How to Play

The Love Boat – Second Chances is a time management game. The goal of the game is to assist as many passengers as possible within a limited period of time. The happier passengers are, the higher your score will be!

Passengers will enter an area asking for assistance. They may require an item, a service, or a combination thereof. A bubble will appear over passengers’ heads indicating what they need. Sometimes a color will appear inside the bubble once a passenger makes a request. Assist the passenger before the color drains from the bubble completely to earn bonus points for quick service.

Once a passenger is ready to check out, they’ll move to the register or checkout tablet. The checkout varies according to level. Some levels have checkout screens. Some levels will have you send passengers out via an elevator. Once passengers are checked out, you’ll receive a final score for your service, which will be added to your overall score for the day. Try to earn a high enough score before time runs out!

Navigating the Map

Click and hold any portion of the level select map, swiping left or right to move between level select screens. Click on a numbered buoy to select the level you’d like to play and view a short description.

Isaac is one slick waiter. Promote Isaac to increase passenger movement speed!

Adam Bricker aka “Doc”

How to Unlock: Complete Level 10

Doc is very efficient. Doc’s special ability increases the time available during a level, allowing you more time to finish a level and earn higher scores.

Burl “Gopher” Smith

How to Unlock: Complete Level 14

Gopher’s surprisingly quick. Promote Gopher to increase your own movement speed.

Scoring and Customer Happiness

Each passenger will enter an area with a floating heart. This heart indicates how happy the passenger is. The faster you assist a passenger or give them what they need, the happier they’ll be. Hearts are converted into scores once the passenger is checked out.

Passengers will become unhappy if you take too long. As a heart depletes, the passenger will become upset. Angry passengers will have their hearts turn into storm clouds. Assist them quickly, or else they’ll storm off!

The happiest customers will have a gold heart. These passengers have infinite patience at checkout and give the highest scores once they leave. Assist passengers quickly and bring them everything they ask to earn these golden hearts.

Earn bonus points by checking out passengers in groups. Up to 4 passengers can be checked out at the same time. Passengers will gold hearts will wait as long as you like, but customers without will gradually lose patience. Try not to keep them waiting too long!

Mice Locations

Carl the mouse has returned in style! A mouse is hidden in each of the game’s 60 story levels. Find the mouse to earn a score bonus. Click “Show Mouse Locations” under any level to view the possible places mice may appear during that level. For a complete list of all mouse locations, visit the Mouse Locations section .

Additional Tips and Tricks

• Next, Please! – Click the yellow Next Passenger button in the upper left corner to speed up passenger arrivals.
• Time to Restock! – Some items are available in limited quantity and need to be restocked. Restock items at the start of the day to give yourself an immediate advantage.
• My Heart is Gold for You – Serve customers complete orders quickly to improve their mood. Customers with gold hearts are the happiest they can possibly be. These golden customers will wait at the register for an infinite amount of time and give the highest scores once checked out.
• Finished? Just Checking! – Several minigames will require you to click a checkmark button after finishing the minigame to complete it. Don’t forget to check off your work!
• We’re Stronger as a Team! – Feeling stuck on a level? Try replaying the level with a different crew member. Each crew member has their own special abilities.
• Table for Two, Please! – Customers will often walk in alone and only require one seat at a table. Don’t be shy to sit two strangers together to make the most of the space!
• Eek, a Mouse! – Carl the mouse is hidden in each of the game’s 60 story levels. Keep a sharp eye out for his whiskers and listen for the telltale squeak!
• The Diamond Standard – Complete level bonus challenges and goals to earn diamonds. You can use diamonds to upgrade your crew members and their special abilities.
• Would You Like an Upgrade? – Buy upgrades after selecting a level. Upgrades will allow you to unlock special abilities and extras that will help boost your gameplay and score. Your score will be converted into coins to spend on upgrades once you finish a level.
• How About a Promotion? – Promote crew members to level up their abilities! Each crew member possesses a unique ability to boost your gameplay.

