48-Hour Itinerary

48 Hours in Montevideo: The Ultimate Itinerary

day tours montevideo

As a capital city, Montevideo can be surprisingly quiet and relaxing. A visitor could spend all their time lounging on the city's beaches or learning about Uruguayan art, history, and culture in its 50-plus museums. Leisurely strolls on the Rambla could give way to afternoons of tapas and medio y medios (wine cocktails), leading to evenings of locally-sourced steak and dulce de leche desserts.

All of these activities would be indicative of the pace of the city, but not provide a well-rounded introduction to its full personality. This is also the place where candombe drumming fills the streets, the country’s most prestigious performing arts shows grace Teatro Solís’ stage, and one of the world’s oldest tango bars still plays sultry tunes. It is a city whose residents invent and repurpose, where a market turns into a shopping mall, a pharmacy becomes a café, and a prison turns into an art exhibition space.

Should you only have 48 hours here, it's possible to see both the laid-back and the high energy nature of the city. Given that most activities are a short walk or a 10-minute cab ride away from each other, it might be easier than you think.

Day 1: Morning

10 a.m.: A 45-minute Uber from Carrasco International Airport will place you at your lodging, the Alma Histórica Boutique Hotel . A renovated mansion on Plaza Zabala, each of the Alma’s 15 rooms were inspired by different Uruguayan culture figures, like the feminist poet Delmira Agustini and the tango singer Julio Sosa. When not cruising around the city, take a nap on Egyptian cotton sheets or head to the rooftop terrace for unobstructed views of the plaza. Ask for early check-in, but if that isn't possible, store your bags with the concierge.

11 a.m.: Walk to breakfast at Jacinto . Run by Lucía Soria of MasterChef fame, the restaurant's attached café has espresso-based beverages, fluffy croissants, creamy pavlovas, and creative salads like kale with mole eggs and almonds. Afterwards, wander Cuidad Vieja's alleyways, or go straight to Plaza Independencia. Take a picture with the Puerta de la Ciudadela (City Gate), the last remaining structure from the original wall around Montevideo. Check out the Tango Museum in Palacio Salvo or visit the mausoleum of national hero General José Artigas. Stop by Teatro Solís , Uruguay's premiere theatre, and purchase tickets for that evening’s show.

Day 1: Afternoon

2 p.m.: Walk three blocks from Teatro Solís to the Rio de la Plata to meander along the Rambla, the longest sidewalk in the world. Running 13.7 miles, strolling it offers the perfect introduction to Montevideo, as everyone comes here to bike, laze on the beach, and meet with friends. Drinking mate (a highly caffeinated tea) while overlooking the river is a quintessential Montevidean activity. (Locals will generally share mate if you ask politely, but be sure to finish the whole cup since only taking a sip is considered rude.) Walk about 40 minutes until you reach El Tinkal , a bar with beachfront views and one of the best chivitos (steak mozzarella sandwiches) in town.

4 p.m.: If you want to walk more, continue along the Rambla to Ramírez Beach, then on to Punta Carretas Lighthouse for one of the best views of the city's shoreline. Afterwards, walk to The Lab Coffee Roasters for specialty coffee expertly prepared in a chemex or siphon. Alternatively, take an Uber to Pittamiglio Castle, the former home and passion project of the mysterious architect Humberto Pittamiglio. With 23 towers, 54 rooms, extremely narrow passageways, and stairways to nowhere, the castle has many legends surrounding it. Take a tour to learn about its history, symbols, and tales—including one that claims it once contained the Holy Grail.

Day 1: Evening

6 p.m.: Hop in an Uber and head to the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Contemporary Art Space), an exhibition center housed in what was formerly Uruguay’s oldest prison. The EAC contains multimedia installations, graffiti murals, and rotating exhibits in cells-turned-mini galleries. Some of the works incorporate pieces of the old prison, like the giant yellow hands mural that reaches skyward from a cellblock window.

