  • Trivia Jennifer Aniston cut her arm while filming the episode. As a result, she can be seen wearing a bandage in some of the scenes.
  • Goofs At one point in the ping-pong game, Monica scores a point but Mike informs her she has to forfeit the point because her non-paddle holding hand touched the table and that is against official rules. Later in the game, Mike scores the game point and Monica gets upset that she lost. However, by his own logic, Mike could not have won because his non-paddle holding hand touched the table before he scored.

Our Favorite ‘Friends’ Travel Episodes, Ahead of the Show’s 25th Anniversary

By Louis Cheslaw

Friends S4 E23

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since runaway bride Rachel Green left Barry at the altar and ran into Central Perk in her wedding dress in the very first episode of Friends . With the impending anniversary of the pilot's premiere on Sunday, we decided to take a trip down memory lane. Sure, Friends episodes are best known for their New York setting—and for giving a generation of viewers unrealistic expectations of how much space they could afford in a West Village rental—but it's easy to forget that, on occasion, the cast traveled too.

While it can't exactly be said that Friends taught a generation of Americans to go see the world, its episodes at least gave its millions of international viewers a primer on how (not) to travel. After all, Ross in "The One With Rachel's Dream" (season nine, episode 19) may be the most authoritative voice we have about how much is too much to take from a hotel bathroom: “You have to find the line between stealing and taking what the hotel owes you."

We've rounded up some of the more memorable journeys the gang took, from the time Monica's hair couldn't handle the tropical heat in Barbados to Joey discovering the best abbey he'd ever seen in London . Of course, Friends contained many more travel-adjacent storylines than what the below. The final episode revolved entirely around Ross chasing Rachel from JFK to Newark airport—and who can forget Chandler's jaunt to Yemen to escape Janice or David's back and forth to Minsk? But for now, fire up Netflix and enjoy the show's most iconic travel episodes.

Friends S5 E23

On location at Caesars Palace.

Las Vegas: "The One in Vegas"

The two-part episode that closed out season five is filled with moments frequent travelers will recognize—from mid-flight boredom to complicated hotel check-ins—and some experiences that fliers under 30 definitely won't, like calling the airline to book your ticket. Once the friends unpacked, the episodes made full use of Sin City , with scenes in Caesars Palace and Ross and Rachel's drunk wedding, which likely inspired a generation of viewers to make impulsive decisions long before The Hangover ever hit the big screen. Season five, episodes 23 and 24.

Friends S9 E23

Before Google Drive, one mistake could wipe an entire dinosaur speech.

Barbados: "The One in Barbados"

"Dino-week"—a.k.a. Ross's paleontology conference—brought the friends to Barbados for the weekend at the end of season nine. Unfortunately, a fictional tropical depression forced the entire cast to stay within the confines of the conference center (or who are we kidding, a Los Angeles studio lot) and featured star cameos from Paul Rudd, Hank Azaria, Aisha Tyler, and, of course, Monica's humidity hair. Season nine, episode 23.

Friends S4 E23

British royal Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, (right) starred in the London episode.

London: "The One With Ross's Wedding"

Joey may have screamed "London baby!" 71 times in the episode, but it's Ross's "Rachel" at the altar that's the unforgettable line from this one. The show traveled to London in 1998, partially in response to the show's booming popularity across the pond. The cast were hounded by fans as they shot scenes at Westminster Abbey (which Joey calls his "favorite abbey"—sorry Downton ), Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and Sir Richard Branson both made cameos. Season four, episodes 23 and 24.

Friends S3 E17

Rule #1 for locking your keys in the car? Don't do that.

Upstate New York: "The One Without The Ski Trip"

In season three, the cast was foiled in their plans to get to Rachel's ski cabin upstate. But it wasn't a total wash: millions of viewers gained an insight into what not to do on a road trip , from locking car keys inside the car to forgetting to bring back-up toilet paper for the un-monitored rest-stops. Maybe call AAA, instead of Ross, next time. Season three, episode 17.

Friends S4 E1

Always wear sunscreen.

Montauk: "The One At The Beach"

To close out the third season, the gang took a trip to Montauk along with Ross's new girlfriend, Bonnie, who Rachel convinces in a fit of jealousy to shave her head. Rather than staying at Gurney's , the group rented a house that inexplicably had sand instead of a floor, and taught a global audience that the best way to calm a jellyfish sting is to... you know. Season three, episode 25.

