Take a Virtual Tour of the Grand Dubai Mall
The sundecks on Dubai’s beaches lie empty as efforts to keep the Emirate protected against Covid-19 prevent people from going out and about. However, due to technological innovation, you can take virtual tours of the various sights of Dubai Mall. This works great by itself and even better with a VR headset. You can see the chic garments of the fashion avenue, walk through the underwater zoo, visit dino park or even take a peek outside, all from the comfort of your home!
The Dubai Fountain
Virtually visit the world’s largest dancing fountain, which tangos to the tunes of classical, Arabic and world music. Made up of more than 1.5 million lumens of projected light, it can spray water up to a whopping 500 feet, able to keep 22,000 gallons of water airborne. Set on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake grounds, the fountain is 900 ft (275 metres) long and comprises five circles of varying sizes and two central arcs. The fountain was created by the same people who worked on the ones at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. The Dubai Fountain performs daily, with songs like Baba Yetu, Shik Shak Shok and Con te partiro (Time to Say Goodbye). The beam of light shining upward from the fountain can be seen from over 20 miles away and is visible from space making it one of the brightest spots in the Middle East.
Visit: The Dubai Fountain at Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination has opened its doors every day to thousands of shoppers, taking in over 100 million annual visitors. The Dubai Mall is easily accessible via the Dubai Metro. The nearest station is the Burj Khalifa Station where feeder buses direct to The Dubai Mall are frequently available. With the first phase expansion of 1 million sq.ft., the mall’s fashion portfolio will enhance its retail offerings. The Fashion Avenue has several flagship stores of the world’s most renowned brands like Saint Laurent and Cartier.
Fashion Avenue
The Dubai Mall’s The Fashion Avenue is home to just about every major fashion brand in the world. Adorned with a 440,000 square feet Fashion Avenue, which is recognized as the largest collection of fashion brands under one roof anywhere in the world including Gucci, Valentino, Fendi, Stefano Ricci, Chanel and Balmain.
Visit: Fashion Avenue at The Dubai Mall
A rising fashion capital in the Middle East the mall’s Fashion Avenue comprises high and mid-fashion retails outlets that offer haute couture and some of the finest designer brands. The Fashion Avenue’s grand decor complements the endless rows of elite fashion stores, can spoil any potential shoppers with choice, as they get a grand palette at their disposal to mix and match and find the perfect look.
Dubai Aquarium, Underwater Zoo and Dino Exhibit
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is the main attraction situated in The Dubai Mall. One of the largest tanks in the world at 51m x 20m x 11m also featuring one of the world’s largest viewing panels which are 32.8m wide and 8.3m high. Dubai Aquarium has more than 33,000 living animals, representing more than 85 species including over 400 sharks and rays combined. Dubai Aquarium’s 270-degree acrylic walkthrough tunnel lets patrons experience an incredibly up-close experience with some of the most fascinating underwater animals on the planet. In another part of the mall, you can enter the past as you visit the late Jurassic era, circa 155 million years ago. It features a full dinosaur skeleton discovered in Wyoming, USA in 2008. Almost all bones of the dinosaur were found intact at the excavation site. No comparable exhibit, with nearly all bones completing the skeleton, exists elsewhere.

Overview and HistoryDubai is one of the seven Arab Emirates and has the highest population in the UAE. Unfortunately for western historians, the pre-Islamic culture used an oral tradition for recordkeeping of its stories and legends, so there isn't much to go on from library sources. But the area around Dubai has been occupied for thousands of years, with many trading centers between the east and west. The earliest mention of Dubai recorded in writing dates to 1095, and it was known as a source of rich pearls to merchants of Venice.Dubai was dependent of Abu Dhabi during the 19th century; it became a protectorate of the UK as of 1892, and engaged in border disputes with Abu Dhabi after WWII. As of 1971 Dubai became part of the United Arab Emirates. From here onwards let the theme of this essay be,"Dubai goes BIG!"There's booming construction going on in Dubai right now, as in, almost 25% of its economy is based on building!Dubai has the capital and initiative to set up some really exciting projects, like Dubai Internet City. It's a free trade zone in a technology park created to attract large companies by offering special tax breaks within its economic zone. So far players like Microsoft, HP, Nokia, IBM and Oracle have moved in with their regional offices... not bad. DIC is now a strategic hub connecting two billion people across the Middle East, Africa and India.Spin around in the Heritage Village area and check out all the construction cranes on the horizon.Getting ThereThe Dubai International Airport has one of the best duty-free shopping malls in the world, which is an attraction all by itself. The airport offers a wide range of world-class services. Transportation service will be car rental or taxi, with buses to appease the traffic problem.TransportationDubai has an extensive taxi system made up of both private