How Omarion's Star-Studded Millennium Tour Celebrates a "Very Special Time" in Music

As part of e's backstage pass, omarion gave fans a preview into how he gets the party started at one of this year's must-see tours..

The biggest party of the year could just be on The Millennium Tour. 

For the past several weeks, Omarion  and his closest friends including Bow Wow , Ashanti , Soulja Boy and more have been getting fans up on their feet in venues across the country. And with a jam-packed schedule planned for November, these artists aren't slowing down anytime soon.

"This whole concept of The Millennium Tour is really a true representation of an era and time where music felt a certain type of way," Omarion, who serves as the headliner, exclusively shared with E! News. "This tour is special for that reason. It brings you back to a place. It brings you back to a time when you heard a song for the first time. It's not just a sing along. It's also entertainment."

The R&B singer continued, "It's the Ying Yang Twins , Sammie , Lloyd …I like to highlight that we've been performing since we were very young. Bow Wow, my business partner in crime. All of our audience is coming up in that era of 106 and Park and TRL ."

When determining his set list, Omarion wasn't afraid to look back on his entire career, which started off in the boy band B2K . And while he doesn't want to give everything away before his shows, the Grammy nominee is confident fans will be very happy with what they hear onstage.

"My audience is definitely prepared for some of my older tunes but also introducing some new songs," he teased. "I've never had B2K in my set as a solo artist. I wanted to kind of leave those songs behind but I brought that back in…I do some new songs. It's a mesh of going from the past and moving into the future now." 

Looking ahead, Omarion is preparing to publish his first book,  Full Circle: Lessons & Takeaways on How to Live an Unbothered Life , in 2022.

But for now, he's ready to get fans movin' and groovin' with his biggest hits, including his new collaboration with Bow Wow and Soulja Boy titled " EX ."

"For the originals, for the people that have been on the journey since the beginning, we want to say welcome," Omarion shared. "They know that they will be entertained and for the newbies, I would just say expect the unexpected. Expect to remember, expect to feel, expect to dance, expect to have all that energy permeate and be able to stand in your moment and take some mental pictures and really feel and embody and express joy."

In between performing at venues across the country, Omarion gave E! News an exclusive look at The Millennium Tour. "It's a very special time in music and that is really what I'd say is the magic of the tour is," he explained. "We're able to really encapsulate nostalgia and that's really why this tour is super, super special." 

With more than 20 years in the business, Omarion credits one family member for making it all possible. "I definitely have to salute my mom, being a young mother and having me at 16. I have to give her all the credit because she really gave me and my brother's the freedom to experience whatever we wanted," he explained. "I've really accredited my career to having a strong foundation and a sense of family and because I had that foundation, I've always been able to keep healthy habits and prepare myself for progression and change."

As a proud dad to two children with Apryl Jones , Omarion hopes they receive one message when watching dad perform. He wants them to realize they "have the freedom to explore and figure out what their purpose is here on this planet and their contribution not only to themselves first, but to society and this wonderful life experience that is happening so fast," he shared. "The foundation is the key to building anything. If you want to build something, you have to build them on things that are sturdy and strong." 

How does Omarion look so good on tour? In addition to his loyal hairstylist, the performer also credits working out for his sleek appearance. "Myself and my good friend who is head of security, Swaggy P , we do high intensity training," he shared. "I've been training for maybe the last five or six years with him and I've just been really building my stamina over time to be able to perform high intensity and take those breaks when necessary."

Before showtime, Omarion likes to hang with friends including Summer Walker and build up his energy. "Just like a boxer, we don't go to the fight cold. We're warming up our bodies with dancing, stretching, drinking some warm tea," he said. "I really, really prepare my mind body and spirit. Sitting in silence is also one of my rituals, breath exercises and vocal warm ups." 

When teasing The Millennium Tour, Omarion hoped that audience members could forget about their troubles and experience two hours of happiness. "We all have a difficult time in life at some point," he said. "And it's very important in this human experience that we all link together from all different walks of life to express that joy and how important it is for our human experience."

Omarion and Bow Wow Announce 'Millennium Tour' Dates

The “Millennium Tour” is coming back this fall.

After being delayed due to the pandemic, Omarion and Bow Wow have announced new dates for their joint tour. This time around, they will be joined by Ashanti, plus special guests Soulja Boy, Ying Yang Twins, Lloyd, Sammie, and Pretty Ricky.

