Furthermore, in Q3FY21, the Tata Motors PV business posted its highest sales in the last 33 quarters. The rising demand can be attributed to the BS6 range, which was launched last year, under the New Forever philosophy of the company. Pick from popular cities, tata safari facelift: new spy shots show fresh design cues.
Along with Safari, the Harrier is also due a facelift with similar updates, and both SUVs are expected to launch in October.

Tata Motors has begun testing the majorly updated Safari that’s due later this year, and camouflaged test mules have been spotted on our roads once again . The upcoming Tata Safari facelift will take design inspiration from the Harrier EV concept that was previewed at Auto Expo earlier this year. A majorly overhauled interior along with a new turbo-petrol engine under the hood is also expected to be on the cards.
- Safari facelift to borrow design cues from Harrier EV concept
- New 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine could join the line-up at a later stage
- Price announcement expected around Diwali this year
Tata Safari facelift exterior design updates
With the facelift, the Tata Safari will have a completely redesigned front fascia. It will retain a split LED headlamp set-up, but the upper LED DRL will be a full-width light bar stretching across the bonnet. Meanwhile, the main headlamp cluster in the bumper below is now vertically positioned with a new trapezoidal shape. This means the bumper itself has been completely redesigned, while the grille gets new horizontal slats.
There aren’t major changes in profile, however, the Safari facelift can be seen with camouflaged wheels, which means there could be a new design for the alloys. At the rear, the SUV will likely get slimmer and connected LED tail-lamps, and a slightly tweaked rear bumper. These design updates will also make it to the ICE-powered Harrier facelift that’s also due later this year.
Tata Safari facelift interior and features
Although the interior of the Safari facelift has not been spied yet, we expect a major overhaul there too. Tata has already introduced the new 10.25-inch touchscreen on the Harrier and Safari with the Red Dark Edition , but we expect a few more changes to the dashboard design as well. Perhaps the new two-spoke steering wheel that was recently seen on the Nexon facelift test mule could also make it to the Safari facelift.
Tata Safari facelift powertrain
The Safari facelift will continue to be powered by its 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 170hp and 350Nm of torque, mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. Tata's new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which is currently under development could join the line-up at a later stage.
Tata Safari facelift production, launch plan
As we recently reported, Tata Motors will start production of the Safari facelift at its Pimpri plant from September 2023, and a market launch could be expected by October 2023, just before Diwali. Upon launch, it will continue its rivalry with the likes of the 7-seat Mahindra XUV700 , and the Hyundai Alcazar .

