FAQ About Travel Insurance to Iran
Travel insurance typically covers trip cancellation, trip interruption, lost or stolen luggage, travel delay, and emergency evacuation. Some travel insurance packages also cover medical-related incidents too. However, remember that the exact coverage depends on the insurance policy.
Yes, medical travel insurance is almost always worth it, and we recommend taking out travel insurance whenever visiting a foreign country. Taking out travel insurance will mitigate some or all of the risk of covering those costs yourself in case you need medical attention during your stay. In general, we recommend VisitorsCoverage to travellers worldwide because it offers excellent value for money and well-rounded travel and medical benefits in its large catalogue of plans.
Health insurance doesn't cover normal holiday expenses, such as coverage for missed flights and hotels, but in case you run into medical trouble while abroad, it may cover some or all of your doctor or hospital expenses while overseas. However, not all health insurance providers and plans offer coverage to customers while abroad, and that's why it's generally best to take out travel insurance whenever you travel.
Although there's overlap, health and travel insurance are not exactly the same. Health insurance covers some or all of the cost of medical expenses (e.g. emergency treatment, doctor's visits, etc.) while travel insurance covers non-medical costs that are commonly associated with travelling (e.g. coverage for missed flights, stolen or lost personal belongings, etc.).
The cost of travel insurance depends on several factors, such as the length of the trip, the destination, the age of the traveller, and the level of coverage desired. On average, travel insurance can cost anywhere between 3% and 10% of the total cost of the trip.
A single-trip travel insurance policy covers a specific trip, while an annual one covers multiple trips taken within a one-year period. An annual policy may be more cost-effective for frequent travellers.
Yes, you can sometimes purchase travel insurance after starting your trip, but it is best to buy it before the trip begins to ensure maximum coverage. If you do need to buy insurance after you've started your trip, we recommend VisitorsCoverage , which offers a wide catalogue of online trip and medical insurance policies, most of which can be booked with immediate effect. Check out our guide to buying travel insurance late to learn more.
Yes, you can most certainly purchase travel insurance for a trip that has already been booked, although we recommend purchasing insurance as soon as possible aftwerwards to ensure all coverage is in place before your journey begins. Check out our guide to buying travel insurance late to learn more.

Drink bottled or filtered water
- Bottle water is regularly available. Try not to drink tap water whenever possible. Most tap water across the country may contain high amounts of chalk or other impurities. Apply for Iran insurance ensure yourself in case of contamination
- Recycling options & at-home water filters. If you donāt want to keep using plastic, ask a local about where to recycle. Most locals have water filters at home, which is also safe to drink from.
Drivers can seem aggressive
- Everyone on the streets is on high alert. Whenever you are near roads or high foot traffic areas, always be on the lookout for motorists, bicyclists or pedestrians. While drivers can be a bit aggressive in more rural areas, city centers and high foot-traffic areas are much more lawful. Apply for Iran insurance and protect yourself from any accidents.
- Streets are surprisingly functionctional. Although traffic may look chaotic from the outside, it does function with surprising flow, so do not panic when youāre speeding away in a bus or taxi.

