PGA EuroPro Tour To Fold After More Than 20 Years

Europe's third-tier development Tour will end at the conclusion of the 2022 season

2021 PGA EuroPro Tour Championship winner Jamie Rutherford

The PGA EuroPro Tour has announced that the 2022 season will be its last, citing the economic landscape of rising costs and changes in audience appetite for its decision.

It was created in 2002 following a merger between the EuroPro Tour and PGA MasterCard Tour, as the Professional Golfers' Association and Barry Hearn's Matchroom Sport joined forces.

As Europe's third-tier golf tour, the PGA EuroPro Tour held an important place in the ecosystem. The top five finishers on the Order of Merit graduated to the Challenge Tour and secured a place at Stage Two of the DP World Tour Qualifying School.

The success of the Tour is perhaps merited by its alumni, which includes Major winners in Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel and European Ryder Cup players in the likes of Tommy Fleetwood , Tyrrell Hatton , Ross Fisher, Jamie Donaldson, Nicholas Colsaerts and Oliver Wilson .

Although unknown at this stage, it is likely PGA EuroPro Tour members will take up opportunities on other development circuits upon conclusion of the 2022 season, such as the Clutch Pro Tour, Alps Tour, Pro Golf Tour and Nordic Golf League.

Speaking of the decision, PGA EuroPro Tour President Barry Hearn said: "I have been honoured to have created the PGA EuroPro Tour alongside Sandy Jones of the PGA and to watch the development of so many aspiring and inspiring professional golfers.

"Sadly, in these changing times for professional golf support for Europe's biggest development tour has not been sufficient to justify its continuation but I must stress my eternal gratitude to Dan Godding and his team at the PGA EuroPro Tour, the PGA, our broadcasters Sky Sports and the golf clubs and volunteers in both the UK and Europe without whom we would never have created so many opportunities for next generation of professional golfers."

PGA EuroPro Tour

The PGA EuroPro Tour has now closed.

After 20 years at the top of the game, helping to develop some of the World's finest players, the PGA EuroPro Tour has come to an end. We’d like to thank all the players, sponsors, host venues, volunteers and fans for your support and we wish everyone well.

Heartbreak for golfers as PGA EuroPro Tour to end after 20 years

PGA EuroPro Tour has decided to call 2022 its final season.

europro challenge tour leaderboard

PGA EuroPro Tour has confirmed the sad news that 2022 will be its last ever season having hosted tournaments for the stars of tomorrow for 20 years.

The circuit first began in 2002 as a partnership between Sandy Jones and the PGA's Mastercard Tour and Barry Hearn and Matchroom Sport's EuroPro Golf Tour.

Since then, some of the game's brightest talents have come through the EuroPro Tour ranks such as major champions and now LIV Golf players Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, six-time DP World Tour winner Tyrrell Hatton and rising stars Richard Mansell, Marcus Armitage and Aaron Rai.

Heartbreak for golfers as PGA EuroPro Tour to end after 20 years

In total, the PGA EuroPro Tour, which has offered five Challenge Tour cards for the following season, has promoted over 100 golfers to the next level.

According to PGA EuroPro Tour CEO Daniel Godding, "the economic landscape of increasing costs and the changing habits of the worldwide audience means it has become clear that unfortunately there is no longer the support nor demand in the market to operate the PGA EuroPro Tour."

This season's final event will be the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship at Lough Erne Resort between 19th and 21st October, where the top five at the end of the event will be promoted to the Challenge Tour for 2023.

Godding published a lengthy statement to reveal the heartbreaking news for Tour professionals earlier today, which you can read in full below:

The 2022 season will be the final year for The PGA EuroPro Tour. After more than 20 years of offering opportunity and shaping the next generation of professional golfer, our journey sadly ends. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks to everyone! https://t.co/HpUiDeJw8L — PGA EuroPro Tour (@PGAEuroProTour) September 28, 2022

After what has been a phenomenal 20 years of developing many of Europe’s best professional golfers, the PGA EuroPro Tour has decided to make 2022 the final season.

In a market evolving quickly the PGA EuroPro Tour feels the impact of changing global investment, media and sponsorship. The economic landscape of increasing costs and the changing habits of the worldwide audience means it has become clear that unfortunately there is no longer the support nor demand in the market to operate the PGA EuroPro Tour.