7 p.m.: Return to your hotel to change before heading to Teatro Solís (wear semi-formal attire). Admire the theatre’s Neoclassical architecture and lush inner trappings, like the 50-bulb Baccarat glasswork chandelier and ornate ceiling moldings. Whatever the show—a concert, opera, ballet, or play—expect it to be of the highest caliber, not only because of the theatre’s international prestige, but also because of its highly discerning audience. (Italian tenor Enrico Caruso was supposedly once booed here after not delivering a high note on pitch.)

10 p.m.: Revel in your post-show memories as you walk to dinner at La Fonda . Highlighting local and regional ingredients, the menu changes daily, though you can expect dishes such as house-made pasta, risotto with asparagus, grilled fish, and lamb. Pair your meal with a wine cocktail, like a sparkling white with passionfruit juice. From La Fonda, it’s only a two-block walk back to your hotel and a sound night’s sleep. However, if you want to check out the nightlife scene, head to Baker’s Bar for creative cocktails. If you prefer tango and celebrity sightings, go to Tango Bar El Haucha , a bar older than the country of Uruguay itself.

Day 2: Morning

9:30 a.m.: Wake up, pack a beach bag, then walk to breakfast at La Farmacia Café . Formerly a pharmacy, the eatery serves gouda pesto panini, parfaits with apple and kiwi, avocado toast with microgreens, and specialty coffee from local roaster Seis Montes. Take your time while eating, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cuidad Vieja in the morning.

11 a.m.: Head to Full Sailing at Carrasco and Punta Gorda Nautical Club to rent a kayak, SUP or windsurfing board, or a small boat. Spend an hour on the water, then sunbathe on the white sands of Playa Verde. If you only want to relax by the water and prefer a closer beach, go to Pocitos instead. Just over a mile long and lined with skyscrapers, this beach is wide with fine sand. You'll have plenty of space to place a towel down without being too close to your neighbors. Read your favorite book, jump in the water, or join a volleyball game.

Day 2: Afternoon

1 p.m.: Have lunch at Sinergia FoodSpot , a sleek industrial-style food court, co-working office, and cultural space all under one roof. Order Chepi’s fondue bread bowl as an appetizer, and La Vaca Negra’s succulent secret pork with lemon cream as a main. Pair them with a fresh-squeezed juice, then finish with a coffee from Café de Vita and alfajores from La Petite Patisserie de Flor. Afterwards, head to one of Montevideo’s many museums. If you're interested in how marijuana became legalized here, check out the Museo del Cannabis . If you prefer art, go to the Blanes Museum to admire the work of Juan Manuel Blanes, Uruguay’s most famous portrait artist.

4 p.m.: Depending on which museum you’re coming from, walk or take an Uber to Avenida Tristán Narvaja for the most famous street fair in Montevideo. Only happening on Sundays, it’s a great place to pick up unique souvenirs like antiques, curios, books, and vintage clothing. If you're here another day of the week, go to the Mercado del Puerto instead to browse leather goods and handicrafts, see street performers, and admire the market's historic wrought iron structure.

Day 2: Evening

6 p.m: Learn about Uruguay’s wine by doing a tasting at Montevideo Wine Experience, a small wine bar with an English-speaking sommelier. Try their wine-based cocktails or ask them to recommend different reds or whites based on your preferences. Though the owners have a list of credentials to their names—one of them comes from a family of pioneering Uruguayan winemakers and another is a nationally-known sommelier—the place has no pretension. Take advantage of their well-priced bottles and purchase a few gifts to take home.

7 p.m.: Drop off your purchases at your hotel, then go to the Palermo or Barrio Sur neighborhoods to experience live candombe music. Originally started by enslaved people in Uruguay to celebrate and remember their roots, candombe is now an art form, played and danced to throughout the country and recognized by UNSESCO as an intangible cultural heritage practice. Comparsas (troupes of candombe drummers) practice each weekend in these neighborhoods as a testament to Uruguay’s past and in preparation for the city's two-month-long Carnival celebrations.

9 p.m.: For dinner, treat yourself to one of the country’s signature experiences: asado (barbeque). Dine at La Otra , a classic parilla (steakhouse), and begin your meal with grilled provolone cheese sprinkled with oregano and an order of crispy sweetbreads with a hint of lemon. Bite into a juicy bife de lomo (tenderloin steak) or a bife de ancho (prime rib) complemented by buttery mashed potatoes. Have a final glass of wine, then it’s off to bed and onto the next destination.

