The worst trip experience of my life

The worst trip experience of my life. Everything that they tell you is completely a lie. The other students and activities are a LIE. The workers are arrogant and act like they are too important or too busy to help you. Anything they promise as a reason to book a trip through them is not worth it. Or they did not do what was on the itinerary. You should plan a trip on your own because you will end up paying much more than the package price originally listed through Student City. This company is the WORST company to entrust your children with. The first thing their representatives do is LIE to you and your children. They sell the kids on trips that are suppose to be the BEST trip they will ever have. They give information that kids would want to hear, but not what they NEED to hear. They don't tell the kids that the prices can change, they don't tell the kids that the trip is non refundable until after they have made their last payment. The transportation to excursions are YOU paying for an UBER and them paying you back in cash. Not good business, Very shady. The excursions on you trip are lies. I would NOT have paid any money for my son to go on a trip with GradCity. They will not refund my money or a portion of it, I will NEVER endorse this company because the way they operate is sleazy and manipulative. They are the worst company to allow your children to do business with.

kid friendly!

We went to cancun last springbreak with grad city. The company was awesome. They were organized and had plenty of activities planned for our young adults. They did a great job keeping track of people and giving them their space too. I would recommend grad city for your springbreak tour company.

This was an amazing trip

This was an amazing trip. I went with my daughter and her friends for their senior trip. I planned it through gradcity because I wanted that extra level of safety. I could not be happier with that decision. Outings felt safe and I was very impressed. I am a teacher so I am used to being very vigilant but I felt safe. The bars we went to were closed to the public so it was only chaperones and two grad groups. There was plenty of staff and they were very professional. Grad city staff went above and beyond to help when the airline lost our luggage. They were also very easy to get ahold of. I was very impressed and I highly recommend this group.

I went on my first Grad City trip last week to the Bahamas trip and it was great to see how organized everything was for the students. Everyone I spoke to was having an amazing senior trip. Keep up the good work!!

Date of experience : June 21, 2022

Hi Eric, thank you for the review. We are glad to hear everyone was having an amazing time during their Senior trip!

Wonderful Trip...Great Memories!

Wonderful Trip...Great Memories! We recently returned from our Eisenhower Spring Break Trip to Punta Cana at the Hard Rock, that was organized by Grad City. We ALL LOVED our trip! Debbie Birecki was AWESOME with us through out the whole process of the trip. Her communication, organization and quick follow-up to all of our questions and needs were much appreciated. The staff on site were AMAZING as well. Special call out to, Stacey and Kevin, who did a lot of extras to make our daughter feel special. Highlights of our trip: Our direct charter flight though grad city was easy, low stress and very convenient. We heard many others had huge issues with their transportation. The food at the Steakhouses were both VERY good, especially for an all-inclusive. The Mediterranean restaurant and Mexican restaraunt were great as well. We thought our room was extremely spacious and comfortable. The Bali Bed rental is a must do. That day was one of our favorites on the beach. The beaches are gorgeous and a lot of fun if you like playing in the waves. We really liked that there were MANY options for pools. There were crazy, fun pools and low key, quite ones. The fitness center was hands down, one of the BEST we have ever been to before. VERY spacious; LOTS of machines and the staff was very attentive. We also really enjoyed the spa. Relaxing, spacious and calming. Thank you again Grad City for a wonderful experience for our family with MANY great memories.

Horrible company

Horrible company. Gather your school friends and book your own trip. The pricing is a huge rip off, you have a very very limited refund policy, they more you put in the more you lose. We booked rooms and flights to Mexico and a few months later the group leads suggested they add a Florida location due to Covid. So people switched to Florida and I’m left with a mexico trip with just a few kids going. Not what we signed up for. If I switch to Florida I’ll be stuck with 1400. In flight vouchers because I booked my flights myself to try and save money. This additional location has also split the group of people going between 2 locations so now the kids are divided up. Not what we signed up for! They can change your trip, add additional locations after you’ve booked flights based on the group leader suggesting changes. If you receive a check for any portion of your refund the check has a notification on the back that once you sign it you can’t chargeback for any amounts you dispute. The sales person told me on the phone that the first day I’d see kids throwing up, partying too hard on the first day until they realize they can’t handle the sun and alcohol. I should have run but gradcity creates peer pressure that everyone is booking through them and you don’t want your kid left out. Don’t give in... book your own trips and save money. Update: your reply says you can’t speak for “their policy” but then you go on to answer for them?! Zero sense like everything else. Our group or anyone enrolled was never asked if we wanted a second location, 1 person the organizer asked for it and didn’t ask the group. And your sign up was low and you added a second location to help your sales. This second location has approximately 11 people going to Florida and the rest going to the original spot. The group is now split into 2 locations which ruins the purpose of the trip, getting the kids ALL together. Yes, It is written in your contract locations can be changed and obviously it’s to help your sales vs asking those already enrolled what they would like to do as for adding another location. No one asked the group their preferences. I asked for that communication and it couldn’t be provided, the person who is your school parent contact can speak for the entire group and screw everyone else. I love the partial refund check I received actually has a stamped message on the signing line saying if I sign and cash the check I can’t file a chargeback. You obviously experience this a lot- wonder why

