Family Photo Tips For Travel: Getting Great Family Vacation Photos
When Dan and I first started traveling, selfies weren’t really a thing. I mean, you could hold a camera out, but it was significantly more difficult. Still, we didn’t really need any family photo tips because the quality of that little camera was so terrible that it didn’t really matter, anyway.
We’ve since gotten a bit better at photography, but tips for good family photos are very different from taking a good landscape photo. When you add kids into the mix, it gets trickier and often more fun!
Here are some of our best tips for family vacation photos, whether you’re using a smartphone or big lens. I hope they’re helpful for getting great family photos while traveling.
And if you really want some terrific family vacation photos where you can all get in the frame, be sure to check out Flytographer . It’s an awesome service to book a local photographer anywhere in the world either while you’re traveling or even in your home city. The quality of the photography tends to be really high, and the rates are really reasonable (it’s much cheaper than most local photographers in the area where we live). You can use the code PASSPORT to get $25 off your photo shoot.

Set Expectations for Family Vacation Photos & Make It Quick
There’s a reason this one is first – because it might be the most important! I don’t ever want to take away from an experience by focusing too much on getting a photo, and used to think taking photos first would detract from the experience.
But I’ve found that for our family, it usually works better to take the photo first. We do a few quick shots, and then the kids can play and explore. I always give them a heads up when I want to take a family shot so they know what to expect. And when I say I’ll take 2 minutes or 5 minutes or whatever for family shots, I try my best to stick to that. After that, we’re pretty much done!
My kids are usually in a more cheerful and less tired mood at the start of an outing, so we can get a couple of shots quickly. Plus, they know that if they cooperate, then the photos will take less time and they have more time to play – it’s a good incentive. I’ll usually continue to take a few shots after – either of the surroundings or candids of them playing. But their participation in photos is done at that point and they can play!
Have 3-5 Standard “Poses” For Family Travel Photos
When we first started taking more family photos while traveling, I found that it took at least 75% of the time just to set everyone up for the shot. Kids would argue over who to stand next to, that someone was blocking them, or that so-and-so was breathing on their neck. So annoying and time-consuming.
So I started choosing just a few “standard” shots that our family would do. Not only did it help our photos feel more consistent and connected, but it majorly cut down on the amount of time it took to get everyone set up. I could quickly say which position I wanted everyone in, and we generally knew where to go.
Family Photo Tips: Learn The Basics of Composition
This post does a great job at detailing some of the basics of composition. I’m a firm believer that you can take a fantastic shot with a smartphone and a terrible shot with a fancy camera. Composition is essential no matter what gear you use to shoot!
The rule of thirds is one of the most basic and important. While it’s tempting to place your family smack in the middle of your shot, consider moving off to the side a bit. Or is there a way to frame your family photo? Are there any leading lines in your environment to direct attention to you?
Family Travel Photo Tips: Experiment with Different Zoom Lengths
Sometimes it’s fun to get a wide angle so you can imagine the whole scene. And sometimes it’s nice to get a closer up view of the people. Or maybe you want your bodies closer to the camera, or perhaps you’d like the background to appear larger. Feel free to experiment to see what you like best!
Wear Colors That Contrast with Your Surroundings For Family Travel Pictures
While that beige sweater may feel cozy and warm at home, it will disappear if you do a lot of beach shots with the sand. Or that multicolored maxi dress? May feel painful to look at against brightly colored buildings. Think about the kind of surroundings in which you’ll be shooting, and try to come up with a few general outfits that look good there.
Remember that this doesn’t need to be complicated, and you don’t need a ton of outfits! We have some standard jackets ( women’s , men’s , kids ) that we almost always pack for travel. They’re brightly colored and lightweight, and generally pop against a lot of backgrounds. Easy, inexpensive, and functional!
Avoid “Witching” Times When Taking Family Photos on Vacation
Is it lunchtime or naptime and your toddler is melting down? Probably not the best time for a family shot. Sometimes those times are unavoidable, but try to if you can. Of course, this can get tricky with family vacation photos when everyone may be off their schedules. (Here are 10 tips for getting over jet lag with kids .) But try to have a quick snack beforehand and don’t push kids too much.
