DRAMAtical Murder Walkthrough (All Endings)

This is my version of the walkthrough, be warned, there are unmarked spoilers.

Introduction

Noiz has multiple endings, each one is listed separately. Bad End 1: – Yes – No, we can’t. – No matter what. – Ever. – Because it’s wrong. – Because it’s just wrong – The real world

Bad End 2: – Yes – No, we can’t. – No matter what. – Ever. – Because it’s wrong. – Because it’s just wrong – A comfortable world.

Bad End 3: – No

Good End: + Yes + No, we can’t. + No matter what. + Ever. + Because we can’t. + Because it’s not over yet. + That’s not up to us. + Use your brain. + I’m…

In this part of the route, you need to answer trivia about Ren, to get the good end, answer correctly, to get the bad end, answer incorrectly. x means the answer is no, and o means the answer is yes.

Ren is not a boy = x Ren is a boy = o I love Aoba = o Ren calls me Aoba = o Ren is a big dog = x Ren is like family to me = o Ren is a big dog = x Ren likes Clara = x Ren’s eyes are brown = x Ren bites me all the time = x Ren’s tongue is pink = o Ren is an old model = o Ren dislikes Clara = o Ren’s collar has a star charm on it = x Ren is fluffy = o Ren’s fur is dark blue = o I need Aoba = o I worry when Aoba isn’t with me = o The pads of Ren’s paws are pink = o Ren first saw Aoba’s face five years ago = x Ren eats Granny’s food with me = x

Final notes

It is a simple guide, but it should be of some help. Again, I would save at the choices that determine if it is a good or bad end. If you right click, even when the choices are up, the menu will pop up. You can then either quick save or, as I would recommend, open the save/load menu. If you think you made a mistake at the last choice, you can also select “return to previous choice”.

yo, this guide is very helpful, but i have a question. How do you get Ren’s route? I currently have the Dramatical Murder (not the ‘re;connect’ one) so I was really dumbfounded when no choices like those popped up

Remember, it won’t count the end unless you watch through the credits

You have to complete all the other routes firstly, then, after that, new choices will appear when you start a new game. Then you can follow the guide to get Ren’s ending

Virus (ウイルス) and Trip (トリップ) are childhood friends of Aoba, having gotten to know him after Koujaku left. They always stick close together and work for the local yakuza, but are otherwise shrouded in mystery.

The only route available for Virus and Trip is a shared bad end. It can only be unlocked by clearing routes for the main four: Koujaku, Noiz , Mink , and Clear . Save before the last option for a quicker path through Ren's routes .

A few tips to make your life easier

  • The recommended route order is: Koujaku > Noiz > Mink > Clear > Ren
  • The right-click menu (see first image above) shows you how many flags you scored for each love interest. Once you enter a route, these are replaced by how many “right” answers you scored for the given LI.
  • If you want to easily go back to the last choice you encountered, you can click the button “Return to previous choice” from the same menu.
  • You can rapidly skip to the next choice by pressing N key or clicking “nitro skip” button
  • Making a wrong choice during a route doesn’t lock you out of a good ending! It just makes the final section harder.
  • If you have an equal number of flags between 2 or more LIs, you will get a choice at the end of the common route (in Aoba’s room) that lets you pick which route you want to start (see second image).

Koujaku’s route

Not too hard to figure out. Be a good bro and everything will be fine.

1 – I hesitate 2 – “You a magician?” 3 – I fight back 4 – I hear someone on the stairs 5 – I tell him to get lost 6 – I call out to Koujaku 7 – I don’t have a choice 8 – I keep quiet 9 – I want to get inside 10 – I glance at Noiz 11 – I look for Clear 12 – I draw some of them away 13 – I do as Mink says 14 – (if prompted) I think of Koujaku 15 – I let Koujaku help me 16 – I say something 17 – I hold on tight

Koujaku’s Bad End: 18 – Write anything other than “Don’t give up” and confirm

Koujaku’s Good End: 18 – Spell “Don’t give up” and confirm

Noiz’s route

Call him out and treat him like the brat he is. His last choices are a bit tricky and can be confusing. If you see your screen or game do weird things, keep playing! These are deliberate and part of his route.

