What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices, like cellphones. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

Download the geocaching app to find the caches in this series as well as others all over the world! Log your caches and see photos of other explorers’ adventures in League City, Texas.  

During your treasure hunt, spend some time learning more about each location, keep your eye out for local wildlife, and explore a variety of coastal and wetlands habitats.  When it's time for a break, visit some of League City's fantastic boutiques , check out the food scene , or stroll along one of our many nature trails .

How to Geocache:

A beginner's guide

Download the Geocaching app on your smartphone and create a free account.

When you open the app, it will show a map of your area.

Click the search icon at the top and select "GeoTour."

Search the League City GeoTour code: GT498.

This will provide you with the League City Hidden Gems Tour caches.

Click the cache you want to find, then click on “navigate”. It will guide you to close proximity of the cache.

You can start with #1 and follow along through #10, or do them in any order you like.

The cache descriptions will give you hints and clues on how to find them.

Once you get close you may need to hunt for the cache. They are all different shapes and sizes, and often not in plain view. If you are having trouble finding it, click on “hint” for some help.

After you find a cache...

Sign the log inside.

If there is a “gem” inside, take one! If you have a small trinket to leave for the next person, you can do that too.

Log your experience in the app, tell us what you thought, and snap a picture to share.

Geocaching Etiquette

We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow.

Sign the logbook and log your find online to get your "smiley." Geocache owners love reading about your experience.

Be proud of  Did Not Find (DNF)  logs. They alert others that the cache may be more difficult to find than anticipated or may even be missing. DNF logs also inform the cache owner they may need to check on their container.

If you take a trinket from the geocache, leave something of equal or greater value, making sure it's family friendly. Don't place food or scented items as these attract animals.

Be mindful of non-geocaching onlookers (muggles). Curious people have been known to take or damage geocaches.

Make sure you don't accidentally venture on to someone's private property. Caches won't require you to trespass.

Leave the geocache area better than how you found it. Try not to disrupt local wildlife and pack any trash you see.

If you find a problematic cache, please contact the owner directly or  email us .

League City Geocache Rules

Geocaching is available at designated parks with prior approval of the Parks Recreation Superintendent. General Geocaching rules and guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:

All City of League City Park rules and regulations apply.

No off-trail hiking. Cache sites will be placed no more than 10 feet from designated trails, in public day use areas, or in areas designated by the City for geocaching.

No digging. Caches will be at or around ground level.

No littering, ‘cache in - trash out’ will be enforced.

Food, alcohol, drugs, firearms, or any other dangerous or inappropriate items are prohibited.

All items that are left in the cache box must be brought into the park. No flowers, rocks, minerals, or any historical or archeological artifacts from any City Park are permitted into the cache box.

If at any time the cache site violates City of League City Park Rules and Regulations, or the Geocaching Policy, the cache box may be removed by Park Operations Staff and it may not be returned to the owner.

2024 Wells Fargo Championship live stream, watch online, TV schedule, channel, tee times, golf coverage, radio

One week and one big-time event separate players from the second major championship of the season.

An elevated purse, additional FedEx Cup points and one last trophy before the PGA Championship are all up for grabs this week at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. With 69 of the best players on the PGA Tour and many of those names who aim to factor in a week's time at Valhalla in the field, the Wells Fargo Championship is likely to produce a major championship-type leaderboard on a major championship-type test.

Quail Hollow once again hosts the Wells Fargo Championship as it has done so in the past, including last year when Wyndham Clark broke through for his first career PGA Tour victory. Clark has since transformed into a completely different golfer winning the U.S. Open later that year and has since tacked on this year's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am while consistently contending in these signature events.

While Clark was the top man a year ago, Rory McIlroy has been on that perch over the last decade or so. Three times a winner at Quail Hollow and fresh off his 25th career PGA Tour victory and 35th birthday, the four-time major champion hopes to continue this upward trajectory ahead of his return to Valhalla -- the site of his last major championship triumph in 2014.

McIlroy's drought consists of major championships, but that of Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood and Cameron Young consists of PGA Tour wins. This lot has combined to get shutout over the last two years and will hope to breakthrough for a much-needed title in Charlotte.

