Back for his final outing as the Travel Man, Richard Ayoade dashes to Dubrovnik with comedy colossus Stephen Merchant.

This time, Richard is joined by comedian Lee Mack for a funny, yet surprisingly informative, 48 hours in Brussels - featuring culture, comics, pralines, puppets and attractions both large and small, including the Grand Place and the famous atom-shaped Atomium. There's also waffles, mussels - including Moules Genghis Khan - and the secrets of chocolate making.

Richard is joined by actor Fay Ripley for a wintry mini-break in Oslo. Together they pack two days with sledging, screaming, skiing, sculpture and scoff.

Richard Ayoade is joined by comic actor and writer Robert Webb - the destination Madeira. Together they seek to discover more than the Portuguese island's eponymous wine and cake, although both are sampled along the way. Madeira is famed for its bananas and for the culinary bravado of combining them with fish.

Richard Ayoade is joined by comedian Shazia Mirza for a fancy two day detour on the Côte d'Azur, in the south of France. In Nice they hire a three-wheeled 'Nice Car' for a scenic tour of the city. They also scope out Cap Ferrat, blue art, fancy yachts, and a grotto in Monaco. Later, there's a pricey helicopter ride and a trip to the casino - in a bid to win back the budget overspend on the helicopter.

In an hour-long Christmas extravaganza, Richard and Mad Men actor Jon Hamm tour Hong Kong, taking in a tai chi drop-in session, a ride in a chopper and some fusion dim sum.

Richard is joined by Matt Lucas, actor, comedian and many other things besides, for a frenetic 48 hours in the eternal city, Rome. Over a packed duo of days they cram in culture, cuisine, history, hats and as many sights as they can see.

Together they ruthlessly examine Spain's third largest city, taking in its history, parks, architecture, culture and cuisine, as well as falling under the powerful spell of local cocktail agua de Valencia.

Richard Ayoade takes his desert-dry snark to France, staying at l’Hotel, the opulent site of Oscar Wilde’s death. Leaving that shrine to Left Bank literary chic, he heads for the Montparnasse tower to look at the Eiffel tower, before going on a scooter tour, eating calf’s head casserole, drinking absinthe and learning about cordon bleu cookery, fine art and bespoke perfume. Trying not to simply stand there helpless with laughter as Ayoade relentlessly undermines his own enterprise is this week’s companion, Mel Giedroyc. Jack Seale

‘Travel Man’: Why You Should Be Watching This Delightful British Series

Ever wonder what it’s like to journey to Paris for the weekend, or even Marrakesh? Well, you can find out by tuning into the delightful British travel series, Travel Man , which airs on the UK’s Channel 4, and is now streaming on Hulu.

Currently there are 7 seasons available with 34 episodes ripe for your bingeing pleasure. Travel Man is hosted by Richard Ayoade, the former It Crowd star who is widely popular over in Britain, as he invites famous pals to accompany him in each 23-minute episode — with the exception of two double-length holiday installments.

Why 'The Chef Show' Is Your Next Feel Good Binge

Every episode features a new city, new activities and much more, and Ayoade’s travel companions have ranged from Chris O’Dowd , Paul Rudd and Jon Hamm to Rebel Wilson and Lena Dunham . Most of his guests are directly from his neck of the woods, so their star power may be lost on some viewers less familiar with the Brits.

Premiering in 2015, the series is an offshoot format of another program Ayoade hosted — Gadget Man . The comedian, actor, director, writer and TV host also hosts Britain’s popular game show The Crystal Maze , and that’s where I initially noted Ayoade’s quick humor.

After researching the game show ahead of its Nickelodeon release this year with American host  Adam Conover , a coworker suggested I check out  Travel Man for more hilarious banter. And there certainly is plenty of it for viewers to enjoy as the subjects eat up the sights and sounds of cities such as Brussels, Ibiza, Hong Kong, Miami, Moscow, Paris, Florence, Valencia and Dubai to name a few.

Along with sharing travel costs, from flight and hotel to transport in the city, this series is user-friendly and makes you really consider the possibilities of exploring travel options, especially when they’re calculated for a comfortable two-day time period. As well as visiting and admiring the most popular sights and locations in featured cities, Ayoade and his guests often partake in various excursions, meals, and tours that aren’t always conventional.

One particularly hilarious adventure included Ayoade and comedian Sara Pascoe’s time in Valencia, Spain where they visited the City of Arts and Sciences’ cultural and architectural complex (this also happens to be a filming location for the upcoming third season of Westworld ). While there, they partook in a brief time encased in giant plastic bubbles as they floated on the water feature.

The activity — which is called zorbing — will have you in hysterics as they try to right themselves in the unstable capsule. “Have you zorbed before?” Richard asks Sara.

“I never have, have you? Are you into it?” Sara asks in return.

As Ayoade answers, he says, “For a claustrophobic, it’s a dream” — just a small taste of his sarcastic sense of humor. While that’s just one excursion taken, others that can be seen in accompanying episodes are museum tours, ice skating, sledding, whale watching, gladiator class, cooking classes and more.

French police cordoned off the Iranian consulate in Paris on Friday following reports that a man was threatening to blow himself up there.

A police source told Reuters the man was seen at about 11 am (0900 GMT) entering the consulate, carrying what appeared to be a grenade and explosive vest.

Police said they were at the scene and asked the public to avoid the area but provided no further details.

Service was interrupted on a nearby metro line for security reasons, the RATP metro company said.

A person at the Iranian embassy who responded to a call from Reuters declined to provide any information on the situation.

It was unclear whether the incident had any link to the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel .

Earlier on Friday, explosions echoed over the Iranian city of Isfahan in what sources described as an Israeli attack , but Tehran played down the incident and indicated it had no plans for retaliation - a response that appeared gauged towards averting region-wide war.