1 – I smack her hand away. 2 – “You a magician?” 3 – What is this guy, twelve?! 4 – I hear someone on the stairs 5 – I try to talk him down 6 – I call out to Noiz 7 – I can’t go along 8 – I keep quiet 9 – I want to get inside 10 – I walk up to Noiz 11 – I look for Clear 12 – I go to help 13 – I do as Mink says 14 – (if prompted) I think of Noiz 15 – I drag him to the sink 16 – I tell him how I really feel 17 – He looks unhappy 18 – “Yes” 5 times, doesn’t matter which “yes” you pick 19 –  No

Game Over (you get sent back to the game’s main menu): 20 – No

Nois’s Bad End 1: 20 – Yes 21 – No, we can’t 22 – No matter what 23 – Ever 24 – Because it’s wrong 25 – Because it’s just wrong 26 – The real world

Noiz’s Bad End 2: 20 – Yes 21 – No, we can’t 22 – No matter what 23 – Ever 24 – Because it’s wrong 25 – Because it’s just wrong 26 – A comfortable world

Noiz’s Good End: 20 – Yes 21 – No, we can’t 22 – No matter what 23 – Ever 24 – Because we can’t 25 – Because it’s not over yet 26 – That’s not up to us 27 – Use your brain 28 – I’m…

Mink’s route

His choices are a bit peculiar: in the common route and the first choice you need to do what he says and keep silent, but once his route gets in full swing you must go against his orders and defy him. Guess he secretly likes it when Aoba is stubborn.

1 – I hesitate 2 – “You a magician?” 3 – I fight back 4 – I hear someone on the stairs 5 – I tell him to get lost 6 – I call out to Koujaku 7 – I don’t have a choice 8 – I keep quiet 9 – I want to get inside 10 – I glance at Noiz 11 – I look for Clear 12 – I draw some of them away 13 – I do as Mink says 14 – (if prompted) I think of Mink 15 – I get ready 16 – I tell him I don’t want to 17 – I still try to fight

Mink’s Bad End 18 – I help him 19 – I help him 20 – (if prompted again) help whoever you can

Mink’s Good End 18 – I don’t help him 19 – I don’t help him 20 – (if prompted again) don’t help them

Clear’s route

In a way, his choices are the opposite of Noiz’s: instead of telling him what to do, you must instead treat Clear like an adult and respect his autonomy so he can make his own decisions.

1 – I smack her hand away 2 – “Why the umbrella?” 3 – I fight back 4 –  I hear something on the roof 5 – I tell him to get lost 6 – I call out to Koujaku 7 – I can’t go along 8 – I say something 9 – “Did you really hear me?” 10 – I glance at Noiz 11 – I call his name 12 – I go to help 13 – I hesitate 14 – (if prompted) I think of clear 15 – I listen to his side of the story 16 – “Are you afraid of something?” 17 – I just look at him

Clear’s Bad End: 18 – Click either of the choices, doesn’t matter which

Clear’s Good End: 18 – Make no choice. Wait a few seconds till the choices crack and then break

Ren’s route / True route

After you scored the good ends of everyone else, you will see that Ren is no longer present in the main menu and when you start a new game, new choices will open to you. You must treat Ren like his own person and show concern for him.

1 – I smack her hand away 2 – I protect Ren 3 – “Not really, but…” 4 – “You a magician?” 5 – I fight back 6 – I hear someone on the stairs 7 – I tell him to get lost 8 – I call out to Koujaku 9 – I can’t go along 10 – I pick up Ren 11 – I say something 12 – I want to get inside 13 – I open the bag 14 – I glance at Noiz 15 – I look for Clear 16 – I go to help 17 – I do as Mink says 18 – I feel guilty 19 – I’m worried about how he’s feeling 20 – I pet Ren

Virus and Trip’s Bad End: 21 – I’m overwhelmed 22 – I use Scrap 23 – I can’t fight anymore

Ren’s Bad End: 21 – I’m pissed 22 – I fight the urge 23 – I can’t give up 24 – Give wrong answers to the quizz

Ren’s Good End: 21 – I’m pissed 22 – I fight the urge 23 – I can’t give up 24 – Answer the questions correctly

Ren’s super difficult scrap quizz: Ren is an old model – yes Ren bites me all the time – no Ren’s tongue is pink – yes Ren is not a boy – no Ren is a boy – yes I love Aoba – yes Ren first saw Aoba’s face five years ago – no (it was 10 years ago!) Ren calls me Aoba – yes Ren is a big dog – no Ren likes Clara – no Ren’s eyes are brown – no (they’re black!) Ren dislikes Clara – yes Ren is like family to me – yes Ren is fluffy – yes The pads of Ren’s paws are pink – yes Ren’s fur is dark blue – yes Ren’s collar has a star charm on it – no (it’s a needle!) I need Aoba – yes I worry when Aoba isn’t with me – yes Ren eats Granny’s food with me – no

Don't be fooled by the cheery aesthetic and atmosphere. This is still a Nitro+CHiRAL game, so expect horrifying things to happen.

