Under a week : To see the most famous Highland attractions in a short time, give yourself at least 4 - 5 days to travel around the Inverness , Fort William and Loch Lomond areas. Want to visit some islands? Then plan to spend at least 6 days to drive through the Highlands to the Isle of Skye or the Oban and Isle of Mull area. On this express route of Scotland, you can visit sights such as Loch Ness , the picturesque valley of Glen Coe, Eilean Donan Castle and more.

1 - 2 weeks : For a classic Scotland experience, we recommend holidays lasting around 10 days. This allows you to extend your Highland journey to other scenic places, like the old universtity city of St Andrews and the “Castle Trail” region of Aberdeenshire. In 12 days or more you can also drive along the scenic North Coast 500 route and visit more secluded islands such as the Orkney Islands or the Outer Hebrides . A scottish christmas to remember, december 2022.

We booked a 4-day Christmas Tour of Edinburgh which included hotel accommodation, a walking tour of the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle, a day tour of the Highlands and Lowlands, castles, and lochs, and also a whisky distillery tour. The hotel was in an amazing location near the Christmas Markets and popular attractions. The day tours were such a wonderful way to experience the countryside outside of Edinburgh. We also added a driving service to drive us to and from the airport and the drivers were so lovely. The care package left at the hotel consisting of maps and suggested eateries was such a delightful bonus. We loved that every aspect of our trip was planned and ready for us once we arrived which diminished any travel stress that one may experience when travelling abroad.

The two largest international airports in Scotland are in Glasgow , Scotland’s largest city, and in Edinburgh , the usual starting point for Nordic Visitor tours. Trips to Scotland from Singapore typically involve one connecting flight, usually at major cities such as London, Frankfurt or Dubai.

Some of the largest airlines with 1-stop flights from Singapore to Scotland include (but are not limited to) Singapore, Airlines, British Airways and Emirates. For one-stop flights to Scotland, the flight time from Singapore to Edinburgh takes around 17-18 hours, depending on the duration of the layover. We recommend checking with the airlines for flight availability and timetables. Had an amazing week doing the Highland Fling tour with Haggis Adventures/Highland Explorers. Our driver and guide Tom was fantastic navigating us safely around the country. We also had the pleasure of new guides Sophie and Cliff. All 3 guides were extremely knowledgeable, funny, great story tellers and very helpful with all questions, local advice and insights. We really enjoyed seeing and hearing the folklore about the beautiful landscapes of Scotland and being immersed in the culture on this intimate tour. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great tour!

This was the best tour I have ever been on. We had Neil as our tour guide, he told funny stories and Scottish history and I loved every minute of it! Went to beautiful amazing places that I’ll definitely be coming back for again! Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to get a taste of Scotland!

Tiny Singapore occupies little more than a dot on the world map, although it's still not small enough to rate as one of the world's smallest. Located in South-East Asia on the southern end of the Malaysian Peninsula, most of Singapore is highly urbanized, with most residents living in flats and skyscrapers in built up areas. 2. Fish-head curry

This aromatic, spicy dish with a South Indian and Chinese heritage features a whole red snapper stewed in coconut milk, tamarind juice, spices and chili. The strong flavour and presence of a whole fish head may turn some people off, but for those with a strong stomach and desire for heat in their food, you can't go past this curry.

3. Chicken rice

This Hainanese-style Singaporean stalwart is unofficially considered Singapore's national dish. Featuring poached or fried chicken and steamed rice with sides of chicken stock, soy, and chili, this is the ideal dish for those wanting simple flavours and ingredients done well.

4. Ice cream sandwich

Head to the mobile ice cream carts located along Orchard Road to find this indulgent sweet treat. Traditional flavours (like chocolate and strawberry) get a run alongside more exotic flavours (durian or sweet corn ice cream anyone?). This slice of creamy sugar wrapped in sweet bread is the perfect antidote to the steamy Singaporean climate.

5. Fried carrot cake

No, this dish isn't made by putting a sweet carrot cake in a deep fryer. Rather, it's a popular savoury meal in Singapore also known as Chai Tow Kuay. And it just gets stranger when you consider that there are no carrots in this dish, but rather white radish, garlic, chili and coriander. Oddities aside, this street-food favourite is a cheap and easy meat-free meal, a top choice for vegetarian travellers.