How to choose the right travel insurance for Iran
By Joan Torres 20 Comments Last updated on April 1, 2024
Because of the sanctions imposed by the USA, many travel insurance companies will not offer coverage for travel in Iran and that includes not only American companies but also some Australian and European, including some providers which I have used quite often, such as World Nomads (Australia).
Therefore, you will need to seek special travel insurance that covers Iran.
Moreover, you should know that having valid travel insurance to Iran is essential for anyone trying to get an Iranian visa on arrival at any international airport.
If you don’t have insurance, they will make you buy it before issuing your visa.
In this post, we will go through all the different options I know about, which, hopefully, will help you choose the right travel insurance for Iran .
In this post, I want to go through the 4 different options I know of regarding travel insurance for Iran. For this, let’s pretend that we are a European traveler who is going to Iran during the first 2 weeks of December.
These are, in my opinion, the best insurances for Iran:
The best insurance for any traveler – IATI Insurance
The best insurance for Europeans – True Traveller
The best insurance for budget travelers – 1stQuest
The best travel insurance to Iran for any traveler – IATI Insurance
IATI is a popular insurance provider which is based in Europe, but they offer coverage to pretty much anyone in the world, including Asians, Latin Americans and also Americans and Canadians.
I like IATI because, unlike other companies, whether you are a long-term backpacker or go on a 2-week holiday, they will have a special plan for you, no matter what your budget is.
Their most basic plans offer very competitive prices compared to other providers and, on top of that, the readers of this blog can get an exclusive 5% discount .
Let’s try to get a quote for a 2-week trip. As you can see in the picture, they have 9 different plans and the prices already include my 5% discount.
Minimum quote – 40ā¬ and that includes 50,000ā¬ of medical coverage plus theft, baggage loss, complete repatriation, etc.
With trekking supplement – The basic plan doesn’t really cover adventure, so you need to get a higher plan and the cheapest cost 68ā¬.
Advantages vs True Traveller
- The most basic plan is always cheaper than the cheapest from True Traveller, regardless of whether it includes trekking or not.
- Any nationality can buy from IATI, whereas for True Traveller you need to be European.
The best travel insurance to Iran for European backpackers – True Traveller
True Traveller is a company which I discovered recently and I like it a lot because it offers the ultimate deals for long-term European backpackers, cheaper than any other company.
Furthermore, what I love about it is that it is very flexible, meaning that you can get a very basic quote and then add supplements like trekking, theft, secure your electronics, etc, so you can adapt your quote to any kind of trip.
Moreover, their biggest strength is that their medical coverage is huge, compared to most insurance providers.
Let’s get a 2-week quote for Iran again.
Minimum price – 46GBP (53ā¬) and that includes 2,500,000ā¬ of medical coverage and repatriation but doesn’t include theft, baggage loss, etc.
With supplement for trekking – Minimum 92ā¬
Advantages vs IATI
- The medical coverage is way higher (even though you pay a bit more)

The best travel insurance to Iran for super budget travelers – 1stQuest
If you are on an extreme budget, you can also buy insurance from a local provider.
The guys from 1stQuest have launched one of the first websites where you can buy insurance specifically for Iran, with an international credit card.
Their prices are the lowest but, of course, the coverage is lower than European companies.
Price for 15 days – 20ā¬ but, as you can see, the coverage is quite low.
Another great advantage of 1stQuest is that the readers of this blog can get an exclusive 5% discount, so the price would be 20ā¬ – 5% = 19ā¬
Use my promotional code: ATC-QST
You can use it as many times as you want and not only for the insurance but to hire any service, including booking a hotel , flights, visa services, and tours.
The best travel insurance for Iran for super budget travelers who forgot to buy it – Airport insurance
I want to give you the best traveling advice, so you can understand that I am not doing this only for the commission.
As a traveler, you need to know that you can buy your travel insurance at the airport.
If you don’t have any or can’t prove it, the authorities will make you buy insurance before issuing your visa.
The insurance they make you buy is from a company called Bimeh. Prices are suspiciously cheap, though, with rates starting at 14ā¬ for travel insurance for 1 month.
However, they don’t tell you any details about the policy or what is covered and Bimeh’s website is very confusing, so I don’t really know whether you would be properly covered or not. I am not saying they are bad, but just that I don’t know, so, if I was an extreme budget traveler, I would, at least, buy 1stQuest, as it only costs 1ā¬ extra and you get all the policy details.
In any case, it is up to you to make this final decision.
By the way, here are the prices I collected at Tehran airport:
- 1 to 31 days – 14ā¬
- 32 to 45 days – 23ā¬
- 46 to 62 days – 28ā¬
- 63 to 92 days – 34ā¬
That’s all you need to know regarding travel insurance for Iran. If you have any questions, suggestions or you don’t agree with anything, kindly let me know in the comments section. Cheers!

