They put the “inn” in inn-sult.

Often seen as an oasis for the rich and famous , California’s luxury Petit Ermitage Hotel has become renowned for something else entirely, roasting guests who complain about their stay. Their hilariously snarky responses to negative reviews are currently blowing up on TripAdvisor as online fans praise their biting repartee.

Interestingly, the Petit Ermitage Hotel, which is located in West Hollywood and costs up to $850 per night, boasts an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on the travel review site. However, it’s come under fire in some reviews for being “overpriced” with “incompetent staff” and a “non-influencer friendly” atmosphere.

Thankfully, the owner — who refers to themself as the “The Monarch, Innkeeper at Petit Ermitage” — was quick to verbally eviscerate these negative Nancies — like Chicago’s notorious Weiner Circle . .. but for hotels.

For example, when one unhappy customer wrote that they’d prefer to stay at a “Holiday Inn,” the four-star resort’s ownership retorted, “Let us know which Holiday Inn and we’ll send you directions,” Kennedy News reported.

Another disgruntled guest expressed their dislike of the food, venting, “I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and it was truly inedible. I could not finish it. It had zero taste. Give me a Popeyes sandwich any day over this. It was a $28 sandwich with tip.”

The Monarch responded, “We can only aspire to the culinary heights of the Popeyes sandwich. And we will endeavor to get there … someday.”

One reviewer was ripped for misspelling “Petit” as “Petite” while complaining about an alleged bug infestation. “We do ask — as a bare minimum — that anyone leaving a review does spell the name of the hotel correctly,” snarked the Ermitage staffer in response. “It can lead to confusion. Especially among the roach community ………. Tallyho.”

Another guest declared that the Ermitage was unaccommodating to children and rated the “Sleep Quality 2 out of 5,” prompting the Monarch to quip, “We very much sympathize. Sleep and children do not go. But soon they will be off to college and you can reclaim all those hours lost. Stay strong.”

And of course, no review section would be complete without the fabled influencer-owner showdown.

One self-proclaimed content creator dubbed the hotel “not influencer friendly,” griping: “I got ignored by the staff almost every time I went up to the rooftop and all the staff seemed to be stuck up. But they were quick to come up to me multiple time as taking photos at this hotel is a huge issue and the pool is over cramped.”

The Monarch was quick to the put them on the rhetorical rotisserie. “At this juncture, we would like to apologize on behalf of our staff for ignoring you,” the would-be inn-sult comic sarcastically replied. “We can only surmise that you joined us on our bi-monthly “Stuck Up Day” where the more we love a guest, the more we ignore them.”

They added, “If you plan on returning, look out for our other themed days such as ‘We Don’t Care What You Ordered, You’ll Eat What We Bring you’ and how could we forget our ‘You Can Take Pictures By The Pool But Only of Your Least Redeeming Feature’ Day (hugely popular in the ‘Influencers Who Want a Dose of Reality’ community).”

Often times, the owner would even cheekily refer disgruntled guests to their fictitious “Liaison to Misery Sebastian the Peruvian Ferret” who they described as “completely indifferent to the concerns you have raised.”

“Resorting” to schoolyard insults might seem like a new low, however online viewers seemed to lap it up.

When one dissatisfied guest named Sally expressed shock at the owner’s comments on TikTok, viewers flocked to the comment section to praise the establishment.

“Haha, I love them for this, not going to lie,” gushed one fan, while another wrote, “They are so iconic.”

Many declared that the biting remarks made them want to stay at Petit Ermitage.

However, others saw the put-downs as inappropriate with one critic writing: “It’s funny but definitely a red flag. I wouldn’t stay there.”

“Sounds like Gen Z works there [nervous laughing emoji],” critiqued another in reference to the stereotype of Zoomers as “unprofessional” layabouts.

Fortunately, staying true to form, it appears that the Petit Ermitage is wholly immune to criticism.