Carry The Right Gear
We didn’t have a tripod for years. We almost always asked strangers to take photos for us (I have a whole post with tips on getting strangers to take good family photos!), with the occasional selfie or propping up the camera.
And then we got a lightweight travel tripod and it made photo taking SO much easier. (Also available on Amazon .) While we do still occasionally ask strangers to take a family photo for us, it’s rare, because it’s so much easier to get the shot we want with a tripod. The tripod is also essential for nighttime photography or for capturing beautiful waves of water movement.
I shoot with this camera (and usually with this lens ), and I can take the photo remotely with the app on my phone. It is SO MUCH easier than doing the 10-second timer and running back and forth a million times! This camera remote also does the trick.
I also always like having a couple of extra batteries on hand. (For a phone, I ALWAYS carry an external charger – I super love this extra lightweight and small one , or this one that is slightly bigger is so powerful. I use it all the time, even at home!). Here’s more about our family’s photography gear .
Add Movement to Family Vacation Photos
Kids love to move their bodies. They like to dance and jump and kick and twirl. There’s no need for them to be perfectly still – let them move their bodies. Try to see if you can all jump at the same time. Spin your child in a circle. Have everyone run toward (or away from) the camera. Try tossing a kid in the air (but be careful!!).
If you’re shooting on manual, just make sure to keep your shutter speed to at least 1/400 or faster to avoid blur (unless you want to capture blur, which can be fun! Here’s a great post on capture blur ).
Family Vacation Photo Tips: Don’t Wait For The Perfect Moment
While adults may be able to spend hours waiting for the perfect light and creating the perfect pose, it’s unlikely that kids will. There are a few very rare occasions when we’ve gotten up early for sunset, but it’s super unusual. Sunset are more common, but happen far more frequently in the winter than in the summer. While that light might be perfect during those times, it won’t be perfect for my kids and for our family. It’s not worth it to me to get the perfect photo by ruining a whole day of our family vacation with grumpy moods.
Perhaps your kids are early risers and sunrise works well. That’s great! Or maybe you don’t mind sitting around reading a book while you wait for the right moment for crowds to dissipate. Whatever works for your family is just fine. Just know what you can happily tolerate and stick to that, and don’t let anyone tell you that you “have” to wait for a specific time to get a great photo. Focus on the right time to have fun and connect as a family instead.
Consider Height in Family Photos While Traveling
One unique thing with travel family photo tips versus regular travel photo tips is that families often have big height differentials! As you set up your scene, take that into account – where will a head stick out? Do you need to pick up a toddler so she or he isn’t too low?
For our family, we’ve found that it often works best to have the grown ups in the middle. That way, we don’t have a bunch of empty space above (shorter) kids heads in the middle of the photo, and it creates a nice pyramid shape to the outside. We also like experimenting with people in height order. But sometimes we do the opposite, and that’s okay, too! Take some time to look at past photographs or other ones that you see from friends and figure out your preferences.
Show Connection & Have Fun With Your Family Vacation Photos!
Remember, you want travel family photo tips because you actually LIKE your family and want to document those experiences together. You don’t want to document stiff robots who look like they’ve never met!
Be silly, have fun, and enjoy one another. I guarantee you’ll treasure pictures where you look happy and like you’re having fun way more than those with just the best smiles and lighting in the world.
Here are a few ideas for creating intimacy and connection.
- Hug or kiss
- Point out things that you notice, or have your child point something out
- Play a joke on a grown up (or a kid who won’t be upset by it)
- Toss in the air
- Turn a child upside down
- Run toward something (the camera, the beach, each other)
- Do cartwheels
- Throw snow in the air or at each other
- To get a baby to look at the camera, try tossing a small stone or other small object in that direction
Let The Kids Take A Turn Taking Your Family Photos on Vacation
I’m always amazed at how much more interested and cooperative my kids are with taking a family photo when I let them also take one by themselves. They feel so responsible and love seeing their work. Always place the camera strap around their necks, and help them as needed. Since I usually use my longer (and heavier) lens , I sometimes help my 6 year old hold it up (but my 10 and 8 year olds can use it on their own).