Friends: the 10 best trips the main characters took, ranked.

The main six on Friends occasionally ventured out of NYC and some of their most memorable trips include Vegas, London, and Barbados.

Friends predominantly takes place in New York but the main six occasionally ventured out and visited new places. Across the 10 seasons, the gang traveled to London for Ross' wedding, Barbados for a paleontology convention, and many other destinations for various reasons.

RELATED: 10 Best Episodes Of Friends, According To Reddit

Numerous trips didn’t go to plan while others only caused more drama, but all were brilliant to watch. Fans were so used to seeing the main six in their natural habitat on Friends , whether that be the coffee house or their apartments, so when they entered unfamiliar territory, hilarity always ensued.

Chandler Goes To Yemen (S4, Ep15)

In "The One with All the Rugby,"  Chandler finds himself in a sticky situation on Friends  when he reignites his romance with Janice and has no way of getting out of it. To officially rid himself of her, he lies and says his company is transferring him to Yemen the next day.

The lie goes too far and Chandler ends up at the airport with Janice refusing to leave until she sees his plane take off. Forced to buy an expensive plane ticket, Chandler boards the plane to Yemen and then comes straight back, finally free of Janice.

Monica And Chandler Go To Jersey (S5, Ep5)

Monica and Chandler find it difficult to get time alone so decide to spend a romantic weekend together in Jersey. When they arrive, Monica isn't happy with their room and asks twice if they can switch.

While the room switching is going on, Chandler loses interest in spending time with Monica and turns his attention to a high-speed car chase on TV. The trip ends in disaster for both of them, however, it's a memorable one because the misplacement of Monica's eyelash curler allows Joey to work out what they’ve been up to.

Ross And Rachel Go To The Stevens' Family Cabin (S6, Ep22)

When Paul threatens to have Ross fired for dating Elizabeth, the two continue dating in secret. They sneak off to spend the weekend together at Elizabeth's family cabin, however, Paul inadvertently takes Rachel to the same place for a romantic weekend.

RELATED: The 10 Funniest Guest Characters From Friends

Although Rachel does her best to prevent Paul from discovering Ross, Paul's furious when he catches him trying to escape out the window. After telling Ross that he'll be fired, Ross subtly informs Paul that he saw him doing his love machine dance. Desperate to keep it a secret, he reluctantly lets Ross and Elizabeth continue their relationship. David Schwimmer's hilarity shone through on this trip and Bruce Willis' dance is something to remember.

Phoebe, Rachel, And Joey Go To See Phoebe's Dad (S2, Ep21)

Phoebe's backstory and childhood are some of the  saddest things about her on Friends , even though she has a positive outlook on life. In "The One with the Bullies," Phoebe decides to go and visit her dad with Joey and Rachel. When she arrives, she is attacked by the family dog who she later accidentally runs over.

When she returns the injured dog, the woman who lives there tells Phoebe that Frank abandoned them several years ago, similar to her. While Phoebe doesn’t find exactly what she was looking for on this trip, it was some consolation that she met Frank Jr, the half-brother she never knew she had.

Ross And Chandler Go To Vermont (S9, Ep19)

When Chandler can't get a refund from a hotel in Vermont, Ross tags along with him and gets a sugar high from eating too much maple candy. After arriving, they can't find Chandler's reservation and he is forced to pay $600 for a room.

Ross reassures Chandler that they can make their money back by stealing what the hotel owes them, thus loading up on several apples, batteries, and shampoo bottles. As they're about to leave, Ross' suitcase buckles and everything they stole falls onto the lobby floor. The comedy value of this trip was highly unexpected and Ross' behavior is utterly hilarious.

The Gang Goes To Barbados (S9, Ep23/S10, Ep1)

When Ross is selected to deliver a keynote speech in Barbados, he invites the gang to accompany him and the whole trip is one big romantic wreck. Charlie breaks up with Joey and ends up with Ross, Rachel admits her feelings for Joey, and Phoebe trades David in for Mike when he returns.

Before Phoebe, Chandler, and Monica listen to the new couples making out through the wall, Monica and Mike get involved in a rather long and intense game of ping pong. The best part about this trip is that it set up the funniest episode in Friends ' next season , "The One Where Ross Is Fine."