“What is a disgruntled visitor? Is it a female Chief Executive who stubbed her toe alighting from a canoe the day before checking in?” inquired a hotel spokesperson. “Is it an absentminded gentleman Barista who misplaced his wife at a coffee bean convention in the highlands of the Sierra Nevada mountain range of Santa Marta, Columbia not four days before arriving to our humble surroundings?”

They concluded, “Or is it just, what we call in the business, a d–khead?

Very convenient.

From what I can tell, this app fixes the issues with NJ Transit. For example, if I want to go to a party on Sunday, I can’t just check it out on Tuesday! Before, I could only find the exact schedule in a massive printed timetable PDF. But this app makes it so much easier—it’s a real time saver!

I wish owned this place, I would changed so much from the looks of things are not well maintenance, staffed and well kept misison or vision of LOVES. BroKen things, dirty bathrooms and bad overall. Let me take over the management and I'll show you the way LOVES should be.....

I wish I was able to rate this gas station as a negative 40! I was so disappointed to see prostitutes walking around and inside the store. They seemed to hangout in the restroom. It was sad to see beautiful women degrading themselves. People roamed around begging money near the pumping stations. Customer service is none existent and rudeness is expressed as norm! Loves travel stop needs to visit some of these stations..reputation is everything!! SMH Not to mention, the ladies restroom needs sanitizing on walls in the stalls! Yuck And, we went to put air in tires..someone cut the hose. So, you won't get your $ back if you don't discover it in time. The service tech was snappy-full of attitude. And, the other tech begged for $ for coffee. This was a first with LOVES..disappointed!! Please inspect these location LOVES and patreon BEWARE!!

5:17am April 8,2022. Absolutely rude and no personality to each worker I encountered. The security was standing at the front and wouldn't even hold the door. Then I asked him if they sold bread in the store, he mumbled and kept walking. Wow, good ole southern charm at its best huh. The cashier with the red hair is very good at her job, but no personality whatsoever when I asked questions about the city. I have been out of the country for a while and thought I was missing something being around my people. No. Leaving the parking lot u will get beggars and then pot holes everywhere leaving. And I do mean huge huge pot holes. If I can avoid this way on my way back home,I certainly will.

Was crowded and truckers were rude. Not much parking and it seems like nothin but tractors here. Wierd

AVOID!!!!! This gas station is terrible. The 1st pump was broken. The 2nd pump, the seal was broken and the door on the machine by the credit card reader was loose as a goose! On top of that, the pumps ran super slow and the machine didn't have receipt tape. The clientele at this "Truck Stop" was 10 times better than people of Walmart. Trust me, you'll want to avoid this dump. The manager was rude too about the broken machine and the no receipt tape.

Credit Card Scam just waiting to happen! Manager says this is fine, it's been that way.

Avoid this Loves if you can. 1) Significantly higher than other nearby truckstops in diesel prices. 2) Roller grill & condiment bar is usually poorly stocked & dirty. 3) Coke and ice machines are frequently down on both the restaurant side and the C-store side. 4) The Chester's Chicken is significantly more expensive than other Chester's I've been too, while their tenders are smaller. 5) The Subway restaurant is OK, but dont count on getting a fountain drink. Refer to #3. 6) Mens bathroom is hit or miss- mostly its clean. Other times- it would be abusive to barnyard animals to let them crap in there. 7) Its alwaye something with this place. Theres always at least 1 thing screwed up about it. It seems like its only got this bad since the Pilot truckstops a few miles down the road at Shelby/Lamar got shut down- I'm told it was for eminent domain purposes to widen Lamar/US78. Idk if its true about eminent domain. 8) Its in a bad part of Memphis. Prostitutes frequently walk the lot and Lamar Ave. They stay at nearby hotels, 1 of which is directly across the street. If you MUST park here for your 10 hour break, LOCK IT UP. if youre getting diesel after dark and pulling forward from the fuel island, LOCK IT UP. I jnow another driver who had his very expensive Garmin Window mount GPS stolen from his tractor in the time it took to get hus diesel receipt. 7.1 this is a BAD part of Memphis. Not necessarily the worst part. But bad enough. Memphis is per capita the most dangerous city in the USA for violent crime statistics. Be vigilant, especially after dark.

