invergordon cruise ship schedule 2023

Great guide to Invergordon port. I work there with cruise ships as a guide and ground handler. 2023 looks set to be our busiest year yet. It looks like there will be some changes to the piers used next year with perhaps more use of Saltburn pier. Unfortunately for most of this year the pipe band has been unable to come into the port due to each piper needing to attend a health and safety briefing – let’s hope they get back in for 2023 as it is a great send off. Also cruising out of the Cromarty Firth between the sandstone peaks – the Sutors – back into the North Sea is a good spot to see some Bottlenose dolphins.

Hi, Melanie! Wow, thanks for this super useful info and the updates! I wish you a great 2023 season! 🙂

Ideally situated in the centre of the eastern Highlands, the town's High Street has recently been given a face lift with coloured granite blocks, speed controllers, a new restaurant and a mural has been painted on the Albyn Housing building.

There are many places to eat, providing quick take-away food right through to a quality country house hotel and restaurant just inland from the town, Indian and Chinese food is also available as an alternative to the more traditional fayre.

There is an Arts Centre, a Leisure and Sports Club, with swimming pool and an 18 hole golf course on the outskirts of town.

No visit to the Scottish Highlands would be complete without taking in some spectacular scenery and a distillery . Overlooking the shores of the Dornoch Firth, Glenmorangie has been producing malt whisky for more than 150 years. You'll see the various stages of production and have the opportunity to enjoy a dram before continuing your journey to reach Falls of Shin,   renowned not for their height, but fortheir great power, salmon can often be seen attempting to pass up the falls in the summer and early autumn.  Stop by the immersing space of the Mac & Wild Café  offering wild cooking setup from which you can come and experience the magic of the Scottish Highlands first hand.

LOCH NESS AND HISTORIC CASTLE URQUHART

Pass through the vibrant Highland capital of Inverness on your way to Loch Ness , one of Scotland's largest lochs and (allegedly) home to the Loch Ness Monster. Loch Ness lies on the Great Glen and forms part of the Caledonian Canal which links Fort William in the west with Inverness in the east. Visit the dramatic ruins of Castle Urquhart : a critical stronghold in its day, situated on a promontory overlooking Loch Ness. The excellent visitor's centre sets the scene before you visit the Castle. Don't forget to keep your eyes open for signs of Nessie !

THE BLACK ISLE

Travel to the lovely, unspoilt Black Isle peninsula for a trip through scenic fishing villages, farming country and forests.

Cromarty is the Black Isle's largest settlement and arguably Scotland's best preserved 17th Century village . The historic Courthouse is home to a fascinating museum and you can also visit the birthplace of Hugh Miller, the geologist, journalist and one of the founders of the Free Church of Scotland.

Keep your eyes peeled for Dolphins, which frequent the waters of the Moray Firth .

Which cruise lines visit invergordon.

The main cruise lines visiting are Ambassador, Aida, Viking, Norwegian, TUI, Saga, Holland America, Fred Olsen, P&O, MSC, Princess and Costa Cruises. There are multiple calls from these cruise lines to Invergordon during the year.

Invergordon is a popular cruise destination because it is the closest accessible port to Inverness. It provides easy access to Inverness and to a wide variety of excursions throughout the Highlands.

The most popular shore excursion offered in Invergordon is a half day tour to Loch Ness – either to take a cruise or to visit Urquhart Castle. Another popular trip is to head to Inverness for free time and to explore at your own pace.

If you are coming to Invergordon and planning on taking a half day tour then do take a little time to walk into the town. It is small – the population is less than 4,000 people – but there are some nice murals to see, a free museum, some gift and art shops, as well as some easy walks along the shoreline.

Invergordon town centre is a 5 minute walk from ships that are berthed in the service base. For ships that are berthed at Saltburn pier there is a shuttle bus that takes guests into the town centre.
