Twisted Metal: World Tour – PS5 Review 1

Twisted Metal: World Tour is the second game in Sony’s long-running vehicular combat series which stretches back from 1995’s original and was last seen in 2012 with the PS3 exclusive reboot also called Twisted Metal .

The games always enjoyed some degree of popularity, enough so that there’s actually a TV show coming, but everyone knows that Twisted Metal: World Tour was always the peak of the series and its now available on PS4 and PS5 (and free to PS Premium subscribers).

In terms of the single-player campaign, this means you get to select from the game’s varied cast of eleven drivers, each of which coming with a unique vehicle, and then you take on the game’s seven levels before facing off against the end boss.

The car-based combat is intense and frantic with the game playing out as a massive free-for-all battle on each of the stages with the AI attacking whoever is near them, rather than targeting the player.  However, there’s plenty of damage to go around and if you try to go head to head with enemies too often, you’ll no doubt be destroyed.

Now back in the mid-’90s this was unbelievable, brilliant level design and it’s still pretty cool now to be fair.  And each level has its own secrets, so if you take the time to explore, you’re sure to find a few extra weapons with which to defeat the other drivers.  The variety of these stages is also still a joy with each area having its own character and look.

The game is chaotic but in a great way that still makes it a ton of fun today.  Sure, the game’s end boss is still an absolute prick to deal with but aside from that it’s great.  And if you want a break from the game’s single-player campaign, the old school split-screen local PvP mode is still a blast too.  Although maybe it was a bit more fun in 1996 when we’d literally use paper and tape to divide up the screen so that the other player couldn’t see what you were doing.

twisted metal world tour

What’s cool about  Twisted Metal: World Tour  is that it still has all the special moves and cheats intact.  There are moves to fire off ice attacks and napalm or to raise shields and drop off mines.  There’s even a God Mode cheat in there (although that disables trophies) and hidden characters to unlock.  It’s all such a delightful throwback to a time before microtransactions and pay to win nonsense.

twisted metal world tour

Obviously, modern/younger gamers might look at  Twisted Metal: World Tour and think ‘WTF is this, grandad?’ but OG PlayStation players know where it’s at and this game still stands as one of the most fun and twisted vehicle combat games ever.

Twisted Metal 2

Windows - 1997

Description of Twisted Metal 2

The second in the Twisted Metal series of car combat games, and the last to be developed by SingleTrac, Twisted Metal 2 is considered by most of its fans to be the pinnacle of the series.

Combat takes place between a wide array of vehicles ranging from a man strapped between two wheels to an ice cream truck, using an eclectic arrangement of weaponry. The action takes place in 8 different locales around the world, many featuring destructible buildings and landmarks.

The plot - the least important element in games of this kind - is simple: you are competing in a worldwide car combat game staged by the a powerful man named Calypso. You pick your vehicle from an array of heavily-modified cars, including a flamethrowing Chevette, a spinning F1, to a dangerous contraption that consists of nothing more than two monster wheels (with you strapped in the middle). You then play through a series of arena throughout the world, picking up weapons and trying to kill other vehicles before you are toast.

Like other SingleTrac games (most notably JetMoto ), the gameplay in Twisted Metal 2 is very well designed. Each car has its own special move, and the game obeys a logical yet totally unrealistic physics model that allows you to turn on a dime and go flying 100 feet in the air. The weapons in comparison are quite standard: dumbfire and homing missiles, ricochet bombs, mines, napalm, and many more. The environments are also very well-designed. The Paris level, for example, features a destructible Eiffel Tower in addition to several priceless works of art in the Louvre; the Antarctica level collapses piece by piece until one small glacier island is left; the incredibly large Hong Kong level contains a subway (complete with trains coming and going on schedule) and one of the biggest and most difficult bosses you will ever see.

There are also a few multiplayer modes to choose from, including a two-player co-operative mode that allows you and a friend to go against computer-controlled teams.

With excellent levels, furious action, and unrealistic but fun physics, Twisted Metal 2 is definitely worth a look for anyone who enjoys games like Quarantine , Death Drome , or Rocket Jockey . Two thumbs up, way up!

The Fan Made edition was released by LuKeStorm and FF . There is a false trojan when virus scanned. It has the original version as well as a Russian hack that rebalances the game. Single player is the original game with no changes (which most of us play online) and multiplayer launches with the Russian hacks.