Hello, I am going to buy the IATI insurance via your link. I will go hiking in the mountains with some guide and will possibly also rent a bike. Should I chose the cover for “Adventurous Sports”? I don’t think hiking and biking are adventurous and the person I chatted with could not really explain the different types of insurance (all of them include cover for hiking and biking). Since you used them, what would you recommend?
Hello! Thank you for your comment. It is about the altitude and depends on which plan you select. Iati Backpacker and Premium cover up to 3,000m. Iati Star with the āAdventure Sportsā supplement cover a maximum of 5,000m. I took this info from their website. Hope that helps š
I am a little disappointed by IATI, are they serious?
I am buying a backpacker insurance now and I read “BACKPACKERS INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE POLICY FOR SPANISH TRAVELLERS” https://www.iatiseguros.com/contratar/files/documentos/eng-mochilerosindividualespanoles.pdf
And I am not Spanish. I have just called their call centre to have clarification and 1. they answer only in Spanish, there is no language selection option 2. The disk said the office is open from 9 to 18 and then the call hung, It is 15:30 now…
Did you try to contact them over the chat? and did you already buy it? If so, I will ask them for you. What is your number policy?
Not yet, I want to be sure I will be covered before buying it.
You will be covered but, if you wanna make sure, ask them via live chat
The chat doesn’t come up today…
It is holiday there today, will check with them tomorrow. Thanks for the prompt response
Still an issue with their form 6 months after original post above. The form asks you to ‘read & accept’ the Conditions (which are specifically for Spanish travelers) and the Compliance Information (which is in Spanish) !! But, after some confusing chat with the on-line person, I was given a link to the pdf for the “foreigners” policy. (Which is in English!)
15-1-2020 Iati is NOT covering Iran right now due to political difficulties with other countries.
Hello, where did you see this information! I just tried to calculate a quote for Iran and didn’t see anything out of normal, but just got the normal quote
I m a UK citizen and hoping to travel by rd through Iran land borders to Pakistan, Which insurance would I need, please as I understand the land borders are very strict on these.
Iām planning to purchase travel insurance through Blue Cross in Canada, since Iām Canadian. Would this work?

Hey there! I thought about buying a one-month package from TrueTraveller for my upcoming Iran trip, as you are also recommending them especially for Iran. But as I went through there 2022 policy for non-UK citizens I came across the following condition: “You must observe travel advice provided by the UK F You oreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). No cover is provided under any section of this policy if you choose to travel to a destination to which the FCDO has advised against all or all but essential travel unless we agree in writing to include. Travel advice can be obtained from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Website: http://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice ” Checking the travel advice for Iran, it is clearly stated that “The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises British nationals against all travel to Iran.” So this would mean to me that TrueTraveller at the moment doesn’t cover Iran. Or are there any possibilities to make them cover travel there? Would really appreciate your advice. Thanks!
Thanks for the information. I did not use the services of IATI. We should try it next time.
This blog post says it’s updated in 2023. But did you actually confirm this year with these insurance companies that they cover Iran specifically? As Phil has mentioned above UK Gov states “Advice against all traveling” and this is a major exclusion for TrueTraveller. Please verify and let us know. Thanks!

Should You Buy Iran Travel Insurance From an International Company?
Some International companies offer Iran Travel Insurance. Their price is very high compared to the local providers (about 50 euros) due to the fact that their medical coverage is very high. Actually, you donāt need to be covered 2.5 million dollars for medical expenses in Iran, and you can buy a hospital with that kind of money! Most local providers cover theft, luggage loss, or legal assistance, which does not apply to some international companies.

