Always love Safari Motor Inn! The garden out back is our favorite!!!

The owners and operators are so friendly and helpful

The location was great, walking distance to a lot of things the store across the street Big Joshua’s had fantastic vintage items and souvenirs.

Location great for Joshua tree NP. Friendly and room was clean and comfortable. Very good budget stay.

Excellent location quiet rooms places to eat within walking distance

Clean, helpful staff, walking distance to many restaurants.

The location was excellent for going to the shops and getting something to eat and being central to going to the park in the morning. The host was helpful and even developed a map of local businesses and services which was nice. We were not there for pool weather, but the pool area and back patio are really fun. Full of kooky figurines and plants and decor. Whimsical. The room was clean "enough". Easy parking, right outside the room.

Room was very clean. Management was very friendly and helpful.

Had such a good time here. Rooms were so comfortable and the courtyard out back was lovely, especially at night. Will definitely be visiting again on our next trip!

The pricing is great and the staff is super friendly.

Clean, pleasant, bright room with open aspect front & back very adequately equipped; very pleased to have fridge, coffee maker & microwave. Friendly guy happy to give info on national park. Plenty of places to eat nearby & even a massive Walmart 10mins along the road!

This place was a perfect find! I tend to like my environments to be clean and tidy, and the room I had at this motel was super clean and spacious. The vibe was super cute and trendy, my bed had a really pretty blanket, which also added to the coziness. The bathroom appeared to be recently renovated and the tiles were clean and appealing. The owners were very kind and made sure I was comfortable during my three night stay. This is close to Joshua Tree and is really convenient if you wanted to make multiple trips. The motel has a cactus type garden out back and it was really peaceful at night. Perfect environment to look at the stars and chill. Can’t recommend this place enough!

I was in town for a friend's birthday party and art opening. Since the gallery was just a block away, I invited my friend over to swim after he finished his installation. There were three of us sitting around the pool eating pretzels and drinking iced tea, just chilling out before the event started at 7. The owners had a huge tantrum and made my friend leave because he wasn't a registered guest. There was no one else in the pool, which was very much in need of some skimming. This place is ugly, my room smelled, the towels were ragged, the carpet was foul, and the AC went off whenever I left the room. The pool area has a few sad dirty chairs, and is surrounded by high concrete walls on all sides so you can't see any desert or sunset. The walls are very thin, and I could hear people snoring on both sides of me. Definitely only stay here if nothing else is available.

Very clean, safe, all the basics one needs, and cheap ($50/night). It was a freezing night in Joshua Tree, and this quaint, local inn had exactly what I needed after a 5-hour drive. Which was warmth, shelter, a hot shower, coffee and wi-fi, in a very clean and safe environment. Ram (the owner?) was very kind, courteous and helpful. They give you a map of the town, coupons for 10-20% discounts off local eateries. The inn has its own charm, with a quaint central courtyard containing desert plants and little artistic statues scattered around.

Convenient and cheap ($50) road side motel with no frills. It's clean, has a mini fridge, coffee maker and wall hair dryer. Shower is low pressure but hot. Wall AC units are not super effective to be honest. Walking into a 100 degree room at 8pm meant it never really cooled down by sunrise when it started heating up again.

I liked this place because of it's location and friendly staff. The manager was very accommodating and gracious. Nice people can make an ok place much better. There is a big pool you can jump into after a long day of hot hiking and our room had a fridge, microwave and tv. As several complainers have pointed out, the decor is outdated, but really, why would anyone care about that at all? If you're making a trip to Joshua Tree to be wowed by a $50 per night motel room, then you are out of luck. However, chances are you are hard to please and a chronic complainer anyway. If you're making the trip to see some beautiful desert scenery and sleep in a decent bed at a motel manned by respectful and accommodating people, then Safari Motor Inn is a great place to be.

We have been here 4 nights and couldn't ask for anything better. Spotlessly clean, room is comfortable and plumbing works great. Very friendly and helpful couple run it. Great location - easy walk to variety of good restaurants and saloon and the Joshua Tree Visitors Center. Ask for a room away from the main road. The road noise didn't bother us. Quiet fellow guests. Nice little cactus garden out back. Fridge, coffee maker and microwave in room. Very affordable. Would definitely stay here again.

Don't stay here. We were bothered by the owners at all hours of the night. And I think I got atheletes foot from the tub.

The price and location is great but oh wow do you get what you pay for. The owners, Ravi and his wife, upon greeting you, treat you like you've wronged them from the get go. I booked a room online, months in advance. When we checked in, Ravi told me how cheap a price I had paid and how it wasn't good for his business. I booked the room off the hotel website and just paid whatever price THEY set for the room so Im not sure how it was me that had done him wrong. Then he told me that since I had booked a room w a queen bed but he only had a room w two queen beds, which apparently is a "nicer" room, that I could only use one of the beds in the room...WHAT?!?!? I booked a room. Thats it. I paid the price they set on their website. I didn't reserve "a bed". This place isn't a hostel. When you book a room, you get the room...not just ONE bed bc they're pissed they only had a two bedroom left to put you in. Without telling me, they then went and charged my credit card extra so that they could get paid the price of the room THEY put me in instead of the price I had booked online. I didn't realize this until after I had check out and checked my bank account. When I called them about it they started to say things like "if you cant afford it then I guess we'll pay it back" and then tried to guilt me by saying how they work 16 hour days, etc. For me, it wasn't the money but the principle. I had booked a room on their website. I would have been fine with whatever room they put me in. But apparently since the only room that was left when I checked in was a "nicer" room...somehow I was the one at fault and needed to pay. I did not at all appreciate how they secretly tried to get more money out of me but charging my card and sadly this was not the end to their rudeness. I will not only never stay here again, i will warn fellow Joshua tree goers to stay away. I have never in my life met such confrontational, pissed off business owners. Im sure its tough running a family owned hotel but whatever wronged them in the past, it wasnt me

We were having some work done in our new home and needed an inexpensive place to stay for a few days. The Safari Motor Inn fit the bill. No, it's nothing fancy but it's immaculately clean, the bed is comfortable, and the rooms are a good size and nicely equipped with a large flat screen TV, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There's also a table and chairs so you can sit and have meals in your room. Oh, and very importantly, they have free WiFi. The bathroom is pretty small and shower-only but that wasn't an issue for us. The most important thing for me when it comes to motel bathrooms is cleanliness and this one was spotless. The air conditioner also did a great job keeping the room cool, though, like most wall units, it wasn't exactly quiet. Our room had two doors: the main door leading to the parking lot and an interior door leading to a quaint courtyard. The Safari Motor Inn also has an outdoor pool but we didn't get a chance to use it as we weren't there on vacation. For the price, this place is a great deal. The owner and staff are very nice and helpful also and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

This place is terrible. The owners are nuts (there are security cameras literally EVERYWHERE - obviously placed to monitor guests). The rooms are funky - I don't know why people say they are "clean", our room smelled like bad air freshener. There are a LOT of better spots to stay in J-Tree, this place may be cheap, but you get what you pay for.
