An evening dinner on a beautiful ship on the Seine viewing Paris at night? Five stars period. No discussion. What an evening! Exquisitely prepared staters. Filet mignon in entree perfectly medium rare. Wine and champagne were on point. Dessert was, mercifully, not large given the meal that preceded it. Exceptional. Late in the meal I stepped out to the deck. I watched as we quietly moved by the Louvre on my left, the Eiffel Tower to my right. Stunning. Breathtaking. A memory I will never forget; as I will not forget the Calife. We will return!
We spent last week in Paris. We had a wonderful time and were very much looking forward to this cruise. It was a splurge but we figured how often do you get to do a seine river cruise. Boy were we let down. Right from the jump, we got a call that afternoon that the seine was too high and that our boat, location and destination were all changed. We decided to do it anyway. The other boat, The clipper, is not near as nice or as charming, and had tv fireplaces for crying out loud. No live music, and disembarks from a bad part of town. The food i had was fine. It's a pre-fix menu. I had far better cafe meals for a third of the price. Dinner cruises have that reputation already, this was on par with carnival cruise line cuisine. By far the biggest disappointment is the wait staff. They were inattentive at best, and just plain disorganized. We had to wave them down to order drinks, to ask for bread, to bring us butter. They just completely ignored our table. Save your money. I paid for for a charming boat through charming Paris, I got a cheap knockoff version of that for full price.
It was a cold and drizzly Saturday (Samedi) evening when we crossed Pont des Arts after exiting the Louvre metro station and descended the old world stone stairs to the Seine riverside walk and across the ship's gangway into the warm and inviting veranda where our white linen table awaited us. If you're looking to make romantic memories with your sweetheart, this will do, donkey... this will do. For 149 Euros per person, we received the Menu Royal boissons comprises experience, which started our with a welcoming glass of champagne and these delightful small balls of cheesy bread as we perused our special menu. For appetizers, my sweetheart chose the Grilled prawns with gomasio, with a yuzu avocado and mango cream... a good choice if you're ready to get your fingers dirty. I went with the Puff pastry of chanterelles with foie gras and morel sauce... a good choice if you like mushroom. We both ordered the same entree, Beef fillet à la Rossini, which is a Rossini sauce, pan-seared foie gras, gratin dauphinois, with seasonal vegetables. We ordered it medium, but it came how they wanted to cook it, which was between a rare and medium rare. The included bottle of Domaine Perreal Le Jas, a French shiraz, paired well with everything! And for dessert, we enjoyed the chocolate lava cake, dizzled with a custard my shizzle, and lined with a vanilla ice cream from Madagascar. We also had a Revisited tarte tatin with a measure of Calvados. Yes, the food was a great experience, but the ambiance was so much more. Seeing the sparkling iron lady from our seats in a Seine waterway vessel was surreal, and we will always be grateful for our blessings. Thank you, Le Calife.

This meal was incredible. Each course of the menu royal was perfect and it was everything we could have asked for and more. The service was impeccable and the experience on the seine was amazing. Highly recommend!

Iced Nougat
Food and service was impeccable. They did forget to celebrate my birthday although there was about 7 other celebrations right near me. They lost a star for not giving a discount when they switched ships and routes due to the high level of the Seine. It would have just felt a little better going on a ship I didn't choose. Overall a great experience that you should do if you're looking to celebrate in Paris. Boat was nice but be aware if you end up on the clipper, I would request a table at the window for even better views.
La calife was a very memorable experience! Between floating on the Seine and "our welcome glasses of champagne, we also purchased the a wine option which includes a bottle of wine for per 2 people. The Foie Gras puffed pastry appetizer, and duck liver with ginger crackers were wonderful. The main dish of steak with the Foi Gras and potatoes was very delicious with a side of sauce. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful. We greatly enjoyed the desserts of calvados tart and the lemon cheesecake. Sightseeing on the seine was also wonderful. We especially enjoyed seeing the Eiffel tower twinkling at us in the night. All in all a wonderful evening