Masters contenders Collin Morikawa and Max Homa plan to tee it up while Hideki Matsuyama and Viktor Hovland round out the action at Quail Hollow.

Wells Fargo Championship 2024: How to Watch and Stream All the PGA Tour Golf From Anywhere

The Tour heads to Charlotte's Quail Hollow Club with a share of a $20 million purse up for grabs.

With the seemingly unstoppable Scottie Scheffler out of the picture, it's an open field at the Quail Hollow Club this weekend for the Wells Fargo Championship. 

Scheffler has been in ominous form, having claimed wins at the The Masters and The Players Championship, but the World No. 1 has opted out of this weekend's action as he awaits the birth of his first child. 

Leading the charge in his absence will be new favorite Rory McIlroy, who is returning to action after sitting out last week's Byron Nelson. 

Also in the hunt will be defending Wells Fargo champ Wyndham Clark. Denver-born Clark registered a four-stroke victory over second placed Xander Schauffele at the 2023 edition of this tournament, and comes into this weekend's event having clocked up three top-three finishes from his last five tournaments.

What is the US TV schedule for the Wells Fargo Championship 2024?

Linear TV coverage of the Wells Fargo Championship in the US is on Golf Channel and CBS.

Quick tips for streaming the Wells Fargo Championship 2024 using a VPN

Doug Barron's major mantel is barren no more after win at Regions Tradition

Sunday at the Regions Tradition, everywhere that Doug Barron looked he was surrounded by firepower. For starters, playing in the final group on Sunday for the first time in a PGA TOUR Champions event – a major championship, no less – he was alongside Hall of Famers Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington. Legends. As they will tell you in Alabama, that’s tall cotton.

Steve Stricker, who won three senior majors a year ago and was runner-up in a fourth on his way to 2023 Player of the Year honors, and a three-time champion at Regions, was in the group up ahead of Barron, very capable of going low. Steven Alker, leader in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup, was, in fact, going low, shooting the best round of the week (9-under 63).

And even Bernhard Langer, the all-time leader in victories (46) among the over-50 set, was making some noise for the first time since tearing his Achilles tendon. He would tie for eighth.

If you think any of this phased Doug Barron, it did not. Never a winner on the PGA TOUR (238 career starts) and last a winner among the seniors in 2021 (Rogers Charity Classic in Canada), the 54-year-old Barron never once blinked, never broke stride, smiling and chatting away as he played, showing he was more than comfortable among the company that he was keeping.

His final-round 4-under 68 was relatively stress-free, with few mistakes in it, and as a result, this morning, at last, he can call himself a major champion. His winning total was 17-under 271, two shots clear of Alker.

Barron played bogey-free golf over his final 33 holes at Greystone Golf and Country Club’s Founders Course, and even his final-round score did not do full justice to capture just how solidly he played among giants. His putting was steady, and he holed out well from 3 and 4 feet, not making a single bogey one day after his stellar third-round 66 was three shots clear of the day’s next-lowest score. Nobody handed this one to Barron.

“Got my putter going,” Barron said. “I felt like I can make an 8-footer again, and it was huge. Today was just a dream come true. To beat all these great players ... they’re world-class players, but they are even better people.”

Alker, 52, has been a winner in eight of his first 60 starts on PGA TOUR Champions, and Sunday in Hoover, the New Zealander was the one who would step forward and at least post a number that got Barron’s attention. Alker eagled the par-5 second hole and would add eight birdies to his card, offset by a lone bogey at the par-5 15th. Alker’s 63 tied the best round since the tourney moved to Greystone, and jumped him all the way into second for the week.

Stricker, 57, was attempting to become the ninth player in history to win the same PGA TOUR Champions major for a third consecutive time. He has an incredible record at Regions, where he won in 2019, 2022 and 2023 – each time winning by six shots. But Stricker never got much going with the putter on the weekend to make a quality run. He did not make a single birdie on Saturday, though on Sunday he bounced back with a few, shooting 69.

