New Orleans Eco-Tours

We first started this eco-tour business after looking at all of the tourist activities offered in New Orleans and recognizing that most of them were not ecologically focused.  We read a lot of reviews of other tour operators and noticed that there were plenty of people complaining about swamp tours having too large of groups, the illegal feeding of wildlife with hotdogs and marshmallows, and the overall quality of tours in general. So we set out to create smaller, high-quality tours that focus on the preservation and conservation of Louisiana’s wetlands, wildlife, and culture.

Five-Star Tour Rating on TripAdvisor

My gf came up with a great birthday gift. Weather was perfect, tour guide was very knowledgeable, the scenery was beautiful. I can’t wait to do another tour. We kayaked about 2.5 miles in, taking in all of the scenery. I’ve lived in the area on and off my entire life but never got to do anything like this. It was so much fun. Very easy going kayaks, easy to maneuver. I would highly recommend this tour company!

This tour was the highlight of my New Orleans trip. Very intimate group, beautiful scenery, up close and personal with the swamp and its critters. The pick up location was convenient. I've never gone kayaking before, but it is very manageable for a newbie. The company was very responsive to my last-minute booking request. Tour guide was from the area and very knowledgeable regarding its natural history. Would highly recommend to anyone!

We were in a very small group and our guide, Max, was extremely knowledgeable about the bayou and its wildlife. We did get to see an alligator but felt safe at all times. It was a very relaxing excursion and probably the highlight of my trip to NO. When dropping us off, Max tried to get us as close to our airbnb as he could, which we appreciated. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

LOVED the tour in the Manchac. I highly recommend. It’s beautiful, untouched, and surprisingly very close to New Orleans. Josh was great, taught us about the wildlife, trees, and geography. I’ll be back to Wild Louisiana Tours next time I’m in town.

We had a group of 3 with varied levels of comfort and skill- Max was friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. We had an amazing journey and learned a ton! Telling all my friends if they head your way- it’s a MUST.

Our Tours are Made With You and 5-Stars in Mind!

Jessie brought me and my friend on a great tour of Bayou St John. He gave a thorough tour both on a historical and environmental aspect. Exploring the bayou was great. His speeches were very enjoyable and questions well received.

Jesse is full of great knowledge about Bayou St. John. He takes you on relaxing, easy paddle, stopping at several spots to enjoy the wonderful historical houses or giant live oaks. We saw lots of turtles and herons. I highly recommend this tour for any one taking a visit to New Orleans.

We had a fantastic time on our tour with Jesse. Bayou St. John offers beautiful views of Mid-city and lots of cypress and live oak trees. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and how the bayou contributed to the economic birth of New Orleans.

This was a really great tour of a place I had no idea existed or was so essential to the development of New Orleans! It's a generally easy kayak experience, and two of our group had never kayaked before, so it's definitely open to all skill levels.

Jesse was a great tour guide with interesting facts about NOLA to share. And of course, kayaking and being on the water was great. Not too strenuous, beautiful day, and a unique way to see the city.

Bayou St. John City/Cultural/Historical Tour

Quick Details

  • Duration : 2 hours on the water

New Orleans Swamp Kayak Tour

Bayou St. John is the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans and one of the most beautiful natural settings in the city. Native Americans once settled on its banks and centuries later, the famous Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau, held ceremonies here that attracted thousands of devotees. For French colonists, the bayou served as an early settlement and an indispensable trade route. It’s no exaggeration to say that the city wouldn’t exist had it not been for Bayou St. John.

On this kayak tour, you leisurely paddle past the neighborhood’s historic homes and landmarks, as well as the magnificent City Park, learning the rich history of the bayou and the city to which it gave birth.

In a city that’s barely above water, there’s no better way to see it and discover its past than from a kayak.