The 27-date trek kicks off Oct. 1 at L.A.’s The Forum before making its way to arenas across the country, with stops in Detroit, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Miami, and Memphis, wrapping Nov. 26 in Las Vegas.

Omarion and Bow Wow were originally set to tour last year before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled tour dates. The original “Millennium Tour” was headlined by B2K in 2019 and grossed over $28 million .

Before bringing their live show to a city near you, Bow Wow and his tourmate Soulja Boy will face off during their highly-anticipated Verzuz battle on Saturday, June 26.

Later in 2022, Bow Wow will be hosting a new installment of The Millennium Tour across America along with another exciting lineup. The 24-city campaign kicks off October 7th in Hampton and continues through November visiting major markets like Detroit, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. This year's version will be joined by Mario , Keri Hilson , Lloyd , Pleasure P , Bobby V , Sammie , Ying Yang Twins , Chingy , Dem Franchize Boyz , Lil Scrappy , Travis Porter , Day 26 , Crime Mob and Trillville.

The 2021 version of The Millennium Tour was nominated for Best R&B Tour at the 33rd Pollstar Awards and was joined by Omarion , Ashanti , Pretty Ricky and Soulja Boy among many others. Back in 2019, the same tour saw Omarion reunite with former B2K members Lil' Fizz, J-Boog and Raz-B. Since its inception, the annual tour has received 2 nominations for Top R&B Tour at the Billboard Music Awards while winning Top Rap Tour in 2022.

Nearly two months after the R&B Verzuz edition , the Millenium Tour is returning this fall. Announced on Friday (Aug. 12), The Millennium Tour : Turned Up will be headlined by Bow Wow , Mario , and Keri Hilson .

Fans can get a special preview of their set during their virtual concert on August 26.

The Millennium Tour: Turned Up begins on Oct. 7 on the east coast and is scheduled to conclude on Nov. 27 on the west coast. Unfortunately, there is currently no word on whether the tour will extend internationally.

This is the first time the Millennium Tour will not have Omarion on the lineup, but based on past iterations, you never know who may pop up in select cities.

Pre-sale tickets will be available beginning Thursday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets for the general public will be available the following day at 10 a.m. local time.

Bow Wow  and  Omarion ’s Millennium Tour will return in several months.

On Friday, the artists took to social media to announce dates for the 2021 United States trek. Bow Wow and Omarion will headline the event, which will include appearances by Ashanti ,  Soulja Boy , Pretty Ricky , the  Ying Yang Twins , and more.

“We got unfinished business to handle!” wrote Bow Wow, who is gearing up for his fast-approaching Verzuz battle with Soulja Boy “….  WE OWE YOU GUYS. This what you been waiting on… lets go! We back outside!!!!!”

The Millennium Tour 2020 was supposed to kick off in Louisville, Kentucky, last February, but was postponed due to concerns over the pandemic. Most of the acts who were set to appear in last year’s tour have signed on for the 2021 trek. And, no, the other members of B2K, who headlined the 2019 tour,  are not involved this time around.

The tour will begin Oct. 1 at Los Angeles’ The Forum, and will include stops in Oakland, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Miami, before wrapping up on Nov. 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Millennium is a 21st century Nordic Noir franchise based on a book trilogy by Stieg Larsson. Most of the series takes place in Stockholm at locations open to visit.

Understand [ edit ]

The Millennium series began as a novel trilogy ( The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest ) written by journalist Stieg Larsson (1954-2004), posthumously published from 2005 to 2007. A Swedish film trilogy was released in 2009, starring Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace. An English-language remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo , starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, was released in 2011. Authorship was transferred to David Lagercrantz, who continued the series with three books (nicknamed M4 , M5 , and M6 ) released from 2015 to 2019. The first of Lagercrantz's novels, The Girl in the Spider's Web , was adapted into an English-language film starring Claire Foy, in 2018.

Prepare [ edit ]

Reading the original book trilogy is a good beginning. While the Swedish films conclude the trilogy, the American remake is visually superior; and could be considered for a first encounter to the series.

Most locations in the books are on Södermalm, or other parts of Stockholm. The films have, with a few exceptions, been shot on site. Some scenes were shot at the rundown traffic hub Slussen, which was torn down in the 2010s, and is partially shut off for construction as of 2023.

Bow Wow and Omarion have announced the new dates for “ The Millennium Tour 2021.”