If you want to use a controller with this game, try xpadder to remap your controller for it. If you're trying to play this natively on older hardware, then xpadder 2007.12.07a is the last version to work on win9x/me.

Anyone has any idea of how to fix the aspect ratio in this, TM1 and Jet Moto? Even though these repacks are awesome, the games still look awfully stretched on a 16:9 screen. I'm trying to hex edit the executable by comparing it to the PS1 version (which has a known widescreen patch) but I couldn't find any useful addresses yet.

You can change controls in the rip version. The menus run very fast, so you need to tap the button once very quickly to get into the menu. Then you can enable the gamepad and edit button mappings.

Both ISO and RIP work. Unfortunately, RIP doesn't have the movie files at all. The ISO has the movies, but will either only play the audio or will crash the game. Copying the movies from the ISO to the RIP doesn't work.

Twisted Metal 2 (known in Europe as Twisted Metal 2: World Tour and Twisted Metal EX in Japan) is the second and most successful game in the vehicular combat Twisted Metal series. It was developed by the game studio SingleTrac , published by Sony , and released in 1996 for PlayStation and Windows .

The PC version features slightly cut-down graphics compared to the PlayStation version (minor details of some levels disappeared) but it doesn't require a 3D accelerator video card and plays well on weak descendants. It also features multiplayer mode over a modem line or Internet.

Two years after its release, Twisted Metal 2 was re-released as a Sony Greatest Hits game. A similar title was released in Japan in 2007 . On November 1, 2007, it was also released for download in North America on the PlayStation Network .

In concept, Twisted Metal 2 is a demolition derby which permits the usage of ballistic projectiles. Players choose a vehicle and an arena – or a series of arenas in the story mode – to engage in battle with opposing drivers. A variety of weapons are obtainable by pick-ups scattered throughout the stage. The objective of the game is to be the last remaining player.

The story follows up from the first game, having a man named Calypso host a vehicular combat tournament called Twisted Metal, which grants its winner a single prize: anything he or she desires. There is a general "be careful what you wish for" theme, as many of the contestants wind up with not-so-happy endings.

The plot is set a year after the first game, but instead of the city of Los Angeles being the arena of the contest (which was left in ruins by the previous 10 Twisted Metal tournaments), cities from all over the world are used.

Twisted Metal: World Tour (PlayStation Review)

Jake is back with another top notch review. Have a read and be sure to check what he’s up to on  Twitter  and also on his  YouTube channel , full of retro gaming goodness!

Twisted Metal: World Tour (also known as Twisted Metal 2 to the U.S.) is wanton destruction on wheels. Fans say it’s the best of the vehiclular deathmatch series, and with good reason, too. It had expansive levels, oodles of vehicles and an arsenal of deadly weapons. While it didn’t radically differ from the first game in a multitude of ways and was a bit too tricky for its own good, it still blew away gamers around the world.

One year after the first Twisted Metal tournament took place, its sadistic brainchild, Calypso, had a revelation. Now, the brutal competition will take place across the globe! The rules are the same as before: whoever overcomes the onslaught of bloodthirsty drivers will be granted a single wish. The partially-animated comic book-style cutscenes are darkly humorous and have some great voice performances. The lead villain, however, steals the show. Calypso, voiced by Mel McMurrin, is just as suave as he is insane, making him an unforgettable antagonist.

twisted metal world tour

The twelve vehicles on offer (plus two unlockable ones) have their own unique stats, these being speed, turning, armour, and the damage dealt by their unique special move, of which have limited uses but are gradually awarded to players over time. These can really give you the edge; the F1 racer can spin around like a tornado, while the construction vehicle will grab your car with metallic pincers, slamming it repeatedly into the dirt. You can even input ‘power moves’ by pressing buttons in a certain order, and these include freeze rays, shields, and more. SingleTrac really spoiled us for choice here. After all, how many games allow you to control a cyborg trapped between two gigantic wheels with missile launchers mounted on his shoulders?