Shattered glass is everywhere! Clean up all the broken glass shards off the pool deck. There are 10 pieces total to find and clean up. Their locations are shown below:

Complete your shift without removing any items from your tray. Take extra care when picking up items for customers.

Passengers must leave with a golden heart. Pay close attention each passenger, attending to them quickly and serving them complete orders. Provide a perfect service and you’ll earn a golden heart! Golden heart passengers have infinite patience when waiting to check out.

Level 7 – A Little Help?

·       Listen to Bert’s request 5 times.

Bert’s got plenty of requests for the crew today. Each time Bert appears and a “!” bubble pops up over his head, click on Bert to fulfill his request. Do this a total of 5 times today to complete today’s challenge.

·       Challenge: Good assistant!

Complete every minigame successfully without losing a single heart. For help with specific minigames check out the Minigames section .

Customers who order today will have the icons of their orders disappear quickly after ordering. Quickly prepare and deliver the order before you forget what it was!

Level 8 – Special Deliveries

·       Set up Gopher’s camera.

Gopher’s camera is sitting on the bar and requires setting up. Click on the camera marked with a “!” bubble to begin setting it up. A percentage bar will appear displaying your progress. Finish setting up the camera before the end of your shift to complete today’s challenge.

·       Challenge: Bad hair day!

Customers will arrive in a bad mood today. Serve customers full orders quickly to improve their demeanor and the scores they give!

·       Challenge: Can’t carry any more!

Work with only one slot on your tray for the entire day. You’ll need to serve customers one item at a time. To remove an item from your tray, click the unwanted item once it’s on your tray to discard it.

Level 9 – Relaxing Poolside

·       Clean up all water puddles.

The pool area is a disaster! Mop up the water puddles and set up the caution sign before the end of your shift. Each area in need of attention is marked with a “!” bubble at the start of the day. Finish cleaning and setup before time’s up to complete this challenge.

·       Challenge: No duplicates!

Be careful not to deliver the same item twice in a row! Alternate serving various items to passengers. If the same item is ordered back-to-back, pick up another item first to add it to your tray. You can remove unwanted items by clicking on them once they’ve been placed on your tray.

Catch all the mice that appear. Mice can turn up in numerous locations, including those pictured below. Find them all before the end of your shift!

·       Don’t deliver the same item twice in a row.

Today’s all about item management. Don’t deliver the same item twice in a row. If two customers order the same item back-to-back, wait until another customer places an order for a different item, then deliver that item between the duplicate orders.

·       Challenge: One at a time.

Don’t check out more than one passenger at a time. Check out each passenger individually without any others present at the checkout. You may want to avoid using the Next Passenger button to most effectively completely this challenge.

·       Challenge: Hang in there!

Survive the day with a breaking tray. The number of available slots on your tray will decrease over time. Service combos will become increasingly difficult as the day progresses, so use the Next Passenger button early to ensure higher scores at the start of your shift before your tray starts breaking.

Earn quick bonuses by serving passengers within a few seconds of them ordering. Bring the item a customer asks for before the color drains from their order bubble to guarantee a quick order bonus. If you find yourself struggling, try keeping popular items or a spare item with longer preparation time on your tray for quicker service.

·       Challenge: Check out multiple customers at once.

Check out multiple customers at the same time. Line up multiple customers at checkout before completing checkout. Use the Next Passenger button to speed customers along into convenient groups to gain an advantage in this challenge.

Level 12 – War Wounds

Show Level 12 Mouse Locations – Doc’s Office

·       Tend to Isaac’s injuries.

Isaac needs Doc’s help to get back up on his feet. Throughout your shift, Isaac will ask for help. Each time a bubble appears with Doc pictured inside, click on Isaac to tend to him. Perform the touch gesture indicated, such as clicking and holding inside a circle, or clicking and holding while swiping left or right. Tend to Isaac 4 times today to complete today’s challenge.

Load the Luggage Trolley

Aid the passengers checking out by loading their luggage onto the trolley. Click and hold the luggage to move it to the correct outlined location matching the luggage shape and size.

Pool Minigames

Adjust the jacuzzi.