The tour was originally supposed to kick off last year, but the Coronavirus pandemic caused the shows to be delayed. On Friday (June 18), the “Let Me Hold You” collaborators revealed the new dates on their respective Instagram accounts. “We got unfinished business to handle!” Bow captioned his post. “# millenniumtour 2021 Starring: Bow Wow & Omarion. With special guests Ashanti and more… get your tickets now! (1st arena tour to roll out since the pandemic) WE OWE YOU GUYS. This what you been waiting on… let’s go! We back outside!!!!!”

Bow and Omarion will be joined by Ashanti , Lloyd, Sammie, Soulja Boy, Pretty Ricky and the Ying Yang Twins. The 27-city tour is set to kick off on Oct. 1 in Los Angeles, California. They will make stops in several cities, including Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans and more. The tour will wrap up on Nov. 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fans will get a chance to see the “Shortie Like Mine” emcee perform some of his biggest hits before the tour begins during his highly anticipated Verzuz battle against Soulja Boy, which is set to go down next Saturday, June 26.

For the last few weeks, Bow and Big Draco have been playfully throwing shade at each other. Soulja offered to gift his longtime friend with one of his luxury cars if he lost the Verzuz battle.

“If you win the Verzuz , I’ll give you the pink slip to my Lambo,” the “She Make It Clap” emcee said. “I bet $100,000 that you do not got your Lambo still. I still got my same Lambo. I bought my shit cash. I own it. Stop playing with me Bow Wow. You do not got your Lambo no more!”

The  Millennium Tour  continues to evolve. Mario, Keri Hilson and Bow Wow are at the top of the bill for the  Millennium Tour: Turned Up , announced today (Aug. 12). 

Powered by G-Squared Events ,  Millennium Tour: Turned Up  will also include a special reunion of R&B group Day26, plus Lloyd, Pleasure P , Bobby V, and Sammie. The latter four acts were on the previous  Millennium Tour , as well as Mario and Bow Wow.

It won’t be a full night of R&B, though. The tour will also feature performances by rap acts Ying Yang Twins, Chingy, Dem Franchize Boyz, Lil Scrappy, Travis Porter, Crime Mob and Trillville.

The 24-city tour kicks off Oct. 7 at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia at Hampton Coliseum. From there, the crew will travel across the U.S., playing in major cities such as Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, Dallas, Memphis and Miami.

The tour will conclude Nov. 27 at Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. 

Tickets will be available for presale beginning Thursday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. local time. All tickets can be purchased at gsquaredevents.com .

Circling back to Day26, the group recently announced their reunion and plans to celebrate their 15th anniversary with new music.

On Aug. 26, they will perform a special virtual concert with all five original members.

While Day26 is reuniting, another is formalizing. Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V and Pleasure P recently announced their new group RSVP , following their bonus match during Mario and Omarion’s Verzuz battle.

Although Ray J isn’t included in the Millennium Tour: Turned Up , it wouldn’t be a surprise if the other three members preview new music.

Stieg Larsson and Millennium

The Millennium trilogy is a series of internationally famed books written by posthumously published Swedish author, Stieg Larsson.

The trilogy (read by more than 60 million last time we checked) has inspired controversy, family feuds, Hollywood movies, and has shown the world the dark side of calm and peaceful Sweden.

The Millennium Books Tour is a walking tour based on the trilogy of books The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.

You start the 2-hour tour on the island of Södermalm, at Bellmansgatan 1, the home of the main character, Mikael Blomqvist and you walk your way through key locations in the books; bars, cafés, and of course, past Lisbeth Salander’s apartment.

Also, Stockholm City Museum sells maps in their gift shop for self-guided tours.

The hangouts

If you don’t have time for a drink at restaurant  Kvarnen or a coffee at Mellqvist  on the tour, they are such local favourites, we say go back later and hang out.

Did you know?

Larsson had a tough time getting published. His manuscripts were refused by two Swedish publishers before Norstedts took a chance on him. He also tried to get published in English with not much luck until finally, a small London publisher, Christopher MacLehose, took the risk. They have never looked back.

There are three Swedish film versions of the books, starring Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander and the beloved Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist in the role of Mikael Blomqvist. The first film is titled ' Män som hatar kvinnor ' (2009).

The first Hollywood version, directed by David Fincher and starring Bond-actor Daniel Craig as well as an edgy Rooney Mara in the role as Lisbeth Salander, premiered in Stockholm in December 2011 with ' The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo '.

Taking to Instagram Friday ( August 12 ), Bow stunned his 4.7 million followers with the announcement he’s assembling Mario, Hilson, Day26, Lloyd, Pleasure P , Chingy, Lil Scrappy, Bobby V, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, and Travis Porter for the newest version of the tour dubbed “The Millennium Tour: Turned Up!”   This will be the first ‘Millennium Tour’ to not feature Omarion.