The eight levels on offer are a lot bigger than the ones seen in the first game. Expect destructible environments, secret teleporters, and ramps to fly across. You can topple the Eiffel Tower to access the rooftops, destroy blocks of ice in Antarctica, and blow up the electrical boxes in Los Angeles to zap everyone with lightning. Otherwise, you’ll be zipping across lava in Amazonia and leaping off the rooftops of New York during some high-octane chases and demented deathmatches. Mind you, Russia and Holland’s maps are very bland because of how symmetrical and basic they are. On the plus side, two-player mode has a few exclusive stages to unlock.

twisted metal world tour

There’s nothing more satisfying than a loud BOOM from a detonated rocket, or the CRUNCH of a demonic ice cream truck smashing into an enemy. It’s a bit of a bummer, though, that the sound effects are are a bit muffled – a product of audio compression to save space. The game’s rock-centric soundtrack is decent, but the visuals are blocky and suffer from texture-warping (where patterns on walls and floors wobble a bit when you get up-close). Framerate dips were fairly common in PlayStation games back in the day, and this one was no exception.

Twisted Metal: World Tour had its fair share of niggles. Steering still feels a bit sloppy, more so if you’re at a standstill, and having to press the up-button to accelerate while fiddling with the others in order to pull off the secret moves like freeze rays and invisibility is a bit frustrating. On top of that, enemy racers will relentlessly unload their arsenal when you’re in close vicinity and won’t fight one another, which feels cheap. It makes the tournament mode unnecessarily difficult to beat. Good thing you can pick your own maps and opponents in challenge mode, which makes it worth replaying over and over, whether solo or in split-screen mode.

twisted metal world tour

Two decades on, it’s safe to say that Twisted Metal: World Tour is still a banger. Anyone wearing their nostalgia goggles will no doubt admit how tricky the title is, no thanks to its relentless AI. Despite its average visuals and muffled sound effects, there’s oodles of vehicles, special moves and weapons on offer. The majority of maps have some great level designs, and the cutscenes are a must-watch experience. Not only did Twisted Metal: World Tour polish up what made the original game fun without metamorphosing into something completely different, it cemented itself as one of the most memorable titles in the series. If you’re a PlayStation fan with a desire for exciting firefights, look no further.

We take another look at the e3 spec project's test run and see if we can figure out what octane this baby will burn..

Of course, we'll just take a game that rocks our jocks off...

twisted metal world tour

Sony is not ready to confirm that the Twisted Metal PSP project is really happening just yet (just as they said they would, they're keeping almost everything close to the chest until this September's TGS,) but it's really only Sony who's believing that line. For the rest of us, it's just a matter of time. And time may be a good thing, in this case -- it was quite easy to get hyped for the news that Twisted Metal was running wild on PSP at E3, and the explosive action on the demo clip sent fans into supernova, but after checking the tapes of what's been shown on TM PSP, we're realizing that there are as many questions as answers in what's been revealed so far ... nothing bad, but certainly things that were only ready to be peeked at back in May, that still had some time in the refinery due. It will likely be that, by the time Sweet Tooth & friends shows themselves again, everything will come into a vertigo-inducing focus that shows where this game fits in Twisted Metal 's cannon-firing canon. First off, that name. Sony labeled the PSP game shown at E3 as Twisted Metal: World Tour . Many fans noticed the "World Tour" label -- the silent subtitle (it's in the game, but not on the box) for the second PlayStation version of the series; those same fans also noticed that the "2" was missing from that same title. That leaves a gaping question: is this a remake of just the second Twisted Metal , an all-new game that shares the same moniker, or something else entirely?

The answer given in the footage released so far is that it could be a little bit of everything. The cast of characters shown so far (though whether these Twisted Metal competition invitees are just placeholders or meant to stay is unknown) all hail from the first two editions of the series. It could also be that this is a large-scale Twisted Metal compilation -- though it's hard to figure out how TM: Small Brawl would fit into the mash-up, and there's not a lot of love out there for Twisted Metal 3 & 4 (though it would be interesting to see how Incog would sweep up the abandoned streets of the 989-produced TM step-children). A better guess would be that, between these throwback characters and the international settings, the PSP edition being based off of the globe-trotting second Twisted Metal -- argued by many as the best the series ever had -- with some lost characters from the first game getting another go at the competition.