Engine and Performance
The 2023 avatar of the Tata Safari retains the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. This motor meets BS6 Phase 2 emissions standards and produces 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The automatic transmission still works very well, with the shifts that remain quick, smooth, and in sync with the engine’s characteristics and power delivery. There is enough torque for pulling from low speeds, and the transmission's responsiveness to both upshifts and downshifts makes the driving experience enjoyable. It also gets paddle shifters, and they respond well, making the driving experience more engaging.
The Eco, City, and Sport driving modes remain unchanged, offering responsive throttle inputs. The Safari has sufficient load-carrying and people-hauling capabilities in both urban and highway settings, and it can overtake effortlessly despite its size and weight. This Tata SUV remains planted and stable at triple-digit speeds, and its performance is not compromised despite being larger and heavier than the Harrier. The terrain mode selector, which efficiently alters the response through software maps, has been retained too. However, some off-road enthusiasts may argue that all-wheel drive (AWD) would have made the SUV more capable in hilly regions and slippery conditions. Nonetheless, our experience suggests that the Safari can tackle trails and rough terrain with poise for the most part.
Ride and Handling
The Safari's high ground clearance, tall stance, and well-tuned suspension allow it to effortlessly absorb bumps, potholes, and ruts on broken roads. Occupants are not unsettled, and there is minimal noise inside the cabin — whether driving at low or high speeds. Its robust build quality and Land Rover underpinnings are evident in its ride and handling.
Previous Safari owners complained about the heavy hydraulic steering, but the new electronic power steering has addressed this issue. It feels lighter at low speeds but adds weight as the speed increases, as is also noticeable in the Sport mode. The ADAS, meanwhile, is not intrusive and gently guides the car back into the marked lane if it starts to veer off. Then, all the disc brakes provide good stopping power and work well with the emergency automatic braking system. Overall, both systems functioned flawlessly, with the adaptive cruise control responding to commands instantly.
Exterior Design
Despite being a facelift, the new model has been significantly redesigned, giving it a concept-like appearance and a more upmarket feel than its predecessor. The new single grille is unique, with accents that match the exterior body colour on this version. The connected LED bar is a welcome addition, and the new squared-off headlamp housings on the re-sculpted bumper further distinguish it from the previous model.
Moreover, the new 19-inch wheels have an attractive design similar to the Sierra concept's wheels showcased at this year's Auto Expo. The rear section has been updated with tweaked taillights and a new LED bar that gets the welcome and goodbye animation in line with the front. There's also a faux skid plate on the redesigned bumper with vertically stacked reflectors and reverse light housing.
Interior and Features
The interior has also been updated, but the overall design remains largely unchanged. The most noticeable change is the new steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, which was first seen on the new Nexon. Tata has also addressed our previous criticism of this new steering’s horn placement, which was awkward and difficult to use. The horn has now been repositioned and is more responsive to inputs.
The new Safari also features touch controls for the AC. Other major updates to the dashboard include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a fully digital instrument cluster. The latter gets readable fonts, fast response time, and high customisability, and is packed with information, including ADAS. The touchscreen is also highly responsive and has a clean UI, but it lacks haptic feedback and knobs for quick control.
The seating layout remains unchanged, with ample space in all rows. However, a major improvement that elevates its interior's premium feel is the high-quality materials used for the upholstery, dashboard, and most surfaces. Nothing feels cheap or out of place, and the cabin remains robust. The Safari has been known for its 'boss mode', and it continues to offer a laid-back seating position with power adjustments. The seats also get adjustable headrests for enhanced comfort. To further delight passengers, ventilated seats are now available in both rows, which will be a blessing in our hot and humid climate.
The carmaker has also taken the safety aspect up a notch. For example, all variants/personas now come standard with six airbags, while the top-spec version gets an additional driver's knee airbag. In addition, the Safari gets a 360-degree camera and a host of ADAS features, including new ones like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, high beam assist, lane change alert, and lane departure warning. Other ADAS features include door open alert, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, other important safety features include rear collision warning, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking, which worked effectively. The SUV also gets disc brakes on all four wheels.
The new Safari is also equipped with a new e-call feature for emergency assistance. With a touch of a button, the breakdown call can notify the roadside assistance service. Other impressive tech features that worked flawlessly include the new TFT cluster, terrain mode selector with TFT screen, audio controls compatible with Alexa, powered tailgate opening, and the connected car experience. Finally, whether you choose the six- or seven-seater version, every variant, from the entry-level Smart to the top-spec Accomplished+, offers a good variety of exterior colour options and material choices.
Tata Motors wants to broaden the appeal of the new Safari with a wider range of exterior colours, including a segment-first dual-tone option, and a plethora of new features. The Safari retains its macho appearance, making it a symbol of authority while offering a premium and spacious cabin. Prospective buyers also get new technology and added connectivity, all while cocooned in safety. Tata Motors also has kept the premium reasonable, making the new Safari an easy choice for buyers, given its many appealing features.

