The Great Adventure

Eva and Rene were amazing tour guides. Disappointed that we didn't see the Eiffel Tower at night. Several times we were dropped in town at night with not enough time to get a meal before being taken to the hotel. Some hotels were out of town with nothing within walking distance. Thank you to Rene for arranging for a group of us to go to the Moulin Rouge.

All About Balkans (4 Star Hotels)

A well organized whirlwind of experiences! Each day introduced us to the most spectacular sights of a new country. At each stop, well educated proffessional local guides explained the history and social complexion of the people. We received a taste of each region and often wished we had more time to explore. This tour could have been twice as long but for limited vacation time. Simon, our Travel Talks representative, masterfully lead a diverse group of 40 through the Balkans using humor, knowledge, passion and compassion. He brought us together as cohesive group and we forged new friendships. Any issue arising was handled in a mannner that left all of us having fun and learning new things.

Baltic Experience

The Baltic Experience tour was a lot of fun! Our Tour Leader, Agata, was superb! The small tour size (we had six participants) meant we got to know each other well. The tour had a perfect mix of planned group activities and time to explore the sites on our own. The on-line tour description was accurate and extensive. Three cautions: Travel insurance is MANDATORY, somewhat expensive, and not included in the tour price. Many, like me, will commit to the tour not knowing this additional cost will be tacked on. Second, the tour sometimes involves significant walking (up to 30 minutes) from transportation facilities to hotels while carrying your own bags (two weeks of baggage), as well as walking tours that sometimes involve climbing as many as 800 steps. This is a tour for fairly young and fit participants. Finally, European hotels and home-stay facilities generally don't have air conditioning or screened windows, meaning sometimes in the summer you will have to choose between sleeping in hot, stuffy rooms or opening the windows for mosquitoes to enter. All that said, this was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience and I would highly recommend it for fit, adventurous people with positive attitudes who can tolerate occasional less-than-luxurious accommodations.

Balkan Kaleidoscope

My wife and I enjoyed the Balkan overview w Penguin Travel. The tour is geared towards independent travelers with good mobility. Most of our fellow travelers were experienced and took advantage of the free time offered. The hotels were 3 star on average and despite some minor issues were clean and comfortable. We are glad we did not drive since the roads traveled were hilly and the speed limits as low as 18mph made the bus drive slowly and there were 16 border crossings. Enjoyed meeting fellow passionate travelers. Overall a good price given what was involved.

We spent 2 weeks with Choose Balkans Team travelled all over the Balkans. There’s so much to see and do in every place, this trip is definitely worth. It was great to eat local cosine. For us Berat was highlight of the trip.

Rome to London Quest (Summer, 10 Days)

Greg was a champ. He got to know everyone individually, catered for everyone's different interests and always able to answer any questions. We joined in a final leg of an existing tour and were made to feel really welcome. He made our contiki experience what it was.