The Tour first opened its doors in 2002 as a partnership between Sandy Jones and the PGA’s Mastercard Tour and Barry Hearn and Matchroom Sport’s EuroPro Golf Tour. The success was immediately realised with members Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and John E Morgan   with more recently the likes of Aaron Rai, Tyrrell Hatton, Marcus Armitage and Richard Mansell   using the developmental design and progression pathway to springboard their careers on to the European and PGA circuits.

With many Major, European and PGA Tour wins and Ryder Cup appearances by previous members, the tour has proudly created a legacy and has driven forward the brand and image of European golf.

The purpose of the PGA EuroPro was to develop the very best talent in the sport and prepare them for the next stage in their careers. As a direct affiliate to the European Tour, the PGA EuroPro offered five Challenge Tour cards for the following season and has proudly promoted over 100 golfers to the next level.

The PGA EuroPro Tour has provided a world class service to its members offering a stepping stone and media experience like no other tour. But in recent times, the sports environment has evolved drastically, and it has proven difficult for the PGA EuroPro Tour to operate. We are sad to bring an era to its end, but we are delighted that we have helped so many realise their dreams.

We wish everyone the best of success in the years to come and we’re excited to see where our past and current members can take their games. We’d like to use this opportunity to thank all our staff and PGA Members, all our partners from the 20 years who have made it possible and every golf club and volunteer who has been so hospitable when the PGA EuroPro Tour has come to town.

Matchroom Sport and PGA EuroPro Tour President Barry Hearn added –

“I have been honoured to have created the PGA EuroPro Tour alongside Sandy Jones of the PGA and to watch the development of so many aspiring and inspiring professional golfers.

Sadly, in these changing times for professional golf support for Europes’ biggest development tour has not been sufficient to justify its continuation but I must stress my eternal gratitude to Dan Godding and his team at the PGA EuroPro Tour, the PGA, our broadcasters Sky Sports and the golf clubs and volunteers in both the UK and Europe without whom we would never have created so many opportunities for next generation of professional golfers.”

Robert Maxfield, Chief Executive of the PGA added: –

“I would like to thank and congratulate Matchroom for successfully operating The PGA EuroPro Tour for so many years. A number of today’s global golf stars owe a huge debt of gratitude to The PGA EuroPro Tour for providing them with the opportunity to realise their dreams. It is sad that this will be the last season of The PGA EuroPro Tour but we can all look back with great pride on what has been achieved over the last 20 years.”

Our Final event will be the Matchroom Sport Tour Championship at Lough Erne Resort between 19th and 21st October, where the top 5 at the end of the event will be promoted to the Challenge Tour for 2023.

2024 T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards: Semifinal Match Results, Championship Match Breakdown

World-class field finalized for the chevron championship.

  • Tournament News

Leona Maguire

The semifinal matches produced more drama on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nev., and it will be a Solheim Cup showdown in the championship match at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. Nelly Korda will work to pick up her fourth straight victory as she faces off with Leona Maguire, who is looking for her first LPGA Tour victory since the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give in 2023.

Take a look at the semifinal results and preview the championship match at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards:

Match 1 – Leona Maguire def. Sei Young Kim 3 and 2

Maguire came out swinging against Kim, quickly going 2 up after winning holes one and three. Kim landed a blow with a birdie on the par-5 4th hole to get back to 1 down, but Maguire erased that effort just a couple of holes later, parring the 7th hole to once again move two ahead. The Irishwoman struck again on the par-4 10th hole, now sitting 3 up with eight holes to play, and then tied the next three holes with Kim before the Republic of Korea birdied 14 to get back to 2 down. Maguire quickly answered, winning the 15th hole to hold a three-shot advantage with three holes to play, ultimately closing out Kim 3 and 2 with a par on the 16th to earn a spot in the finals at Shadow Creek.

Match 2 – Nelly Korda def. Narin An 4 and 3

Korda raced out of the gate in her match against An, winning the first three holes to take an early 3-up lead, and after a pair of ties on Nos. 4 and 5, landing a one-two punch of birdies on holes six and seven to move to 5 up on An with 11 holes remaining. The Republic of Korea native finally steadied herself with a win on the 10th hole to get back to 4 down, but Korda immediately erased that effort by winning 11 to once again sit five ahead. An tried to get some momentum going in her final holes with a win on the par-3 13th hole, but that effort wound up being futile as the pair tied the next two holes, handing Korda the 4-and-3 semifinal victory in Las Vegas.