  • Sei's Scrap is even worse, as he can use that ability using his eyes . And unlike Aoba, Sei has full control of his abilities. Never before being stared at is this scary.
  • Toue's grand plan is basically to brainwash the entirety of Midorijima (and yes, this refers to both Platinum Jail and the Old Residential District) to form brain-dead people living in an Orwellian dystopia where everyone is essentially empty in the blink of an eye. And it's strongly hinted that his plans do not stop at the unfortunate island. Sweet dreams.
  • When Aoba gets forcefully pulled into Rhyme, the creature that appears before him — who is actually Noiz in his avatar — is rather creepy, especially when it starts speaking in a distorted voice, complete with jumbled text.
  • The members of Morphine looks... off , as it's hard to tell whether they're looking into nothing, or right into you . What makes it worse is that they only turned out that way because of the horrifying Mind Rape they were forced to undergo after they were forcibly kidnapped. And the Morphine members that show up are the more successful subjects. What then happened to the ones who aren't as successful?
  • Poor Mizuki gets Mind Raped twice in a row. Fortunately he manages to recover, but still. In addition, there is his Scrap sequence in re:code ...
  • Noiz's "glitch" scene in his Scrap sequence can be unnerving for those who didn't expect it, to the point that players thought that the game itself was actually crashing. Before that, the disembodied arms and its sound effect can be pretty jarring. Also, their goddamned voices.
  • The AllMate guards in Oval Tower. At first glance, they look relatively normal. But then their faces open up. And inside their faces are guns that can shoot lasers, lasers that are deadly enough to kill you if you're not quick enough to dodge in time.
  • Each time Mink rapes Aoba can be rather disturbing due how realistic and brutal it is, particularly the agony and helplessness Aoba feels throughout. You can't help but wince whenever he gets hit, or feel like you're choking for air whenever he gets strangled.

Bad Endings

  • The "iiyo" scene in Koujaku's Scrap sequence if the player makes the wrong choice is nothing but unsettling, even if taken onto context .
  • Koujaku's bad ending is pretty brutal. Koujaku never recovers from his Unstoppable Rage and the tattoos take over his mind completely, while Aoba loses himself to his Superpowered Evil Side and basically transforms into an entirely different person. Koujaku is kept in a cage, now having devolved into nothing more than a feral and violent beast, and "Shiroba" happily treats him like a plaything. And during his sex scene with Koujaku in re:connect , the latter (who has grown fangs , mind you) bites Shiroba while giving him oral sex. Shiroba mentions that it could possibly be severed while smiling and moaning in pleasure the whole time. Yeah...
  • Noiz's bad ending stands out for the being the ending with the most Gorn , since Aoba and Noiz are stuck in the other's mindscape, which is now a sea of blood that they lie in whilst in the other's embrace. On top of this, they are covered in multiple cuts that are both shallow and deep to the point that the player can even see the bone through the lacerated flesh... because Noiz's desire to feel pain manifests in them getting wounded whenever they touch each other. In re:connect , this is taken up to eleven with a dash of Nausea Fuel , since the player is shown in explicit detail what exactly happened in Noiz's mindscape for them to end up in the state they were in from the CG. It doesn't help that the sound effects further escalates the horror and squick factor. This could be truly terrifying to any player who is easily squeamish.
  • Mink's bad ending, while much more subtle, is no less disturbing. The instant he talks about how a human's soul lies in the head, the player already has an idea about what will happen next . And when it does happen, the CG that shows the aftermath is very haunting, and what doesn't help is that the only sounds accompanying the scene is the dripping of blood and a slow, deliberate heartbeat. The only mitigating factor here is that when compared to what happens to Aoba in every other bad ending, at least in this ending, Aoba is killed swiftly instead of being forced to suffer a Fate Worse than Death .
  • Clear's bad ending has him reprogrammed, which strips him of all of his kind traits, but his love for Aoba remains. However, this is far from a good thing. Without his grasp of morality, Clear resorts to keeping Aoba by his side forever, and to ensure this, he has to transform Aoba into a "doll"... by taking out his voice, eyes, and limbs. re:connect even shows one of the surgeries in unsparingly gruesome detail, with Aoba screaming in pain as Clear removes his eyeballs in a surgery . The worst part is that Clear decided to not use anesthesia beforehand. Clear : Pain isn't very enjoyable, so I was wondering whether or not to use an anesthetic... and I've decided not to. With pain, won't your lost emotions gush forward?
  • Ren's bad ending has him "becoming one" with Aoba by eating Aoba , while raping him . What doesn't help is how the background is black for most of the time until you see a sudden flash of the gory CG with a sudden static noise before the whole CG is slowly shown in full view at the very end.
  • Virus' bad ending has him locking up Aoba in a small box as punishment when Aoba refused to obey his commands, with Aoba suffering in extreme pain as he falls into hopelessness . Aoba starts to hyperventilate while endlessly pounding against the box before letting out a scream of despair so primal that the player can feel his anguish.
  • In Trip's bad ending, Aoba is assaulted by Trip's lion AllMate, causing him no end of pain. Hearing his screams and cries the whole time just makes it harder to watch or even listen to.