The Gang Goes To Montauk (S3, Ep25/S4, Ep1)

Wanting information about her parents, Phoebe invites the gang to stay at her client's beach house in Montauk. With no source of entertainment, they amuse themselves with "Strip Happy Days" where Ross and Rachel’s unresolved feelings hit a boiling point. However, Bonnie's entrance disrupts things.

RELATED: The 10 Worst Storylines On Friends, According To Reddit

Rachel later admits that she's still in love with Ross, but an 18-page letter sends things sideways once more. Phoebe unintentionally finds her birth mother, while Monica, Chandler, and Joey are left traumatized thanks to a jellyfish sting. No character has fond memories of Montauk, but it made for a brilliant transition from season 3 to season 4.

Monica And Chandler Go To Ohio (S10, Ep9)

In "The One with the Fertility Test," Monica and Chandler find out they can’t conceive naturally and it’s one of the saddest episodes in Friends .  They decide they want to adopt and travel to Ohio to meet Erica, a woman who is considering them to adopt her baby.

Things get off to an awkward start when they realize their file has been confused with another couple. They eventually come clean, but Erica refuses to continue their interview. To make her reconsider, Chandler gives Erica a heartfelt speech about their desire to have children and how Monica will make a great mother. He succeeds and because of this, fans get to watch them adopt the twins in the final episode.

The Gang (Minus Phoebe) Goes To London (S4, Ep23/24/S5, Ep1)

Emily and Ross' whirlwind romance brings Joey, Monica, and Chandler to London for Ross' wedding, which becomes the catalyst in Monica and Chandler's relationship. As Phoebe is too heavily pregnant to fly, Rachel uses that as an excuse to stay in New York.

When everything seems to be going to plan, Rachel heads to London to tell Ross that she still loves him, however, after arriving she changes her mind. While saying his vows, Ross says Rachel's name, and everyone is left in pure disbelief. This episode features one of the most shocking cliffhangers in comedy TV and is a Friends trip that fans will remember forever.

The Gang Goes To Vegas (S5, Ep23/24/S6, Ep1)

When Monica and Chandler decide to merge their anniversary with visiting Joey on the set of his new movie, everyone tags along, and the gang head to Vegas. At Caesars Palace, Phoebe deals with a lurker while Joey discovers a million-dollar idea in the form of an identical hand twin. Chandler and Monica argue about Richard, meanwhile, Ross' pen prank on Rachel causes them to get blackout drunk.

After Monica and Chandler make up, they hastily decide to get married. However, a severely intoxicated Ross and Rachel beat them to it. The season 4 finale seemed impossible to match, but this remains one of the most unexpected things to ever happen in Friends and the setting of Vegas makes the episode pure brilliance.

Episode 2: A girls' trip (6 people, 40s, close friends)

Vacation design株式会社

Characters:

Rie (45 years old): Medical equipment company sales manager. Her work and private life are fulfilling, but she sometimes wants to spend time relaxing with friends.

Kumi (44 years old): Housewife. She struggles with raising three children every day, but she looks forward to occasional breaks.

Tomoko (45 years old): University professor. She is immersed in research every day but values interacting with friends.

Yoko (44 years old): Freelance writer. She travels around for interviews every day and wants to enjoy time with friends after a long time.

Junko (45 years old): Gallery owner. She has turned her passion for art into her job, but in her private life, she likes to relax with like-minded friends.

Mika (44 years old): Culinary researcher. She seeks inspiration for new dishes and hones her skills daily.

Six women gathered at the luxurious villa "experience villa Nasushiobara" in Nasushiobara. Close friends since college, their faces were filled with anticipation as they met for the first time in a while.

"Everyone must have been busy with work and child-rearing. It's important to take a leisurely vacation like this once in a while," Rie said, and Kumi agreed. "That's right. Having this time is what allows us to keep going from tomorrow."

Upon arriving at the villa, the first thing that caught their eye was the open living room and dining area. "What a lovely interior!" Junko exclaimed in admiration. "The sofas and tables are stylish and look comfortable."

friends trip 5 episode 1

Next, the spacious kitchen caught Mika's attention. "With these facilities, we could even make authentic dishes. Enjoying cooking together is one of the delights of a girls' gathering, isn't it?" "That's right, I'm looking forward to Mika's home cooking," Tomoko smiled.