and government-operated cabs. The city was planned to hold 600,000 people and it population is now 1.5 million -- you figure out what that means in terms of traffic...Currently there's a $4 billion construction project underway to build a Metro system, expected to be complete in 2012.If you want to have some real fun, take an abras to find the world's most amazing spice market here, at Spice Souk Abra Station. Abras are little wooden boats you take to cross the Dubai canal. It costs about 27cent USD for the trip, you get them at Abra station and ride them between the gold/spice market on one side and the textile market on the other. This is a great way to see old Dubai too, by traveling the Dubai creek. Also, don't forget that the National Bank building reflects the surface of the water and looks like a giant TV.People and CultureChoosing the right season to visit Dubai is of critical importance. Temperatures range from 10C in winter to 48C in the summer. Tourist season starts in October and gets cranking in November. The local currency is the dirham. Carry small change with you for taxi drivers and things, otherwise you will end up giving a bigger tip than you meant to.They drive on the right in Dubai and there is a car accident, on average, every three minutes. Be advised and keep your eyes peeled.Dubai has a zero tolerance drug policy. ZERO. Don't mess around.Things to do, RecommendationsDubai is as ancient as it is modern. See the Chamber of Commerce and Bastakiya for just two of the myriad examples. Bastakiya is a completely-restored neighborhood from an old merchants' settlement. A really popular historic destination to visit is one of the of three watchtowers guarding the city of Burj-Nahar in Deira.Dubai is the upscale shopping capital of the world, but its charming old markets (souks) are where it all comes from. If you're not from around here, get ready to learn about bargaining...Here's the old market called Souk Bur Dubai, take a look at your shopping schedule and dive in!Al-Sabkha is one of the smaller communities in Dubai but it's got tons of markets to poke through.Clubbing: Dubai has strict liquor laws (and pork laws) so most of the nightclubs are located inside hotels, where they already have some sort of liquor license. Check out Zinc, Planetarium, Kandy Club, and Peppermint to get your dose of bass.Well, you can't exactly climb up this one, but here's the clock tower.Just wait until the Burj Dubai is finished, then you'll REALLY have something to get a view from! The Burj Dubai will be the world's tallest structure when it's done. Office space is set for about $4,000 per square foot, ready to go in September 2009. Cheap! It's part of a development that when finished will host thirty thousand homes, nine hotels, seven acres of parkland, and the Dubai Mall -- slated to be the largest mall in the world.Dubai is going big! Get there and have a look for yourself.Text by Steve Smith.

KidZania is every child’s dream park!
This theme park is a child-sized replica of a real city : there are buildings, shops, airports, factories, restaurants and theaters. There is even a police station and a courthouse, while vehicles and pedestrians moving along its streets.
Here children aged 4 to 14 can do their dream job, be policemen, lawyers, doctors, firefighters, journalists, cooks or plane pilots! The activities that can be done are many and really serve the functioning of the city of KidZania.
Each child can earn KidZos (KidZania’s currency) while performing the tasks of his job and then he can spend the KidZos to play in other activities, or to buy something within the game.
Children are supervised during the game, so that parents can freely enjoy a walk in the Dubai Mall during the game.
Hysteria Dubai Mall
Ok, you have left your children to play in KidZania, well maybe now it’s the turn to play for the older ones!
A haunted house in the middle of the Dubai Mall: evil spirits and horrifying creatures inhabit its rooms and are ready to kidnap guests and make them live an adventure worthy of the worst horror story.
It is scary enough to make you scream like a baby already in the third room, and you have 15 rooms to explore.
Reel Cinemas Dubai Mall
Not a simple cinema: 26 rooms, the best technology: 3D movies, MX4D, 270° screens and the best sound. Furthermore there is the possibility to live the “dine-in” experience by eating burgers and fries while watching a movie.
How to save on Dubai Mall attractions tickets
To save up to 60% on Dubai Mall attractions tickets you can buy the iVenture Dubai Unlimited Pass , which allows you free entry to all major attractions in Dubai, including those of the Dubai Mall, such as KidZania, Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Fountain, Reel Dine-In Cinema, Ice Rink, Burj Khalifa and so on.
Dubai Mall is a place that foodies will surely appreciate. Its gastronomic offer is significant, with over 200 places to eat , have a coffee or a piece of cake with a cup of tea.
The best restaurants have a terrace overlooking the Dubai Fountain , offer the best of international cuisine, instagramable dishes and refined specialties. The prices are quite high.
All restaurants also have a good offer of healthy and vegetarian dishes and some have children’s menus, perfect for families.
For those who prefer a quick, tasty and cheap meal, the best alternative is to eat in one of the many fast-food restaurants in the Dubai Mall Food Court : you can choose from cuisines from all over the world, the portions are generous and have a good value for money.