This is the fandisc+Sequel of DRAMAtical Murder. It offers ending afterstories of the endings of the original game. There are also Featured Contents.

*Fandisc Content (Featured Contents)*

- THE CHIRAL NIGHT 1.0 -Dive into DMMd-: Read the special ADV scenes that were presented on Nitro+CHiRAL's 2012 Concert, as well as Web Voices! (You can find Chiral Night 2.0 subbed on youtube.)

- DRAMAtical Mother (DRAMAtical Moder in English Translation Patch): Nitro+CHiRAL's 2012 April Fools 'title' made its way to this game! Watch the special 8-bit 'RPG' movies that took place in the DMMd world.

- Character Matching Game: This is a minigame where you match cards. Play as Aoba and strike through as you play a match with the DMMd cast!

- Special Gallery: See the official art that was made when DMMd was developed. Includes magazine-exclusives art (from Cool-B and B's LOG) and Limited Edition wallpapers.

- 2012 April Fools -Aoba's Twitter Log-: See Aoba's twitter log.

- Countdown Voices: Listen to the 8-day countdown voices that were used for the release countdown of DRAMAtical Murder (12.03.15-12.03.23) and DRAMAtical Murder re:connect (13.04.18-13.04.26)!

*Ending Guideline / Suggested Route-Ending Order*

It's strongly recommended that you finish the original game first.  Each portal in the middle of the room represents a route, there are two unlockable routes, one platonic route for Mizuki that happens after the good endings for the original game and Aoba's route that contains a more in-depth backstory. The min-game assumes that you already played all routes, so play the mini-game after beating the main story-lines.

The recommended route order and the recommended order to see all the content of the fandisc is :

  • Noiz --> Koujaku --> Mink --> Clear --> Virus and Trip --> Ren --> Mizuki --> Aoba
  • See the Bad Ends before the Good Ends. In ViTri's case do Virus' ending then do Trip's ending.
  • To unlock the two final routes you need to go trough all endings including all possible choices during the Good End route of each character.
  • Main Stories --> Aoba's Twitter Log --> Character Matching Mini-game --> Special Gallery --> Countdown Voices --> Aoba's Birthday Presents --> DRAMAtical Moder --> THE CHIRAL NIGHT 1.0 --> THE CHIRAL NIGHT 2.0 (Find on youtube).

Don't forget to read the notes left inside the spoiler boxes. Also be aware that this walkthrough will only cover the interactive stuff (like mini-games), so Aoba's twitter log, countdown voices, Dmmd Moder and special gallery you'll have to see on your own.

Main Room : Select the Light Grey Portal then choose the tear icon. The rest is read only.

Main Room : Select the Light Blue Portal then choose the brain icon. The rest is read only.

*Card Matching Mini-game*

As the name suggests it's a card matching minigame, it's not that hard, but, it's a bit luck based since the cards are random. Each character card have a special ability, so it's up to you which special card suits you more. Other recommendation is to lose purposely to see the Game Over cutsene you get from your opponent, some of them are really interesting.

1.+yokoso.png

How To Play

At the start you'll play a rock-paper-scissor game, if you win you can choose to take a offesive or a defensive instance. Offesive=The first turn is yours, Defensive=Opponent gets the first turn.  Choose a random card and try to get the identical counter part (like a memory game), some cards have more than two counter parts! So be careful. In the end the one that have more cards wins the fight. If the cards are equal in the end, a sudden death turn will happen, where you will have to use luck to select the right cards. I recommend you following the battle order on the list for a better flow.