Kicking off October 7 at Hampton, Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum, the 24-date trek will venture to major North American cities like Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, New York City, and more before wrapping up in Oakland on November 27 .

The nostalgia train will keep on chugging along strong in 2019 thanks to a major reunion and tour coming from one of the early ’00s most beloved boy bands.

Billboard can exclusively reveal that  B2K is set to reunite for The Millennium Tour, which will hit the U.S. in March of next year and mark the first time the band has performed together in more than a decade. Made up of Omarion ,  Raz B , Boog (formerly J-Boog) and Fizz (formerly Lil’ Fizz), the quartet will deliver hits like “Bump Bump Bump,” “Gots Ta Be” and “Badaboom” in more than two dozen shows.

The 100 Greatest Boy Band Songs of All Time: Critics' Picks

The band will be joined by fellow R&B and hip-hop mainstays of the decade in special guests Mario ,  Ying Yang Twins , Lloyd ,  Pretty Ricky  and Chingy . The tour is produced by G-Squared Events in association with Omarion Worldwide , Hall of Fame Entertainment, and Blvd. Music.  

Riding in alongside the Backstreet Boys  and  *NSYNC ‘s  TRL era, B2K (an acronym for Boys of the new Millennium) offered a stylish and edgy take on the boy band trend in their short but impactful time together.

From first breaking onto the charts in 2001, the guys earned four top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including their No. 1 single “Bump, Bump, Bump” with P. Diddy , and saw both of their studio albums enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 , with their self-titled debut also topping the  Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart . After their 2004 disbanding around the time their cult-favorite film  You Got Served  was released, the members embarked on solo careers with Omarion going on to two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and a healthy string of hits like 2006’s “Ice Box” and 2014’s “Post to Be.”

TAMPA, FL – Said to be "a revue-style, all-killer-no-filler procession of R&B and hip-hop acts that came to prominence around the turn of the millennium," by Keith Spera of the New Orleans Times-Picayune , G2 Presents The Millennium Tour: Turned Up! , presented by G-Squared Events and The Black Promoters Collective (BPC) is back with headliners Mario , who proved he is still one to watch with this year's Verzuz, Bow Wow , a mainstay and crowd favorite, and R&B starlet Kerri Hilson performing at Tampa’s AMALIE Arena on Friday, November 18 at 8:00 p.m.

The highly coveted brand must-see tour dates will include performances by Lloyd, Pleasure P, Bobby V, Sammie, Ying Yang Twins, Dem Franchize Boyz, Crime Mob, Travis Porter, Lil Scrappy, Trillville, Chingy and the reunion of Day 26 .

THE DIVINE MISS MILLENNIUM TOUR By Ray Cooper

Bette, had finished her promotional radio/gay club tour and it was time for her next national tour to start in October.

Bette would start rehearsing for the tour in September 1999 and the tour would start in Boston on October 8th.

The first show that I saw was on October 25th, at Madison Square Garden, the night before Bette’s Hulaween party and her live show at Madison Square Garden on October 26th.

I knew that I would be seeing the show during Hulaween, but when I found out that Bette had a show the day before I just had to be there to see this new show. Just had to be there!!

The tour was sponsored by the department store Sears in North America. They ran a contest for fans to win a chance to go shopping with the group.

The entire North American leg of their “Into The Millennium” tour broke records. Tickets were sold out the same day they went on sale on August 14, 1999. It is said to have sold 765,000 tickets and the estimated gross sales were $30 million.

In Atlanta, Georgia during the show at the Georgia Done BSB performed in front of a crowd of 70,000. Which is the record for most people in attendance at the venue. The venue has since been demolished. 

Concert footage from their show in Indianapolis, IN was used for a VHS release called “For The Fans’. It was released in August 2000 through Burger King.

The tour won a Pollstar Concert Industry Award for Most Creative Stage Production.

B2K have announced the dates for their upcoming reunion tour.

Band members Omarion, ‎Lil' Fizz‎, ‎J-Boog, ‎and Raz-B‎ will be hitting the road with Mario, Pretty Ricky, Bobby V, Chingy, The Ying Yang Twins, and Lloyd from March 8 through April 28. Pre-sale begins January 4 for select cities including New York, Philadelphia, and Memphis. For other cities including Chicago, New Orleans, and Cleveland, pre-sale will begin on January 11.