Championship Match Tee Time

Match 7, 4:55 p.m. et – leona maguire vs. nelly korda.

Maguire vs. Korda Solheim Cup History

Korda and Maguire have both represented their respective countries in recent years as members of the U.S. and European Solheim Cup teams. Korda has teed it up in three of the biennial team competitions and boasts a 7-4-1 record with 7.5 points earned for the United States. Maguire has played in the last two iterations of the Solheim Cup, going undefeated as a rookie in 2021 with a 4-0-1 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, and has also recorded 7.5 points for the European Team with a 7-2-1 record.

The pair faced off in two different matches in the team-play portion of the 2021 Solheim Cup, and Maguire, alongside her partner Mel Reid, defeated Korda both times in foursomes. They also played against each other in team play at Finca Cortesin in 2023, and Korda finally picked up a victory against Maguire, finishing 1 up over the Duke University alum and her partner Anna Nordqvist with Allisen Corpuz in the Friday morning foursomes matches.

Maguire answered the call, however, on Saturday afternoon, beating Korda and Ally Ewing 4 and 3 while partnered with LPGA Tour winner Charley Hull and picking up her third career Solheim Cup match victory over the current Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1.

2024 Masters sleepers and prop bets: Long shots, Tiger Woods to make the cut, top amateur and more

DORAL, FLORIDA - APRIL 05: Patrick Reed of 4Aces GC hits his tee shot on the fifth hole during day one of the LIV Golf Invitational - Miami at Trump National Doral Miami on April 05, 2024 in Doral, Florida. (Photo by Megan Briggs/Getty Images)

The Masters offers the casual gambler many different ways to put a little skin in the game. The usual PGA Tour stops will often have head-to-head bets or three-ball options, but when the majors come around, we get Super Bowl-like prop betting options.

No player drove golf prop bets more than Tiger Woods when he was in his prime. The field versus Tiger to win at a major championship in the 2000s seemed like a long shot.

Scottie Scheffler isn’t on Woods’ level of dominance yet, but some of the odds being offered are putting him close. Scheffler has been as low as +350 to win the Masters in 2024 and sits at +400 right now. His level of performance coming into this week has made bettors start to get creative. For better odds, they’ll look at a prop where you can take a player to finish with the lowest score to par excluding Scheffler. So, instead of betting Xander Schauffele to win at +1400 (the line has moved since yesterday), you would take him at +1200 to be the lowest total score excluding Scheffler.

With that said, though, the betting favorite hasn’t won the Masters in the last 18 tries.

For those who like to root for the underdogs and play the long shots, there are some decent long-shot options in this year’s field. A long shot hasn’t won at the Masters since Danny Willett in 2016, but that doesn’t mean you can’t leverage a long shot to live bet on a winner on Sunday. Following some of the trends of past Masters winners, we may be able to zero in on a few long-shot options to add to our betting slip.

All odds from BetMGM .

Masters sleepers picks

Patrick Reed (+8000) won at Augusta National Golf Club in 2018 with a tremendous wedge game and is coming off of a fourth-place finish here in 2023. The golf course and the greens are firm this week, with mid-irons bouncing over the greens on the par 5s in the early practice rounds. Players may be forced to lay up and play higher-lofted clubs into the greens, and there aren’t many players who do it better than Patrick Reed. Ten of the last eleven winners have gained at least .25 strokes around the green in the 16 rounds prior to the Masters, and Reed is well within that range.

Si Woo Kim (+8000) checks a lot of boxes when it comes to past Masters winner trends. The last 12 winners have gained at least 18 strokes combined tee to green in the four events prior to their Masters win. The last 14 Masters winners have ranked inside the top 30 in strokes gained tee to green for the year prior to their Masters win. Thirteen of the previous 15 Masters winners have won four or more times before they won the Masters.

Justin Rose (+17500) is my nostalgic long-shot pick this year. Prior performance at the Masters is the trend that holds the most weight. Justin Rose has two second-place finishes at the Masters in the last 10 years. He has five other top-16 finishes here in that time frame and has always been a threat to be a first-round leader. He loves it here, but he hasn’t been able to break through yet, with his closest call being a loss to Sergio García in a playoff. Rose has struggled in 2024, but he just might rekindle some magic when he steps inside the ropes at Augusta. It makes me sad that Ernie Els never won a Masters, and I don’t want that fate for Rose.