Old Town, Montevideo by Delphinidaesy

Visit the Old Town of Montevideo

The town of Montevideo is split between the old and the new town. While the new town gets crowded during the day with office workers and shoppers, the old part is a quiet area, mainly pedestrian, aimed for tourism.

In this area, you will find a few souvenir shops, cafe, terraces, and local little shops where to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

Walk around to admire the beautiful street art and the old buildings until you reach the port and the main square where you will find the “Mercado del Puerto”.

Guided Walking City Tours

To fully embrace the essence of Montevideo, join a guided walking city tour. This private city tour provides an intimate look at the city’s diverse neighbourhoods, from the bustling Mercado del Puerto to the quaint streets of Ciudad Vieja. Led by a local expert, you’ll learn about the city’s history, and experience its vibrant culture firsthand.

Montevideo Asado by Ostrosky Photos

Eat at the Mercado del Puerto Montevideo

Once the main fruits and vegetable market in Uruguay, the Mercado del Puerto is now hosting a series of touristic restaurants cooking up traditional Uruguayan “parrilla” (meat barbecue).

If you have never tried this typical meal, head towards the port and enter the cover market around lunchtime. You will be invited to sit at any of the restaurants and choose from a large menu of poultry, meat and fish.

We would recommend choosing the beef (if you are not vegetarian), as the Uruguay steak is one of the best we have ever tasted!

Montevideo Landmark Near the Beach

Stroll along The Ramblas

After the market, head back walking through the streets towards the Ramblas. This 22 km long pedestrian promenade surrounds the city along the Rio de La Plata.

On weekends, if the weather is good, the ramblas gets crowded with local runners, cyclists and roller-bladers. It is a beautiful part of Montevideo to spend some time. Here, the beaches “Playa Ramirez” or “Playa de los Pocitos” are clean and enjoyable for a bit of a chill-out time.

To travel along the Ramblas we would recommend renting a bike so you can cover longer distances and enjoy the track at your own pace.

Psst! Most hostels offer rental bike for free or for a small fee, but you can also find professional rental companies in the city, like this Full day rental bike for €15. You can also take this 3-hour bike tour of the city if you want to combine both cycling and guide tour of montevideo.

Chill at the beach

While these beaches may not rank as Uruguay’s finest, they provide a delightful retreat, especially during the summer when the city’s streets simmer under high temperatures.

A top tip for beachgoers : Montevideo’s coastline faces the estuary of the Rio de la Plata, resulting in waters that may appear murky. Rest assured, these waters are clean, but if you prefer, you can enjoy a refreshing day by sticking to the sand.

Playa Ramirez, known for its vibrant atmosphere and close proximity to the city centre, is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. It’s an ideal place for a leisurely stroll along the shore, sunbathing, or enjoying a picnic with a view of the serene waters.

Playa de los Pocitos, on the other hand, is renowned for its urban charm. This beach is surrounded by a lively neighbourhood, offering a range of cafes and restaurants where you can indulge in local cuisine while enjoying the seaside ambiance. The sandy shores of Pocitos are perfect for those looking to relax, play beach volleyball, or simply soak in the sun.

Psst ! The Montevideo Letters are found on the east side of Playa de los Pocitos!

Admire Street Art in Montevideo

Montevideo’s vibrant street art scene is a dynamic and colourful reflection of the city’s cultural pulse. For years, the city’s walls have served as a canvas for artists, with murals stretching from one corner to another. These works range from intricate, politically charged pieces to simpler forms of graffiti, each telling a story and marking its presence in the barrios.

In 2014, Montevideo underwent a significant transformation in its approach to street art. The city implemented a ban on indiscriminate graffiti, carving out designated areas for artists to express their creativity. This regulation, while not universally adhered to, has led to the emergence of various open-air street art galleries across the city, turning Montevideo into a haven for street art enthusiasts.