8.+lol+he+cant+believe+i+won.png

0-When you select a card, you can see a box with a descripition of the ability of the card you got. 1-Ren's card is very good to use in the first half (Ren to Trip), Trip's card is good to use until you reach the final bosses and Demon Koujaku card is really good in the Three final bosses. 2-The cards are random, the only thing that changes from character to character is their special ability and the difficult.

*Aoba's Birthday Presents*

A mini point and click game where you have to select the presents that Aoba is caring.

Resultado de imagem para Dmmd aoba bday presents

Ren's Present

Click on the white card on Ren's pawn.

Clear's Present

Click on the blue wrapping to the up-left of Aoba's head.

Noiz's Present

White and Green gift bag on Aoba's arm.

Koujaku's Present

Red box with a flower pattern on the left side of Aoba.

Mink's Present

Brown wrapping with a feather near Koujaku's present.

Trip's Present

Black gift bag at the bottom-right of the screen.

Virus' Present

Black box at the bottom of Koujaku's and Mink's present.

*CHIRAL NIGHT*

Not much to tell, pretty simple, just watch the main visual first, then watch the rest of the stage drama, and if you want, also watch web voice's.

This walkthrough is based on info attained on Nitro+Chiral Paths ,  DRAMAtical Murder Wiki   and my playthrough of the game.

trip and virus bad end

I've done all the main routes, got some good and bad endings but I can't seem to see the options for this route when I replayed! TTATT so sad I wanna try this route! Any suggestions or tips on how to make the options like "help ren" appear?

That happened to me too. Hmm..after you finish all the main/common routes - be sure to start all over again. DO NOT use the save/load menu to go back to the previous start or so. PLAY IT AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING. If you find that boring, you can press "N" and it will automatically stop at the CHOOSE menu. :) If that still didn't work - you probably missed one ending. Ex. You finished a specific route but didn't finish the credits and just exited - that wont be recorded I think...

OH i think i did that for one of them, exiting before credits finished, but i dont remember which one lool here i go again --". Thanks for the tip though!

Sorry, but uh, is this Ren's route? Or the common route? I've been trying to how to get the common route / Ren's route. Thank you!

The COMMON ROUTE in here is at the "Listen to Mink" or in the other characters - the part BEFORE they see the insane version of Mizuki. *COMMON ROUTE is the normal - routes. Every character will have them. The choices serves as a guide on who you want to get an ending with. (just think of the character you want to) COMMON ROUTE and REN'S route are not the same This is the unlocked routes : REN and VIRUS & TRIP's routes. You'll get this route after you finished all other four characters route: *Koujaku *Clear *Noiz *Mink ******all their good and bad endings. :) After that. Repeat the game from the beginning. Do NOT load it. START all over to play Ren's and the TWIN's part. New choices will appear then, starting at the first ryhme fight with Noiz and so on and so forth~ :3 Just think about Ren at the choices~ hope that helps~ (this is soo long~ gomen!)

And also, I didn't publish Ren's ROUTE. 1st. It's a lot of spoiler 2nd. It's sooo long. *A* 3rd. The H-scene is sooooo good. I cried... Gomenkudasaaaaiii~ \(*A*)/

Ah, I see ~ I've been trying to find how to play Ren's route. And, I think I am, cause all the choices up there, the new ones for Ren, I have. I have played all of the other routes, good and bad endings and all. So, I was just confused on if Virus and Trip's route was also the 'same' as Ren's route. Thank you for answering.

i already played rens route and i cant seem to get the twins route, its sorta frustrating. could someone help me out

Ohh~ you probably made a wrong choice when TRIP is beating you up. *The part where Aoba found himself at a laboratory room and started hearing voices. Then Virus and Trip showed up. When Trip is beating Aoba - two choices will appear, choose the 1st Option/Upper choice for the two questions that will appear, that's the twins route, choosing the other option will lead you to Ren.

