Payday at Tiburon

Here's the record prize money payout for each golfer at the 2023 CME Group Tour Championship

1441750337

Michael Reaves

There was something extra intriguing about Wednesday’s announcement that the CME Group had signed a new two-year deal with the LPGA that lets it continue as the title sponsor of the season-ending Tour Championship. In returning for 2024 and 2025, CME will also be infusing a tournament that already boasted the richest first-place prize money payout in women’s golf with an even greater payday .

Starting next year, the field at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla., will be playing for $11 million overall, with the champion earning $4 million—the biggest winner’s payday in all of women’s sports. (Yes, not just golf, but all sports.) Suffice it to say. if players didn’t already have an incentive to be among the top 60 in the Race to the CME points list and qualify to play in the CME before …

All that said, there was a whole lot of loot being offered this week, too. With an overall purse of $7 million, and $2 million going to the last woman standing come Sunday—34-year-old Amy Yang shooting a closing 66 to claim her fifth career win but first since 2019 and first in the United States—the LPGA’s season finale was a lucrative four days for the eventual champion.

Yang, playing in her 16th year on tour, took control of the tournament in the final round when she holed out for eagle on the 13th hole, pulling away from runners-up Nasa Hataoka and Alison Lee to win by three shots.

She finished with a 27-under 262 total and became just the second player (along with Ashleigh Buhai) older than 30 to win on tour in 2023.

And if you need a reminder of just how much consider where this tournament was a few years ago. During its first year at the CME Group Titleholders in 2011, the overall purse was $1.5 million with the winner claiming $500,000. And here’s how it has evolved over time:

2013: $2 million/$700,000

2017: $2.5 million/$500,000

2019: $5 million/$1.5 million

2022: $7 million/$2 million

Here’s the prize money payout for every golfer in the field in this no-cut event. Come back shortly after the end of the tournament and we’ll update this with individual names and prize money money.

2024 Valspar Championship money: Purse, payout breakdown, winner’s share

Keith Mitchell holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Valspar Championship.

Getty Images

Sunday could be a big day for Keith Mitchell. The 32-year-old took the lead at the Valspar Championship in dramatic fashion on Saturday, holing out from the fairway on the 18th hole for eagle to claim a two-shot advantage heading into the final round.

A win at Innisbrook’s Copperhead course would mark the second of Mitchell’s career, following his 2019 victory at the Honda Classic. And, it would come with a sweet payday: $1.512 million of an $8.4 million purse.

But Mitchell’s chasers aren’t going to make it easy for him. Two-time PGA Tour winner Mackenzie Hughes is only two shots back, and 11 other players are within four shots of Mitchell’s lead at 10 under, including Cameron Young and Brendon Todd (-7) and Adam Hadwin (-6).

2024 Valero Texas Open one and done picks, sleepers, field: PGA Tour predictions, expert golf betting advice

T he PGA Tour schedule continues this week in the Lone Star State with the 2024 Valero Texas Open set to tee off on Thursday at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. Several big name players will be in the 2024 Valero Texas Open field and looking to make their final preparations for the 2024 Masters. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is the 15-2 betting favorite in the latest 2024 Valero Texas Open odds. Other top contenders in the field include Ludvig Åberg (12-1), Hideki Matsuyama (18-1), Max Homa (18-1), Jordan Spieth (18-1), Collin Morikawa (20-1), Corey Conners (22-1), and Matt Fitzpatrick (25-1). The 2024 Valero Texas Open purse is $9.2 million, with the winner taking home $1.66 million. The winner of this event will earn 500 FedEx Cup points.

With several players making their final push in their Masters preparation, would this be a good week to fade the betting favorites in One and Done pools? Or would Conners, who has won this tournament twice in four years, be a better play? Before locking in your 2024 Valero Texas Open one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say .

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors, signature events, and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his  golf picks .

McClure has been on fire with his One and Done picks in 2024. At The American Express he backed Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure tabbed Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event, as his top OAD pick. At the Cognizant Classic, McClure's top one and done pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place. Finally, at the Arnold Palmer Invitation, another signature event, McClure recommended using Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. The Result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

His hot steak continued at the Players Championship, where McClure again recommended using Scheffler (if was still available) and Xander Schauffele. Both players were in contention until the end, with Scheffler coming out with the win and Schauffele finishing in second place. Then, at the Valspar Championship, McClure recommended using Cameron Young, who finished in second place, in OAD pools.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the Valero Texas Open golf tournament and just locked in his one and done picks and PGA predictions. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool. You can only see McClure's Valero Texas Open 2024 one and done picks at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Valero Texas Open One and Done picks

One of McClure's favorite One and Done plays this week for the Texas Open is PGA Tour veteran Hideki Matsuyama. The 2021 Masters champion has played well in 2024, notching an outright win at The Genesis Invitational followed by a 12th place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a sixth place finish at The Players Championship. Matsuyama enters the week with nine career PGA Tour wins.

The 32-year-old has climbed to No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking and is a threat to win any tournament he enters. Matsuyama enters this week ranked first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained around the green (0.674), fourth in strokes gained tee-to-green (1.360), and 15th in total strokes gained (0.981). With the Valero Texas Open field being deep and full of elite talent, McClure expects Matsuyama to be in top form.  You can see who else to back at SportsLine .