The Espacio de Arte Contemporaneo, a key cultural hub, is surrounded by some of the city’s most impressive street art. Here, the walls are adorned with vibrant murals that showcase the talents of local and international artists. Free entrance.

For those keen to explore Montevideo’s street art scene, there are numerous spots across the city where remarkable artworks can be discovered. From hidden alleyways to prominent public spaces, these murals offer a glimpse into the artistic soul of Montevideo.

One day in Montevideo - the Llamadas

Experience The Llamadas in Montevideo

Montevideo is renowned for hosting the world’s longest Carnival celebrations, spanning over 40 days. The Uruguayan capital comes alive with an array of street shows and vibrant parades. A highlight of this period is in early February when the “Llamadas” parade takes place, a magnificent tribute to Uruguay’s African heritage and the rhythms of “Candombe.” This unique aspect of the carnival, steeped in cultural significance, unfolds in the streets and can be enjoyed without any charge.

What are the Llamadas?

The Llamadas, rooted in the neighbourhoods of Barrio Sur and Palermo, celebrate Candombe – a music and dance form developed by African slaves in the 17th century. Recognized as a cultural heritage of Uruguay, Candombe is characterized by African dance and drum rhythms originally used for communication. Today, it serves as a powerful medium for commemorating and connecting with African heritage and history in Uruguay.

The Llamadas parade is a distinctive experience, far removed from the more familiar samba parades of places like Rio. Here, the focus is on communal history and cultural expression rather than just aesthetic display. Each comparsa (group) in the parade narrates a story through its ensemble, comprising a Cuerda de Candombe (a group of 20 to 30 drummers playing three types of drums), flag bearers, carriers of giant celestial symbols, dancers (las Mulatas), an elder male figure (El Escobero), an elder female figure (la Mama Vieja), and a medicine man (El Gramillero).

Al compás del tamboril Las Llamadas Carnaval

How to buy tickets for the Llamadas of Montevideo?

Unfortunately, tickets for the Llamadas cannot be purchased online. They go on sale three days before the event at ABITAB stores, with prices ranging from €5.50 to €20. If you’re unable to get tickets in advance, there are two alternatives:

  • Book a Balcony : Local residents often open their homes to tourists, offering a bird’s-eye view of the parade, complete with a BBQ and drinks. This option, while pricier, provides a unique vantage point for the festivities.
  • Free Viewing : You can also opt to watch the parade for free from the streets. While this means you might be standing in less comfortable positions, like leaning against a window or railing, it allows you to fully immerse in the carnival’s lively atmosphere, amidst the crowd and the occasional wafts of cigarette smoke and wine – all part of the authentic Carnival experience in Uruguay.

If your visit to Montevideo doesn’t coincide with the Carnaval season, don’t miss the chance to explore the Museo del Carnaval. This museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, costumes, drumming traditions, and stories of Uruguay’s Carnival. It’s an ideal spot to immerse yourself in the cultural richness of this celebrated event. The museum operates Monday through Friday, from 11 am to 5 pm, with an entry fee of UR$120 per person. To plan your visit, the museum’s location can be found here.

Alternatively, head to Barrio Sur every Sunday in the late afternoon. Here, drummers gather to play this enchanting music.

Sunday only: Tristán Narvaja Street Market

The Tristán Narvaja Street Market in Montevideo is a vibrant, bustling hub of activity and culture, offering an authentic slice of local life. Every Sunday, from 9am to 4pm, the streets in the Cordón area come alive with this traditional market, which is a staple for both locals and tourists. Stretching for several blocks, it’s one of the largest and most famous street markets in Uruguay.

As you wander through the market, you’ll find an eclectic mix of items for sale. From antiques, books, and vintage records to handmade crafts, clothing, and household items, there’s a treasure for everyone. It’s a paradise for collectors and bargain hunters, with the opportunity to uncover unique finds and souvenirs.

For those planning to visit, arriving early is recommended to avoid the larger crowds and fully enjoy the market’s offerings. Avoid arriving late in the afternoon as the stalls start closing from 3pm. Also, most stalls only accept cash.