The problem with that theory is, as fans instantly recognized, Twisted Metal 2 never had an Egyptian stage. It also didn't have any stage that featured a mansion. It did have one major stage -- Paris -- set in a city, but the stretch shown in the PSP clip looks nothing like TM2 's angled French alleyways. Though it's difficult to pinpoint exactly where the heck we are in the middle of the chaos shown in the clips (we count at least distinct stages shown so far, and maybe as many as five), the identifiable stages shown so far don't look to be anywhere that Calypso's staged a contest before (the closest we get is a quick glimpse of Russia, but the wide-open Moscow here look nothing like TM2 's enclosed Suicide Slide bowl.) Incog would logically be adding stages to the mix -- what passed for plenty in 1996 could be considered quaint by today's standards -- so it remains to be seen how deep into its SingleTrac past Incog is willing to go and how much new territory they want to rip up. We're dying to see what Hong Kong looks like with some megawatt next-gen power lighting up its streets.

twisted metal world tour

But even at that, how will this work as just a pure Twisted Metal 2 sequel? Some may still be wondering, "Why just TM2 ?" And why, from the looks of things, a straight-up version of the game as opposed to following the dark path of the mind-bending TM:Black or forging its own rampaging route. After all, in some ways, Black was a remake of TM1 -- stages such as the Downtown Warehouse District, Freeway, Skyscraper Rooftops, and even the Suburbs of Cyburbia were given a Black eye in the PS2 game, and the story of the Twisted Metal contest was rewritten completely over to lose things such as the annual-event backstory (also lost was Calypso's hair.) After Twisted Metal 2 carried the story to unassailable heights (and then the third and fourth games drove the whole thing into the ground), it made sense for Incog to call a redo. Question is, are they doing the same thing with the PSP game? It'll be nice to return from the deranged insanity of TM:Black to just the regular insanity of the first Twisted Metals , but at the same time, it's hard not to hope for another style break for the PSP game. What we do know from what's been shown so far is that Incog is playing around with both traditional Twisted Metal attack techniques as well as some new maneuvers learned in TM:Black , with a few new tricks also thrown into the mix. From the debug menu shown on the video (ignore the large text menu down on the lower right if you're wondering how annoying that'll get in gameplay -- this is just a developer's tool that won't be in the final), the weapons include the standard Homing, Fire, Power, and Special standards. From Twisted Metal 2 , we get the return of the Remote weapon and the Napalm attack (as opposed to TM:Black 's Gas Can), and also making an appearance from both TM2 and TM:B are Ricochet (not sure if it's the bomb or the disc) and Environment (not Lightning, but same difference). The only new standard attack is the Swarm, but it seems to work a lot like Black 's Reticule weapon. All of the attacks we've seen so far have slightly modified missile designs, including impressive contrails. Turbos and the Advanced Attacks are also back again -- the special meters are shown in the menu bar, and though we're not sure which AAs made the PSP edition, Sweet Tooth is credited for a Mine bonus, so we've at least got those going.

As for special attacks known so far, Sweet Tooth looks to be back to his Napalm Cones, Twister has her Tornado Spin, and Thumper has traded his booming sound system of TM1 for the flamethrower of TM2. Curiously, Mr. Slam has his old Grab and Slam, but the move then hucks cars miles up in the air the way his close kin Auger did in TM3 (of course, this could be just coincidence that both teams though this'd be a killer way to finish the special.)

  • Mr. Slam ( TM2 , sort of TM3, TM:Small Brawl )
  • Crimson Fury ( TM1, TM: Small Brawl )
  • Thumper ( TM1, TM2, TM3, sort of TM4, TM: Small Brawl )
  • Axel ( TM2, TM3, sort of TM4, TM: Black )
  • Sweet Tooth (all Twisted Metal games)
  • Mr. Grimm ( TM1, TM2, TM3, TM:Black -- no sidecar this time)
  • Roadkill ( TM1, TM2, TM3, TM:Black -- here in its TM1 paintjob)
  • Shadow ( TM2, TM:Black, TM: Small Brawl )
  • Twister ( TM2, TM: Small Brawl )
  • Grasshopper ( TM2 )
  • Outlaw ( TM1, TM2, TM3, TM:Black, TM: Small Brawl -- labled Outlaw, but could be Outlaw 2)
  • Spectre ( TM2, TM3, TM:Black, TM: Small Brawl )
  • Warthog ( TM1, TM2, TM3, TM4, TM:Black, TM:Small Brawl )

