GLASGOW AND EDINBURGH PRIVATE WALKING TOURS
So you’re looking for things to do in Glasgow or Edinburgh? Well, look no further because Turadh Tours has it covered. We provide a series of guided walking tours, showing you Scotland's Central Belt in a whole new light.
The fact you’re looking at private guided walking tours of Glasgow or Edinburgh says a lot about you. It says you’re looking to get off the beaten track in Scotland, experience something unique and really get to know the secret side of this brilliant wee country. It says you want the real stories of Glasgow and Edinburgh, the grit and glamour of our cities and to see first hand why Scotland's citizens are so proud to be from here.
Come with us to see Glasgow’s hidden history. Our tours are family friendly, fun and informative. Our guides are Glaswegian by birth, but also by choice and have the wit and humour you need to live up in a city where it rains 300 days a year. Allow them to show you their home, tell you their story and see Glasgow in a whole new light.
When it comes to Edinburgh, we leave no stone unturned. You'll hear Scotland's glittering royal history- stories of kings, courts, bishops and battles. We've worked hard and done mountains of research to ensure the stories we tell you are free from the propaganda they've been wrapped in for the last few hundred years. We'll also tell the stories we're passionate about- the ordinary people like you and I, who lived, worked and fought to survive in Scotland's dark capital city.
WELCOME TO GLASGOW
The tourist slogan of our city used to be GlasgowSMILES better.
Glasgow does think it's a bit better than other places. For good reason. And because we're that kind of folk.
Growing up in Glasgow, I was always struck by Edinburgh’s PR. A beautiful historic city full of royalty and regality, bursting with tourism and teeming with things to see. Buildings, battles and boozers older than I’m able to imagine. It’s easy to see why people would visit Edinburgh, its cobbled streets are picturesque and pretty.
Glasgow has all of that, but I’ve always felt it has something extra. Glasgow has a grit and life force that’s hard to explain and can only be experienced. The people of Glasgow have a special pride in this city, scarred and marred though it is. In fact, Glaswegians love Glasgow because it IS scarred and marred. We are proud of what we’ve been through, what we’ve done and how we’ve pulled through. This city has come through war, unrelenting poverty, destruction and deprivation to become a modern city, bustling with life and vibrancy. We are an international hub for art, music, comedy and a global leader in boozing and banter.
Our current slogan is People Make Glasgow. Because we do. We have history and beauty, old buildings and big stories. But it’s the people that make this city what it is. Come visit us, meet us and hear our story.
WELCOME TO EDINBURGH
There really is nowhere else on earth quite like Edinburgh. The city has changed the world time and time again. Winston Churchill wisely said that with the exception of the Ancient Greeks, no other small nation has given so much to society.
There is a lot to see in Edinburgh. Scotland's capital has a million stories and the number of stops on your tour is limitless. We're experienced in touring Edinburgh, so we can create the perfect itinerary for your trip, ensuring you don't miss out on seeing anything. From the sweeping vistas of Edinburgh Castle, to the winding closes drawing you into a darker side of the city's past, Edinburgh has something that will appeal to everyone. We've conducted in-depth research to bring you a version of Edinburgh that is honest, impartial and based on historical accuracy. We've stripped away the propaganda of the last hundred years to figure out what actually happened, who was important and how they felt.
We pride ourselves on our stories and to us, telling the stories of the ordinary people who have woven themselves into the historical tapestry of Scotland are just as important as the Kings and Queens who rocked the world. Come see Edinburgh with us, go beyond the bagpipes and discover a whole new layer to Scotland's capital city.

Best things to see and do in Glasgow
Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland , being the economic, social and political axis of the region. Framed within the United Kingdom, it is a destination that has a small Old Town (historical center) compared to other cities of the same nature. The Georgian-style houses placed one behind the other stand out more than any other architectural styles, retaining very few vestiges of their medieval pasts. It may seem that almost every historical trace has been eliminated, but the modernization of the city has been taken place on most of the streets, giving rise to picturesque images decorated by the Clyde River. Despite not having historic buildings that preserve the styles of past centuries, the beauty of this city lies in other strong points, such as the bustling streets, the nightlife as well as in its parks and museums.
To discover this town in a new and original way, we recommend you try it with some of the best local guides in Glasgow on a free walking tour in the morning or in the afternoon. You will discover the true history of some of the most important monuments and buildings in the city and soak up Scottish culture. On your tour, don’t forget to visit the illustrious Kelvingrove Museum (the most visited in the United Kingdom, outside London), the University of Glasgow where Albert Einstein or Adam Smith studied, the Botanical Garden, Ashton Lane and Hidden Lane, the San Mungo cathedral in Glasgow, the Necropolis (cemetery), the Riverside Museum, Provand's Lordship, the Glasgow Science Center, George Square or People's Palace. With just this list alone, you will have enough to keep you busy until your trip ends, so get started with a guided guruwalk.
If you have any questions about the tour route or the guide, check out the opinions and reviews left by other walkers about the free tours they have done in Glasgow . This way you can be assured that you will find the best tour for you. This way, you are also able to see the honest opinions of other tourists like you and how they felt so you can choose the most interesting experience for your personal tastes. It is quite common for people looking at doing a guided tour here to also check out Oxford or Brighton.

For myself not so much into architecture, but the additional stories really had us carried away. And I can't believe he had an Iron Bru for all of us to try- we found our new fav drink!! The sun peeked through near the end of the tour, giving us the opportunity to take some nice photos. Definetely would recommend! Greetings, Ulises & Vicky Read more Written April 4, 2020

- Aixerr0ta 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles What a treat! I went a few weeks ago on this walking tour of Glasgow and all I can say is that it was absolutely brilliant! Johnny, the guide, is so warm and welcoming - he made a point of learning everyone's names and talking a bit with everyone of us during the tour - which makes the experience so enjoyable. He's also very knowledgeable and apart from all the information about the city he gave us a lot of recommendations for places to have food, drinks, etc. It was also interesting to see a couple of pubs and street art, which doesn't seem to be that common in other city tours. This is definitely something I'd recommend doing if you ever come to lovely Glasgow as it will give you a good general idea of the city and its history. We also got to try some Irn Bru, which is a must for any Scotland newbies ;) Read more Written March 13, 2020

He is a typical Glaswegian and an excellent tour guide. Very courtieous and polite. He goes to great lengths to ensure everyone is able to hear him above the traffic and city noise, something many tour guides are very poor at. He is very knowledgeable and quite entertaining. I would highly recommend. Read more Written March 8, 2020

I can honestly say that we couldn’t be more lucky: the walking tour around Glasgow with Johnny was one of the best guided tours me and my wife ever attended! In just 3 hours we managed to see so many interesting places: from the major sights to some very authentic and atmospheric hidden places in the heart of the city - really breathtaking!😱🤗 And I would also like to thank John - this man is a professional who truly loves Glasgow and shares these positive feeling with everyone 🙏🏻 We had some interesting conversations and got a lot of good recommendations and hints how to spend the rest of the day!