The Best Day Trips from Montevideo

Countryside day trip

If you visit Uruguay , you will most likely want to stay in the capital, Montevideo . There are plenty of things to do there, but you might miss out on some unforgettable experiences that you can only have outside of the buzz of the city. If you don’t have enough time to spend a night exploring the rest of the country, you can rent a car and do a day trip to one of these fantastic locations.

1. atlántida.

Atlantida, Uruguay

This is a beautiful seaside resort in the department of Canelones, just an hour’s drive from Montevideo. Atlántida is home to beautiful beaches that you can enjoy during the morning and the afternoon; finishing the day watching the sunset on the beach is a spectacle not to be missed. It’s a great place to get in touch with nature, not too far from the city. There are numerous restaurants and the whole town has a very cozy and familiar ambiance, perfect for visitors. You must visit the main church, for its unique design makes it a Uruguayan architectural landmark.

2. Pueblo Edén

Old railroad at Pueblo Edén

This town is perfect for a one-day trip, as it is very small but still worth visiting. As you enter Pueblo Edén, driving through a mountain range, you will feel like you are being transported to a different world, yet are only two hours from the capital. There are signs every few blocks reminding you of the nature of the place: “This is a tranquil town,” “Go slowly, don’t rush,” and “Here we take life very calmly. Enjoy this place.” You will probably encounter more animals than people, as it seems like it’s siesta time 24/7. Walk around the town with only 80 inhabitants, visit the beautiful and clean main square, and have a delicious meal in the only restaurant in town before heading back.

3. Piriápolis

Piriapolis promenade

This is a bigger seaside city with plenty of things to do during the day and is less than two hours’ drive away. Visit its gorgeous beaches, walk around the promenade and enjoy great ice cream. Have some nice seafood in one of the many restaurants around the promenade. There are also two hills, one that you can go up by cableway, called Cerro San Antonio, and another that is easy enough for kids to hike up, called Cerro Pan de Azúcar. It takes a couple of hours to climb Pan de Azúcar, but the striking view is totally worth it. There is also an old castle near Piriápolis that is open for visits.

Visit a vineyard close to Montevideo

There are a number of vineyards where you can book tours to explore the landscape and surroundings, learn secrets and history about particular ways of wine making, and of course taste the selection of wines. Some of the most famous ones, no further than 40 minutes away from Montevideo, are: Juanicó, De Lucca, Bodega Artesana, Bodega Bouza, and Stagnari. Ask about their restaurants and complete your day with a nice traditional meal to complement the wine.

5. Parque Lecocq

Parque Lecocq is a 120-acre natural reserve that you can visit to see 33 different species of native and exotic animals from all over the world, some in their natural habitats and others enjoying the big open spaces. The exotic animals were brought to Parque Lecocq from other small zoos, where they couldn’t have access to the big spaces they need. Visiting the park is a joyful experience, especially for children, as you can see more than 500 healthy, happy animals who found their home here. What’s more, it’s only a 30 minute drive from the city.

6. Nueva Helvecia

This town—an hour-and-a-half from Montevideo—was founded by mainly Swiss immigrants, and is one of the most popular areas in the country to buy excellent quality cheese! True to its origins, this town is also renowned for amazing beer and sausages, and even has their own Beer festival once a year where people dance in traditional costumes. Walking along the cobbled streets, with old streetlights, passing through the main square is a walk back to the past. Forget you’re in Uruguay and have some local beer and sausages, or try some amazing fondues in one of the many bars and restaurants in the area.

Ride on horseback in a countryside farm

There are many touristic farms close to Montevideo, where you can book a horse riding or hiking tour for the day, and finish with strictly Uruguayan traditional food (think proper Grandmas’ recipes). Some of these are Finca Piedra, Estancia Don Miguel, El Galope, El Retoño, Renacimiento, but there are plenty more. Do some research and pick your favorite, and don’t forget to call in advance to book your reservations, so you are sure that there is space for you in the restaurant and to go horse riding. They usually have very tame horses for kids or unexperienced riders to go on, so don’t be scared to feel like a gaucho for a day.