Why Iran Travel Insurance?
After saving for a while and doing research, youāve finally decided to apply for Iran visa. Hooray! Youāve probably heard that you need a travel insurance for your trip, but you wonder āis it really necessary to get a travel insurance for Iran?ā Well, the answer is short and simple: YES. Basically, there are two reasons for having a travel insurance for traveling to Iran; First, a travel insurance is required to collect your Iran visa; without having a printout of your valid insurance, you canāt collect your visa from the embassy or the visa office at the airport. Second, you donāt want the unexpected mishaps to ruin your long-awaited trip. A good travel insurance can protect you against mishaps and cover many unexpected and exorbitant costs.
Can I use my existing travel insurance?
If you already have a travel insurance, be careful because a travel insurance for your trip to Iran can be different from a travel insurance to other destinations. That is, many insurances sold outside Iran are not valid for a travel to Iran or at least some parts of Iran. The problem is that, due to the long history of political tensions and sanctions between Iran and west, many insurers do not put Iran in their destination lists. So, if you want to use your travel insurance for getting your Iran visa, make sure ‘Iran’ is clearly mentioned in their list.

Why travel insurance is important for Iran
Iran uniquely blends ancient history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes. While it offers incredible experiences, it’s essential to acknowledge that travel, like anywhere else, comes with its share of risks. From unforeseen medical emergencies to lost luggage or flight cancellations, having travel insurance ensures that you are prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during your trip.
Types of travel insurance coverage for Iran
When choosing travel insurance for Iran, it’s crucial to understand the types of coverage available. Here are some common types of coverage to consider:
- Trip cancellation/interruption: This coverage protects you financially if you need to cancel or cut short your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, injury, or a family emergency.
- Medical expenses: This coverage ensures that you are protected in case of any medical emergencies or accidents during your trip. It includes coverage for hospital stays, medication, and emergency medical evacuation if necessary.
- Lost or delayed baggage: This coverage provides compensation for lost, stolen, or delayed baggage, ensuring that you can replace essential items if needed.
- Emergency evacuation: In the event of a natural disaster or political unrest, this coverage ensures you can safely evacuate from the country.
- Personal liability: This coverage protects you in case you accidentally cause damage to someone else’s property or injure another person.
It’s important to carefully review the coverage offered by different insurance providers and choose a policy that fits your specific needs and preferences.

Choosing the right travel insurance provider
Several factors must be considered when choosing a travel insurance provider for your trip to Iran. Here are some key considerations:
- Coverage for Iran: Not all travel insurance providers offer a range for Iran, so choosing a provider that explicitly includes Iran in their coverage area is important.
- Reputation and financial stability: Look for insurance providers with a good reputation and financial stability to ensure they can fulfill their obligations in case of a claim.
- Customer reviews: Read reviews and testimonials from other travelers to understand their experiences with different insurance providers.
- Price and coverage: Compare the prices and options different providers offer to find the best balance between affordability and comprehensive coverage.
Considering these factors, you can choose a travel insurance provider that offers the right coverage and peace of mind for your trip to Iran.
Factors to consider when purchasing travel insurance for Iran
When purchasing travel insurance for Iran, there are a few additional factors to consider due to the country’s specific requirements and regulations. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Visa requirements: Before purchasing travel insurance, understand Iran’s visa requirements. Some visas may require proof of travel insurance coverage, so it’s important to choose a policy that meets the specific requirements of your visa.
- Coverage limits: Check the coverage limits of the travel insurance policy, especially for medical expenses and emergency evacuation. Make sure they are sufficient to cover potential costs in Iran.
- Exclusions and restrictions: Carefully read the policy’s fine print to understand applicable exclusions or limitations. For example, some policies may limit coverage for certain activities or regions within Iran.
Understanding these factors will help you make an informed decision and ensure you have the right coverage for your trip to Iran.
Understanding the fine print of travel insurance policies
Before purchasing any travel insurance policy, reading and understanding the fine print is crucial. The policy’s terms and conditions outline the insurance coverage, exclusions, and limitations. Here are some key points to look for:
- Coverage exclusions: Pay close attention to the exclusions listed in the policy. These are specific situations or circumstances where the insurance will not provide coverage. Familiarize yourself with these exclusions to avoid any surprises.
- Pre-existing conditions: Some travel insurance policies may have restrictions or limitations related to pre-existing medical conditions. Make sure you understand how your specific situation is covered, if at all.
- Claim process: Take note of the procedures and documentation required to make a claim. Familiarize yourself with the claim process to ensure you can easily navigate it.
- Cancellation policy: Understand the cancellation policy, including any penalties or fees that may apply if you need to cancel your trip or change your coverage.
You can avoid misunderstandings or surprises regarding your travel insurance coverage by carefully reviewing and understanding the fine print.
How to make a travel insurance claim in Iran
If you need to make a travel insurance claim in Iran, following the proper procedures is important to ensure a smooth and efficient process. Here are the general steps to take when making a travel insurance claim:
- Contact your insurance provider: Notify your insurance provider immediately after the incident. They will guide what steps to take next and the documentation required.