Dubai Mall Opening Hours
In general the Dubai Mall opening hours are: from 10.00 AM until 10.00 PM, open 7 days a week.
Some restaurants and cafes open for breakfast at 9.00 AM.
How to get to the Dubai Mall
You can get to the Dubai Mall by taxi: every taxi driver knows the location of the Dubai Mall, so just ask. The taxi rank is on the ground floor, near the Waitrose supermarket.
This is undoubtedly the best solution for those arriving in Dubai on a cruise, taxis easily connect Downtown Dubai with the Port Rashid Cruise Terminal.
The Dubai Metro Red Line connects the Dubai Mall with the rest of the city (including Dubai International Airport). The closest metro station is Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall .
The metro station is about 1 km from the Dubai Mall, which means at least 10 minutes walk. However, the metro station is connected directly to the Dubai Mall via the Metro Link Bridge, a closed pedestrian bridge with air conditioning and airport-style travolators.
You can reach the Dubai Mall with Bus 27 which leaves from the Gold Souk Bus Station in Deira or with Bus 29 which leaves from Ghubaiba Bus Station in the Al Fahidi district.
The Hop On Hop Off double-decker bus stop is located right in front of the Dubai Mall main entrance. From here depart the routes that connect all the main attractions of the city, so it is very easy to include the Dubai Mall in your Dubai sightseeing itinerary.
To reach Dubai Mall by car you should leave Sheikh Zayed Road at Interchange 1 and take Financial Center Road to Dubai Mall. The road is well signposted. The Dubai Mall has three free multi-storey car parks with 14,000 parking spaces.
Sales at the Dubai Mall
The sales season usually coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival, which normally takes place in January.
Dubai Shopping Festival
For a month Dubai becomes the international capital of fashion and shopping. Events, fashion shows, fireworks shows, concerts and even a film festival are held throughout the city.
During this time millions of people come to Dubai from all over the world to shop, the city is particularly crowded (be sure to book all experiences and tours in advance) and the Dubai Mall is full of shopping enthusiasts looking for sales.
Dress appropriately
It is good to be respectful of local customs. Keep your shoulders and knees always covered. This applies to both men and women.
Respect during Ramadan
During the Holy Month of Ramadan according to local customs it is not possible to eat or drink in public during daylight hours. However, some places to eat remain open: you can find them in the covered food court on the second floor.
The Dubai Mall is located right in the heart of Downtown Dubai . Right next to the Dubai Mall are the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain .
A few steps from the Dubai Mall you can visit the Dubai Opera and enjoy a leisurely cruise on Dubai Creek . The most popular meeting point in the Dubai Mall is the Dubai Mall Waterfall , one of Dubai’s most eclectic works of art.

Virtual Tour of Dubai City, UAE
The origins of Dubai trace back to the VII century, however few people associate the largest city of the United Arab Emirates with ancient times. Dubai is best described as "the City of the Future": nowhere else on the planet you will find so many incredible architectural constructions that are ultra-modern and even ahead of our times.
Here is just a short list of Dubai's attractions: Burj Khalifa skyscraper that looks like stalagmite or a desert flower with thin petals; Seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel, shaped like a sail, rises on a special artificial island (hotel room prices at Burj Al Arab start from one thousand dollars per night!); 150-meter musical fountain that lifts 83 thousand liters of water up in the air while performing Arabic and international musical hits. Breathtaking group of artificial islands: Palm islands (a gigantic tree built off the coast of the Persian Gulf) and World Islands, shaped as the Earth's continents.
All this is just a beginning! Besides its attractions, Dubai is known as a shopper's heaven. The largest shopping and entertainment center in the Middle East — "Dubai Mall" — also features one of the world's largest aquariums. "Dubai Marina" is the largest and the most exclusive yacht harbor in the world.
Note: all interesting things in Dubai either hold a world-record title in size or are pioneers in its areas. Sometimes, both things are true. For example, Ski Dubai, the indoors ski resort is not only the largest in the region, but the first one in the entire Middle East where one could enjoy skiing. One can enjoy skiing in the midst of 30 degree heat in the center of the desert — isn't it impressive? This is exactly what Dubai intends to do: to surprise, impress and bewilder with its novel ideas.
Even the weather in Dubai participates in this race for the "best of the best" title. Due to its average temperature of 35,5ºC, Dubai is one of the hottest cities in the world. Finally, beaches of Dubai have made this emirate one of the most popular resorts in the world.
Turning back to its history, a long time ago Dubai started out as exporter of pearls, but at the end of XX century it couldn't afford to act on such a small scale. Nowadays the Emirate holds a leading position in gold jewelry manufacturing, and gold prices in Dubai are such that very few can resist the temptation of bringing home half of a suitcase filled with jewelry made of this precious metal...