"Hey, look! They even have a proper private sauna and stone bath here!" Yoko exclaimed happily. "It's like coming to a spa, even though we're on a trip!" "It's the perfect location to heal tired bodies," Rie also narrowed her eyes.

friends trip 5 episode 1

After carrying their luggage to their rooms, they headed to the villa's pride, the free-flowing hot spring. "Isn't this lotion-like water the best?" Rie immerses her body in the smooth water. "The effects of the hot spring make the fatigue disappear in no time," Tomoko also looks comfortable.

friends trip 5 episode 1

"By the way, how was the stone bath?" Junko asks Kumi, who had gone in earlier. "It was fantastic. The comfort of the far-infrared rays was amazing. I sweated a lot and felt like I detoxed both my body and mind!" "Then, maybe I should try it too," Mika is also intrigued.

After refreshing their minds and bodies in the hot spring and stone bath, it's Mika's turn to show off her skills. Using fresh ingredients from Nasu, she creates a variety of body-friendly creative dishes. "Mika, did you make all of this by hand?" Yoko is surprised to see the colorful dishes lined up on the table. "The vegetables in Nasu are really good. Ideas for dishes kept popping up one after another, and I ended up making too much," Mika replies with a smile.

"The wine pairs perfectly too, it's the best combination," Rie takes a satisfying sip, and Junko nods. "Cooking is all about love being the best seasoning, isn't it?"

The women's laughter doesn't cease until late into the night. Honest conversations that can't usually be heard bloom, and sometimes even ticklish love stories come out. "Ah, I laughed so hard for the first time in a while! Being with everyone makes me feel younger," Tomoko says while wiping the laugh lines at the corners of her eyes. "That's right, we all need to stretch our wings like this once in a while," Kumi agrees.

On the second day, they take a trip to "Nasunogahara Park" near the villa. "On such a nice sunny day, we want to fully enjoy nature outside, don't we?" Yoko inhales the clear air to her heart's content. During the walk, Junko stops. "Hey, look at that. There are cute rabbits." The women can't help but cheer at the sight of a family of rabbits running through the field.

friends trip 5 episode 1

"We walked a lot, so I'm thirsty," Rie said when they had circled the park. "There's a café in just the right place. Let's have some tea, everyone," Kumi points to a store with a cute exterior.

At the café, each of them orders their desired menu items. "Fufu, even the cake decorations are stylish," Junko's gaze is fixed on the shortcake Rie ordered. "I can sense the art. Presentation is important, isn't it?" "I like the coffee ground from the beans here. The aroma is so good that I keep repeating it," Tomoko's words are agreed upon by Mika as well. "Really, you can tell it's a particular about its shop."

Returning to the villa, the mahjong room caught Yoko's eye. "Hey, why don't we play mahjong since we're here?" "That's a good idea. I also want to exercise my brain with a brain sport once in a while," Junko's suggestion is agreed upon by Kumi, Tomoko, and Yoko. On the other hand, Rie says she has a work call and heads to a different room, while Mika decides to spend a relaxing time in the hot spring. The mahjong room is a paid option, and a phone call is required for same-day use. When you call, you are given a PIN code, which you can use to enter the room.

friends trip 5 episode 1

Rie headed to the workation room. This is also a paid option and requires a PIN code. Entering the room, she finds dual displays, a keyboard, mouse, and a high-end office chair. "I can't believe it's so well-equipped... I think I can focus and work," Rie sits down, impressed.

friends trip 5 episode 1

Meanwhile, Mika goes to the hot spring again. "Since I'm here, I think I'll alternate between the hot spring and the cold water bath," Mika soaks in the free-flowing hot spring and rests her body slowly. After a while, she moves to the adjacent cold water bath and immerses herself in the cold water. "Alternating between the hot spring and cold water bath feels so good," Mika closes her eyes in comfort.

In the mahjong room, the game between the four of them was getting heated. "Ron!" Yoko claps her hands happily. "As expected, Yoko is strong," Tomoko was amazed. "No, no, I'm also out of practice, so my hands are dull. But it's so easy when the mahjong table is fully automatic."

As they become engrossed in mahjong, it's time for dinner. "How about we all make pizza for dinner today?" Mika stands in the kitchen, and the other women follow. "I'll roll out the dough!" "I'll cut the toppings." The sight of them enjoying making pizza together is like they've returned to their student days.

"Mmm, delicious!" Kumi's expression as she bites into the finished pizza is filled with happiness. "When we make it together, it's not only fun but also twice as delicious," everyone nods at Rie's words.

