Tennis World Tour 2 – Reviews

Nintendo switch pc playstation 4 playstation 5 xbox series x xbox one.

tennis world tour 2 switch

  • 6.8 User Score Based on 4 user reviews.
  • 55 God is a Geek Tennis World Tour 2 on the Nintendo Switch is a decent enough game, but some of the visuals suffer with the lower resolution.
  • 65 Jeuxvideo.com A nice surprise that does not make it a must-have, but a title that is still worth a look as long as you are running out of little yellow balls on your console.
  • 40 Nintendo Life Tennis World Tour 2 is a simulation style affair that demands much from its players but doesn't reciprocate with a game that's capable of matching their efforts. Flaky AI and a lack of basic player animations leads to core gameplay here that feels rough and unsatisfying for the most part. Matches often descend into a procession of double faults, there's absolutely zero net play, and no matter how much practice you put in, things always feel like they're out of your control. There is a decent selection of modes here and the fundamental ideas behind the gameplay could have made for a good time, but a lack of finesse in how these things have been implemented mean this one is best avoided by all but the most foolhardy of tennis fans.
  • 60 Pure Nintendo Tennis World Tour 2 is a complex sports sim that features some real nuances of playing tennis. Unfortunately, that results in convoluted controls with little instruction on how to use them. It’ll keep hard-core sports gamers busy for a while, but is not a very good option for casual tennis fans.
  • 7.6 User Score Based on 54 user reviews.
  • 76 Multiplayer.it Tennis World Tour 2 aims high, given the good work done by Big Ant Studios with AO Tennis 2. However despite the new graphics engine, the game does not excel on a visual level but still remains a fun and enjoyable title and for this reason we feel confident for the continuation of the franchise and videogame tennis.
  • 62 SpazioGames Tennis World Tour 2 fails to improve the series and remains very far from the heights reached by Top Spin 4.
  • 68 The Games Machine Tennis World Tour 2 improves upon its disastrous predecessor, but cannot completely make us forget its flaws because it’s based on the same creaky structure. It can be fun, but you shouldn’t expect perfection.
  • 60 Wccftech Tennis World Tour 2 is an undeniable improvement on the original release and it's also arguably a great tennis game for those who can get into it. Aesthetically, it looks good from afar, with fluid animations and speed that honestly gives the feel of a tennis match and features a wide number of game modes, giving you a lot to play through. The problem, however, is that the core game mechanics are inaccessible and unapproachable, offering no settings to reduce the reliance of awfully specific precision-based button pressing which can ruin the core career mode. A mixed bag, this will appeal for fans of tennis, but the opaque nature of the gameplay makes it too hard to recommend.
  • 5.8 User Score Based on 4 user reviews.
  • 50 Daily Star Developer Big Ant Studios claim this is “the most comprehensive tennis experience” but sadly when it comes to gameplay it’s more Queens than Wimbledon.
  • 40 Finger Guns Early impressions are poor and don’t really get any better from there. Tennis World Tour 2 – Complete Edition is a sterile, sluggish experience from start to finish, and has little in the way of reason to stick with it long-term. If you absolutely must play a tennis game, you might need to dig an older console out of the cupboard. Avoid.
  • 55 MGG Spain The biggest problem for Tennis World Tour 2 isi ts lack of identity. It wants to be many things and end up being none. And it is a shame, since it wastes the licenses of famous tennis players with an experience that finds it difficult to be fun. In addition, this next-generation version does not offer worthy technical improvements.
  • 50 Screen Rant The overall experience in this port has improved slightly compared to its predecessor on older consoles but it is still noticeably lacking in terms of its gameplay. Anyone who has already bought the previous version probably won’t find enough in this enhanced edition to justify a second purchase, though, for anyone who is desperate to play a tennis game, Tennis World Tour 2 - Complete Edition might just about scratch that itch. However, the game still doesn't provide the level of gameplay tennis fans want out of a video game, and even if it looks better, its content struggles and mechanical shortcomings remain a deterrent.
  • 2.8 User Score Based on 19 user reviews.
  • 60 GameOver.gr Tennis World Tour 2 Complete Edition offers minor improvements, but it still remains a game not suited for casuals. Hardcore fans on the other hand will likely spend many hours with the game and will appreciate the new arenas, international tournaments, added players and gear that this edition brings to the table.