The United Arab Emirates is one of the most amazing countries in the world. Millions of tourists come there to see its places if interest, however, almost all of them are man-made.
The Emirates can't boast of either impressive mountain relief like the Alps do, or of water zest which is fiords located in Norway or of great forests with the richest flora and fauna of Amazonia...The desert, sea coast and oil, perhaps, are the only wealth of the UAE. That kind of wealth is quite enough in the neighbor country of the region. But exactly the Emirates are famous for their landscapes. Why so?
The answer is evident: the landscapes have been created artificially in order to overtake and surpass as well as to eclipse and impress as much as ever possible. The aim has been achieved. And the most outstanding project in that sphere is the artificial islands of the Emirates.
The construction of the biggest in the world archipelago named Palm Islands began in Dubai Emirate in 2001. Millions of tons of both sand and stones were being put by the workers imitating a palm which is the most honored and popular tree of the East. As a result, close to the Emirate's coast "three palm trees" grew: the Jebel Ali , the Deira and the Jumeira.
The Jumeira is surrounded by a crescent which is both Islamic symbol and simultaneously a breakwater. The island's size is 5 by 5 meters; the total size is comparable with eight hundred football fields. The island joins the mainland with the 300-meters bridge and the crescent and a palm top are connected with an underwater tunnel. And there is a monorail on the bridge — the first one in the Middle East.
On the Palm Islands there is a super luxurious hotel Atlantis as well as other chic hotels; most mansions and apartments have already been acquired by the richest people of the planet or are still waiting for their turn to be bought. And the rest world population can admire this beauty for free, for example, from the bird's-eye view that allows understand its size and forms.
Not far from it there is another largest artificial archipelago — the World. The idea of its creation appeared two years later. By that time Dubai had become very popular among the tourists all over the world and there was an extremely beach shortage. At the same time, in the UAE they can't just put sand into water; sand should be of any unusual form.
As Arabian sheikhs have the habit to implement grandiose plans and, therefore, they decided to create... all the Earth continents at the coasts of Dubai. But right in the process of this idea's realization it became clear that it would be hard to sell such huge territories. That is why the continents were divided into number of islands in order anyone could buy the Island of France or any state of America which is also surrounded from all sides by water. Besides, the World includes not only continents or countries but also cities or such sphere like fashion: there is the Island of St. Petersburg or the Fashion Island (Isla Moda).
Finally, now the island sizes vary from 14 to 83 thousand square meters, the width of the straits may be from 50 to 100 meters and their depth — from 8 to 16 meters.
It wasn't also easy to find a place for the future project of artificial islands. By that time the coast line had already been occupied by the Palm Islands. They had to put sand and make islands 4 km far from the coast. And they are really islands, not like the Palms: the World doesn't join the continent with a bridge. All 300 islands are available only by sea or air transports, regular ferries and private yachts or boats. The getting time will not be more than twenty minutes.
Nowadays, more than half of the World's ready objects have already been sold. The construction works still have been going on. The highest price for an island reaches 38 billion dollars. It can vary depending on location, size and distance to other islands.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are among the most famous buyers: they chosen Ethiopia. And one of the islands in Antarctica estimated at 7 million dollars became a gift of a sheikh to Michael Schumacher...
In short, Dubai is a paradise city, a page from a science fiction book, a true picture of how even the most bizarre and ambitious ideas may be implemented into reality. We hope that the panoramas and photos of Dubai will transmit the incredible greatness of the unique and the most famous city of the United Arab Emirates.

I had the opportunity to visit Dubai twice in 1998 and 2004 all I have to say is that is a very beautiful city and is the pride of the Arabs and Muslim countries , the great results of developmemts and prosperity is due mainly to the ruler of Dubai ,the President of the UAE without the tremendous work done for many years by the Dceased president Sheikh Zayed Bin Soltan AlNahyan, God great him in his paradise.Long live to Dubai and more and more development Inchallah

I just returned from your fabulous country, a place I have longed to visit. Now I know why. It was an experience in every way and with the assistance of my well informed, eloquent Pakistani driver/guide I was privileged to feast on some of the best features. They were extravagant and opulent and I hope will be a work in progress. I look forward to returning to the Paris of the Middle East sometime soon. Thank you UAE.

Exeptional photography and presentation. I would not call it 'Dubai City' since unfortunately it only shows a fraction of Dubai . May I suggeest instead of showing so many impressions of the World and the Palm it would be fantastic if you would be able to add the exiciting areas and views around Burj Al Arab and especially Burj Khalifa and additionally the original old part of Dubai around the Dubai Creek. Then people would be blown away by the beauty and diversity of architectural masterpieces and the original historic Dubai. Thank you for this incredible positive experience of beautiful impressions around our beautiful world.