Travel Insurance for Iran
Whether you are an oil worker traveling to Iran to carry out business operations, a volunteer providing aid work or simply a tourist looking to explore the intricate architecture or vibrant culture of the Tehran Grand Bazaar and abundance of delicious Persian food, there are a few things you should consider before you go. Most importantly is, what is required in terms of travel insurance for Iran due to a number of risks associated with visiting Iran.
Unfortunately, Iran represents a high risk of terrorism, where attacks can even occur in places visited by foreign tourists. There is also a risk of British Nationals, and an increased risk for British/Iranian dual nationals, being wrongfully detained when visiting Iran. Consequently, it is extremely important that travellers buy Iran Travel Insurance with sufficient travel cover before travelling. Especially as many āstandardā travel insurance policies will exclude travel to certain areas of Iran which the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) may advise against āall or all but essential travelā to. Fortunately, High Risk Voyager Iran Travel Insurance can provide travel cover for wrongful detention and to these areas where other travel insurance policies can't.
In addition to the increased risk of terrorism and wrongful detention, it is important to understand that Iran has no reciprocal healthcare agreement with the UK or the European Union. This means that you will not be able to use your GHIC in case of a medical emergency whilst visiting Iran. Consequently, you will be required to pay all costs associated with any emergency medical treatment you may require if you do not have the correct travel insurance for Iran.
On 14th April 2024, The FCDO advised āagainst all travelā to Iran, and as of 25th April 2024 this advices is still in force. As Iran doesn't recognise duel nationality, the FDCO also advises that āBritish-Iranian dual nationals" are at a much higher risk of wrongful detention and arrest. These travel advisories can change from day to day, so Click here to see the latest FCDO travel advice for Iran.
Fortunately, High Risk Voyager Travel Insurance for Iran can provide cover to the areas mentioned above and more as it is a specialist travel insurance solution for high risk and frontline locations that can provide travel cover even to areas the FCDO advise āagainst all but essential travelā or āall travelā. This FCDO rating would usually invalidate a normal āstandardā type travel insurance policy.
What is Covered on Your Iran Holiday Insurance Policy?
High Risk Voyager Travel insurance for travel to Iran has been specifically designed to offer extensive travel protection whilst visiting or working in āhigh riskā territorial zones in Iran. As well as being able to offer protection, if you choose, in the event of missed departure, baggage damage and sporting activities, our other policy benefits include:

Do You Need Travel Insurance for travel to Iran?
Since 2011, you need to have travel insurance for entering Iran. So, if you don’t have travel insurance, you have to buy it at the airport, especially when you want to collect your Iran visa on arrival . However, the nationalities who don’t need a visa to visit Iran don’t have to present their travel insurance at the Iran airports. Accordingly, the citizens of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Venezuela, Malaysia, Syria, Lebanon, Bolivia, Georgia, Egypt, Armenia, China, Hong Kong, and Macau can travel to Iran without getting an Iran visa and travel insurance. However, it is advised to get Iran travel insurance because nobody knows what awaits him.
How to Get Travel Insurance for Iran
You can buy insurance for traveling to Iran from some international insurance companies, Iranian insurance companies, or Iran airports. Here, we explain all of these methods.
Buying Travel Insurance for Iran from International Companies
As mentioned above, some International companies sell Iran Travel Insurance. Their price (starting from about 40ā¬) is higher than the Iranian insurance companies, but their coverage is very high. However, Iran’s medical expenses are moderate, and you don’t need to use travel insurance that covers millions of dollars.Ā
On the other hand, many travelers to Iran frequently ask: “Can I use my existing travel insurance for visiting Iran?” The answer is: It depends on your insurance company. Because due to Iran’s sanctions, many travel insurance companies in the other counties do not cover Iran. Therefore, you need to check that “Iran” is mentioned among the countries covered by your current insurance. In other words, you can not buy travel insurance for Iran from companies that do not explicitly mention Iran in their coverage policy.
Best International Companies that Offer Travel Insurance for Iran
Based on the travelers’ reviews, the best international travel insurance to Iran are IATI and True Traveller . Both of these companies are based in Europe but offer services to almost all travelers to Iran. Please note that we do not guarantee the services of IATI, True Traveller, or other international insurance companies. Please check their terms and conditions and the countries covered by their travel insurance before using their services.
IATI Iran Travel Insurance
IATI is a popular insurance provider based in Europe but offers coverage to all nationals, including Asians, Latin Americans, Americans, and Canadians.
Moreover, unlike the other insurance companies, IAT offers a special plan for long-term backpackers in Iran. On the other hand, their travel insurance costs are among the most affordable ones. Accordingly, its basic plan costs 40ā¬ (for a 2-week trip), including 50,000ā¬ of medical coverage plus convalescence in a hotel, baggage loss, damage or theft, legal covers, complete repatriation, etc.
However, the basic plan doesnāt cover adventure, so you should buy a higher plan to do adventurous activities.
True Traveller Iran Travel Insurance
The best Iran travel insurance for European backpackers is True Traveller because it offers affordable plans at reasonable prices for long-term European backpackers in Iran.
Moreover, if you buy travel insurance for Iran from True Traveller, you can purchase a basic plan and add supplements to enhance its coverage. Accordingly, its basic plan costs 53ā¬ (for a 2-week trip), including 2,500,000ā¬ of medical coverage and repatriation.
As you can see, the True Traveller medical coverage is very high, but it does not cover legal covers, baggage loss, damage, or theft, etc. However, as mentioned, you can add travel insurance supplements to improve its coverage. Notably, you need to be European to buy travel insurance for Iran from True Traveller