Help customers relax in the hot tub. Adjust the water temperature by clicking and moving the dials up or down until the customer is happy. The customer will go from angry to pensive once the first dial is moved correctly. The customer will then go from pensive to happy once the second dial is correct. Click the check mark once the customer appears happy to complete the minigame.

Help passengers get comfortable in the lounge chair. Click on the adjustment dial, moving it until the customer is happy. You may need to click and rotate multiple times. Click the checkmark button in the lower right corner to complete the minigame once the passenger is happy.

Provide shade for the passengers by adjusting the umbrella. Click the adjustment piece on the umbrella pole, moving it up or down until the passenger is happy. Click on the check button to complete the minigame.

Soothe the bites.

The bugs are biting! Click on bug bites to rub gel or ointment on the bites until they disappear. You only need to click each bug bite once.

Use the Stethoscope

Sometimes passengers require a checkup. Move the stethoscope to the dotted outlines to listen for problems. Click inside the circle to perform a check. The minigame will end once you’ve checked each area successfully.

Menu selection.

Find the meals in the cookbook matching the images on the right by clicking and turning the pages. Click on matching food items until every food item has been selected.

Fix the Soup

Add the correct ingredients by selecting from the tray on the left. Use the image on the right as reference to find the correct mixture. Click and hold ingredients from the left and drag them into the soup. The soup will be automatically added to your inventory once it’s correctly made.

Bar & Lounge Minigames

Drinks machine.

Deliver the requested drink according to the image shown. Click on the drink machine to create the correct mix. Select the mix to pour it into the glass, then click and hold the glass to move it to the right end of the machine. Click on the ice button to finish preparing the drink.

Clean the Table

Clear the glasses from the table before the next passenger arrives. Click and hold dirty glasses on the table and move them to the tray to be cleared away. Then, click and hold, moving the cursor back and forth over the dirty table to wipe it down.

Serve up the passengers’ choice of beef or chicken tacos. Using the image shown, recreate the perfect taco by selecting and cooking the correct components. Choose the correct meat for the interior of the taco, shown in the upper right corner, and click and hold it to drag it into the skillet. Once the meat has been added to the skillet, click and hold the skillet, moving it back and forth quickly over the grill to cook the meat. Once the meat has been cooked, click and add it to the interior of the taco shell to complete preparation. You may then serve the taco to the hungry customer.

Photo-Op Memento

Help passengers create the perfect reminder of their dream vacation. Line up the passenger in the middle of the camera using the slider bar below the green box. Once the customer is aligned and happy, click on the checkmark button at the top of the camera to snap a photo.

What’s It About?

When THE LOVE BOAT: PUZZLE CRUISE begins, it's been years since The Pacific Princess has spread love anywhere. But at the behest of the newly reinstated Captain Stubin, you can put the "love" back in The Love Boat, fixing her up and restoring her to her former glory... and maybe finding some "love" for yourself as well. Well, when Gopher isn't being his usual self, that is. Players interact with the puzzles here like any other traditional match-3 puzzle game to clear items from the game board, and will earn coins to upgrade sections of the ship as well as stars to unlock new areas and story moments.

Is It Any Good?

Ask any child of the '70s who watched a lot of The Love Boat in the '80s, and it'll be their pleasure to set sail on this clever match-3 puzzle/home improvement game. In The Love Boat: Puzzle Cruise you have to help Captain Stubin fix up The Pacific Princess. To do this, you have to move three or more of the same floaty pool toys on a board so they line up, thus removing them from the board and, hopefully, fulfilling the requirements of that particular puzzle before you run out of turns. Doing so not only opens up the next puzzle, it also gives you a chance to pick out some new drapes, carpets, and other furnishings that will hopefully spruce up this cruise ship.

As match-3 puzzle games with home decorating aspects go, this is solid, if uneventful. While the puzzles do get progressively tougher (as they always do), this isn't as inventive as other ones that've been released. Which is why this is more for fans of the original TV show who enjoy this kind of puzzle game than just people solely into the puzzle game itself. It's just too bad they didn't go full throttle with the nostalgia and get the original actors to voice their characters. But if you can live with Captain Stubbing, Doc, Isaac, Julie, and Representative Gopher being Sims -like computer characters who don't talk, and you enjoy matching three rubber duckies in a row, you should set a course for the adventure that is The Love Boat: Puzzle Cruise.