twisted metal world tour

We're still plenty of answers short of the full carload -- the obvious question hanging out there whether this is even a game in full production and where Incog is today with the project now three months after E3. More than that, there haven't been answers yet as to whether Twisted Metal: World Tour PSP will utilize the system's WiFi features for networked multiplayer madness (but seeing the kind of gameplay here and knowing that they've already done TM:Black Online , that seems pretty danged obvious, doesn't it?) Twisted Metal for PSP will hopefully pull in for another showcase around the time that Sony announces its full PSP plans for the States -- since we're not getting the system until after the New Year, it's not known exactly when that will be, but we've been honking our horns at Sony since E3 to give us a better glimpse at this asphalt burner (perhaps even a spin behind the wheel?) Calypso hasn't sent out his invite for the PSP Twisted Metal tournament yet, but expect the date to follow closely on the launch of the system. Bring some friends, because in this game, you'll all be calling "shotgun."

Overview [ ]

The games in the series center around the eponymous Twisted Metal competition (that starts at Christmas Eve), which is a demolition derby which allows the use of ballistic projectiles, such as missiles and machine guns. The contest is run by a mysterious man named Calypso, who grants the winner one wish, that, in his own words, has no limits on "prize, size, or...even reality."

The second game in the series, which takes place exactly one year after the events of Twisted Metal , on Christmas Eve 2006. It is also the only game in the series to receive a PC release. It was released for the PlayStation on October 31, 1996.

Twisted Metal III [ ]

Twisted metal 3-front

After SingleTrac stopped developing Twisted Metal due to a contractual dispute with Sony, Sony gave the job of creating the next game to 989 Studios . Twisted Metal III is a continuation of the second game, set somewhere within or after the year 2007. It was released for the PlayStation on November 10, 1998.

Twisted Metal 4

The second game by 989 Studios, and the first one to have another person other than Calypso hosting the contest - Sweet Tooth himself. After developing several non- Twisted Metal vehicular combat games for GT Interactive, a large number of SingleTrac employees left the company to form the gaming studio Incognito Entertainment and signed with Sony. Naturally, Sony offered them the opportunity to develop a new Twisted Metal title and their first game was Twisted Metal: Black for PlayStation 2.

The game has a much darker atmosphere than the first two games, and is the first game in the series to receive an "M" rating from the ESRB. Critics regarded it as the best in the series.

The only Twisted Metal game on the PlayStation Portable, Twisted Metal: Head-On is a true sequel to Twisted Metal 2 , and is the "real" Twisted Metal 3 for story line purposes.

Extra Twisted Edition [ ]

A port of Twisted Metal: Head-On to the PS2. It contains additional content, such as a documentary looking back on Twisted Metal, and ending movies cut from Twisted Metal, as well as an extra version with content from the unreleased sequel to Twisted Metal: Black .

Twisted Metal (2012) [ ]

TwistedMetalPS3BoxArt

Eat Sleep Play created the latest installment for the Twisted Metal series on the PlayStation 3, released February 14th, 2012. Many who pre-ordered obtained Axel before everyone else. Other versions include the Limited Edition , which came with a direct re-port of Twisted Metal: Black . This game features a dark atmosphere similar to Twisted Metal: Black , but not as brooding and colorless.

Cancelled Titles [ ]

Twisted metal: road trip [ ].

Curiously one of the lesser known cancelled installments, Twisted Metal: Road Trip was developed alongside Twisted Metal: Black until being dropped by Incognito in favor of the latter early in development. Players would have visited popular U.S. landmarks across the country, and the atmosphere would have been alot less dark. [1] [2]

Twisted Metal: Harbor City [ ]

This Twisted Metal game was cancelled during its alpha stage. Harbor City would've featured an interconnected world which could be traversed via long highways, connecting every level into one big map. There was also going to be on-foot sections where you control Needles Kane . This game was made alongside Head-On , so both games shared some elements.

Twisted Metal: Apocalypse [ ]

This Twisted Metal game was cancelled during its conceptual stage. According to David Jaffe , Apocalypse would take place in a post-apocalyptic future where the world is dominated by Calypso's contest. Each driver would have a different motive for competing in the contest. Aside from a new environment, every character would've been from a previous installment of Twisted Metal . Its ideas were eventually used in the 2012 release.