After the meal, they chat to their heart's content. "It's been so long since I've had this kind of time. Spending it with everyone makes me feel young at heart," Junko says while tilting her wine glass. "That's right. We can't usually be honest, so I think it's necessary to bare our hearts like this once in a while," Tomoko smiles at Yoko's words. "Listening to everyone's stories, I also had lots of new discoveries."

The fulfilling time passes in the blink of an eye, and they reluctantly face the morning of checkout. "Thank you for the fun time. Let's get together like this again," Rie looks around at everyone and suggests. "Yes, definitely! I'll serve as the organizer next time," Yoko readily agrees, and the other women voice their agreement one after another.

In the car on the way back, Kumi suddenly speaks up. "Hey, experience villa Nasushiobara was really wonderful, wasn't it?" "Yes, I think it's the perfect place to relax with friends," Tomoko looks back. "The hot spring, the gorgeous rooms. Being surrounded by nature, we were able to heal from our daily fatigue," Mika also expresses her thoughts. "More than anything, I was happy to be able to laugh a lot with everyone after a long time," the women's expressions soften at Junko's words.

The two nights and three days at experience villa Nasushiobara. It was an irreplaceable holiday where they could be released from daily stress and reconfirm the bonds with their close friends. Although they each walk their own paths in life, they were able to feel once again the preciousness of sharing time like this. Recharged, they will likely walk their own paths strongly again from tomorrow.

To the Hashira Training: is Demon Slayer season 4 a movie?

Demon Slayer Hashira Training arc

Demon Slayer season 4 is not a movie . Instead, this 'To the Hashira Training' release follows the same path as the Swordsmith Village arc: the first episode of season 4 was bundled in with the finale of the previous season as a preview movie-of-sorts.

Titled To the Hashira Training, the new Demon Slayer 'movie' (we hesitate to call it a full feature-length adventure) specifically combines Swordsmith Village arc episode 11 with Demon Slayer season 4, episode 1.

That got a limited release in February and is now out of cinemas. Demon Slayer season 4, including an hour-long first episode, will release this May.

Demon Slayer season 4 story: which manga chapters is it adapting?

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer season 4 will follow on from the end of the Swordsmith Village arc (chapters 98-127 of the manga) by adapting the Hashira Training arc (chapters 128-136) . If you’re following on in the bundled editions, that’s the latter half of Volume 15 and the first three chapters in Volume 16.

No spoilers here, but the source material does give us a taste of what to expect.

The book synopsis reads: "Tanjiro goes to see the Stone Hashira, Himejima, who intends to prepare him for the battles to come. The training to become a Hashira – a high-ranking member of the Demon Slayer Corps – is intense and demanding, and earning Himejima’s approval seems impossible, but Tanjiro won’t give up!"

In straightforward terms, expect Tanjiro to harness more of his powers with the help of various Hashira. The Stone Hashira, Water Hashira, Insect Hashira, Wind Hashira, and Snake Hashira have already been confirmed for the Hashira Training arc, with the 'To the Hashira Training' outlining the group's plans to train the Demon Slayer Corps with a series of well-honed regimens that cater to each Hashira's style.

The upcoming season should also revolve around the emergence of Nezuko’s new powers, namely that she can ‘conquer the sun’ and exist as a demon in the daylight. Series antagonist Muzan Kibutsuji, as shown in the Swordsmith Village finale, is aware of those developments and will be hot on her tail.

Looking further ahead, it also appears to be the last step before the very final anime storyline, dubbed the Final Battle/Infinity Castle arc.

Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae), Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono), Inosuke (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), and Nezuko (Akari Kitou) will all return to the Demon Slayer season 4 cast in the Hashira Training arc.

The Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka (Takahiro Sakurai), Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro (Kenichi Suzumura), Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho (Saori Hayami), Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa (Tomokazu Seki), Mist Hashira (Kengo Kawanshi), Love Hashira (Kana Hanazawa) and Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima (Tomokazu Sugita) will each be a major presence as Tanjiro begins his training. The former Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui (Katsuyuki Konishi) will also return.

Demon Slayer season 4 trailer: new Hashira Training teaser

The most recent trailer for the Hashira Training season was released in March . While it only features footage from the first episode of the upcoming season, it does tease the upcoming arc. The Hashira will guide Tanjiro through to potentially being a Hashira-in-waiting, and they will train the next generation of Demon Slayer Corps against the surviving Twelve Kizuki/Upper Moons.