In a world that has grown more dangerous in recent years, the nightmare scenario of a Third World War is in the public consciousness.

Earlier this year, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps warned the world could be engulfed by wars involving China, Russia, North Korea and Iran in the next five years, and said we are moving "from a post-war to pre-war world".

The relief felt at the end of the Cold War in the late '80s has been replaced with increasing alarm at Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and there is outcry at the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Sky News spoke to experts about whether World War Three is a possibility - and if we really are living in a "pre-war world".

The two countries have agreed formally recognising a Palestinian state would help to end the current conflict.

At a joint news conference, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob said: "The most important thing is that we have addressed a whole series of questions - when, not if, but when is the best moment to recognize Palestine." 

Mr Golob did not give a timeline for this, saying the matter did not depend on Slovenia and Spain alone but on other international factors.

However, he said Slovenia would vote in the United Nations Security Council for full membership of a Palestinian state. 

Spain has long been a champion of Palestinian rights and last month agreed with the leaders of Ireland, Malta and Slovenia to take the first steps towards recognising a Palestinian state.

Arab states and the European Union agreed at a meeting in Spain in November that a two-state solution was the answer to the conflict.

International peace efforts have long focused on creating an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, but these have been stalled for a decade. 

Since 1988, 139 out of 193 United Nations member states have recognised Palestinian statehood. 

A police vehicle has been struck in Gaza City, killing eight people, according to a report. 

The vehicle was thought to be helping with securing aid deliveries and maintaining order, Al Jazeera reports. 

The eight people killed were reportedly part of the law enforcement deployment helping in the Tuffah neighbourhood. 

The incident happened in the eastern part of the city, which is densely populated. 

Several pro-Palestine protesters have been arrested during a demonstration in Miami, Florida, local reports say. 

Demonstrators gathered across multiple US cities to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. 

Some protesters were reportedly dragged from the street by police after they tried to lie down and block traffic. 

The UN human rights office has called on Israel's security forces to immediately end their active participation in and support for attacks by Jewish settlers on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

A string of settler attacks on Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank have been reported in recent days.

The attacks ramped up following the alleged killing of a 14-year-old Israeli boy in what Israeli authorities said was a militant attack. 

Seven Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since the attacks began on Friday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. 

Israeli authorities have urged people not to resort to vigilante attacks. 

Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli leadership are solely responsible for the recent escalating tensions in the Middle East, Turkey has said. 

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Israel was "trying to provoke a regional conflict, and its attack on Iran's embassy in Damascus was the last drop". 

Iran said its attack on Israel at the weekend was in retaliation for a suspected Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate. 

Mr Erdogan told a news conference that new regional conflicts were possible while the "cruelty and genocide" in Gaza continued. 

He called on all parties to act with common sense. 

The Turkish president also criticised the West for condemning Iran's attack but not the Israeli strike on Iran's consulate. 

Lord Cameron will be heading to Israel overnight for a one-day visit, during which he will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He is also expected to meet his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz, an official told The Times of Israel. 

The British foreign secretary wants to discuss expanded humanitarian aid routes to Gaza, with a particular focus on opening the Ashdod Port and a new crossing from northern Gaza, the newspaper reported.

He will also discuss the Iranian missile and drone attack, tensions in Lebanon, and the hostage crisis. 

Senior Palestinian Authority officials will also meet Lord Cameron in Ramallah. 

Rishi Sunak and Benjamin Netanyahu held a call this afternoon where the British prime minister called for "calm heads" over the situation with Iran. 

A Downing Street spokesperson said Mr Sunak had told his Israeli counterpart that "significant escalation was in no one's interest and would only deepen insecurity in the Middle East". 

"This was a moment for calm heads to prevail," they said. 

Mr Sunak said Iran had "badly miscalculated and was increasingly isolated on the global stage" as the G7 coordinates a diplomatic response. 