  • 60 GameSpew On the whole, there are enough changes for the better to elevate Tennis World Tour 2 from being a sub-par to a decent tennis game. Graphically it’s still not going to wow players, and there’s still some work to be done on the animation and AI side if Tennis World Tour 3 ever comes to fruition, but Tennis World Tour 2 is at least now somewhat enjoyable. Throw in a considerable amount of extra content and next-gen consoles not only now have their first tennis game, but also one that’s worth considering.
  • 60 GamingTrend Tennis World Tour 2 on the PlayStation 5 is the definitive way to experience this realistic simulation title. While it does have quite a few flaws considering the package, there’s still a lot to love for those looking for a tennis game with a learning curve.
  • 70 Push Square New arenas, and the addition of international tournaments like the ATP Cup, complement existing events like the French Open making for a much more complete overall tennis experience than before. We’re still not particularly fond of the cards system, which allows you to assemble decks of stat-boosting skills to play at opportune moments, although we understand the title’s intent of capturing those superhuman feats real-world players seem capable of when under the kosh. The vastly improved loading times do massively improve the flow of the release, while the overall image quality makes the many arenas a lot more visually appealing.
  • 6.2 User Score Based on 95 user reviews.
  • 57 COGconnected Tennis World Tour 2 lacks focus and due to this, the game lingers in mediocrity. With inconsistent AI, a harsh timing mechanic paired with a stat-boosting card system, the game will turn away both hardcore and casual fans. Unfortunately, this is a double fault for the Tennis World Tour franchise.
  • 50 Cubed3 Tennis fans are so limited these days, and Tennis World Tour 2 does not deliver enough to consider it a great game. Too many graphical glitches, inconsistencies across the board in terms of gameplay and the wider matchday details, copy-pasted player physiques and complete lack of personalised shots, a shoehorned mid-match card feature that only distracts - oh, and locking major tournaments and courts behind day one DLC are just some of the reasons Big Ant Studios double faults with this one. With more time, care, and no doubt a bigger budget, something decent could arise, because the makings are there, but patches might not be enough, and focus now might be better spent on a hopeful third game.
  • 60 JeuxActu Tennis World Tour 2 has come a long way from the previous opus, with the use of timing-based gameplay. Lots of it is still wrong, from the ball physics to the way players slide on the ground, but the improvement is so massive that we're actually expecting to see a Tennis World Tour 3.
  • 30 KeenGamer Tennis World Tour 2 is a game that could have been something special but holds itself back with its gameplay. In contrast, I was impressed with the menu's overall layout, the music that played as I got ready, and the speedy load times; all of that went away as soon as I had to start actually playing the game. One can hope that future tennis games will find the perfect balance between capturing the essence of the sport and providing fun gameplay to the consumer at home, but Tennis World Tour 2 could not do either.
  • 7.8 User Score Based on 58 user reviews.
  • 50 Forbes TWT2 feels unfinished, underdeveloped and somewhat soulless in some aspects. The swing mechanic might be a good idea conceptually, but it falls short of supplying that satisfaction that is transferred from simply hitting the ball in a tennis video game. Couple that with the malnourished feature set and you have one of the most disappointing tennis video games in a long while.
  • 80 GamingBolt Tennis World Tour 2 has some good ideas on paper, but never gels into a cohesive whole.
  • 71 SomosXbox Tennis World Tour 2 has changed the formula of the fist game, going somewhat more realistic, and it feels better. But it couldn't be enough. Graphics or the lack of game modes are below the rest of the concept. In the same way, some options, like cards, doesn't feel accurate, or valid, when it is trying to be more realistic. It could be enough for now, but the fans of tennis still remember games like Top Spin or Virtua Tennis, as the best games in this discipline. Maybe they deserve something better, perhaps for the next time.
  • 50 TheXboxHub The old glory days of TopSpin offered some of the best tennis we’ve ever had the joy of trying. Many have attempted to emulate its success but none have succeeded. Whilst the original Tennis World Tour had some good points and focused on some nice areas, it fell flat instantly with janky controls and just a general carelessness. Its follow-up, Tennis World Tour 2, attempts to fix this, but fails in many of the same areas.