iOS 18 May Feature All-New 'Safari Browsing Assistant'
iOS 18 will apparently feature a new Safari browsing assistant, according to backend code on Apple's servers discovered by Nicolás Álvarez . MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris confirmed that the code exists, but not many details are known at this time.
Update: Álvarez has since said that iCloud Private Relay might not be related to this feature.
A browsing assistant in Safari could be one of the many new generative AI features that are rumored to be coming to the iPhone with iOS 18 later this year. There are already multiple iPhone web browsers with AI tools, such as Microsoft Edge with a GPT-4-powered Copilot and Arc Search , which can summarize web pages to provide concise information.
Álvarez also uncovered a so-called "Encrypted Visual Search" feature in the backend code on Apple's servers, but no specific details are known. MacRumors contributor Steve Moser last year discovered a new Visual Search feature for Apple's Vision Pro headset in visionOS beta code, which would allow users to copy and paste printed text from the real world into apps and more, but the feature has yet to launch. It is possible that Apple is planning to debut a more secure version of the feature. However, the code could also relate to the iPhone's existing Visual Look Up feature that can identify objects in photos and videos.
Apple is set to unveil iOS 18 during its WWDC keynote on June 10 , so we should learn more about these potential new features in a few more months.

When will Apple release the new iPad Pro? Here are the latest rumors
Apple’s new iPad Pro models are highly-anticipated and have been described as the biggest update to the devices since 2018. Over the last several weeks, we’ve gotten a lot of questions about when these new iPad Pros will actually be released. Here’s everything we know…
When to expect new iPad Pros
At first, the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models were expected to launch sometime in March or April. Apple, however, has reportedly faced a number of development and production issues that have delayed that launch.
According to a supply chain report this week, the launch of the new iPads has been “repeatedly postponed.” The delays have reportedly stemmed from both hardware and software bottlenecks. The new iPad Pro and iPad Air models will ship with iPadOS 17.4, and Apple has hit roadblocks in finalizing this software update.
Additionally, the new iPad Pros will feature OLED screens that are unlike anything Apple has ever produced before. These displays require new manufacturing techniques that have reportedly contributed to the delays.
Most recently, Bloomberg reported that the new iPad Pro and iPad Air will launch sometime in “early May.” In particular, he expects a launch during the week of May 6.
Analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants said in a report that the new iPad Pro models will begin shipping from Apple’s supply chain this month – in time for a May launch. According to Young, production of the 11-inch iPad Pro is lagging behind the 12.9-inch model , suggesting it could be hard to find when it launches.
Finally, a handful of new iPad model identifiers have surfaced in regulatory filings this month. This process generally happens in the weeks leading up to a new product being released to market.
9to5Mac’s Take
With all of that said, one thing is clear: new iPad Pros are coming, and they’re coming soon…just not as soon as many people might have hoped. iPad fans might be waiting a little bit longer than they’d like, but all signs point to a launch within the next several weeks.
The new iPad Pros will feature OLED screens, a significantly thinner design, upgraded performance with an M3 chip, a new Magic Keyboard accessory, and more. Check out our full roundup for details on everything to expect .

New iPad launch windows revealed, from Mini to Pro and beyond
Published on April 7, 2024
- The new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Magic Keyboard, and Apple Pencil will reportedly launch in early May.
- It’s also believed that a new iPad Mini and base iPad are in the works and could launch as soon as the end of the year.
We’ve heard murmurings about new iPads for a while now, as reports point to refreshed iPad Air and iPad Pro models in Spring 2024. Fortunately, a reliable source has now given us a more specific launch window.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman noted in his Power On newsletter that the new iPads are coming in early May. More specifically, Gurman’s source says the launch will “probably” happen during the week of May 6. So we’ve got almost exactly a month to wait for these new devices.
It’s believed that Apple will reveal a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Magic Keyboard, and Apple Pencil. Gurman previously claimed that the new iPad Pro will pack an M3 chip, MagSafe wireless charging, and OLED screens (in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes). The addition of OLED tech could reportedly result in more expensive price tags.
Don’t want to splash out on the iPad Air or iPad Pro? Well, Gurman also claims that Apple is working on new versions of the base iPad and iPad Mini. Unfortunately, these devices might not be available until the end of the year “at the earliest.”
The journalist further notes that the new base iPad could be a “cost-reduced” version of 2022’s 10th-generation model. Meanwhile, the new iPad Mini could gain a new processor and little else.
