The Kadalundi bird sanctuary, spread across a group of islands in the Arabian Sea, is a beautiful haven for regional birds as well as other migrating birds. The sanctuary flows into the river which bears its name, the Kadalundi. The river flows through Silent Valley and flows among the tiny hills of Kadalundi, delivering one of the most exciting experiences for nature lovers. The river originates in the Western Ghats. Visitors come from all over the world to this beautiful paradise, offering a natural habitat for over 60 different bird species. A variety of species, including seagulls, terns and greenshanks and turnstones come flocking to the islands from November to April, which is the ideal viewing time. You may explore the stunning beauty of Kadalundi with a range of water activities, boat trips, and island tours. A variety of migrating birds arrive at the Kadalundi River’s banks every year.

Kadalundi Kadavu, an estuary that draws visitors in large numbers
Kadalundi Kadavu, where the Kadalundi River meets the Arabian Sea, has turned a popular tourism spot these days. The place, located on the border of Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, is under the Kadalundi-Vallikkunnu Community Reserve.
There is a bridge in the area which offers fine views of the Kadalundi bird sanctuary and numerous rocks on the seashore where visitors prefer to spend time. On holidays, the place is crowded with tourists, who arrive from even the neighbouring districts.
A boat ride too is arranged by Kadalundi Reserve Ecotourism Centre which enables visitors to enjoy the sights on the river as well as the sea. Attractions include the estuary, mangroves and migratory birds.

Kadalundi panchayat launches eco-friendly tourism project
Meanwhile, the panchayat is planning to build a six-feet-wide nature walkway along the riverbank from the Community Reserve office to the estuary which would provide visitors easy access to area. Local residents have also demanded a tourism island project in Kadalundi Kadavu covering the Community Reserve Ecotourism Centre, Mullamel Fort at Chaliyam and Pulimutt to attract more visitors.