How to make Valero Texas Open 2024 One and Done picks

McClure is also targeting another golfer for his 2024 Valero Texas Open one and done picks who has a long track record of success against elite competition. This former major championship winner has the ability to win any tournament he enters, and is one of the most talented golfers in this field. You can find out who it is, and check out all of McClure's Valero Texas Open one and done picks at SportsLine .

Houston Open payout distribution 2024: Prize money, purse

What is the prize money on the line at Memorial Park for the 2024 Houston Open?

By Cody Williams | Mar 31, 2024

Texas Children's Houston Open - Final Round

The predominant narrative coming into the 2024 Houston Open was, naturally, about the No. 1-ranked player in golf, Scottie Scheffler. Not only was he the heavy favorite for this week's PGA Tour event, but he was looking for his third straight win this season after capturing victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship.

After the first three rounds of action, Scheffler entered Sunday's final round in great position to accomplish the historic feat, sitting tied for the lead after 54 holes. But it was a logjam atop the Houston Open leaderboard coming into the final round with chasers like Thomas Detry, David Skinns, Alejandro Tosti, Stephan Jaeger, Taylor Moore and Akshay Bhatia, among others, all trying to overtake the World No. 1 for a crucial PGA Tour win.

They were all also vying for the biggest share of the Houston Open purse by earning a nice prize money payout for the week. How much money were they playing for this week, though? We have it all broken down with a full payout distribution and everything you need to know.

Houston Open purse 2024: Winner's prize money, total purse

The winner of the 2024 Houston Open will take home $1.638 million in prize money this week on the PGA Tour while also winning a standard non-signature event prize of 500 FedEx Cup points. The total purse at the Houston Open in the 2024 season is set at $9.1 million this year, which is an increase from the last time the tournament was played in the fall of 2022. It may not be the same money we saw at the API or THE PLAYERS or that we will see at The Masters , but it's still a nice haul for a week's work on the golf course.

Houston Open payout distribution by finishing position in 2024

Here's a look at the full 2024 Houston Open payout distribution for every finishing position, all the way from the winner's prize money of $1.638 million to the 83rd and final player to make the cut and play the weekend, who will take home $16,289.

The winner of the Houston Open is the only player who will take home seven figures in prize money this week, but all of the Top 22 finishers at Memorial Park will clear the six-figure mark this week on the PGA Tour.

There were a ton of players who made the cut as 83 players were tied for 65th or better after the first two rounds, which stretches out the purse for this tournament a bit at the bottom of the finishing positions. Even still, though, it's a fine payday for a good four days of golf, especially for those who didn't finish strong and stayed at the bottom of the leaderboard.

2024 Texas Open odds, field: Surprising PGA picks, predictions by golf model that's called 10 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the valero texas open 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks.

ludvig-aberg-pga-golf-usatsi.jpg

Major play is just around the corner, but first is a stop at the 2024 Valero Texas Open beginning on Thursday morning at TPC San Antonio. While a pre-major field is often watered down to some extent, the Texas Open features a solid entry list headlined by Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama and rising star Ludvig Aberg. Corey Conners, J.J. Spaun and Spieth are the past three champions, while Matt Kuchar is an intriguing name to consider after he finished inside the top three in his last two appearances at this event.

The first tee times come at 8:20 a.m. ET. McIlroy is the 15-2 favorite in the 2024 Texas Open odds, followed by Aberg at 12-1. Matsuyama, Spieth and Homa are all 18-1. Kuchar is a huge longshot at 120-1. Before locking in your 2024 Texas Open picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2024 Valero Texas Open field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 Valero Texas Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Texas Open 2024: Aberg, a rising star and one of the top favorites, struggles this week and doesn't even crack the top five. Aberg has exploded on the scene, recording one win and two runner-up finishes in 23 PGA Tour events. He's secured a top-10 finish in three of his last five starts, which includes an eighth-place showing at The Players Championship in March.

However, Aberg has struggled with accuracy off the tee this season. The 24-year-old enters this week's event ranked 98th in driving accuracy (57.59%). TPC San Antonio puts a premium on positioning off the tee, which doesn't bode well for Aberg's chances to finish on top of the leaderboard.

Another surprise: Tommy Fleetwood, a 30-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

This will be Fleetwood's sixth start on the PGA Tour this season. A poor second round at the Arnold Palmer Invitational put him on the wrong side of that cut line, but otherwise he's been solid with an average finish position of 24 in his other four PGA events this year. He also has a win and a T14 finish in two other international starts this season, and McClure's model is high on him this week for Texas Open best bets.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 Valero Texas Open picks

The model is also targeting three other golfers with odds of 25-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

The LPGA Tour will be implementing a new format for this year’s T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, Nev. Instead of group-based match play, the event will now feature a combination of stroke and match play to determine who will take home a share of a $2 million purse and 500 Race to the CME Globe points.

Here's a quick day-by-day breakdown of the format for the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards:

Wednesday and Thursday

Stroke play with a cut after 36 holes to the top 65 and ties

Stroke play with a cut after 54 holes to the top-eight players; in the event of a tie for the last match-play spot(s), a hole-by-hole stroke-play playoff will be utilized to decide the final match-play spot(s)

  • Match-Play Seeding:  For ties within the top-eight, match-play seeding will be determined using the following criteria: lowest score from the third round, then lowest score from the second round, then lowest score from the first round and finally, Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking as of Monday, April 1.
  • Seeding for players in a playoff for the final match-play spot(s) will be determined by those players’ scores on the playoff holes if the scores are different. If the playoff scores are the same, seeding will then be determined by the above criteria.