And especially while traveling, there are so many interesting things to see and remember. Letting your child capture one is great for helping them feel interested in the photo process and is one of my best travel photo tips!
Capture Details Through Your Vacation Photos
While it’s wonderful to get those epic family shots, you’ll also want to remember those little details – chubby fingers pointing at a crab, hair flowing back as a kiddo gazes up to the top of cathedral spires. Notice those little moments of wonder and try to capture a few of them, while reveling in enjoying the rest.
Try Looking Away From The Camera In Family Vacation Photos
If you really want to get a shot and the kids are just not having it, one of my favorite travel family photo tips is to have everyone look the other direction while hugging or holding hands. It’s a fun shot and it doesn’t matter if you have sad faces!
Play With Light in Your Family Trip Photos
Sometimes you want light shining on you, while other times a shadow may create interest. Or you can try shooting into the sun for some gorgeous light streaks! Try different times of day and see what you like for your personal style.
Shoot From Different Directions in Family Vacation Pictures
Instead of turning your bodies different directions from the camera, try turning the camera! Shoot your kids from up above, or lay down on the ground and shoot up. Crouch down to your kids’ eye level. Snap photos while twirling around. Turn the camera vertical. See the world through your lens from all kinds of different angles!
Capture Personalities Through Candid Family Trip Pictures
While it’s definitely nice to get a solid photo of everyone smiling, it’s also really nice to capture your kids’ personalities during family travel photos. Does your child think it’s hilarious when you stick straws in your mouth like a walrus? Does your child suck her or his thumb? Does your child hate hiking and sit down and refuse to move? Or maybe your child really loves bugs and is is always kneeling down to look for them.
Think of what makes your child unique or what their special interests are, and try to work those into your family photos while traveling. They’ll likely do those things naturally, so be ready with the camera to capture some of those moments while they’re happening. And then put the camera down after a few shots so you can go and join them!
Don’t Worry About Perfection in Your Family Travel Photos
While it’s nice to get everyone smiling and happy, you’ll likely look back on some of the crazy photos and smile nostalgically, or at least laugh. Similarly to capturing their personalities, the pictures are often better when you capture true emotions. Sometimes having a kid looking off to the side at an animal or someone making a grumpy face because their sibling just fell on them is exactly what will evoke fun and authentic memories of your trip.
Edit Your Travel Photos
There’s no need to spend a million hours editing, but a few light edits can make a world of difference. I always edit in Lightroom . I tried a million presets and hated them all, and came up with a pretty solid editing process that works for me.
But then I finally found the Jess Kettle presets and I LOVE them so much. They’re all I use because they look very similar to my own natural edits but just better. I love that they’re one click and make my photos look so much nicer.
View Your Physical and Digital Family Trip Pictures
So often, I take a million pictures and we end up not spending much time actually reviewing them. That sort of defeats the whole purpose of creating photos to help us relive those wonderful memories!
I find that when we take time to sit down and actually review the photos, it not only is so enjoyable to relive the memories, but it also helps us appreciate actually taking those photos. So the next time we’re out exploring, we feel more inclined to take a few quick ones, too. And be sure to print your photos (I do all my prints and photo books here )!! I also love inserting a few photos into a family video for a trip. (This family video course is inexpensive and so so helpful – you can use the code PREETHI for $5 off!)
We also really love having our photos cycle through on our Google Home hub . Our kids think it’s so fun to see all our photos, new and old!
Family Vacation Photo Tips: Know When To Be Done
Remember that the photos aren’t the memories themselves; they’re just there to document the memories. So don’t spend so much time shooting that you forget to actually enjoy and appreciate the experience. I try to limit my shooting to about 5% of our total time somewhere. That way, I have 95% of the time to actually BE with my family and create those wonderful travel memories. Be happy with what you’ve captured, and be willing to put the camera down.