Date of experience : December 11, 2020

Dear Nichole, Yours and your husband's package/trip was booked through a different tour company/travel provider thus we cannot speak to their policies. GradCity offered a second option at the request and feedback from the group. This was not a decision made or put forward by GradCity, but a response to a request. GradCity spent several months researching and reviewing multiple domestic destinations and resorts. Several factors go into building a new program/offering a new destination such as allowing student groups during Spring Break, rates, activities on the property and in the area, closest airport, inclusions, etc.. After much research and review, GradCity was able to offer a domestic destination to the group. Members who still want to travel to Cabo, or new members who want to join, can. Members who want to switch to Florida, or register for the domestic destination, can as well. Sincerely, GradCity

Hey Daniel - so glad you enjoyed the place, food, people and clubs :)

The True Grad City

We stayed at Breezes in the Bahamas for 5 days and were appalled by what we observed with Grad City. The company promotes safety and protection of the students in their care but this was not evidenced during our stay. Allowing 17-18 year old kids an all-inclusive option with unlimited alcohol is disgraceful. “Staff” were nowhere to be seen while students did whatever they wanted. We witnessed kids so drunk they couldn’t walk on their own, vomit on the beach or other common areas of the resort, and have a general disrespect for the resort staff and other guests. The students were observed throwing fries at an older gentleman while he napped in a sun lounger in an effort to get the seagulls to peck the fries off him; having an altercation with other guests after being asked politely to respect their space; turning volume up on their speakers after being asked politely to turn it down; smoking in non-smoking areas; leaving trash all over the beach to blow away or for all the seagulls to swarm in that spot; yelling down to others from their balconies; partying in the pool until 3am; running up and down the halls and telling in the middle of the night, the list goes on. Students damaged property (literally ripping a door off its hinges and fleeing the scene and passing out in the shower causing 2 floors to flood which resulted in the water being turned off), refused to follow hotel policies (including mask requirements), student allegations of spiked drinks, and student allegations of sexual assault. We witnessed first had as students attempted to buy drugs from locals on the beach; students so drunk they passed out on the beach, one of them waking, unable to stand or walk well on her own and then running into the ocean and falling under water unable to get up on her own, which resulted in other beach goers and security intervening to prevent her from drowning. One elevator ride included a student so drunk he couldn’t walk and was being carried by 2 other students who claimed not to know him. A “staff” member was with, simply stating “he just needs to drink water and sleep” - yes he does, but he never should have been allowed to get to that point. “Staff” were observed hanging out on the beach or at the pool enjoying their own alcoholic drinks rather than actually supervising the students. I understand the legal drinking age is different in other countries but what I can’t understand is how people can be part of something that supports the unlimited and mostly unsupervised drinking involving high school students. It’s absolutely disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves. If parents knew what they were actually paying for this child to participate in, I’m sure many would be appalled.

Date of experience : June 17, 2022

Dear Melanie, We apologize if your vacation was negatively impacted by any younger traveler. There are several high school tour companies that book/stay at the Breezes. The Breezes provides a Student Travel Advisory posted on their website stating they accept student groups March through June, and advising guests if they prefer to visit Breezes when fewer students and/or younger guests are at the resort, be sure to select travel dates outside of normal nationwide Spring Break and Graduation travel periods. We take the safety and supervision of our travelers very seriously. GradCity maintains the highest student to staff ratio in the business at 25:1. Our staff are screened, qualified, trained, and available 24/7 onsite. We have implemented several safety precautions to ensure the students' safety: pre-departure travel documents, emergency number, 24/7 on-site assistance, orientations and more. Our onsite team consists of full time employees and 90-95% returning staff members who have rotating shifts to provide supervision and assistance throughout our program. We meet the students at the airport in Nassau, do an orientation upon arrival at the hotel, are out at the pool/beach daily, at the night events, in our resource room, and at any GradCity sponsored event/activity. If you have further questions please contact our office.