The first Demon Slayer season 4 trailer featured a quick recap of the arcs covered so far, plus the confirmed clutch of characters in the new arc. You can also see the new poster below, which highlights the Hashira involved in the titular training.

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer season 4 episode count: how many episodes are in the Hashira Training arc?

Demon Slayer

The first season of Demon Slayer consisted of 26 episodes – but episode counts have been dwindling since then. The Mugen Train and Entertainment District arcs were seven and 11 episodes respectively, while Swordsmith Village was also 11 episodes.

Hashira Training, however, only has a small amount of source material to draw from. Without some serious padding, it’s unlikely to stack up to even Mugen Train’s truncated seven-episode run. While it’s been confirmed as a full season, we wouldn’t be surprised for it to be a short pit stop on the way to bigger things – a six-episode season (tops) would be our guess. But even something as short as two or three episodes could be realistic, especially given the one-hour premiere.

Where to watch Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer

The first three seasons of Demon Slayer are available to watch on Crunchyroll . The first three seasons are now also available on Netflix and Hulu in some regions.

‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’ Is a Keeper: TV Review

Legendary talk show host and hot wing evangelist returns to television with hilarious new Max travel show

Conan O'Brien tries Thai boxing with predictable results.

The key to understanding Conan O’Brien’s comedy is knowing that it comes from a point of kindness. Yes, I know in this age of comics punching down , this kind of compliment may leave you with a neon “Must Avoid!” sign flashing in your bleary eyes — but stay with me.

Popular on Variety

Conan’s three-decade run as a talk show host ended in 2021 under less-than-optimal circumstances , as he wound down his TBS show during the pandemic year. He talked to longtime sidekick Andy Richter , who sat among dozens of cardboard cutout fans. O’Brien quipped that they were last in line for the vaccine because the CDC had looked at the shows and “they said ours is the least essential of pretty much all the non-essential shows.”

There was some truth in that, but Conan had already started his move to other outlets , starting with his “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast in 2018.

The podcast is funny and sweet, especially the pre-interview segments with longtime associate Sona Movsesian and producer Matt Gourley. Conan mocks Sona’s legendarily bad work habits. and Gourley’s flea market predilections, but any kind of comedic acid is reserved for the self-lacerating O’Brien. (On a recent episode, Conan runs down his own looks, and it is cruel and hilarious, but part of me is thinking, “Dude, cut yourself a break.”). The only time things get contentious is when Conan visited by longtime friend Kevin Nealon — perhaps the podcast’s best episodes.

The podcast had an offshoot called “Conan O’Brien Needs a Fan,” on which O’Brien would talk to a fan, often in a faraway land. That led to O’Brien traveling to Norway, Thailand, Ireland and Argentina to meet them. Why? Well, a dour and ominous narrator, aka Werner Herzog, offered this rationale at the beginning of each episode: “Once a proud talk show host, he’s been driven by a changing ecosystem to a drier and harsher climate: the weekly podcast. Here , without the nourishment of his studio audience, this clown with dull , tiny eyes, the eye of a crudely painted doll , is forced to feed on that meagerest of morsels: the random call-in fan. Unhinged by the feral scent of their mild enthusiasm. He scavenges in distant lands uninvited, fueled by a bottomless hunger for recognition , and the occasional selfie.”

It’s a self-deprecating bit, but it’s also the truth. Conan has been doing travel shows for years, most notably one to Movsesian’s native Armenia , as well as a chaotic trip to Finland where O’Brien is treated as a god because of his physical resemblance to the Finnish president who happens to be a woman. He clearly loves the journey. And he loves the comedy set piece–see his classic “Old Timey Baseball” opus — which has always been an essential part of his appeal.

The encounters work because O’Brien doesn’t treat his new friends as fools — rather , he revels in the fact that he is the fool. (See his instant-classic appearance on “Hot Ones,” the show where interviews are conducted while the celebrity consumes increasingly acidic chicken wings. Conan rhapsodizes on comedy being all around us as green-yellow mucus drips down his nose.) Of course, there are exceptions made for old friends. Conan goes out for asada in Buenos Aires with the effete and erudite Jordan Schlansky, a longtime producer and frenemy. Schlansky and Conan are the Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon of American cable , and on his TBS show and podcast the two have tangled over Japanese customs, Conan hosting Schlansky’s bachelor party in his own office, and Schlansky hiding an expensive Espresso machine in an inaccessible part of their offices. (As with the Courtney Thorne-Smith segment, Conan’s visceral malice toward Schlansky works because it is so out-of-character).

