Howden opens new Cardiff office

Howden has announced the opening of a new office in Cardiff, to support businesses with tailored insurance solutions.

Located at Regus House, Malthouse Avenue, in Cardiff Gate Business Park, the new office will build on the success of the recently inaugurated office in Swansea last month and Howden’s acquisition of Watkin Davies in 2020. The addition of a new Cardiff office underscores Howden's dedication to becoming a prominent force in the commercial broking sector in South and West Wales.

The expansion will be spearheaded by Gary Stevens, Regional Managing Director, who has outlined ambitious plans to position Howden as the foremost competitor in the region.

Gary expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion, stating: "I am very pleased to lead the opening of yet another office in Wales. An office in Cardiff was the natural choice for our expansion, and we are confident that by increasing our presence in South Wales by growing our team of advisors to 20+ enabling us to continuing to provide exceptional services to our clients."

Under Gary's leadership, the new Cardiff office is set to accommodate a team of six highly skilled brokers, who will work to uphold Howden's commitment to excellence in risk advisory services, with more brokers set to join in the coming months. DUAL launches new capability in title insurance in Australia and New Zealand

30 April 2024 - DUAL Australia announced the launch of a new business line offered by DUAL’s specialist title insurance team, DUAL Asset. The primary focus will be (i) real estate transactions involving commercial real estate located in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore and (ii) M&A transactions involving target companies and trusts across markets including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and South Korea. The team will be led by Chris Hammond, Head of Asia Pacific for DUAL Asset.

The product range includes:

• Title to real estate (including the ability to cover identified issues or defects)
• Title to securities, such as shares, units and comparable ownership interests (including the ability to cover identified issues or defects)
• Fundamental warranty top-up insurance (also known as “excess W&I”).  
• Title insurance products are designed to help sellers, buyers and financiers manage and allocate certain legal and financial risks associated with (or identified during) a transaction process

AXA XL, DUAL Asset’s long standing title insurance capacity partner, is providing capacity for the full product range via its Syndicate 2003 at Lloyd’s. Insurable limits of up to USD 150 m per policy are available.

TRAVEL ADVISORY; New Clinic Serves Visitors to Moscow

A new private clinic has opened in Moscow to serve travelers as well as residents. The service is provided by U.S. Global Health, a members-only joint venture of Columbia-Presbyterian Health Services; the Fund for Large Enterprises in Russia, a private investment company, and Pepsico World Trading, which helps develop businesses for its parent company, Pepsico.

Four American-trained, board-certified doctors and their assistants prescribe medications and provide diagnostic outpatient services and lab work. Doctors are on 24-hour call and in emergencies will make house calls, according to Sherrie Dulworth, Global's director of sales and marketing. The clinic will also arrange for emergency hospitalization at the Kuntsevo Central Clinical Hospital.

A 10-day "tourist" membership is $39, with separate charges for medical services, which are comparable to those charged in the United States. Global honors most major American insurance policies. A one-year family membership is $950, $475 for an individual and $90 for business travelers. A trial 30-day membership costs $90 for individuals and $150 for families.