Masters prop bets

Tiger woods to make the cut (+100).

Woods hasn’t been able to finish a golf tournament since the Hero World Challenge in early December. He was forced to withdraw from the Masters in 2023 because of injury, and he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational due to flu-like symptoms. The early reports are all positive on how Tiger looks this week. Will Zalatoris played a practice round with Tiger and said it was the best he has seen him play. The cut at the Masters is the top 50 and ties, and there are only 89 players in the field. I would rather root for Woods to make the cut at +100 than bet against him and win a little money watching him struggle.

Hole-in-one made on 16? Yes (-120)

There have been 10 hole-in-ones made in the last 10 Masters tournaments with all but one coming on the 16th hole. Last year saw no hole-in-ones made, which made fans and bettors a little disappointed. I would rather bet that a hole-in-one will be made. After all, we have the best players in the world hitting as little as a 9-iron into a pin that has a backstop that brings balls back toward the hole.

Top debutant

Wyndham Clark (+333) is already a major winner and looks like he is making the jump to being one of the very best players in the world. Augusta is always a tough course to get used to, but Clark’s game seems tailor-made to fit it. He traditionally plays a power fade off the tee much like past Masters winners Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Jack Nicklaus. He has gained over 18 strokes combined from tee to green over his last three tournaments, so his recent form is a big plus.

Top LIV golfer

Joaquín Niemann (+550) might be the second-best golfer on the planet at this moment. He has experience at the Masters where he has improved his finishing position for three straight years. He has gained over 20 strokes tee to green combined over his last three tournaments played. Brooks Koepka comes into this week with some question marks around his recent form and Jon Rahm has a lot to do as the defending champion and face of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf split.

Top amateur

Christo Lamprecht (+188) has the distance off the tee that you want to see from someone competing at the Masters. Lamprecht also has some experience on the leaderboard at a major, which could help him here. Neal Shipley (+450) has the hair and the attitude that make it fun to root for him. But the amateur I am backing is the 33-year-old (today is his birthday!) U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Stewart Hagestad (+330) , who has experience at Augusta and has made the cut here before finishing T36 in 2017.

Top Irish finisher

Rory McIlroy (-250) over Shane Lowry

McIlroy only needs to don the green jacket to secure his career grand slam and he has seven top 10s here in his last 10 tries. Lowry comes into this week in good form and has had some good finishes here, but his ability to contend for a top-five finish is well below what McIlroy can produce. McIlroy has gained over 22 strokes tee to green combined over his last four tournaments, so his current form is excellent.

Bonus future bet

Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay to make the cut in all four majors (+275)

Schauffele and his current form is the easy side of this bet. He finished inside the top 20 in all four majors last year and hasn’t missed a cut in a major since the Masters in 2022.

Cantlay has struggled ever since the Ryder Cup loss in October 2023. He has lost strokes on approach in every tournament since, besides the Genesis Invitational. He lost almost 10 strokes on approach combined at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship. But he has been in the lab working on his swing ever since. I believe Cantlay will bounce back, and his advantage off the tee will help him make the cut in every major in 2024.

How it works: Each week, our experts from PGATOUR.COM will make their selections in PGA TOUR Fantasy Golf. Each lineup consists of four starters and two bench players that can be rotated after each round. Adding to the challenge is that every golfer can be used only three times per each of four Segments.

Aside from the experts below, Golfbet Insider Rob Bolton breaks down the field at the Masters Tournament in this week's edition of Power Rankings .

Betting picks

WILL GRAY (Lead, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Scottie Scheffler (+400) – It’s not sexy, but I’ve spent too much time trying to rationalize a pick on someone else. At the end of the day, Scheffler was red-hot heading into his 2022 Masters triumph – and he’s playing materially better this time around.
  • Top 10: Ludvig Åberg (+225) – We all know the trends against first-time winners, but they don’t apply to the finish markets. Åberg led the Valero field in SG: Tee-to-Green last week and has all the skills required to contend in his major championship debut.
  • Longshot: Russell Henley (+6000) – The former Georgia Bulldog finished T4 here a year ago and has been known to heat up on the greens from time to time. Two top-5s in his last three starts show signs of promise.
  • H2H: Chris Kirk (-120) over Keegan Bradley – There aren’t a ton of course comps for Augusta National, but there are some undeniable parallels with the terrain of Kapalua. Expect the Sentry champ to play well, having finished T23 here last year, while Bradley has missed three of four cuts entering the week.

