something.
Hello everyone! Hoping y’all can help. I was born in ‘95, and vaguely remember having VHS show with like two adults, some kids and a fluffy white dog. It was all about Bible stories and bible songs. One of the songs they sang was “everyday, everyday, the children praise the Lord”. I hope someone catches my drift. I need answers 😭 thank you!
What’s the name of the VHS series that talks about a girl (I think named Maya . Real character) along with puppet actors; There’s a Grandpa, Grandson named Dudley I think and his dog Philemon. And the girls dad gets arrested I forgot why and then she meets a Native American named Brave Eagle and he tells the story of Jesus death while in a campfire . Help I can’t find it anywhere
Hope someone can help my white this but there’s a old TV show and I can only remember how the episode will start is that a brother and sister fall in to a old temple and discover a agent book then it cut to them in the future were the sister is a teacher and sends her students to her brother to learn things, then it in the half of the episode they read the agent book of a story whit puppets .
This isn’t a show, but I’m trying to locate a book or two that I read in the mid-90’s, I believe. They were loaned to me briefly and I don’t believe they were new, so they were probably written in the 80’s or early 90’s. I have just a few jumbled memories that I’m hoping will ring a bell for someone. A fantasy land A labyrinth (with a riddle and prime numbers?) A couple of things called “bracts” A bract accidentally getting on a kid’s arm and couldn’t be removed, meaning he had to marry a princess Two non-human creatures … Read more »
Well this is a long shot 😂 But my family and I are driving ourselves crazy trying to remember the name of a Christian kids show/movie that I believe would’ve been made in the 90s. We think the backgrounds were animated but the kids were real. They were racing on exercise balls toward the edge of a cliff 🫣😂 I remember a girl with dark hair saying…”I’m winning…I’m winning…I’m NOT winning!” If anyone understands this reference I will be shocked but I am desperate lol!
I am trying to find a series of music videos, there were real kids. One song was fruit of the spirit, another one was about the alphabet, others had songs about the bible. And numbers….Watched it on one of the children christian networks in 2011 ish on Mondays and Fridays. Though the videos I think were made earlier than 2010…. something like…. I have a bowl of ice cream” then they keep putting toppings in , but they are the “fruit of the spirit” one song is zoom zoom…..I believe.
There was a movie or short film of a fox as a dj in a basement that broke a window it was Christian based just can’t for the life of me remember what it was?!??
There’s a VHS I watched a long time ago about children praising and dancing. I know there are several children’s groups that do this, but it was a video that really impacted me. I remember one of the theme songs was “Andy Park – The River is Here”, and the children were playing, praising and dancing in the park, blowing giant soap bubbles, and swinging hula hoops. There were also some who played flutes. At the end there was a part where they got together and taught how to pray asking God to forgive their sins and prayed to give … Read more »
I have dilemma always pop this on my head since then and wanna know the title. Right now. I am 24 yo. And I remember the last time it was shown on free TV (Zoe tv channel) here on Philippines was at 2000s. Maybe about 12 yo or younger I am. The show is kinda how to be a good person. Kinda drama musical.. There this mascot human sized Dog and at some time in the middle of problem or climax of episode they will sing a song about the situation. Then the setting is like on a studio because … Read more »

I’m trying to find clips of Kids on the move (KOTM), where they would have lots of kids on a gameshow like stage and do activities and stuff. Does anyone know which TV program that was from?
I’m not sure what TV Program it was exactly but it was from Church on the Move in Tulsa, Oklahoma and there was Dry Gultch camp where they filmed things there too
There was a show I remember watching at Sunday school about a group of kids who met up and a woman ran the group. They had a robot and some guy showed up and the robot offered him a jacket and shoes. I remember the guy wanted to keep the jacket at the end of the show. There was a character who was a rapper and I remember him wearing a CD as a necklace. Anyone remember a show like this? It has several episodes and movies. One movie featured a dark man with a messed up eye. The other … Read more »
That’s Commander Kellie and the SuperKids! One of the best Christian series ever! It was produced by Kenneth Copeland Ministries, and has 5 episodes. The first 4 were done in the 90s, and the last one was in 2013 (wasn’t as good though).
Y’all I need help.. I can’t remember the name of the show but there was a little boy and I think a donkey or a camel and it told biblical story’s please help me find it..
It was a camel, I had been looking for the same thing for years. Because I wanted my kids to watch it. It was called Greatest Heroes and legends of the Bible. I had to come back and post this because I had been searching for it, for a long time.
It used to be on tv all the time, and used to love watching it on saturdays and sundays.
I was looking for a movie that has to do with the nativity scene.. In general its very similar to the 2017 nativity movie Star where its told through the animals. This one is much older though. It has a camel and a cow i think and they tell a story that flashes back to the stubborn young version of the camel. And the story is about how him missing out on something he really wanted allowed him the chance to witness the birth of christ.
I have been searching for the title of the show or movie from when I was a child, I remember watching Mcgee and me, biblical, gerbert and doughnut man. But I want to find one and the only scene I remember was an animation of these kids taking a journey with this talking lion that wore clothes and there was a scene were they were discussing false idols and the lion was on this rainbow thing playing rock music and there were pillars of these statues of the lion and the kids were worried and said there are things called … Read more »