4 Best Experiences In Montevideo, Uruguay

U ruguay is not exactly your typical vacation destination. It is not nearly as well known as, say, Argentina (hello fabulous Buenos Aires) or Brazil (hello carnival). Both countries are well-traveled tourist destinations in South America. But to tell you the truth, with all Uruguay has to offer, especially its capital Montevideo, I’m rather surprised it’s not on more travelers’ radars.

While living in Santiago, Chile, I traveled a lot. After spending some time in fabulous Buenos Aires, I learned of a ferry that sailed from Buenos Aires to Montevideo. It arrived in Montevideo in under 3 hours and seemed like a no-brainer to get to explore a new country for a long weekend.

I spent 4 awesome days in the lovely capital of Uruguay. Here, I’ll share with you the best experiences you can have while visiting this underrated city. And if you find yourself in Buenos Aires with a few extra days on your hand, check out that ferry and get yourself to Montevideo. You won’t be disappointed.

1. Take A Free Walking Tour

Free walking tours are some of my most favorite things to do in any city I travel to. Why? Well, first, they’re free. It’s my favorite word when it comes to traveling. Second, they are a great way to orient yourself in the city.

I like to take these walking tours as soon as I can upon arriving. This way, I get the lay of the land and know the areas I’d like to return to and the attractions I’d like to visit later and explore more.

In Montevideo, there are a handful of free walking tours you can choose from. Most tours meet in Plaza Independencia. Your tour operator will let you know how to spot them. Usually, the guide will be holding a colored flag or they might wear a brightly colored t-shirt. If you see a big group of foreigners gathered together on the plaza, that’s probably your group.

It’s a good idea to sign up for the tour, however, if you happen to just show up, they aren’t likely to turn you away. The tours are usually about 3 hours and you will be walking everywhere, so ensure you have comfortable footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather that day.

In Montevideo, your tour will take you to the top spots in the city. These include the Ciudadela Gate, Artigas Mausoleum, and the Solis Theater. Along the way, you’ll learn all about Uruguayan history, culture, and traditions. Your guide will also (if you ask) tell you about local restaurants and bars to visit to get a real feel for the city.

Pro Tip: While it says it’s free (and that’s my favorite word), it is customary to tip your tour guide if you enjoyed your experience. Be sure you have some local cash on you to leave a “thank you” at the end of the tour.

2. Eat All The Beef

As one of the top five beef-producing countries in the world, if you’re going to eat beef anywhere, Uruguay is the place to do it. Believe it or not, I was a vegetarian when I lived in South America (no small feat on this meat-heavy continent). But, I made sure I got myself a nice, juicy steak to see what all the fuss was about.

Uruguay’s climate and mostly flat landscape means the cows can graze freely, resulting in meat that is very high-quality, tender, and tasty. Uruguay is also the only country in the world that has a computerized traceable system, which means buyers know exactly where their meat is coming from.

One of the most popular ways to enjoy this beef is with a traditional Uruguayan parrilla. A parrilla is a barbecue style that is found in many South American countries. Using a metal grill, which is placed over firewood, all sorts of meats and cuts are grilled to perfection.

There are several steakhouse parrillas to choose from in Montevideo. Because the quality of the meat is so superb, it will be hard to make a bad choice. But the place in which I enjoyed my first steak in decades is called El Fogon . There you can get a full parrilla consisting of several cuts and styles of beef and other meats. This is huge and will be best shared. They also offer seafood and pasta dishes.

Pro Tip: Be sure to complete your meal with a glass of Tannat wine. Tannat is the most widely grown grape in Uruguay. It’s a lovely, full-body wine best enjoyed with, well, steak.

3. Shop At The Flea Market

If you happen to be in Montevideo on a Sunday (try to be in Montevideo on a Sunday), do not miss the giant flea market spanning several blocks. Tristán Narvaja Street Market is the biggest market in all of Uruguay. Locals and tourists alike flock to the Cordon neighborhood to explore the sprawling market.

This is not your typical tourist haunt. You will not likely find tacky souvenir trinkets or t-shirts. Instead, this is really more of an authentic flea market. There are antiques, some in brick-and-mortar stores, some that are set-up stalls on Sundays. You’ll browse through streets filled with furniture, books, artwork, jewelry, fruits, vegetables, and everything in between.