I had an office in UAE under auspice of Bin Dhahi -the best safest and enjoyable time of my life.No need to lock your car, hotel room, no radicals, midnight safe as lunch time, cooperation of government unbelievable, my ideal instantly realized (Im an architect) Working people (mostly Pakis) are totally different from those in Pakistan, no taxes, free health, tolerance to everything. I would change/vote in Australia for UAE any time despite I don't particularly like Islam.

Dubai Mall | Self Guided Tour
Dubai Mall is one of the largest shopping malls in the world, with a total area of 12 million square feet. It’s home to a vast array of stores, from high fashion boutiques to kitschy treasures, and a plethora of restaurants serving food from all across the globe. What is more, inside you’ll find an underwater zoo, an ancient fossil, unique art installations and many other attractions. Since the area is so big, we’ve decided to provide a self guided tour of Dubai Mall, to help people navigate the massive complex.
Getting there
To get to the Dubai Mall by metro, take the Red Line to the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station. You can see our guide to traveling by metro here . The station connects to the mall via a long, airconditioned bridge. The walk to the metro is a bit long (around 15 minutes), but there are moving walkways that make it seem shorter. If you arrive by metro, you will exit onto the 2 nd floor of the mall.
You can also travel by car or taxi. If you travel by car, you’ll find plenty of parking at the mall. If you travel by taxi, the taxi will drop you directly at the ground floor entrance of the mall.
Dubai Mall Tour
One of the best parts of visiting Dubai Mall is the exploration. To really get the Dubai Mall experience we also recommend doing some free wandering around the various shops. To complement your exploration, however, we’ve put together this self guided tour of several key attractions at Dubai Mall.
2 nd Floor :
Kidzania is an ‘edutainment’ center aimed at children between the ages of four to sixteen. Children can take part in role-playing activities, including as firefighters, dentists and journalists. Through their work, they earn ‘currency’ which can be spent within Kidzania city. Kidzania helps kids to explore different career paths through practical experience, whether it’s cooking up a meal as a chef or solving a crime as a police officer. It’s an experience that’s both entertaining and educational.
Economy tickets to Kidzania cost 150 AED, while accompanying adults pay a reduced fare of AED 50. There is also the option of purchasing a Business Ticket for AED 225, which includes Kidzania access for the child and Business Lounge access for the adult. More information on the various ticketing options can be found here .
SEGA Republic
Spread out over two levels, SEGA Republic is a wicked indoor theme park for all ages. It features 16 attractions, such as rope obstacles and trampolines. It is also home to 170 amusement arcade and video games (including several virtual reality games). At SEGA Republic, you have the option of either choosing a Pay & Play Pass (loaded with the credit amount of your choice) or one of the unlimited passes, which cost between 200 AED and 300 AED. You can find more information on SEGA Republic tickets here .
Hysteria Haunted Attraction
Hysteria is not for the faint of heart. It’s a haunter ‘manor’ located within the mall. As the story goes, the children of the manor have disappeared and the manor’s guests have to dodge their hysterical parents’ attempts at revenge. The attraction uses fog, strobe lighting and character actors to really make people jump out of their skin. Tickets for Hysteria cost 100 AED.
Ground Floor
Dubai aquarium.
The Dubai Aquarium is one of the mall’s key attractions and is easy to find. You’ll see signboard up above pointing you in the right direction, and the aquarium stretches over several floors, so it’s difficult to miss. The 10-million litre Dubai Aquarium Tank is one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world. It is home to over 140 species of marine life. The aquarium can be viewed from the outside, so anyone can admire the various sea creatures.
To get the full experience, however, you can purchase one of several tickets on offer, including Explorer Experience (with a glass bottom boat ride), Otter Encounter, Ray Encounter (with ray feeding) and King Croc Encounter.
Feel free to drop us an email if you want to purchase a Dubai Mall Aquarium Entry Ticket, on [email protected].
Candylicious
Right opposite the Dubai Aquarium, on the ground floor, you’ll find Candylicious. Stepping into Candylicious makes you feel as if you are stepping into Willy Wonka’s factory. Inside, you’ll find over 5000 types of sweets, a 3-D printer for gummy candy in addition to an array of lollypop trees and towering spires of jellybeans in every flavor. You even have the opportunity to purchase candy-themed souvenirs, like ice-cream plushies or brownie key chains. The entire store is an experience (and a particularly Instagrammable one) so it should be a definite stop on your trip to Dubai Mall.