BEN EVERILL (Senior writer, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Xander Schauffele (+1600) – Look, we all know Scheffler has the chance to take this tournament and run with it but my process of elimination story brought me a winner last year and I’m banking it can do it again. Schauffele is ready to contend again… and you have to be knocking on the door to eventually be let in. Back off my blacklist and into the furnace!
  • Top 10: Sahith Theegala (+320) – I really like Theegala as an outright option here over the next few years. T9 a year ago with a hot finish and another year wiser to his game. He still has more foul balls off the tee than I’d like but if he can get away with those this week he’s a chance.
  • Longshot: Jason Day +6600 – Longshots don’t win the Masters and my campaign to move the threshold to +4000 this week fell on deaf ears (Zalatoris, Finau, Smith…). But how can I not plump for the man who – in his prime – had me declaring he’d win two green jackets in his lifetime? Multiple chances in the past… why not another.
  • Head to Head: Shane Lowry (-110) over Collin Morikawa – Lowry’s Tee-to-Green game has been good of late whereas Morikawa is in a ball-striking slump compared to his usual high standards. This is as much a Morikawa fade as anything else.

CHRIS BREECE (Senior Content Manager Golfbet)

  • Winner: Scottie Scheffler (+400) – I’ll be that guy. My three finalists were him, Spieth and Schauffele. It came down to who I trusted most to win. And it’s not even close.
  • Top 10: Matt Fitzpatrick (+275) – I’m staying patient and not backing off my support of him. He had the best weekend of anyone in San Antonio and I still feel like he has great golf ahead of him.
  • Longshot: Max Homa (+5500) – I know what you’re thinking. However, name me a player with more talent/star power whose odds are above +5000.
  • H2H: Shane Lowry (-110) over Collin Morikawa – I almost picked Lowry for the top 10. Generally plays well here and has been in good form.

MATT DELVECCHIO (Social content manager, Fantasy & Betting)

  • Winner: Will Zalatoris (+4000) – Beware the hungry dog runs faster. It’s comeback time for the previous major runner-up. He’s come back to good form from his back surgery with a three-game stretch of T13, T2 and T4 earlier in the year. He played with Tiger on Monday and saw how great he looked recovering from his own surgery. Will even talked about the influence Tiger's comeback has had on his own journey. People are sleeping on Zalatoris' comeback because of his MC at THE PLAYERS and T74 in Houston. Augusta will bring something out of him. Zalatoris is ready to be among the top players in the world and will show it this week.
  • Top 10: Bryson DeChambeau (+300) – It’s been four years since he called Augusta National a par 67. He is older and wiser now to say such a thing. DeChambeau's game fits Augusta well and I see him taking a big charge at this championship in a quest to become a two-time major champion.
  • Longshot: Sam Burns (+5500) – The only reason I’m taking him here is that I’ve liked him to win for the past couple of months now and he hasn’t. A wise man once said, “if you like a player to win soon, more likely than not they will”.
  • H2H: Lowry (-110) over Morikawa – Collin’s game is a mystery this year. Most alarming has been his iron play which in past years has been seen as unstoppable. Combo that with the fact that Lowry does like Augusta and is in relatively good form as of late. I’ll take the current form over past success.

The 88th edition of the Masters Tournament marks the first men's Major Championship of 2024, with the world's best players making their annual pilgrimage to one of sport's most iconic venues.

Augusta National-2147715649

A field of 89 players are set to tee it up at Augusta National aiming to add their name to the history of this great event, 12 months after Jon Rahm became the fourth Spaniard - joining Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal and Sergio García - to win the coveted Green Jacket.

Ahead of play beginning on Thursday, My Tour - the DP World Tour's free digital membership - offered its members the chance to send in their questions to golf broadcaster Ken Brown and he has answered a selection of them.

Q. How would you explain Augusta National and Masters week to someone who has never been?

Over the years, lots people have come up to me and said with astonishing delight 'I’ve got two tickets for the Masters', you can tell they're made up. Everyone goes with the very highest expectations and the experience is always better than they expected.