Twisted Metal: Revolution [ ]

This Twisted Metal game was cancelled during its conceptual stage. Also in development for the PS3, this title was very similar to the previous one, but with a more realistic look, and a feel similar to the "Midnight Club" series as described by David Jaffe. It was likely cancelled as portraying the environments from the concept art to 3D models resulted in extremely bland environments.

Twisted Metal (Live-Service) [ ]

Unnamed live-service Twisted Metal game cancelled early on in its development. It was originally supposed to be made by the UK-based studio Luden Games, but was later handed to Firesprite. Not much is known about it and the game was never greenlit, but it was to be released on the PS5.

Twisted Metal Ending Explained: Who Is Calypso And What's The Deal With His Deadly Tournament

Please let there be a Season 2...

Quiet and John outside New San Francisco in Twisted Metal

Spoiler Warning: The following article is an expressway of spoilers for Twisted Metal Season 1. If you have yet to watch Peacock’s video game adaptation and wish to avoid spoilers, please take your first exit.

After what seems like years of hearing about it, Peacock’s high-octane thrill ride that is Twisted Metal has completed its first season; a run of 10 episodes that was as fast and furious as the classic video game franchise on which it is based. With a combination of intense action, some over-the-top and hilarious music moments , and outstanding chemistry shared by its leads , Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz, there was a lot for viewers to enjoy .

While the show’s debut season didn’t offer up as much vehicular combat as longtime fans may have liked, the Twisted Metal ending sure did a great job of teasing what’s to come, both when it comes to the titular tournament at the center of the game franchise and the mysterious figure pulling all the strings. Here’s where the show has been and where it could be headed in the future.

Sweet Tooth surprising Stu and Mike in Twisted Metal's finale

What Happens At The End Of Twisted Metal Season 1

In true video game adaptation fashion, Twisted Metal Season 1 was essentially a 10-episode fetch quest that saw milkman John Doe ( Anthony Mackie ) be tasked with driving from New San Francisco to New Chicago in order to pick up a mysterious package for the even more mysterious Raven ( Neve Campbell ). However, In the season finale, we learn that the amnesiac delivery driver wasn’t picking up medicine, riches, or some biological weapon, but instead a pint of ice cream (the wrong flavor at that).

In the final moments, as John is about to leave the safety of the Bay Area to find Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), who is on her own journey after their cross-country trip, Raven tells the milkman that this was actually a test to see if he could handle driving for her in Calypso’s upcoming Twisted Metal tournament, a vehicular combat contest in which the winner gets anything they desire…

Calypso's silhouette in Twisted Metal

Calypso Has Been Teased All Season, Who Is He?

Though he is never seen in the flesh, Calypso is a major presence that can be felt throughout Twisted Metal Season 1, with the first reference to the creator of the titular destruction derby with guns coming in the debut episode in the form of a “Calypso is real” tag on a highway sign.

There are a few more teases throughout subsequent episodes, and John Doe and Quiet even speak with the mysterious figure upon arriving in New Chicago in the “NUTHOUZ” episode. Even then, we only hear his voice (through an intercom) and never get to see his face. Then the biggest reveal about the character comes in the aforementioned scene in which Raven tells John about an upcoming tournament being organized by the mystery man. But, who is Calypso, anyway?

CINEMABLEND NEWSLETTER

Your Daily Blend of Entertainment News

Ever since the Twisted Metal video game franchise was introduced back in 1995, Calypso has been a major figure in the series’ events, as he is the founder of the tournament from which the game draws its name. The malevolent, charismatic, and demented event organizer has the ability to grant any wish the winner desires, but more times than not, there’s a catch that results in the champion actually being the biggest loser.

From the first game’s hilarious canned endings to those comic book-like cutscenes from its sequel to 2001 reboot, Twisted Metal: Black , Calypso has long been a man who can pull off the impossible, but for a hefty price. How the character is depicted (and who plays him) in a potential second season is anyone’s guess.