Eiffel Tower
If you are looking for a most memorable dining experience look no further than Le Calife. This was an incredible experience. Dining 5 stars while cruising the Seine at night with all Paris alit at Christmas time and to put the icing on the cake as we turned and approached the Eiffel Tower it began to Sparkle. What perfect timing. The menu Royal offers great choices and everything on the menu is presented beautifully and tastes excellent. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. The cruise part is very comfortable and goes at a nice slow pace. You are never rushed. The entire time lasted almost 3 hours.
Experience: 5/5 - This was a lovely dinner cruise, the boat was covered in glass windows, so every seat had a beautiful view of the river at all times. The staff was kind and welcoming. Also, the dinner ride is perfectly lined up with seeing the eiffel tower sparkle, making it a truly magical evening. Food: 3/5 - The cruise has two menus, both with a drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert, but one menu had an extra drink and a larger menu selection. We went with the cheaper of the two, as the other would cost us about $125 more, which didn't seem justifiable. For appetizers, we got foie gras and salmon gravlax, neither or which we enjoyed- to be fair we've never had foie gras, so not sure if we'd like it anywhere. The salmon was fine, but the sauce/ cheese with it was not great. For mains, we got the sea bass and yellow chicken supreme. The chicken was excellent- the highlight of the night! The bass was average, nothing special. For dessert, we got the iced nougat and the Moelleux au chocolate, both were delicious!

A lot of the elements of this Seine River dinner cruise have been covered but I will add a few details. The Royal menu is the upgraded menu included a bottle of wine (white or red, but variety of each is chef's choice), and more menu options. It seems best for meat eaters to be honest. There was a vegetarian course for each part of the dinner (salad for first course, grains and roasted veggies for entree for our day). The staff were very attentive and nice. The view is beautiful of course. We sat on the top level of the boat which was lovely. There are three levels of diners on the boat. We went past Notre Dame and turned around to the Eiffel Tower, turning back around at a smaller version of the Statue of Liberty. There is a small bathroom on the boat. All in all a very lovely and memorable night!
Everything about this lovely vintage dinner boat is amazing !! I have been on the Calife many times with friends and family . All always requests to do it again . The tour , food , views , decor & service is amazing ( Alexander was this visit server ) . It was even fun for my French friends to enjoy views they never saw living in Paris . You can not go wrong with this treat in life .
As you approach this amazing work of wood crafted art of a boat
You can almost feel the fun and Energy left on the boat as people departed with smiles and laughter in their souls.

A Moveable Feast: Three Ways to Cruise the Seine in Style
Lunch and dinner cruises on the Seine used to be a cheesy kind of affair — and not of the chic fromage variety. The river’s restaurants catered for the tourist crowd, or for what they thought tourists wanted — without realising that many visitors craved a more special onboard experience, something that matched the beauty of the view.
Fortunately for those who want a floating feast for all the senses, there are several super-stylish ways to experience the Seine …
Living up to the grandeur that lines the river’s banks, Le Calife (pictured above, also) — which docks at the foot of the Institut de France just by the Pont des Arts — is an historical monument itself.
After a loving eighteen-year restoration of a 1939 barge, La Calife is like something from a wanderluster’s exotic dream, all gleaming wood and glowing lanterns and eccentric, historic touches: a music room decorated with vintage floorboards from a former Parisian mansion and antique French stained glass, old Italian portholes, a 300-year-old Buddha …
Choose a two-hour lunch or dinner cruise; meals are priced from 87€ per head (alcohol is extras), and there’s a 45€ kids menu. Click here for more information.
Ducasse sur Seine
Esteemed chef Alain Ducasses’s entry into Paris’s river restaurant industry has, unsurprisingly, raised the bar.
Situated impressively across from the Eiffel Tower, this glossy glasshouse of a boat offers a numbers of multi-star meal experiences — click here for options — starting from 95€ for lunch, 150€ for dinner, per person. All cruises are two hours in length.
Le Bateau Français
Le Bateau Français is an ultra-chic, 1930s-inspired, architect-designed boat:
It can accommodate up to eleven guests, which helps to justify the splurge: a two-and-a-half-hour experience (with two hours of cruising) costs 890€, and comes complete with stylish apéro platters, champagne and rosé.
Or, you can customise the menu, and even route, which usually departs and ends at Port de l’Arsenal. For more information, click here .