This market is a great way to experience the local life of Montevideo as not just tourists shop here. It’s great for people watching and soaking up the culture. There’s also lots of street food on offer, so come around lunch time and plan to spend a lazy afternoon there. Or, if you’re on the hunt for something special, get there early.

4. Enjoy A Beach Day

Remember that ferry I told you about? It runs on the Rio de la Plata, an estuary that empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean borders Uruguay and Montevideo is situated right along the coast. So, while you’ve probably not heard too much about the lively beaches of Uruguay, they exist, and you don’t have to go far to find them.

If I can manage it, I like to save the last few of any big trip to just relax. No more sightseeing and running around and trying to fit everything in. The hope is that I have fit everything in and now I can breathe a sigh of relief and take in the beautiful waters and gorgeous scenery of wherever I am.

There are several beaches you can check out in Montevideo. Many of these can be reached by using the great bus system in the city. The beach I enjoyed the most was Playa Ramirez. It’s quite close to the center of Montevideo where you are likely to stay. Playa Ramirez is popular with locals and tourists alike.

There’s some great people watching and shell finding. As you walk along the sand, you will find people playing volleyball and soccer, or practicing yoga. This is not a quiet beach, so be sure you’re ready for fun (probably loud) music, children playing and shouting, and vendors hawking — but usually with yummy food.

Whether you’re headed to Uruguay or you’ve got a few extra days in Buenos Aires to head to Montevideo, your visit there will be full of fun adventures. Try the steak Uruguay is famous for, shop at the unique flea market, familiarize yourself with the city, and enjoy an exciting day on the beach.

Atp barcelona day 2 predictions including sebastian baez vs matteo arnaldi.

  • April 15, 2024

Matteo Arnaldi BNP Paribas Open-Day 2 Indian Wells

Day 2 at the ATP Barcelona Open will be overshadowed by the return of 12-time champion, Rafael Nadal . We predict his match, and others, in a separate article . Who will potentially make it to the next round from the other matches?

ATP Barcelona Day 2 Predictions

Dusan lajovic vs diego schwartzman.

Head–to–Head: Lajovic 3 vs 3 Schwartzman

Ordinarily this should be a walkover for Dusan Lajovic against an erstwhile out-of-form Diego Schwartzman but the Serb’s current poor form has coincided with the Argentine’s seeming resurgence.

Both players have traded their head-to-head on all surfaces and on clay but on the back of two recent wins, Schwartzman should be confident of grinding out a win against a familiar opponent. Prediction: Schwartzman in 3

Borna Coric vs Facundo Diaz Acosta

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Borna Coric is the better and more experienced player on this surface but he’s played only twice on clay this season and lost his most recent game. Facundo Diaz Acosta on the other hand is on a 11-6 record this year. He won the Challenger title in Montevideo to add to his maiden title on tour in Buenos Aires .

Diaz Acosta will certainly be looking to consolidate on his progress this season and he stands a chance to win this if he puts his best foot forward. Prediction: Diaz Acosta in 3

Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Nick Hardt

Nick Hardt is on a remarkable 22-5 win-loss record on clay this season. There is no reason he shouldn’t be confident taking this game to Tomas Martin Etcheverry. The Argentine only managed to win a single game as he was comprehensively outclassed in Monte Carlo by eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Hardt will make this hard for the Argentine, but Etcheverry hasn’t lost consecutive matches on the dirt this season.  Back the  more experienced player to outclass the emerging Dominican star. Prediction: Etcheverry in 3

Sebastian Baez vs Matteo Arnaldi

Sebastian Baez is currently experiencing a regression after a ten-match winning streak earned him titles in Rio and Santiago. He capitulated against Jan-Lennard Struff in Monte Carlo after going a set up and remains to be seen what version steps on court against a refreshed Matteo Arnaldi. The Italian having benefitted from Arthur Cazaux’s retirement in their first-round encounter.

As doubts linger over Baez’s form and fitness after losing three on the trot, Arnaldi is the player to back here in their first meeting. Prediction: Arnaldi in 3