Always clean restrooms and if there's a Bojangles get some. Their chicken rocks and the homemade biscuits

Well a few week's ago I crowned a different Love's as #1 in the worst category of truck stops. We have a new leader folks. This place is absolutely filthy. Avoid it if possible. Too many things to list. Absolutely pathetic.

This loves is the worst i ever been, i took a shower here and the shower are nasty they have mold on most of the bottom of the walls, alot of spiderwebs on the ceiling and the vents in there are gross, and the toilet are all scratched and has shit all around it !DO NOT COME HERE!

This place is an absolute shithole. Don't waste your time or money here. The fuel lanes are a freaking joke. Pumps always broken. The cashier is condescending and treats people like crap like she's doing you a favor cashing you out.... fuck this place at all cost avoid

A special segment of adventurous travelers will purposely book itineraries with long connections in layover cities just to leave the airport and explore for a few hours or days between flights.

Airlines have jumped on this growing trend with built-in "stopover" programs, which can come with free or discounted hotels, excursions, transportation, and food at the layover destination.

It's basically a vacation within a vacation.

Although it sounds too good to be true, stopovers benefit everyone involved. Travelers get more choices and don't have to be confined to an airport, airlines gain customers who may have otherwise chosen a nonstop option on a competitor, and the carrier's home country sees a boost in tourism.

Plus, the cheap or complimentary accommodations typically come at a small cost to airlines, thanks to partnerships with local hotels or tour companies.

Not all stopover programs are structured with an emphasis on tourism, though, as some were created simply to offer conveniences during long layovers. Still, they are a way to secure a free hotel and explore an extra city.

Here are 22 global airline stopover programs, each lasting anywhere from hours to months.

Many carriers allow stopovers to be added to a regular cash booking, but some are only available via award tickets . This means the flight was paid for using points/miles or a combination of points/miles and cash.

Air Canada has a stopover option built into its Aeroplan loyalty program. It allows customers booking award flights to add a stop on international journeys and explore practically any city the airline flies to outside the US and Canada.

The add-on costs 5,000 Aeroplan points each way and can only be booked if the stop is at least 24 hours, capping out at 45 days.

Air France/KLM

Air France and Dutch carrier KLM's Flying Blue loyalty program offers a stopover of 24 hours or more in a connecting city on either carrier or their airline partners.

The option is free to add to award tickets, and passengers can stay up to a year in the stopover city.

China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines offers a free one-night hotel stay for transfer passengers with connection times lasting between six and 30 hours, though there are some time and route restrictions.

Breakfast and transportation are included for eligible travelers.

Copa Airlines

Copa Airlines' Panama stopover program allows customers to spend anywhere from 24 hours to seven days in the nation's capital, Panama City, on their outbound or return trip.

The option is free for the first stopover, but a second stopover can cost up to $250 plus taxes. Copa offers discounted hotels and tours that can be booked via its stopover website.

Emirates allows a stopover in Dubai with the option to add discounted tours or hotel bookings to the itinerary via its website.

The UAE carrier also has a " Dubai Connect " program that gives passengers with layovers between 6 and 26 hours, depending on the cabin, a complimentary hotel, transfers, meals, and any needed visa.

Dubai Connect only triggers if the customer takes the next available flight. Essentially, you can't intentionally book a longer layover to quality for the free stopover hotel.

Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines' transit program gives customers flying via Addis Ababa a free hotel, transit visa, and transfers during layovers lasting between eight and 24 hours.

The hotel on the airline's website is the Ethiopian Skylight In-Terminal Hotel, located inside the airport.

Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways offers a stopover in its Abu Dhabi hub, which comes with an undisclosed discount at select three-star hotels for up to two nights.

Two and four-night stays can be booked at more luxurious four and five-star hotels at a 40% discount. The minimum stay is 24 hours.

