The Bhilai Steel Plant has a zoo and a children’s park. The Zoo’s features include exotic animal and bird species, a lake, toy railways, and other attractions. The musical fountain, located on an island in Maitri Garden’s artificial lake, is a dynamic display that responds to music in a way that expresses the style and rhythm of the musical performance. Jets of water erupt into the air as the music plays, twisting, swaying, pirouetteing, pulsing, drumming, and skipping to the beat – each action illuminated by dazzling colours. On alternating days, two events are presented here in the evenings. The zoo’s biggest draw is its white tigers. Every year, a flower display is held here.
Shri UwassaggaharamParshwa Tirth, Nagpura
This temple of the 23rd Teerthankar Lord Shri Parshwanath, located on the bank of the river Sheonath, recalls his holy journey to this region some 3000 years ago as a Shraman (A wandering mendicant dedicated to self-realization through self sacrifice). Scattered Jain Sculpture, a significant number of followers, and a damaged old shrine, combined with Lord’s Foot – prints, demonstrate the Lord’s visit to this location. His divine grace is further demonstrated by the remarkable method in which he located, found, procured, and finally installed this old idol. This shrine is essentially a stone-engraved epic of Jain-devotional philosophy. A journey to this shrine fosters good behaviour, self-control, penance, and tranquilly.
This is a Jain temple in Nagpura that was built in 1995. Temples, guest cottages, a garden, and a Naturopathy and Yoga Centre are all located on the site. The entry to the magnificent marble temple of Shri Parshwanath is through a 30 foot gate with the statue of Parshwanath adored by two elephants and supported by four pillars (indicating the four requirements of spiritual atonement, i.e., wisdom, reflection, good behaviour, penance). Sacred water seeps from the idol here, amiya. On full moon, hundreds of pilgrims visit this shrine.