All Roads Lead To The Titular Vehicular Combat Tournament

Though the Twisted Metal tournament itself doesn’t get mentioned until the final minutes of the new Peacock original series ’ debut season, the previous episodes do a fantastic job of laying the groundwork for the vehicular combat contest with the aforementioned Calypso signs, the walled-off cities, and vast battlegrounds sprinkled throughout the Divided States of America. We don’t know where the deadly tournament will take place – the first game was in Los Angeles, the second was a “World Tour,” and Twisted Metal: Black was in the fictional city of “Midtown” – all roads lead to vehicular combat, possibly in New Chicago.

Unlike New San Francisco and Agent Stone’s (Thomas Haden Church) car blockade in the American West, the “Windy City” could be the best possible place for Twisted Metal to go down. It’s centrally located in the country, there are obviously multiple roads going in and out of the region, and the city is seemingly an automated fortress, which would be ideal for Calypso to hold and oversee his epic destruction derby. Just thinking about John Doe, Sweet Tooth, Quiet, and the rest of the possible contestants racing down Lake Shore Drive, blowing up landmarks like Wrigley Field, and recreating The Dark Knight ’s “truck flip” would be sight to see.

If the combat in Twisted Metal Season 2 is anything like the showdown with Agent Stone’s cops in the Season 1 finale, then we’re in for one hell of a ride.

John Doe and Quiet in Twisted Metal

Who Are The Drivers Participating In Twisted Metal?

More than a dozen characters from the Twisted Metal franchise showed up in the first season, and many of them are still alive and well enough to enter the upcoming tournament.

In the final moments of the Season 1 finale, as Raven is telling John Doe about the contest, drivers from throughout the season – Preacher (Jason Mantzoukas), Miranda Watts, a.k.a. Twister (Jamie Neumann), Amber Rose, a.k.a., Flower Power (Diany Rodriguez) – are shown on a bracket, leading you to believe they’ll all be in the tournament. Interestingly enough, the board also featured Bloody Mary (Chloe Fineman), even though she was presumed dead after an encounter with John and Quiet earlier in the season. The brief scene also teased some of the franchise’s most iconic characters, like the motorcycle-riding spirit known as Mr. Grimm and Axel, a man who has long been trapped in a vehicle of his father’s creation.

But, that isn’t all, since Sweet Tooth (Samoa Joe/ Will Arnett ) could also be in the tournament, as it’s revealed in the Twisted Metal Season 1 mid-credits sequence that he somehow survived setting his head on fire, being shot, and getting hit by a car in that epic battle with Stone. There is also the Dollface situation, as John Doe’s long-lost sister confronted Quiet before the credits rolled. We’ll have to see if the pair form a team of their own or become bitter enemies on the road to Twisted Metal.

Upcoming Video Game Movies And TV Shows: The Adaptations Coming In 2023 And Beyond

Hopefully, the show is picked up for a second season so that we can see Calypso and his tournament in all their glory after the way things wrapped up in the Twisted Metal ending. But, while we wait for more information on the return of one of the most surprising shows on the 2023 TV schedule , now would be a good time to check out everything that comes with a Peacock subscription .

Twisted Metal 2 Codes

Image of Nebojša Prijić

Twisted Metal was the game everyone wanted to play when I was a kid. It had cool-looking characters (Sweet Tooth!), great music, and, most importantly, great gameplay. Having a chance to revisit Twisted Metal 2 was a nostalgia trip I didn't know I needed. But as soon as I started playing, I remembered that I used to use Twisted Metal: World Tour cheat codes.

Twisted Metal 2 codes gave me precisely what I needed; a way to enjoy the game from my childhood without stress. Those old games were challenging, and I just wanted to feel that apocalyptic demolition derby atmosphere again. I got all weapons, levels, hidden characters (Minion!), and god mode using codes. If you're more into classic racing, try Asphalt 9 Codes and enjoy a game without violent clowns.

How to get more Twisted Metal 2 codes

Twisted Metal 2 is a game that initially came out for PlayStation 1, so don't expect any updates, at least not for this original version. The only way to get more cheat codes is to wait if someone makes a Twisted Metal: World Tour Remake. I'll be more than glad to play that game, but I won't hold my breath.

Why are my Twisted Metal 2 codes not working?

The only reason why Twisted Metal 2 codes don't work is an input error. All codes are checked, so all you have to do is to be careful while entering TM2 codes. Remember that some codes only work in certain places, especially for unlocking secret characters.