I hope these tips for getting good family photos while on vacation are helpful! I’d love to hear something that has helped you in the comments!

I have wondered how you capture all these family photos from the day I started following you. Despite this fabulous post I’m still amazed by your skills! I struggle to feel like I’m taking away from the experience too much, but after reading this and thinking about it I realize, it may be an ask from the future but it’s a gift to the future. Because my children really cherish the photo books we make and the memories those pictures bring back. I’ve started to say, “Let’s get a picture so we can put it in your photo book and you can remember this day forever!” It’s surprising how often that’s enough to change the mood. Love this, and you. You’re an inspiration!
Oh you’re sweet. I’m so happy this has helped you a bit, and thank you so much for reading!!

20 Amazing Photos to Inspire You to Take Your Kids Everywhere
By Eric Stoen on April 4, 2019 • Last Updated April 4, 2019 This post may contain affiliate links. Read my Disclosure here .
The Best Places to Travel with Kids
When Travelocity asked me to select 20 of my favorite family travel photos, I spent a lot of time narrowing down the list based on photos I liked and destinations I recommend. In the end I came up with 20 that I think sum up our family travels well – 7 continents, 17 countries, and a mix of islands, temples, cities, theme parks, deserts and nature. Some show hotels. Some show activities. While I’ve never tried to do a definitive Best Places to Travel with Kids post, this list is a good start.
I’ll post the first few photos below. My entire Travelocity post is here . And I included a note about finance at the beginning of the post, but I’ll reiterate it here: virtually all of these destinations are more affordable than you may think. Please don’t do a quick internet search for peak dates and then come back to me saying that the hotel is $1,000/night or flights are $1,200/ticket. I spend many hours trip-planning so that we can travel as inexpensively as possible. Please search my website for “ affordable ” or “ frequent flier miles ” to find my money-saving tips. You may have to make some sacrifices to get a trip to fit into your budget, especially by looking at different dates or hotels, but it generally can be done.
My 20 Most Inspirational Family Travel Photos
Mammoth lakes, california.
Mammoth Lakes is a perfect destination for a long weekend – in the summer for hiking and in the winter for skiing. Bring a hammock!
Lake George (Mammoth Lakes), California
Kyoto, Japan
You can see Kyoto ‘s highlights, including Fushimi Inari Taisha and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, in just two days. If you have more time travel deeper and go outside the tourist zone. Regardless it’s a great destination for kids and adults.
Fushimi Inari Taisha – Kyoto
Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
We love the Ngorongoro Crater . It’s not far from Arusha and the international airport, and the wildlife concentration is amazing – there’s almost everything in the crater but giraffes. There are more exotic/remote places to head on safari, but for kid-friendliness, Ngorongoro is excellent.

Sydney, Australia
Sydney has become a frequent family travel destination for us. My kids love the animals in Australia, and I love the sites and events, and Sydney is a direct flight from LAX. A bonus: Australia’s seasons are opposite those in the US, so a cold winter day at home can turn into a summer beach day tomorrow down under.
Atacama Desert, Chile
Chile’s diversity is incredible – from Patagonia ‘s mountains and lakes to Santiago ‘s markets to the Moai of Easter Island . Our kids’ favorite destination in Chile, though, is the Atacama Desert . They particularly loved the desert hikes and sand dunes.

How to take stunning family travel photos
It happens all the time. You take your family on a trip and have the adventure of a lifetime.
You come back home and want to tell everybody about it! Or you want to make an album to be able to relive those amazing moments.
You go through all the photos on your smartphone…
To your disappointment, the photos simply don’t do justice to the adventure.
Don’t get me wrong. Taking great photos comes second to actually enjoying the trip. It is, in fact, rather challenging to find the balance between getting the perfect shot and simply enjoying the moment.
Still, after you take so much time deciding, planning, and packing for your upcoming trip, you wish you had something better to show for it.
Guess what? You do not need to be a professional photographer to get stunning family travel photos! In this article, I share some tips that, while basic, will make a huge difference in the result of your photos.