Getting Iran Travel Insurance at the Airport
If you have forgotten to buy travel insurance or find out that your current travel insurance doesn’t cover Iran, don’t worry! You can purchase travel insurance at Iran airport. Accordingly, before stamping Iran visa on arrival , the airport authorities will help you buy Iran travel insurance. However, you may have to stand in long lines to get your travel insurance for entering Iran.
Buying Travel Insurance from the Iranian Companies
Most Iranian insurance companies and local providers in Iran cover medical expenses and legal assistance, theft, luggage, and passport loss. It is noteworthy that, some of these services do not apply to some international insurance companies.
Iranian Travel Insurance Coverage and Benefits
As mentioned earlier, there are restrictions on using insurance companies based in other countries to buy Iran travel insurance. On the other hand, providing travel insurance at Iran Airport causes time-wasting and confusion upon arrival. As a result, we suggest obtaining travel insurance for travel to Iran from Iranian insurance companies. Because on the one hand, travel insurance issued by Iranian companies will be accepted at the time of obtaining a visa and at the Iran airports promptly. On the other hand, Iranian insurance companies offer good coverage at a fair price, considering the relatively low hospital and standard tariffs in Iran. Consequently, you do not need to pay a large amount for covering your unpredictable expenses in Iran using Iranian travel insurance.
Saman Travel Insurance Coverage
Saman Insurance company (BIMEH SAMAN) is one of the most reliable Iranian insurance companies which offers travel insurance to incoming travelers to Iran. Do I Need Iran Travel Insurance, Is It Mandatory to Have Travel Insurance for Iran Visa?
Since 2011, travel insurance has become mandatory for getting an Iranian tourist visa . However, many non-Iranian insurance companies do not offer coverage for travel in Iran due to sanctions. Thus, you should seek proper travel insurance that covers Iran. But before you purchase a new insurance plan, check your current insurance plan if it covers Iran. Please beware that terms such as Asia and Middle East on your insurance don’t necessarily include Iran. So, you need to make sure that the country Iran appears on the list of covered countries obviously. Otherwise, you have to ask your insurance company to issue a proof of coverage which confirms Iran is covered by your insurance plan.
Note: Iran Travel Insurance is not mandatory for the citizens of the following countries: (Nonetheless, I recommend that these travelers purchase Iran Travel Insurance for more safety).
Where To Purchase Iran Travel Insurance?
As a traveler to Iran you can choose between Iranian and non-Iranian insurance companies which cover Iran. IATI, Allianz, and True Traveller are examples of non-Iranian insurance companies that offer coverage for Iran. IATI is a popular insurance company that offers policies which generally suit various types of travelers. On the other hand, True Traveller is an insurance provider suitable for the long-term European backpackers. However, I recommend Iranian insurance providers. These companies offer plans that include theft and baggage loss, in addition to the medical coverage, which are not covered by some non-Iranian providers. Above all, the plan fees of Iranian providers are very low compared to those of non-Iranian companies.
Choose The Right Travel Insurance for Iran, Insurance Companies in Iran
In the previous section, I suggested that you purchase an Iranian travel insurance. Indeed, you can choose among various Iranian insurance companies, the most popular of which are: Alborz Insurance , Asia Insurance , Iran Insurance , Parsian Insurance , Pasargad Insurance , and Saman Insurance . In order for you to pick a proper travel insurance, you can consult your travel agency. Our travel agency can also assist you with finding the most suitable plan with lower prices. So, if you need our help, don’t hesitate to contact us .
How To Obtain Iran Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance is as essential as your passport when you are entering Iran as a tourist. The best way to obtain travel insurance is to ask your travel agency to arrange for the most appropriate insurance. Our travel agency is also here for you! Contact us and we will help you from A to Z to take out the right travel insurance. Alternatively, you can purchase travel insurance at international airports. However, I wouldn’t recommend it. The prices can be higher at the insurance kiosks at the airports.
Moreover, you might have to stand in long lines to purchase your travel insurance. Another issue that you might have to deal with is that if you arrive at the airport late at night the insurance kiosks will be closed. This can cause problems for your visa process since one essential document for visa application is the travel insurance. Thus, make sure to purchase your travel insurance well in advance of the travel.
Travel Insurance in Iran Coverage
Whether you are traveling to Iran for a short time or you are staying longer as a tourist, you will appreciate the coverage Iranian Travel Insurance plans can offer. These plans cover expenses for various services as follows:

- Medical Evacuation (it will get you home when you fall ill.)
- Legal support
- Lost or delayed luggages and lost documents
Having said that, you still need to check closely what services each insurance provider covers and pick the most suitable insurance plan.
Iran Insurance Rates
The prices for travel insurance plans can vary depending on your age, stay duration, insurance plan and coverage, as well as the insurance company. Though, the average cost of an Iranian Travel Insurance plan is approximately 10 to 20 euros. To find the most suitable Iranian Travel Insurance plan and quote contact your travel agency. You can also contact us and we will be by your side in this process!
Iran Insurance Reimbursement
After you have paid out-of-pocket for losses which are covered by your travel plan, an insurance claim should be submitted. Then, each company will pay back the claimed expenses based on its own reimbursement policies.