When im in the part when aobs used scrap to himself, the screen just went black and an alarm just keeps on alarming is this normal? (Im aiming for the 2nd bad ending)

trip and virus bad end

I just can't get it!! I tried so hard because I had to repeat Noiz's route because I didn't got the 2 bad ending, then I tried three times but the mains semes keep coming! >:C And I don't think I skipped the credits of any route, because when I clicked the screen, the credits kept going! TT-TT Whyyyy?! Kill me please(? Anyway thank you for all the guides<3

Hello~ Did you make sure to repeat / start the game from the very beginning without loading anything from your Load Panel? Because I'm pretty sure that new choices will appear. *Once the characters (main characters) appeared on your main menu screen - when you finished an ending, I think that automatically means that you can go on to the next ones. :)

Hello, thank you VERY VERY MUCH for your hard work in summarizing all the routes! But will you also summarize Ren's ruote? I'm really curios, particularly because I don't understand why the bad ending is Ren eating the poor Aoba! I wanted to cry, poor baby!! I don't have the game, so I don't know anything, sigh... Thank you again!! <3

Hello!! I'm really thankful for your help :') ..but i've got some problems with Virus and Trip! I completed all bad and good endings and i still can't go on with the twins' route!! I started from the beginning, i tried the options that you wrote and also the 2 final choices (one time i decided the 2 up and the other time the 2 down to see if anything would have changed)...Everytime i get at Ren's part, when Aoba has to click yes or no on the red screens, and then i finish with Ren's bad or good endings! D: sorry if i'm dumb and i can't go onXD thanks.

Hello~ That's quite odd. I've never had that kind of experience but are you using the updated version (the FULL translation from Aarinfantasy) or the half version (this one, half translated)? But try this route; this is after the translation: up, down, up, down, up, up If you have the FULL English, it's: >I feel sorry >Feel very relieved >Answer Ren >Get Flustered >Use the power >I don’t have the energy to hold out but more or less, it's the last two options that will decide the route for Virus and Trip & with Rens. *Because the last option "I don't have the energy to hold out" Aoba will faint, if he "Continue to resist" he will try to keep himself conscious and Koujaku and the others will just come to save him~ :3 I hope this helps~ *u*)/

WHALE THEN!I actually like virus more then trip,my friend tanya likes noiz, and my friend Izzy likes aoba, and my friend Amanda likes clear, and my best friend Madison likes ren...SORRY,IM GETTING DISTRACTED!...

If i finished playing all the good routes do i still have to olay the bad ones in order to get the special routes?

Hello! You don't need to play the bad routes in order to get the special / true ending. Just a reminder, the special route is connected to Virus and Trip's ending. So if you chose the wrong ones, you'll get the bad ending (Virus and Trip's)

Sorry, iveI played ALL the game including Ren, virus&trip route but I can't seem to get the last cg in the gallery >check gallery>other>check 15 did I miss something?

DRAMAtical Murder: 5 Things The Anime Did Best (& 5 Things The Game Did Better)

DRAMAtical Murder was a choice-based game before it was an anime. Here are the pros and cons of each version.

DRAMAtical Murder is a BL visual novel centered around Aoba Seragaki, who initially lived a normal life in the Old Resident District of Midorijima. During the events of the game, Aoba can potentially learn more about his past, and also fall in love with one of five love interests along the way depending on which route he takes. There is also a twelve-episode anime adaptation of the game plus an OVA, where all five routes were combined.

Though there is debate over whether the game or anime is better, it's clear that both the game and its anime adaptation have their strong and weak points. From portraying specific character routes in more detail to better explaining backstories, the anime and the game both have their fair share of highlights.

10 The Game Portrayed Mink's Route Better Overall

Mink's route in the game was portrayed better than in the anime. This anime itself cut out or altered many aspects of Mink's route from the game, including the moments where Mink assaulted Aoba and when he dealt with Aoba's Sly Blue personality appearing. Additionally, Mink and Aoba did not have as much time to build up a relationship with each other in the anime compared to the games. The game did a much better job of explaining Mink's backstory during his route, as well as his eventual development from being cruel to caring for Aoba.

9 The Anime Did A Better Job With Clear's Route

The anime did the best job of portraying Clear's route when all the routes were intertwined. Some even argue that Clear's route was executed better in the anime than in the game itself. This is due to the anime having to condense all of the game's routes into shorter narratives to fit all of them into thirteen episodes. This forced the anime to get to the heart of each route rather than involve too many side bits. Clear's story in the game is already fairly well-paced, so the anime's ability to condense it and still make it as understandable as playing through the game's route was extremely impressive.

8 The Game Better Incorporated All The Side Characters

The anime incorporated many of the side characters involved in each of the love interest's routes. However, the game put much more attention into using all the side characters where they were actually needed.

RELATED: 10 Anime Twist Villains No One Saw Coming

Since the anime condensed all of the main characters' routes into one or two episodes each, this gave the side characters less time to shine when compared to the game. The exception to this was for side characters that had a bigger impact on the main story such as Tae, Mizuki, Trip, and Virus.