Let’s get a bit Technical
Composition, editing process, share and display the adventure, that’s it.
This post may contain affiliate links. Visit the Disclaimer page for more information.
It all starts here, right? After all, like it or not, you will not be able to get great photos with a subpar camera.
You will need to splurge a bit in order to have good glass and processing power.
Fancy phone
I’m an Android person. When my last phone died prematurely late last year (and for no reason), I purchased the Google Pixel 3a . Despite being the budget version of the Pixel line, I simply LOVE it.
The photos I have been getting with this tiny machine are quite stunning , all thanks to the processing power of the phone.
Of course, the more popular iPhones have the reputation of taking amazing photos.
I will not be doing reviews on this subject, but if you are on the market for a new phone, then take a look at the best camera phones on the market this year!
Compact Camera
The next best option is to have a dedicated, small camera during your trip like this compact Sony RX100 .
Why bother with a separate camera when phones can already do it all? There are five big reasons:
- It gives you the chance to keep your phone away while you are out exploring with your family.
- It eliminates the temptation to immediately post your photos on social media, potentially taking away time to be spent with your family.
- Saves your phone’s battery, which is important when traveling. You do not want to be left without the ability to call somebody or use the GPS.
- Dropping or breaking your camera would be bad, but it would be worse if you break your phone!
- The picture quality is simply better.
Without a doubt, there is the mild inconvenience of having to download photos from your camera. Most modern cameras nowadays, however, have WiFi connectivity that makes this process a breeze!
You can easily download photos to your phone, and use a free mobile photo editing program like Lightroom and edit your photos on the go.
Mirrorless or DSLR
Of course, nothing will come close in picture quality to a full-frame DSLR. The biggest disadvantages of DSLRs are the camera size and steep learning curves.
The smaller alternatives would be mirrorless full-frame cameras, although you will still need to deal with large lenses.
Crop factor cameras, such as those with APS-C sensors and Micro-Four-Thirds , are the middle ground between full-frame DSLRs and compact cameras. Not only are the camera bodies smaller, but lenses are also quite a bit more portable! Even though they have smaller sensors, you can still get amazing shots that are close to DSLR quality!

Tripods are Great
If you have the space for tripods, they are great to have on family trips to get photos of the whole family. It eliminates the need to hand over your camera to a stranger. Also, selfies are much better than simply using a selfie stick or your extended arm.
That being said, I have not carried a tripod since having my son in 2015 for reasons that, I think, are obvious. Carrying a baby and a diaper bag is hard enough! You have to be very selective about the camera gear you can bring, as I explain in this article.
The alternative in those cases is to bring a small tripod for your camera ( this is what I use ) or for your phone ( I have used this small tripod with included remote shutter ).

Don’t bother with Flash
A big mistake I see people doing all the time is using their on-camera or phone flash.
There are very few instances in which using flash actually improves the photo. The light from the flash is simply too harsh and unnatural to allow for a good image.
When it comes to flash photography, it is better to use a speed light that you can pivot and bounce off of a surface. The alternative is to use very good diffusers.
Is that something you want to be carrying around when going on family trips and adventures? Probably not.
The only time that using camera flash MIGHT be helpful, is to remove harsh shadows when shooting in broad daylight. You can also experiment when getting photos during sunset to light up the subject (instead of simply getting a silhouette photo).
Still, this will only work if you are close enough to the subject and if you know how to process the photos later to return some of the warmth to the subjects.
So, what should you do if you want to get photos but there isn’t enough light? You would need to get out of auto mode and start adjusting your camera settings. You would have to manually increase your ISO (with moderation, to avoid to much grain), open your camera aperture wide, and slow down the shutter a bit.
Some phones, including my Google Pixel 3a, have a “Night Sight” function that works similarly.
Are photos still not coming out right? Then put your camera away, be present, and simply enjoy the moment.
This is one of the most important aspects that most people do not know about.
What shooting RAW means is that the camera will not do the processing for you. You will do it later using better editing software.