He also repeated the UK's support for Israel's security and for stability in the Middle East. 

Mr Netanyahu was said to have thanked the UK for its "rapid and robust support in the face of Iran's reckless and dangerous attack on Saturday". 

On the situation in Gaza, Mr Sunak said he remained "gravely concerned about the deepening humanitarian crisis". 

"The UK wanted to see a massive step change in aid access to flood Gaza with vital supplies, including Israel opening up new aid routes as quickly as possible," the spokesperson said. 

The prime minister had commented it was "deeply disappointed" that Hamas blocked a potential ceasefire-hostage deal.

When the first pictures of downed Iranian rockets emerged on Sunday morning, they didn't look real.

Even seasoned military spokesman Peter Lerner was fooled. 

"I thought it was fake news," he told Sky News.

The huge black tubes littering the Dead Sea and other parts of Israel seemed too colossal to be genuine.  We had seen them on the back of trucks on parade in Tehran but not fired in anger before.

At a military base near the coast, we were shown the fuel tank for an Emad or 'Pillar of Strength' missile intercepted as it entered Israeli airspace that night. 

It is 11m long but with a warhead the size of small car would have been even bigger. It has a range of 1,000 miles, a payload of half a ton of explosives, is accurate to 10m, and on Saturday was fired by the dozen at Israel.

Standing next to it, suddenly the claims Iran's attack was in any way a token effort or symbolic seemed absurd.

If any one of those ballistic missiles had reached an Israeli population centre it would have been devastating.

Showing the rocket to journalists, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the attack will not go unpunished.

"Firing 110 ballistic missiles directly to Israel will not get [off] scot-free. We will respond. In our time. In our place. The way that we will choose," he said.

There is reportedly intense debate in government about how that will happen. The government is under pressure to strike back hard and quickly to exact a high price that will deter Iran from ever aiming such missiles at Israel again.

But others fear that could jeopardise the coalition of allies and neighbours that helped protect Israel that night.

David Horovitz is editor of the Times of Israel and one of its most seasoned observers of the country's international relations.

"There's concern that if you hit back, you risk shattering that coalition, you potentially prompt a further Iranian response and therefore a regional war, even potentially a world war," he told Sky News.

There is opportunity. A chance to build on that coalition to create real international pressure on Iran not least to stop its alleged nuclear weapons programme.

But there is jeopardy too, with a huge amount at stake.  Some reports claim Israel’s retaliation will stop short of an all-out attack on targets inside Iran, but that is by no means certain.  The coming hours could decide if the Middle East is plunged into a widening war or not.

Rishi Sunak and Benjamin Netanyahu will speak on the phone tonight, Sky News understands.

It comes after Mr Sunak told MPs yesterday during a statement to parliament following Iran's attack on Israel that he would be speaking to his Israeli counterpart "shortly".

After what Number 10 said was issues with scheduling the call between the leaders, a time has now been set for this evening.

These Travelers Have a Secret: They Love Cheap Cruises on Old Ships

R oyal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, a cruise ship over five times as large as the Titanic, is preparing for its inaugural voyage in late January. A subset of die-hard passengers are saying they would much prefer the opposite of that mammoth boat.

Picking an older, smaller cruise might make for less fancy travel, but it comes with obvious advantages. Lower demand for the aged vessels in cruise lines’ fleets can prompt some big-deal savings. Some of these ships sail more exotic itineraries, and passengers enjoy greater attention from crew members without feeling so crowded. A cruise ship can start to show its age at around 15 years.

“Each ship has its own personality,” says Mari Marks, a luxury-travel adviser with Protravel International in Beverly Hills, Calif. “Because not everybody is going to love being with over 5,000 of their new best friends.”

Royal Caribbean operates the six largest cruise ships in the world. The Icon is now the largest. It can hold more than 7,000 passengers and comes with everything from an ice-skating arena to six waterslides.

A well-traveled boat

A few years ago, cruise regular and Las Vegas resident David Di Vito went on his first cruise aboard the Oasis of the Seas, which was once the world’s largest cruise vessel. Since then he has sailed on multiple Royal Caribbean ships. His favorite is the less-heralded Vision of the Seas.