7 The Anime Explains Tae's Backstory Better

Both the game and anime explained Tae's role in Aoba's life, as well as her past with working for Toue. However, whether her backstory was revealed in the game heavily relied on which route Aoba took when playing - some routes explained more, while others barely touched on it. Since the anime combined all of the game's routes, it automatically needed to tell Tae's story. This gave her depth that might be missing otherwise when playing some of the game's routes.

6 The Game Gave More Depth To Mizuki

Though the anime depicted what Mizuki went through with being mind-controlled by Morphine, the game gave Mizuki more time to gradually develop. This also meant that the sudden change from Mizuki being his normal self to being brainwashed and controlled by Morphine felt less random than when watching the anime. Additionally, in the follow-up game,  Re: Connect , it was discussed that Mizuki later recovered from the failed Scrap Aoba gave him during the events of the first game. The anime doesn't follow up on Mizuki as much by the finale.

5 The Anime Better-Portrayed Tatsuo Toue's Role As A Villain

Both the anime adaptation and the game suffered from Tatsuo Toue being an underwhelming final villain, but the anime did a slightly better job with him. It more cohesively explained all of Toue's actions and motivations, and he was  introduced earlier on in the anime than in the game.

RELATED: 10 Worst Final Villains In Anime, Ranked

Some fans wish that Toue's demise was at Mink's hands rather than him offing himself after losing to Ren and Aoba in a last game of Rhyme in the finale. However, they were satisfied that he was thoroughly defeated in the end rather than fleeing as he does in some routes of the game.

4 The Game Gave More Expansion On Trip And Virus

Trip and Virus were revealed late in both the game and the anime to be the leaders of the mysterious Morphine group. However, they didn't get as much of a chance to shine in the anime.

In the game, one of the bad endings in Ren's route resulted in Aoba being imprisoned by Trip and Virus as their personal slave for months on end, with no sign of when it would ever stop. It was also revealed that Trip and Virus were deeply obsessed with Aoba and kept his past abilities a secret from Toue by removing Aoba's memories. In comparison, Trip and Virus' bad ending is saved for the anime adaptation's OVA, and their obsession with Aoba is hardly touched on in the main anime.

3 The Anime Gave More Opportunities For All Of The Main Characters To Work Together

In the game, there is a common route before the player (as Aoba) ends up taking one of the other routes depending on which choices he made during the common route. This often resulted in the player working with mainly one of out a few of Aoba's love interests, and the latter half of the game therefore largely depended on which route the player chose.

RELATED:  10 Shonen Characters Who Would Make Good Shojo Love Interests

However, the anime's route combining meant that the characters had more scenes where they worked together. For instance, everyone worked together to fight through Toue's tower in the finale while Aoba confronted Toue himself. The increased group work in the anime led to the characters forming an odd but united friendship with each other.

2 The Game Expanded More On All Of The Characters' Endings

The game made a point to expand on the characters' endings more in each of their individual routes. The anime adaptation gave only a glimpse of what everyone was up to after finally defeating Toue, focusing instead on the game's main story and doing little to follow up on what happened to the characters after Toue was defeated and Platinum Jail's Oval Tower was destroyed. Aoba gave a bit of narration at the end, and nothing much more.

1 The Anime Gave Everyone A Happy Ending

No matter which route the player took in the game version, only one of the love interests  would have a good ending - if the player got a good ending at all - but the anime gave everyone a happy ending. Mink got revenge for his lost village, Clear embraced his humanity, Ren accepted himself for who he was as part of Aoba, Sei died at Aoba's hands as he wished for, Noiz learned to understand others, and Koujaku overcame his inner demons and let go of his past. The anime did  compile all of the dark, bad endings  into the separate OVA.

Dubai’s Extraordinary Flooding: Here’s What to Know

Images of a saturated desert metropolis startled the world, prompting talk of cloud seeding, climate change and designing cities for intensified weather.

  • Share full article

A dozen or so cars, buses and trucks sit in axle-deep water on a wide, flooded highway.

By Raymond Zhong

Scenes of flood-ravaged neighborhoods in one of the planet’s driest regions have stunned the world this week. Heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates and Oman submerged cars, clogged highways and killed at least 21 people. Flights out of Dubai’s airport, a major global hub, were severely disrupted.

The downpours weren’t a freak event — forecasters anticipated the storms several days out and issued warnings. But they were certainly unusual. Here’s what to know.

Heavy rain there is rare, but not unheard-of.

On average, the Arabian Peninsula receives a scant few inches of rain a year, although scientists have found that a sizable chunk of that precipitation falls in infrequent but severe bursts, not as periodic showers.