You don’t have to sell your house to buy a club sandwich and a drink too. There is no cooked food on the course, they don’t want any smells, while there is no running and no phones. The biggest star is the course that showcases the world's best golfers, and that's all you need.

The Patrons, a term aptly used by the Augusta National Club to describe the visitors to the tournament, are a regular customer, clients who become special supporters, and who are in turn given a five-star experience.

Q. Augusta National is reputed to have some of the hardest greens to putt on, what makes them so tough and how do they compare with other venues?

The greens at Augusta National have some larger slopes and undulations than most venues, harking back to the original design work of Bobby Jones and Alister MacKenzie, who where both lovers of the Old Course at St Andrews.

If you keep an eye out, the DNA of the fifth green at Augusta was taken from the 17th on the Old Course and the 14th is a ringer of the 5th.

The combination of the slopes and the green speeds make them a joyous, nerve racking, challenge. I hope this year the greens are reasonably firm, they loose an odd tooth if they get soft.

Q. What is your favourite hole at Augusta National and why?

The par 5 13th hole has everything. It asks so many questions, strategically a masterpiece. It’s the easiest hole in the world for a top professional to make a par on, but you don’t want to make a par. It’s a birdie or better you’re after, it temps you to take on the stream and chase that carrot. This gives the most colourful, spectacular hole in the world the jeopardy that makes it brilliant.

Q. Year in year out those with a "record" at Augusta seem to dominate the leaderboard. Is there a particular reason for this i.e. What makes an Augusta-suited player?

The ability to give the ball a good ride off the tee has always been a useful advantage, more so than most courses. With such treacherous pin positions, getting at them with a shorter iron becomes a big advantage over four rounds.

That said, I have to quote Peter Alliss’ mantra which he said every year: "It’s the six inches between the ears that separates out the winner.”

Q. Looking at the field, how do you rate Viktor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood’s chances to put on the Green Jacket this year? Are there any other DP World Tour members you think may do well?

Both Viktor and Tommy have made some amazing strides the last two seasons in their scrambling, the abilities to get down in two from around the green and save a par. It is another must-have skill if you want to win the Masters.

Ludvig Åberg playing his first Masters has all the attributes to play Augusta well, he got a look at the course in his college days and has had a couple of sneaky practice rounds earlier in the year.

Shane Lowry, too. If you can win the Open, you have the game to button up a large Green Jacket. I think green would suit him too!

Q. Who do you think will win this year, and why?

Hard to predict! I don’t know who’s going to win, but I hope that it might be one of the European Ryder Cup team.

It has been especially heart-warming for me to see the likes of Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, Sandy Lyle, Sir Nick, Ian Woosnam, Bernhard Langer, Danny Willett and Jon Rahm all win. It seemed an impossible dream until Seve and Sandy won.

Q. There have been a lot of alterations over the years to add length, do you think the masses can still win or is it just the longest hitters?

It's always been a trump card to be able to hit the ball 300 yards, the good news now most of the field can do that now. You’d get good odds betting on someone averaging under 300 yards off the tee this week winning.

The course would now need to be well over 8000 yards to produce the same challenge distance wise that Seve had when he first won in 1980.

In 1988, when I played the par three 12th, which is unchanged and still measures 155 yards, I played two seven irons and two eight irons over the four rounds. Rory McIlroy hits a seven iron 195 yards and a pitching wedge 150 yards, however on this special hole today's challenge is only a fraction easier.

Q. What’s more important at Augusta. Chipping or putting?

Chipping and putting are equally important, both have to be in top draw. If you are going to score well, having a good touch on and around the greens are a prerequisite.

Q. What is the single most important skill a player needs to win at Augusta?

You just have to flush it off the tee, playing the course after a poor tee shot is like eating a banana with the skin left on… oh and hole out well from inside six feet!

Q. What is your favourite Masters moment from over the years?

Working at the Masters with Peter Alliss and the BBC team will forever hold great memories for me. Can you imagine sitting next door to Alliss and watching the Masters, can it get any better! That was after going out on the course to hit a few putts on the 13th green to test the speed of the greens or show an interesting pin position for a Ken on the Course that I hoped the viewers would find interesting and then watch Adam Scott or Tiger Woods win a Green Jacket!

Every Masters has been a favourite of mine. I will certainly miss being on site this year.

Hope everyone who watches or listens enjoys the Masters and maybe, just maybe, Rory might win.