Vision of the Seas has been in service since 1998. Di Vito and his fiancée, Marina Vail, appreciated that they weren’t overwhelmed by crowds and could do the activities they wanted.

While the older vessel didn’t have the many niceties of the Oasis of the Seas, they enjoyed themselves. Di Vito liked grabbing a deck chair and watching the ocean. Vail peeled off for trivia games and scavenger hunts.

Fewer people also meant better service, Di Vito, a 34-year-old sound engineer, says. He recalls that the Wi-Fi was more reliable, guest services was more responsive and booking excursions at ports of call wasn’t a hassle.

Such trips are often also cheaper. A seven-night sailing on the Icon of the Seas started at around $2,536 a person on a recent search for an interior stateroom before applying discounts. A three-night cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, Fla., in early September on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, which will have its maiden voyage in July, started at $827 a person for an interior cabin before discounts.

Meanwhile, a four-night cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, out of Tampa, Fla., on the Grandeur of the Seas, the cruise line’s oldest ship, around that same time started at $519 a person for an interior room before discounts.

Royal Caribbean didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The big get bigger

Other cruise companies have introduced gargantuan vessels in recent years. MSC Cruises entered the MSC World Europa into service in December 2022. The ship can hold more than 6,700 passengers and more than 2,100 crew members.

Carnival’s flagship, the Celebration, had its maiden voyage in late 2022. That ship has a maximum capacity above 6,500 passengers—and boasts the first roller coaster at sea.

“Larger ships offer more operational efficiencies, more revenue-generating opportunities and more space to offer a variety of accommodations, dining, entertainment and recreational features,” says Chris Chiames, chief communications officer for Carnival Cruise Line.

A cruise’s cost generally depends on factors including the length of the trip and demand for the itinerary, travel advisers say. But the ship’s age can also factor in.

Phil Perrey, a minister from St. Charles, Mo., says he and his wife wanted to sail on one of Royal Caribbean’s newer and larger ships. By the time they finished pricing it out, they realized they could pay at least $300 less to sail on the Celebrity Equinox, which first entered service nearly 15 years ago.

“And that’s for a higher-end cruise line,” Perrey says.

A ship pro tip

When booking cruises, Perrey takes an approach recommended by many travel advisers. Instead of looking at when a ship first sailed, he checks when it was last refurbished during what is known as a dry dock.

“A 10-year-old ship that hasn’t been through dry dock is going to feel older than a 20-year-old ship that got out of dry dock two years ago,” he says.

Carnival uses the dry-dock process to install features on its more-mature ships, such as the adult-only Serenity section, Chiames says. Three of its ships—the Sunshine, the Radiance and the Sunrise—were renamed following extensive renovations.

Older ships can come with drawbacks, even if they are recently renovated. They tend to have smaller rooms and fewer cabins with balconies, says Rob Clabbers, president of Q Cruise and Travel in Chicago.

Keeping older ships in a fleet enables cruise lines to serve a wider array of destinations. Newer megaships can be too big to dock in certain harbors, including Tahiti.

“We intentionally place our smaller ships in more exotic destinations with longer, port-intensive itineraries that offer a more immersive experience that our guests love,” says David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

Adam Carnevale, a small-business owner from Hickory, N.C., has sailed most often with Carnival. He and his wife regularly take advantage of offers they get since they frequent the casino.

Many of his cruises have been aboard the Carnival Sunshine. The ship sails out of Charleston, S.C., about four hours from home. They also appreciate the hometown vibe of the ship: They frequently recognize passengers and crew members from previous sailings.

Carnevale was less enthusiastic about a cruise he took out of Miami on the Celebration last summer. He says he found the food and service not up to the same level of quality as what he experienced on the Sunshine. He also wasn’t wowed by the ship’s many amenities, which he compared with an ice-cream cone overloaded with toppings.

“You don’t have to give me all the fancy stuff,” he says. “Sometimes vanilla is good.”