Top Travel Tips for Iran
1.Donāt drive
While driving at home might feel trying at times, it is slow, safe and utterly civilized in comparison with the traffic chaos youāll find in cities such as Tehran.
2.Be sun safe
Iran has a semi-dry climate with temperatures climbing above 30 degrees centigrade at certain times of year. Use high factor sun cream, regularly seek out shade and wear a hat and sunglasses to help minimize the risk of sunburn.
Itās also vital to make sure you stay hydrated. Tap water in Egypt is not suitable for drinking, so this means having bottled water with you at all times.
3.Dress considerately
Itās important to respect Persian culture while you are on trip there ā particularly if you are heading out of tourist areas to visit any of the countryās monuments, mosques or famous historical sites.
Both men and women are advised to dress conservatively when outside of hotel, with legs and arms covered. Women are expected to cover their hair in public, and anyone entering a mosque must always remove their shoes.
As a tourist youāll be expected to tip hotel staff, restaurant waiters/waitresses and even tour guides. Itās not customary to tip taxi drivers though.

Why Iran Travel Insurance?
After diligently saving and conducting thorough research, you’ve finally made the decision to apply for an Iran visa. Congratulations are in order! You may have heard murmurs about the necessity of procuring travel insurance for your journey. However, you might be pondering, “Is obtaining travel insurance for Iran truly imperative?” In short: YES.
The Importance of Iran Travel Insurance
When it comes to traveling to Iran, there are two primary reasons why securing travel insurance is paramount. Firstly, possessing travel insurance is a prerequisite for obtaining your Iran visa. Without presenting valid insurance documentation, you’ll encounter hurdles in collecting your visa, whether from the embassy or the visa office at the airport. Secondly, unforeseen mishaps shouldn’t be allowed to derail your long-awaited expedition. A robust travel insurance policy can shield you from such mishaps and mitigate the financial burdens associated with them.
Using Your Existing Travel Insurance
If you’re already covered by a travel insurance policy, exercise caution. Not all travel insurances are created equal, especially concerning trips to Iran. Many policies offered outside of Iran may not be applicable or may have limitations when it comes to Iranian travel. This stems from historical political tensions and sanctions between Iran and the West, leading numerous insurers to exclude Iran from their coverage lists. Hence, if you intend to utilize your existing travel insurance for acquiring your Iran visa, ensure that “Iran” is explicitly included in the list of covered destinations. Some insurance companies may use broad terms like “Asia” or “Middle East,” but even these may not suffice for visa officers. It’s advisable to request a document from your insurance provider explicitly mentioning Iran in the coverage list.
Securing Iran Travel Insurance
For those without pre-existing travel insurance or whose policies are unsuitable for Iran, acquiring Iran-specific travel insurance becomes imperative. While options exist for purchasing insurance directly from the embassy or visa office at the airport, opting for IranSafar ‘s online insurance service offers convenience and efficiency. In a mere five minutes, you can secure your Iran travel insurance at competitive rates, with the added benefit of receiving it within two working days.

Iran Travel Insurance; The Essential Detail of Traveling to Iran
Full guide to iran travel insuranceĀ .
Imagine getting sick on your trip, losing money, or even worse, losing your documents. In this case, you might get worried sick since you are in an unknown land. Fortunately, there is one solution for all of these and similar problems; getting Iran Travel Insurance. With providing insurance, if the problems above happen to you, the only thing you should do is sit back and relax in a cafĆ© and as you’re sipping on your cinnamon tea while insurance companies handle everything for you.Ā
The Full Definition of Iran Travel Insurance
With this kind of insurance, the person will be secured against some unexpected accidents such as loss of money or documents, or injuries. For example, most affordable public hospitals do not provide thorough, satisfactory medical attention in case of medical needs.
Therefore, foreign travelers may decide to access a private and well-equipped medical facility which costs more. Having insurance will make the best medical services affordable.
For money transactions, in case of losing money, since Iranian companies have been banned from many international financial interactions due to sanctions, the insurance companies have to involve a third party (or more) with which money transition is easier.
Nevertheless, all insurance companies provide different services, and it is up to the customer to choose which of them is essential on a trip.Ā
Also, customers have to balance their purchases with their budget. However, the hallmarks of the cost of the insurance are basically three folded; depending on the insurance is the company you choose, the prices vary (unlike the Iranian based companies, the international companies will cost more); the age (higher ages naturally need more care and attention; therefore, the price is higher); travel’s duration (the more extended periods have additional costs).Ā Ā