Most cameras, and even advanced phones, have the option of shooting RAW images. For the most part, phones and cameras allow you to save the RAW unprocessed photo as well as a camera-processed JPG.
With RAW files, you can customize your image a lot more than simply editing a JPG. Why? Because RAW images save every bit of information in each pixel captured. RAW files are quite a bit heavier though, so make sure you keep this in mind in terms of memory storage.
On the contrary, camera-processed JPGs have already lost a lot of information that the camera’s processor deemed unnecessary. While this makes the file much smaller, it also takes away the option of customizing your shot.
Forget Auto Mode
Cameras are amazing, but they still don’t have your eye. They do not know the mood of the scene, or what exactly you are trying to capture.
Learning to work with the settings of the camera, even the most basic ones, will VASTLY improve your photography.
You will be left wondering why you did not start before!
Before jumping into full manual mode in your camera, start experimenting with aperture mode or shutter mode.
Aperture Mode
Aperture mode means that you will decide how open you want your lens to be, while the camera decides how fast to operate the shutter. This mode works well for most situations, as long as you also pay attention to your ISO.
For the most part, you want a large aperture (low F-stop) when shooting close subjects and portraits. If you are using your phone, then selecting “Portrait Mode” is essentially using a large aperture. It results in shallow depth of field and a nice, blurred background.
When shooting landscapes, you want a small aperture (high F-stop) to most of the scene in acceptable focus. Some phones will have a landscape mode that will achieve similar results.
Shutter Mode
You can experiment with shutter mode if you want to freeze action, such as your child in mid-air jumping into a lake, or a bird in mid-flight. In those instances, you want a fast shutter speed and high ISO.
Some phones will have a “Sports” or similar mode that freezes the action in the same way. If you use continuous shooting on your phone, you will also be accomplishing the same thing.
If you want a trail of movement, such as when taking photos of waterfalls or even fireworks, you can use low shutter speeds and low ISO. In those instances though, it is imperative to set the camera down on a steady surface or a tripod.
Rule of Thirds
If there is one thing everybody knows about composition, it is the famous rule of thirds. It is, in my opinion, the simplest concept in composition, and one that will improve your shots by leaps and bounds.
So, what is it? It basically means that you do not want to put your subjects in the middle of the shot. When shooting landscapes, it means not putting the horizon in the middle.
Instead, you want to divide your field of view into nine quadrants. You will then pay attention to the lines diving those quadrants. Your main subjects should be placed in the intersection of those lines. Your horizon, when possible, should be placed in the top third or bottom third.
This is quite easy to accomplish if you set the display in your camera to show the grid while taking your shot!
Cut Down on the Cheese
We all know how much we love our children’s fake smiles… said no parent, ever! Stop forcing them to smile for you, or at least keep it to a minimum.
Nothing beats the candid photos that you can capture when you simply allow your kids to enjoy and explore their surroundings.
Let your family be genuine. Work on your ability to capture those moments instead of making them face you and show you their teeth…
Change your Angle
Avoid shooting from the comfort of your standing position, particularly when you want candid photos of your family.
Put those quads to work and get low. See and capture the world from the perspective of your kids. This is one of the easiest ways to get amazing photos.
Sometimes, you just want to get high…
Don’t worry! I am still talking about camera angles 😉 You can use a tripod or get up on your tippy-toes. Shoot straight down and capture the action that way. This is great for getting photos of your kids playing or eating!
When to get Close
Not all photos have to include faces. And not all trip photos have to include vast landscapes.
Get creative and zoom in on the action. Sometimes, it is the little things that your kids enjoy and will remember the most. Make sure you capture those moments.
When to get Far
When taking photos of the places you visit, avoid simply posing everybody in front of the location.
Instead, you want your family to be part of the scenery by catching them in the act of enjoying their time.

Photo Selection
The process of editing photos can take a long time, so you have to be very picky about which photos deserve the time and effort.
The first thing to do is delete all the photos that are duplicates or that simply did not turn out great. I use two criteria when choosing which photos to keep:
- Would I want to display a large print of the scene?