Dubai Mall Gold Souk
From Candylicious, make your way to the Dubai Mall Gold Souk, which is the world’s largest indoor gold souk. It features 220 fine jewelry outlets in an air-conditioned, Arabesque setting. The area has an almost maze-lie design, making it perfect for a leisurely walk as you ooh and ahh over the glittering jewelry showcased in the display windows. The meandering walkways are dotted with bronzed statues of camels, horses and palm trees, allowing for plenty of selfie opportunities as well.
If you’re interested in a more traditional souk experience, our Dubai Souk Tour will guide you through the textile, spice, gold and perfume souks in Old Dubai
While you’re at the Gold Souk, make sure you check out the Dubai Dino located at the Souk Dome. The impressive Diplodocus longus skeleton is 155 million years old. It stands at nearly 8 meters tall and 25 meters wide. Nearly 90 percent of the fossil’s bones are the original. This makes it the most original skeleton finding of a Diplodocus longus to date.
The dinosaur fossils were originally discovered in a sleeping position at the Dana Quarry in Wyoming, USA. Understanding the rarity of the find, Dubai Mall chose to purchase dinosaur and fly it to Dubai, rightly pointing out that the shopping mall sees more foot traffic than most museums. After a Twitter competition to name the mall’s new resident, the skeleton was titled, “Dubai Dino.” and is a must see attraction in your self guided tour of the mall.
The Dubai Dino is open and free to view during mall operating hours.
Dubai Mall Ice Rink
After your walk in the gold souk (and your selfie with the Dubai Dino), head over to watch the figure skaters at the Dubai Mall Ice Rink. While the indoor ski park Ski Dubai is located in Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall has done its own part to build an indoor winter wonderland. The Dubai Mall Ice Rink is an Olympic-sized rink and is located on the Ground Floor. If you’re in the mood to try some jumps and spins, you can buy tickets online or in person.
Otherwise, you can watch the skaters from behind the glass. The Dubai Mall Ice Rink also has special sessions, such as Disco Sessions (with a DJ and light display) and Snowfall Sessions (wherein a snow sprayer rains white flakes on the crowd). You can find the list of session timings here. The skaters at the Dubai Mall ice rink are well worth a watch, so you should definitely make this a stop during your tour of the mall.
The Dubai Mall Waterfall
Close to the Ice Rink, you’ll find the Dubai Mall Waterfall, it is referred to as The Divers. It is a beautiful piece of installation art and one of the most recognizable features of Dubai Mall. The Waterfall cascades down all 4 floors of Dubai Mall. According to us the ground level is the best place to take pictures from. The most distinctive feature is the series of fiberglass sculptures shaped like human divers. They provide an intriguing stillness to the rush of water behind this. This is a very popular photo spot, so make sure you head over.
Level Shoes
Once you’ve taken enough photos of the waterfall, it’s time to head to another shopping district – this one dedicated to shoes. At 96,000 square feet, Level Shoes is the world’s largest shoe store. It offers 40 boutiques with both classic fashion and hip trends on display. Level Shoes strives to make shoe shopping a luxury experience, offering feet therapy, shoe restoration in addition to customized designs. If you’ve been eyeing a pair of Jimmy Choos or Manolo Blahniks, this is definitely the place to pick them up. And even if you don’t purchase anything, you can still wander around the beautifully appointed store. Here, the shoes are on display as if they were museum pieces.
Apple store
You might be raising your eyebrow at the idea of going to an Apple Store while on a self guided tour. However, the Dubai Mall Apple Store is one of the coolest stores in the mall. Beyond the signature look featured in Apple Stores across the globe, the Dubai Mall Apple Store features great views of the Burj Khalifa. The store’s 180-feet wide window is comprised of 18 motorized “solar wings”. These "wings" open and shut in response to environmental conditions. In the evenings, when the weather is cool, you can head out to the terrace to view the Dubai Fountain show.
Lower Ground
Burj khalifa.
The entrance to get to the top of the Burj Khalifa is located inside Dubai Mall, so we’ll consider it as part of the Dubai Mall self guided tour. You can see our guide to visiting the Burj Khalifa here .
Dubai Fountain
Afterwards, head outside to view the Dubai Fountain. The Dubai Fountain isn’t operational all day. It’s the world’s largest choreographed fountain system and offers a spectacular show of music, light and water. The Dubai Fountain offers two shows in the afternoon (1:00pm & 1:30pm Saturday to Thursday, 1:30pm & 2:00 pm on Friday).
Otherwise, it has an evening show daily every 30 minutes from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. Viewers will find a different music and choreography for every show. The evening shows tend to be the best. They allow for full use of light along with the music and water. Therefore, if you’re planning a visit to Dubai Mall, try to time it so that you’ll be present for one of the evening shows.