Perfect dinner cruise
A great selection of menu options and the food and the service were both excellent. We chose this dinner cruise for our first night in Paris and what a great way to kick the trip off. Paris is gorgeous at night from the river and this boat was also nice and warm on a cool winter evening. Definitely a must do experience when visiting Paris! Can not say enough about just how enjoyable the evening was.
I am gutted I have to write this review. Having gone on this boat in 2015,2017 and 2018 I am shocked how much things have changed. Granted COVID has impacted us all - but not to this extent. I paid €149 per person to celebrate my wife’s birthday. According to the website (which doesn’t translate very well) this includes a welcome drink, extensive choice of food plus drinks whilst on board. What they don’t elaborate on is that it is ONE bottle of wine and ONE bottle of water per table, plus ONE coffee each (which you don’t get might I add). When something says drinks included your expectation is somewhat high. I know you’re in France, but €80 for a bottle of bog standard wine is pushing it a bit! PLEASE DO NOT GO FOR THE MENU ROYAL ITS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. To add insult to injury, the cruise that formerly timed the Eiffel Tower light show to perfection has now become some what of an after thought. They have now decided to be like the other “dinner cruises” on the river and get there as quick as possible - by the time the show starts you are heading in the opposite direction. Shame on you Le Calife for spoiling a wonderful Paris gem! I will certainly not be in a rush to return.
We chose the Calife for a lunch tour with a large group of friends. The process of setting us up for this event was flawlessly managed by the staff with timely responses and a genuine effort to make our event memorable. Since we had booked several weeks ahead, our seating area request was honored. The food was quite good and the service was timely despite a large number of guests on the tour.
Our firm rented Le Calife for a professional networking event, and it was a blast! Most preparations had to be done remotely, and went very smoothly, with great communication and responsiveness (essential for remote event planning). The manager Gina is brilliant! The event itself (a cocktail party for 150 people) went fantastically well, and we received a lot of great feedback. Our guests especially enjoyed the boat’s warm and authentic atmosphere, the nightly view over the Louvre (the boat was docked during the whole evening) and the friendly welcoming of Le Calife team. My colleague and myself also had the pleasure to experience Le Calife’s traditional dinner cruise the other day, and it is warmly recommended! We truly enjoyed the staff's hospitality, the great food and stunning views of Paris. Thank you, Le Calife! We won't hesitate to return.
The boat is lovely and very cozy and comfortable inside. The food was delicious and the staff very attentive.
We decided to book this dinner cruise after seeing a YouTube video by Les Frenchies. We had three nights in Paris and wanted to experience the river at night. We arrived at 8pm for our 8:45 sailing. We were seated promptly near the very front of the boat, which is beautiful and extremely classy Think brass and wood and lots of windows for perfect viewing as you sail . The tables and chairs are close so be prepared to at least greet those sitting on either side of you. We were served a glass of champagne each and asked our preference for white or red as a bottle was included with our package. The boat set sail at exactly 8:45. We cruised south east (?) and then turned and cruised back and up to arrive at the Eiffel Tower just as the sparkling lights came on at 10pm. The boat turned around at the Statue of Liberty. This route gives everyone on board a chance to see both sides of the Seine without ever needing to reposition your chair. The food was possibly the best meal we had on our two week stay in France. Puff pastries, foie gras, lamb and beef that cut with a fork and were perfectly presented. My desert of choice was warm lava cake, served with vanilla ice cream. Service was professional and unobtrusive. Plates were cleared quickly yet we never felt rushed. The boat docked again at 10:45 and that ended a perfect experience. Thanks to the staff and crew for a wonderful memory