Are you thinking of the Kingdom Chums – The Original Top Ten? They have it on YouTube!!
THANK YOU!!!! IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YEARS TO FIGURE THIS OUT!! NOW THAT I HAVE THE NAME I CAN FIND IT!!
Hi, it’s called The Kingdom Chums
There was a movie I remember vaguely at a SBC youth group in the 90s. I only remember one scene, it was these teens that were on an elevator heading to hell. I think the elevator was made out of prison bars, lots of red and smoke everywhere and for some reason I think they were all crying? I think it scared me…the whole point of the movie that I can remember is about going to hell, literally. Anyone know a name or am I going crazy?
Anyone remember Puppet Sunday School
Anyone remember a show that had a older lady, teen boy and girl, and they sang, “scoop plop seed drop, over it up, give it a stomp.” Talking about it with the family and none of us can remember the name!!
What happened to the show “Best Buddies” about a family of children
Does anyone remember the vhs series of puppets and humans in a village singing and learning about god and the Bible and how to be good? That’s pretty much all I remember if anyone else remember and can help??
Sounds a lot like to me like Quigley’s Village. Real good one from back in the day!
There’s this cartoon I saw as a kid. I got it from a Christian book store Idk if it was a superhero or a villain and his sidekick, but they would always take this girl from her house at night and go on adventures??? The guy had a HUGE head and chin but thats like all i know… The guy was either red, green, or purple. And his sidekick was short and stumpy
PLEASE HELP
its called the tick
Hello iv been trying to find this movie for soo long. Its about all these little animals planting food for a harvest party i think, but every night something steals from there crops. Near the end of the movie they find out it is a skunk who is stealing the food to provide for his kids, because his skunk wife died in a house fire.

Douglas Hirt
Doug's Cradleland Chronicles is a great envisioning of life at the beginning of mankind's time on earth.
RiverOak, who published this series, is trying some innovative things with podcasting for these books.
Randall Ingermanson
I wrote about Randy in the Christian Science Fiction section, but since several of his novels are more accurately time travel, I've put them here.
Transgression won a Christy award for excellence in Christian fiction.
Gilbert Morris
Gilbert Morris is a well-known author of Christian historical novels, but he has also written speculative fiction. Though there are several genres represented here I've put them all under this one category.
The Omega Trilogy is technothriller fiction that he co-wrote with Lynn and Alan Morris. The Far Fields is a fantasy series co-written with Robert Funderburk, that is now out of print. The other series are all for young adults. (Complete series not shown)
Nancy Moser
Nancy is best known for her women's fiction and thrillers, but two of her novels are clearly speculative. Time Lottery won the Christy Award for the visionary category. I was honored to be her editor.
Brian Reaves
Brian is a young writer with a bright future in Christian speculative fiction. His Portal is a self-published novel about friends who invent a time machine and try to repair their past mistakes.
I think Brian's real forte is in supernatural thrillers but so far none of those novels of his has been published.
Jeremy Robinson
Jeremy Robinson writes time travel novels with a great premise. His first novel, at least, is one of the fine POD (print-on-demand) titles I'm proud to promote.
Note, though, that he tends to use profanity in his fiction.
Rick Sutcliffe
Rick's Web site, Arjay Books , attracts lots of hits and scores very well on Google searches. He has some good information on Christian SF and fantasy novels there. Rick is Canadian and is a professor of mathematics and computing science at the university level.
His Interregnum series is "alternate-history Irish-flavoured Christian science fiction" that "deals with a variety of technology and ethical issues in thought-provoking plots set on alternate earths." How cool is that?
As far as I know, Rick's series is the only Christian alternate history fiction on this list. Certainly it is one of the few, and I applaud his efforts both as a novelist and a Web advocate for Christian speculative fiction.
Note that the The General and The Nexus are available only as e-books. The first three are are also available through Amazon as print versions. Volumes 6 and 7 are in development.

Scripturally, the Bible does not have any definitive answer about whether time travel is possible or impossible for humans. Time travel has interested humans for generations and is a popular science fiction theme. As far as we can tell, man exists in a linear timeframe. The Bible indicates that every person has a time appointed for his death ...

While this might not be a literal type of "time travel," it would be fair to say that God does not experience time in the same narrow way that human beings do (2 Timothy 1:9; Genesis 1:1; 2 Peter 3:8). There are also instances in the Bible where men are granted visions of the future (Revelation 1:9-11; Daniel 7:13-14). One could argue ...