Top Things To Do In Dubai Mall
1. Enjoy Shopping at its best
Whether you want to give an overhaul to your wardrobe or get a beauty makeover or want to add some unique statement pieces to your jewelry collection, more than 1200 outlets scattered across its diverse levels and themed sections ensure that you’ll find the choicest version of almost everything here. Rightly so, it features flagship stores of some of the renowned names in the apparel, fashion accessories and cosmetic industry, such as Sephora, Moncler, Bloomingdale’s, Galeries Lafayette, Level Shoes, Harry Winston, and Aspinal of London. While shopping is one of obvious reasons that draw majority of people here, you’ll realize that there are more things to do here. Just continue reading to enlighten more about this.
2. Discover Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo
The Dubai Mall wows you by hosting the largest suspended aquarium in the world . Its gigantic 10-million-liter tank holds more than 33,000 marine creatures that represent over 140 species. Interestingly, you can view a part of this aquarium for free; however charges or a nominal fee applies to participate in some of its distinct experiences such as Shark Counter, Cage Snorkeling, Glass Bottom Ride and Dive with Shark. Spread over two levels (ground and first floor), it also comprises an Underwater Zoo where you can see king croc that weighs over 750 kilograms, among others. There is also a captivating 48-meter-long underwater tunnel which delights you with the 270-degree of the aquarium and its magical inhabitants.
3. Catch up with Dubai Dino
Things may not come cheap in the Dubai Mall. That said, not all experiences lay your money here as you can explore and enjoy some of them absolutely free of any charge. One of the most popular among them is Dubai Dino. Majestically displayed in the mall’s Grand Atrium, Dubai Dino is an authentic remnant from the pre-historic era. Yes, this is not any replica dinosaur skeleton; this approximately 25-meter-long and seven-meter-high skeleton is a bonafide fossil of a real dinosaur which once wandered the surface of the planet more than 155 million years ago.
4. Ride the Advanced Go-Karts
For this, head to Ekart Zabeel at Zabeel Extension! This is one of the Dubai Mall attractions exclusively made for those who are crazy about racing and speed. It’s the region’s first of its kind karting facility, set completely indoors, and filled with the most advanced electric go-karts. But to ride it, you should be 14 years or older and also fulfill the height (not exceed 140 centimeters) and weight (not exceed 120 kilograms) requirements. So come race with your family or friends. With your kart racing timing being tracked, you’ll be able to know who has achieved the fastest lap time and even share it online as well.
5. Take your little ones to KidZania
Joined by your kids from 2 to 16 years? Take them to KidZania for an edutainment adventure like no other. It’s a replica model of a real-life world where your child can role-play their favorite job to his or her heart’s content. Beyond practicing their favorite profession, they even get rewarded for all their genuine efforts in the form of KidZos (KidZania’s own currency). So let them bake pizza, pilot plane, or walk the ramp when you shop or roam around the mall with absolute peace of mind.
6. Have the most chilling moment at Dubai Ice Rink
Dubai Ice Rink at the Dubai Mall is one of the closest to the snow and winter that you could ever get in Dubai. Lace up a pair of ice skates and spin around the glazing ice rink as you forget all about the blistering temperature outside. It’s not just for pro; there are colorful skating aids available for beginners and first-timers of all age groups. You can further sign up for skating lessons which are even open to kids above four years.
7. Watch Movies in style
Take your movie watching experience from ordinary to extraordinary at the Dubai Mall’s Reel Cinema! It’s not only the country’s biggest, but also one of the world’s most cutting-edge and luxurious cinemas. The Cineplex has 26 screens and offers the coziest ever seating plus other facilities, all enhanced by the finest in audio and visual techniques. So get ready to excite your senses in an unbelievable ambience.
8. Admire Iconic Sights from the Apple Store Terrace
Have plans to shop the latest smart phone or other cool electronic gadgets? Be sure to visit Apple Dubai Mall. But what if you don’t have any plan for shopping? We would still insist you to check out this Apple store. After all, it has a terrace adjoining the store from where you can get the best views over the mighty Burj Khalifa and the captivating Dubai Fountain show, besides catching up with all fervor and spirit of this urban haven.
That’s not all; it stands as one of the greatest illustrations of kinetic art and engineering with its 18 cool Solar Wings. Made using polymer rods armored with carbon fiber, they are a true engineering marvel (inspired by the traditional Arabic Mashrabiya) which adjusts itself or responds effectively to the region’s climatic conditions.
9. Find your way out of Hysteria Haunted attraction
Want to add a dash of mystery and terror to your Dubai holidays? The Dubai Mall has a special attraction for you in the form of Hysteria Haunted Attraction . This recreates a haunted mansion which invites all above 16 years to discover its creepily dark sections and mostly encounter several ghostly figures. This experience lasts for only 15 minutes, but attempt to walk into this place only if you and everyone in your group are adventurous, brave, and fit and healthy.