What is Twisted Metal 2?

Twisted Metal 2, also known as Twisted Metal: World Tour, is an action game where you fight in the arena. It's very similar to demolition derby motorsport, but with a twist, pun intended. Here you're looking to destroy opponents with a wide selection of weapons. The game has a fascinating story, but you can ignore it and focus on crashing into cars. Don't worry; you can't lose if you use Twisted Metal 2 cheat codes!

Welcome to the Twisted Metal 2 Trophy guide!

4/10 Estimated Difficulty 2 – 5 Estimated Hours to Completion 1 Minimum Playthrough – with several final level replays 0 Missable Trophies/Achievements

  • Twisted Metal 1 Trophy Guide

To start things off, use any character to beat the story. You will need to beat the full game at least once. There are level specific Trophies that you’ll need to earn during that step. But after you have beaten the game at least once, you can then input codes that will take you straight to the final boss. Each character has their own code to input for this. Those codes can be found down below in the Trophy guide. The level select codes do not disable Trophies.

If you happen to miss any of the level specific Trophies, you can select “Challenge Match” from the main menu and load up any level to replay them.

Make your own checkpoint

Just like with the previous PS Classics,  Twisted Metal 2  allows you to press Options and rewind gameplay as well as make saves anywhere.

This makes the game incredibly easy to get through. If at any point you die, mess something up or take too much damage. You can press Options to rewind your gameplay and try whatever you did again. You can essentially make this a trial and error system.

Unfortunately, the god mode method has been patched and no longer works.

Starting a level with codes active will now disable Trophies.

You CAN however still use the level select codes to reach the final boss.

Iconic 80s rock band shocks fans by teasing return from retirement

Dee Snider, Eddie Ojeda, Jay Jay French, Mike Mendoza and Mike Portnoy of Twisted Sister

80s heavy metal legends Twisted Sister are currently facing a tempting proposition to reunite, potentially marking a return to the spotlight.

The band, known for hits like We’re Not Gonna Take It, formed in 1976 and officially disbanded in 2016 after concluding their ’40 and F*** It’ farewell tour.

They reunited briefly for a single performance at the Metal Hall of Fame in January 2023 but have otherwise remained out of the spotlight.

But according to front man Dee Snider , 69, the New Jersey band may reform after all – for the right price.

Snider has previously been unwavering in his commitment to retirement, firmly stating in an interview last year, ‘I’m a man of my word, and I said that we were retiring in 2016. And that’s it.’

But it seems that a lucrative enough offer may just change the rocker’s mind.

Twisted Sister

In a recent interview with the Hook Rocks podcast , Snider hinted at a potential reunion, acknowledging the allure of substantial offers.

‘As a result of all the bands retiring and dying, the offers get bigger and bigger for the holdouts to come back,’ he said.

‘We retired in 2016, so we’re on eight years now of not playing, with no intention of coming back. But my father, he says, “Everything before the word ‘but’ is bulls**t” – but at some point you’ve gotta say, “Well how can I say no to that?”‘

Portrait of American Heavy Metal singer Dee Snider, of the group Twisted Sister

Snider further disclosed ongoing discussions with fellow band members to strategize a potential comeback plan.

‘There’s a little bit of that conversation,’ he revealed. ‘And that’s both physically how we’re gonna do it and on a number of other levels.’

Since their last performance in 2016, Snider has focused on his solo career, releasing two studio albums: For the Love of Metal in 2018 and Leave A Scar thereafter.

Twisted Sister

However, his recent admission of being ‘done’ with solo albums in 2023 suggests a potential inclination towards reuniting with his former bandmates.

With the prospect of a Twisted Sister reunion looming, fans eagerly await further developments, poised for a potential resurgence of the iconic heavy metal outfit that once dominated the 80s music scene.

The final lineup of the band was assembled in 1982 and included Jay Jay French on guitar, Eddie ‘Fingers’ Ojeda also on the guitar, Dee Snider as the front man, Mark ‘The Animal’ Mendoza on the bass, and A. J. Pero on the drums.

The band achieved mainstream success with their third album, Stay Hungry in 1984, and its single We’re Not Gonna Take It, which was their only Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