Els, a winner of four majors (two U.S. Opens, two Open Championships) in his PGA Tour days, appeared poised to collect his first senior major on Sunday. He started the day sharing the lead with Barron, had been swinging the club beautifully, and through hard work, has his putting in good order. But after a nice start (birdie at the second), he followed with poor bogeys at No. 3 and No. 4, the latter a short par-3 that was a good scoring opportunity.

Els did make birdies at the eighth and ninth to get back to within two, and with three par-5 awaiting the long hitter on the back nine, he had a chance. But he could not get much else going. A bogey at 10 halted his momentum, and he shot 71 and tied for third with Stricker and Stewart Cink. The finish was Els’ ninth top-five without a victory in a senior major.

Cink is a newcomer to the big senior stops, and has yet to win on PGA TOUR Champions, but Sunday he broke out to a sizzling start, shooting 5-under 31 on his opening nine. He finished with a final-round 66, but it included only one birdie in his last 10 holes as he could not close the gap on Barron.

For Barron, Sunday was an emotional day, for several reasons. He had friends and family there, including his sister, it was Mother’s Day, and he said he hung in there over his last 18 holes without his best stuff. When he needed to, though, he hit the shots. “I hit a lot of good shots coming down the stretch, I thought,” Barron said. “I thought my putter ... if I just hit it to 30 or 40 feet, I could win it. I did look at the scoreboard at 16. I was excited about my play, and I’m just excited to keep it going.

“When I came out here (on PGA TOUR Champions), I dreamed of winning majors. I was never a factor in a major on the PGA TOUR, so it really is a dream come true.”

Barron moved from 20th to fifth in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, with Alker maintaining his lead in the season-long points race.

The Regions Tradition, played for the eighth consecutive year at Greystone, marked the first major championship of the season on PGA TOUR Champions, with four more to come. After a week off, major season resumes with the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Stricker is the defending PGA Senior champion, having outlasted Harrington in a playoff a year ago at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Texas.

After an hour-long weather delay Friday, the second round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is in the books.

Xander Schauffele maintains his lead, however, a bogey on his final hole brought the chasers, including Jason Day and Rory McIlroy, one shot closer. They'll be four behind when the weekend starts.

The purse at the Wells Fargo Championship is $20 million with $3.6 million going to the winner. The winner will also receive 700 FedEx Cup points.

Golf Channel commentator Brandel Chamblee , a staunch critic of both LIV Golf and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), has changed his opinion on professional golf’s current state of affairs.

He now believes the PGA Tour should complete a deal with the PIF, a reversal from his previous stances.

“The time is now, to [Rory McIlroy’s] point about making a deal, I wouldn’t have said that a year ago, I don’t think there are a lot of people within the world of golf that would be particularly enamored with the idea of making this deal,” Chamblee said on Golf Central late Thursday.

“But it is the better end of the bargain at this point.”

Chamblee has criticized the benefactors of LIV Golf because of its connection to the Saudi government, which has a horrible human rights record, subjugates women and LGBTQ individuals, and had links to the 9/11 attacks .

Chamblee has also said previously that a deal between the PGA Tour and the PIF would likely get blocked by the Department of Justice (DOJ) thanks to anti-trust violations.

The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), a subcommittee within the Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs, has also held three hearings to date in an effort to better understand the PIF’s business dealings in the United States, including LIV Golf. The government has been all over this.

But like McIlroy has over the past few months, Chamblee has relegated to the fact that the PIF, which reportedly has over $700 billion in assets, is going nowhere.

“Look, the PGA Tour is in this pickle, like it or not,” Chamblee added.

“Do you want to compete indefinitely with someone who is not going to go away, who can outspend you, and if they are in business, every move they make that makes their tour better deletes your tour and causes more division within the tour.”

Professional golf remains in disarray, with dozens of major champions competing on separate tours. To end this schism, the two sides must come together and strike a deal. But as we have seen at the Wells Fargo Championship this week, different opinions on the future of golf have permeated across the PGA Tour. Until tour brass has a better understanding of how the future should play out—and have a consensus among them—a deal remains far away.

Yet, at least many within the golf industry, which now includes Chamblee, recognize that a deal is necessary.