- Is this photo capturing a memorable family moment?
If the answer to at least one of these questions is YES, then the photo is a keeper. If the answer to both is NO, then delete.
If you answer YES to Question 1, or to both, then that photo can move to the editing process.
If the answer is NO to Question 1, but YES to Question 2, then I will probably keep the photo, but I will just use the camera-generated JPG and not process any further.
Editing Programs
I already spoke about shooting RAW images. As great as your camera may be, it may still not be able to catch the colors or the scene accurately. For photos that met at least Question 1, then the next step will be to process the RAW file.
There are a few free programs to do that on your phone. I have used Snapseed and Lightroom, which have quite a bit of customization and tutorials.
For your desktop, the best photo editing software programs are Photoshop and Lightroom; however, these programs are not free. But fear not! There are a number of free alternatives you can look into, including Darktable and GIMP.
If you think shooting RAW is a lot more work than you intend to do, then these programs will also work for editing standard JPG files.
Simple Editing Fixes
Giving tutorials on photo editing is well beyond the scope of this article. After all, it is intended for non-photographers!
That being said, here are a few things you can play with using the free programs mentioned:
- Crop the image to meet the Rule of Thirds
- Adjust the exposure to make the image lighter or darker
- Increase the temperature of the photos a touch, especially when taken in broad daylight.
- Reduce highlights
- Lighten the shadows
- Increase clarity a touch, but don’t overdoit!
- Add some vignetting
When I am short on time, these are the minimum adjustments I check. If I have more time, or if I see photos that have a lot more potential, then I will check and adjust other settings.
Now that you have taken amazing photos of your adventure, it is time to do something with them! What you do is entirely up to you.
You can also simply create digital albums in Shutterfly or Dropbox, and share your favorite ones in social media if you desire.
Photo books are my favorite way to display our family travel photos. Photobooks are so versatile that you can use them for more than just travel photos! Take a look at this list of ideas for photobooks.
Do not forget to display your work with pride. Pick one or two of your favorite photos and make a large print. Set it up on a wall, and start making your very own collection of stunning family travel photos.
I hope this gives you enough information to start taking amazing family travel photos, regardless of the equipment you bring with you.
Now, start preparing for your next adventure, and grab yourself a FREE copy of my kid’s packing list while you are at it 🙂

The Best Photos of the British Royal Family on Easter 2024
King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by a small group of Windsors at church today.

While it's unclear whether or not the modern day Windsors participate in an Easter egg hunt on the grounds of the estate, royals of centuries past have enjoyed the tradition; In 1833, 14-year-old Princess Victoria (the future Queen Victoria), wrote in a letter , "Mama did some pretty painted & ornamented eggs, & we looked for them." Years later, she and her husband Prince Albert continued this tradition for their children; in a journal entry in 1869, Queen Victoria wrote , "After breakfast, the children, as usual on this day looked for Easter eggs."
This year's Easter gathering will look different from previous years , as Prince William and Kate Middleton won't be in attendance with their children following the news of Kate's cancer diagnosis , and due to King Charles's cancer diagnosis, it was a much smaller group.
Here, see all the best photos of King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the rest of the royal family in Windsor on Easter 2024:
King Charles and Queen Camilla appeared to be in good spirits as they arrived at the Easter Mattins Service.
Queen Camilla opted for a green dress and matching hat.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh smiled as they arrived at church.
The Duchess looked lovely in purple.
James, Earl of Wessex was the only member of the younger generation of royals in attendance. (He's 16, and the youngest of the late Queen Elizabeth's grandchildren .)
Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, hasn't attended the Easter Mattins Service since 1991 , before her divorce from Prince Andrew, but was there today.
Prince Andrew joined his family at church.
Princess Anne waved to the gathered onlookers.
Anne was joined by her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. Unlike other years, the royals mainly arrived by car this year.
Queen Camilla and King Charles smile as they depart from the service.
The Queen received a festive bouquet on the way out.
The King even greeted well-wishers.