During the Argentina episode, they get into a fierce argument about the proper pronunciation of the word “tango,” Conan then licks Schlansky’s favorite cut of meat — wait, that came out wrong. After, they go on an ill-fated trip to the Pampas, where both fail spectacularly at gaucho life.

Not everything works. O’Brien does a self-referential bit about the expensive drone he is using on the first show , and for the next four episodes I am distracted every time I see a beautiful shot thinking about the drone’s specifications and capabilities. Some of the stuff goes on a bit long, but so does my writing.

These are minor quibbles. If you’re a Conan fan, you’ll treasure the trips, just like his completists treasure encounters with a masturbating bear. The series ends with Conan tracing his family’s roots in Ireland. He comes across his ancestor’s land, makes a few jokes, but then looks at the land, clearly moved. Conan O’Brien has played the fool long enough; we grant him this moment of humanity with all our hearts.

All four episodes of “Conan O’Brien Must Go” are now available on Max.

The friends head to Barbados for Ross ' conference. Instead of enjoying the sunshine, the weather is overcast at first, and then heavily rainy. Prior to their arrival, David asks Chandler for advice on his relationship with Phoebe due to her accidentally calling him Mike before. Chandler tells him that the breakup between Phoebe and Mike was because Mike didn't want to get married, but Phoebe did.

When they arrive in Barbados, Monica 's hair gets all poofy due to the humidity. Chandler tells Monica about how David is going to propose to Phoebe. This causes Monica to meddle and call Mike, who shows up right as David is about to propose. Mike proposes instead, to which Phoebe says no but is content knowing that their relationship is headed somewhere and the two get back together while a disappointed but understanding David leaves.

Later that evening, when Ross' speech is deleted (after Chandler opened an email and Ross' laptop got a virus), Charlie cancels dinner with Joey to help recreate it; but suddenly, they enjoy themselves. Rachel keeps changing her mind on when to tell Joey that she has feelings for him. When she is about to tell him and Charlie and Ross are about to go out for champagne to celebrate the finished recreation of the speech, Joey and Charlie end up going to dinner together, much to Ross and Rachel's humiliation.

  • Along with " The One In Barbados, Part 2 ", Matt LeBlanc received his second Emmy nomination of the series for this episode.

  • When Joey and Rachel get name tags to get into a convention, Rachel wears the name tag Kate Miller. Seven years earlier, there was an actress named Kate Miller , Joey's colleague and love interest.
  • Chandler commented to David that you should "ask Joey if you want to know about if you get a burning sensation when you pee". Joey is shown to sleep with a lot of people, which could suggest he has contracted an STI (or multiple) in the past and therefore knows the symptoms; a burning sensation during urination is often the sign of an STI.
  • This is the last appearance of Hank Azaria as David. David was in 5 episodes of Friends.
  • After Chandler accidentally deletes Ross' speech and Ross tell him to "get out," David Schwimmer starts to crack up.
  • It is present on the french Netflix.
  • Joey is disappointed about the rain and not being able to dig a hole on the beach. In " The One With The Jellyfish " he digs a large hole on the beach and he is very excited to show it off to Chandler and Monica.

  • In the DVD version, the Netflix version and the Channel 5 run, when Joey and Rachel put name tags on themselves to sneak into an area, Rachel says, "Well, that's the most sex I'm gonna have this weekend". Joey then asks her, "In that case, shall I make sure its on real good", and touches her breast several times while rubbing the tag. She then replies with, "Thank you". (But she doesn't look happy about it.)
  • Jennifer Aniston had an injured arm during the filming of this episode and was wearing an ace bandage during filming. She was wearing a bandage on her left wrist in " The One With The Soap Opera Party ".
  • During Nick@Nite version, the whole scene opening teaser is cut off, and starts with the opening credits. Also "The One in Barbados" is airing in one hour version, and there may be several dialogues were edited out, due to more commercials.
  • When Ross and Charlie are hiding behind a small tree from the people who want to throw them in the pool and talking about Joey, it is raining very heavily but in a different shot it is not raining.
  • When Ross enters the hotel room where Joey and Charlie are, the door starts to close on Ross. Instant cut to wider shot and the door's starting to close again.