U.A.E. officials said the 24-hour rain total on Tuesday was the country’s largest since records there began in 1949 . But parts of the nation had experienced an earlier round of thunderstorms just last month.

Oman, with its coastline on the Arabian Sea, is also vulnerable to tropical cyclones. Past storms there have brought torrential rain, powerful winds and mudslides, causing extensive damage.

Global warming is projected to intensify downpours.

Stronger storms are a key consequence of human-caused global warming. As the atmosphere gets hotter, it can hold more moisture, which can eventually make its way down to the earth as rain or snow.

But that doesn’t mean rainfall patterns are changing in precisely the same way across every corner of the globe.

In their latest assessment of climate research , scientists convened by the United Nations found there wasn’t enough data to have firm conclusions about rainfall trends in the Arabian Peninsula and how climate change was affecting them. The researchers said, however, that if global warming were to be allowed to continue worsening in the coming decades, extreme downpours in the region would quite likely become more intense and more frequent.

The role of cloud seeding isn’t clear.

The U.A.E. has for decades worked to increase rainfall and boost water supplies by seeding clouds. Essentially, this involves shooting particles into clouds to encourage the moisture to gather into larger, heavier droplets, ones that are more likely to fall as rain or snow.

Cloud seeding and other rain-enhancement methods have been tried across the world, including in Australia, China, India, Israel, South Africa and the United States. Studies have found that these operations can, at best, affect precipitation modestly — enough to turn a downpour into a bigger downpour, but probably not a drizzle into a deluge.

Still, experts said pinning down how much seeding might have contributed to this week’s storms would require detailed study.

“In general, it is quite a challenge to assess the impact of seeding,” said Luca Delle Monache, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif. Dr. Delle Monache has been leading efforts to use artificial intelligence to improve the U.A.E.’s rain-enhancement program.

An official with the U.A.E.’s National Center of Meteorology, Omar Al Yazeedi, told news outlets this week that the agency didn’t conduct any seeding during the latest storms. His statements didn’t make clear, however, whether that was also true in the hours or days before.

Mr. Al Yazeedi didn’t respond to emailed questions from The New York Times on Thursday, and Adel Kamal, a spokesman for the center, didn’t immediately have further comment.

Cities in dry places just aren’t designed for floods.

Wherever it happens, flooding isn’t just a matter of how much rain comes down. It’s also about what happens to all that water once it’s on the ground — most critically, in the places people live.

Cities in arid regions often aren’t designed to drain very effectively. In these areas, paved surfaces block rain from seeping into the earth below, forcing it into drainage systems that can easily become overwhelmed.

One recent study of Sharjah , the capital of the third-largest emirate in the U.A.E., found that the city’s rapid growth over the past half century had made it vulnerable to flooding at far lower levels of rain than before.

Omnia Al Desoukie contributed reporting.

Hersia (ヘルシャ) Herusha ) is Virus ' AllMate .

  • 1 Appearance
  • 2 Personality
  • 3.1.1 Trip and Virus's Ending
  • 3.2.1 Virus' Bad End
  • 4 References

Hersia takes the form of a large black snake and is hinted to be a Anaconda snake. Hersia's and Verter 's similarities in appearances are reminiscent of Virus and Trip 's twin-like qualities.

It is unknown when Virus acquired Hersia, but he had him as an AllMate prior to his and Trip's bad end when they fled the country with Aoba .

Personality

Unlike the other AllMates, which have distinct personalities and voices, Hersia lacks any human-like qualities and instead is presented as if it were an actual wild animal. However, it is shown to experience pleasure in abusing Aoba.

Hersia is not seen with Virus throughout the game at all until their bad end in both the original game and Re:connect.

DRAMAtical Murder

Trip and virus's ending.

Hersia is only shown for a short amount of time, coiling itself around Aoba as Virus, Trip and Verter continue to prod and force themselves onto Aoba.

DRAMAtical Murder Re:connect

Virus' bad end.

Virus orders Aoba to sprawl out on his bed while Hersia takes control first as Virus watches them while drinking wine. Aoba cries that he hates being humiliated in such a fashion but remembers the first time he disobeyed Virus' orders resulted in him being locked in a small cramped box for three days without human contact, food or water. Thus, he reluctantly arouses himself with Hersia as Virus watches on in amusement. Virus later joins in, both he and Hersia's tail penetrating Aoba, the latter crying that escaping is impossible and will soon be driven into madness until the day he dies.