10. Buy a candy or chocolate imprinted with your photo
Yes, this is possible at Candylicious, which is a favorite of kids and kids-at-heart alike. Overlooking Dubai Aquarium, it’s the Middle East’s largest candy store means you can imagine finding here almost all classic and latest brands of chocolates imaginable and beyond. So what better way to satiate your sweet tooth once in Dubai? Be welcomed by a huge chocolate tree here whose trunks, leaves and other parts are adorned using hundreds of chocolates. You’ll also get to see the special Candylicious airplane and even be part of exclusive Candylicious experiences such as Pick and Mix and Bake-a-licious.
11. Enjoy the best in Virtual and Augmented Reality
Enter VR Park at the Dubai Mall and transport yourself to an immersive world filled with the finest and most thrilling in Virtual and Augmented Reality. From Burj Drop, Plummet and Dune Bash to Dubai Drone, Dune Bash and the Raft, more than 30 exciting rides and games await you to promise you adventure and amusement at an epic scale.
12. Strike a pose against the Human Waterfalls
Dubai is a true charmer when it comes to merging modernity with its rich culture and heritage. And this waterfall which spans through the overall height of the mall is a wonderful depiction of this fact. The highlight of the cylindrical falls is the stunning sculptures of pearl divers (taking eternal flight) which make a marvelous epitome of the region’s once-flourished yet dangerous pearl farming occupation. Finished using fiberglass, these distinct art installations well synchronize with the soothing pulse and flow of the waterfalls.
13. Treat yourself to a culinary adventure like no other
Crammed with several over-the-top dessert and cookie shops plus an entire food court dedicated to your preferred cuisines, the Dubai Mall literally lets you sample foods from all over the world. Enjoy the yummiest desserts at the Cheesecake Factory, Cinnabon, Ben’s Cookies etc, and wash it down with your favorite appetizing drinks at Starbucks, Shake Shack etc. With 200 plus dining outlets, it’s up to you whether you opt to dine on the go or drop into a classy venue (like Al Hallab, Dish Dash and Café Bateel) for a full, sit-down meal.
14. Enjoy Dubai’s only A380 Flight Simulator
With this advanced flight simulator that resembles the cockpit of a real plane, get ready for a unique and uplifting air travel experience. Just pick from the list of busiest airports and there you’re all set to feel the fun and thrill of piloting an airplane on your own. There will be an instructor by your side to help you with your navigation skills.
15. Watch Dubai Fountain Show
Finally, the Dubai Mall is not all about its lavish interiors and jaw-dropping leisure zones. Just step out of the mall to feast yourself with an extravaganza of choreographed water and light show. Artistically synchronized in tune to foot-tapping western or Arabic music, this exquisite fountain show is set on the Burj Lake and is the highest of its kind, with water jetting out up to a height of over 500 feet during the show. Played at an interval of every 30 minute after 18:00 hrs, this attraction is absolutely free to watch. That said, you can choose to take in this experience from an up-close standpoint on an abra ride along Burj Lake.
Top Tips For Visiting The Dubai Mall
- The Dubai Mall is incredibly vast, so make sure that you grab a map (from one of the mall’s guest services desk) or download the Dubai Mall app on your device for its better navigation.
- Before you visit the mall, make a good research and create an organized list of thing you wish to see and do here.
- If you’re planning to shop, be sure to arrive here early. With so much to explore, it’s sure that you won’t settle for something very soon.
- There is not any particularly dress code but make sure that your dress covers shoulders and knees.
- Come here prepared to walk a lot; so a staple is to put on a comfortable pair of shoes.
- Free Wi-Fi is available all over the mall. All you have to do is to connect to Dubai Mall by Emaar.
- After all shopping, you can enjoy the mall’s exclusive delivery services. But a minimum spend of AED 500 is required to avail of this.
- If all high-end outlets and boutiques make you overwhelmed, you can make the most of its chauffeur services. To make it even smoother and convenient, get the help of a personal shopper who will take you around the mall in a buggy and further enlighten you about its top brands and recent collections.
- Don’t panic if you’ve lost an item while inside the mall. It’s very likely that you’ll get back it from the mall’s ‘Lost & Found’ section on the ground level (close to Abu Dhabi National Bank.)
- If elderly or little ones in your group don’t want to walk, head to one of the Guest Services Desks and get a wheelchair / baby stroller for free.
- There are professional babysitters to take care your kids if they don’t want to join you in your shopping spree.
The Dubai Mall, precisely, has so much on offer that you would never want to leave this spot. With amazing shopping and leisure attractions plus oodles of dining choices, this mall is a pure bliss and of course a giant playground for adults and kids alike. So pre-plan and do everything to just make sure that your Dubai trip is not just confined to the Dubai Mall.