Although Etihad's website says it is temporarily unavailable, the airline used to allow eligible travelers to use a so-called Transit Connect Package that provided a free hotel near the airport for layovers lasting 10 to 24 hours. It is unclear when or if the program is returning.

Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways offers a stopover program in Fiji for those traveling to and from Australia, New Zealand, and other South Pacific nations.

Hotels and activities like ziplining and beach resorts can be booked through the airline as part of the stopover package.

Finnair allows passengers to book 6, 12, or 24-hour layovers in Helsinki at no additional fare charge and outlines itinerary ideas and information on its website , like transportation, free walking tours, and restaurants.

Customers can book a hotel through the airline and earn Finnair Plus points.

Iberia customers can plan a stopover in Madrid to or from an international destination for one to six nights at no extra cost.

Discounts on hotels, excursions, and transfers in the Spanish capital are available through Iberia.

Icelandair offers a stopover option for one to seven days in its capital city of Reykjavik on transatlantic itineraries for no additional charge.

The airline offers itinerary help and assistance in booking excursions and tours. Hotels need to be booked separately.

Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines considers itself one of the "most stopover -friendly" carriers in the world.

The stopovers, which trigger at 24 hours, are not limited to JAL's hubs in Tokyo but can be enjoyed in places like Osaka and Kyoto using the airline's multi-city booking tool.

Latam Airlines

Latam Airlines offers stopovers for between one and three days on flights that connect in São Paulo, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Manaus, Curitiba, and Belem. Only international itineraries that connect in São Paulo.

Hotels and amenities can be booked via Latam, but the stopover booking is free.

Oman Air offers customizable stopover packages to give travelers time to explore the country's capital, Muscat, and beyond. An additional fare charge may be applicable, though the airline does not fly to the US.

Packages and a-la-carte options include discounted hotels for up to three nights, as well as organized tours, meals, and transfers.

Australian flag carrier Qantas offers its stopovers in a similar manner to JAL in that multi-city bookings can be manipulated to add extra days between flights in layover cities, like Bangkok, Osaka, or San Francisco.

This comes at no extra cost on eligible Qantas fares and can be used on its Oneworld partner airlines.

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways' stopover program allows passengers with a minimum layover of 12 hours and up to 24 hours to choose from a list of deeply discounted four and five-star hotels. Certain flight itineraries allow for up to four nights.

Nightly hotel rates start at $14 per person for 1 night at four-star standard hotels, with premium five-star beach hotels starting at $30 per person for one night.

Royal Jordanian Airlines

Royal Jordanian Airlines' transit program gives economy and business-class travelers with at least eight and six-hour layovers, respectively, a free hotel room, meals, and transit, assuming certain fare conditions are met.

However, the connecting flight must be the earliest possible — meaning, similar to Emirates, passengers can't intentionally book a longer layover to be eligible for the complimentary perks.

Swiss International Air Lines

Swiss International Air Lines, or SWISS, has a multi-city stopover booking tool on its website that allows passengers to find itineraries with extra days in Switzerland.

The cost of hotels and other perks is on the customer, though.

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines' stopover program is available via the multi-city tool, similar to other carriers, where travelers can add hotels, transfers, and activities. The stopover can last one to seven days.

Singapore also offers free transit tours to passengers with layover times between five and a half and 24 hours at Singapore's Changi Airport. It's first-come, first-serve and includes sightseeing around Singapore.

TAP Air Portugal

TAP Air Portugal allows customers to add a stopover in Lisbon or Porto between one and 10 days, offering discounts on hotels, food, and activities.

It also offers 25% off a domestic flight to a second Portuguese destination, like the Azores or Madeira islands, to take during the stopover.

Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines' stopover program gives economy travelers a one-night free hotel stay and business flyers a two-night free stay if the period between their connecting flights in Istanbul exceeds 20 hours.

Those traveling from the US in economy class can stay up to two nights in a four-star hotel, while those traveling in business can stay up to three nights in a five-star hotel.
