USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B)

  • View history

The USS Enterprise ( NCC-1701-B ), sometimes referred to as the Enterprise -B , was a Federation Excelsior -class explorer in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries . She was launched in the year 2293 under the command of Captain John Harriman . She was later commanded by William George , Demora Sulu and Thomas Johnson Jr. .

Over the course of the Enterprise -B's service, she was remembered as a key figure in exploring beyond the Gourami sector , mapping over 142 star systems and making first contact with 17 different civilizations. The Enterprise served as flagship of the Federation. The Enterprise -B was also the first Federation starship Enterprise in 30 years that did not have Captain James T. Kirk in command of the vessel. History [ ]

Construction [ ].

The Enterprise was built at the Antares Ship Yards ; the decision to model the ship after the failed experiment USS Excelsior was highly controversial. However, Starfleet decided to use it for both economic and technical reasons, as Excelsior classes had shown that they could withstand the test of time; indeed, they would still be in service nearly a century after first being developed. ( ST reference : Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual , TNG video game : Future's Past : Library Computer)

Maiden voyage [ ]

USS Enterprise-B caught in nexus

The Enterprise -B trapped in the Nexus .

By 2293, construction work on the Enterprise had been completed, with only a few components needing to be installed such as a tractor beam and the loading of photon torpedoes . Despite this, the Enterprise -B was launched from a drydock orbiting Earth on a maiden voyage with three honored guests aboard in the form of Captains James T. Kirk and Montgomery Scott and Commander Pavel Chekov , as well as a large number of journalists .

Although the maiden voyage was just meant to be a short trip out to Pluto and back again, the Enterprise received a distress call from two Federation transport ships who were bringing El-Aurian refugees back to Earth. Although not fully equipped, there were no other vessels in range, and Captain Harriman reluctantly gave the order to intercept them. Upon arrival, the Enterprise discovered that the transports had become trapped in an energy ribbon called the Nexus , and the starship herself became ensnared in when moving into transporter range. Unfortunately, the Enterprise was too late to help the crew of one transport, the SS Robert Fox , as it exploded and was only able to rescue 47 people out of 150 aboard the SS Lakul , before it too was destroyed.

Captain Scott devised a way to free the ship using a resonance burst from the deflector dish to simulate an antimatter explosion, after a plan to use torpedoes was discarded, as there weren't any on board. Captain Kirk went to deflector control in order to make the necessary modifications as the Enterprise 's secondary hull was struck by an energy tendril. The Enterprise escaped with minor casualties and a major hull breach along sections 20 through 28 on decks 13 through 15. Kirk was believed killed in the breach, and the mission became notorious due to his loss. ( TNG movie , novelization & comic adaptation : Generations )

An inquiry that followed cleared Harriman of any blame, although several former members of Kirk's crew held him to account. ( TOS novel : The Captain's Daughter )

Enterprise-B plaque

Captain Harriman shows Spock the James T. Kirk memorial dedication plaque.

At some point by approximately 2294 , Harriman would have a dedication plaque for Kirk installed in the area of the ship where he was at the time believed to be killed. ( ST comic : " Spock: Reflections, Issue 1 ")

After obtaining a B'rel -class Klingon bird-of-prey , the Montgomery Scott of the future traveled back in time from 2370 to 2293 to transport Kirk off the Enterprise -B at the moment where he was believed lost, but the action caused an alternate timeline to form, erasing the Federation from history. The timeline was restored when Kirk was returned to the Nexus. ( Star Trek novel : Engines of Destiny )

Service history [ ]

Enterprise-B Antares

In 2294, the Enterprise -B destroys a renegade Klingon battlecruiser in the Antares system.

In early 2294, during its first mission following the loss of Captain Kirk six months previously, the Enterprise -B was sent to deal with an outbreak of Terrellian plague in the Antares system, with Doctor Leonard McCoy onboard as chief medical advisor. En route, the starship confronted a renegade Klingon warship, the K't'inga -class IKS Vengeance , whose captain intentionally released the plague to lure the Federation into violating Article 6 of the recent Khitomer Accords . Harriman defeated the enemy ship by transporter-swapping the Enterprise' s entire complement of photon torpedoes for the Klingon crew . The battlecruiser was then destroyed, and the enemy crew captured. ( Captain's Log comic : " Captain's Log: Harriman ")

After the losses of its maiden voyage, the Enterprise was commanded by Captain William George for a deep-space tour beyond the Gourami sector that mapped 142 star systems, and made 17 first contacts. In the late 2290s decade , Captain Harriman again assumed command of the Enterprise . ( ST reference : USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )

At some point during or after 2293, an Enterprise -B landing party under the command of Ensign Demora Sulu marched into an ambush by the Brevant race on Beta Orvis III , with Sulu nearly paying for her mistake with her life. ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

In 2303 , Captain John Harriman and Lieutenant Commander Demora Sulu departed the Enterprise -B at Starbase 23 under the guise of personal leave, but secretly were headed toward the Romulan Star Empire on a covert mission for Starfleet Intelligence . The mission was to monitor for indications of advanced cloaking technology within Romulan space. Command of the starship was turned over to Captain Demián Rendón while Harriman and Sulu were gone. For eight weeks, the two became displaced some 173 hours into the future due to a temporal encounter with a star designated " Odyssey ". After this displacement, Harriman and Sulu returned to Starbase 23, via the Foxtrot III monitoring station, and re-took command of the Enterprise . ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

In 2307 , the Enterprise underwent a rather extensive refit at Starbase 11 , in an effort to bring it up to standards in respect to the new Romulan Ivarix -class vessels. Several significant crew-transfers took place: among them the arrival of Boslic officer Xintal Linojj . At some point during this same year, both the Enterprise and Excelsior crews shared an overlapping shore leave at Starbase 11. Not long afterward, the Enterprise' s refit was completed, and the starship returned to active status. ( TLE novels : Serpents Among the Ruins , One Constant Star )

Enterprise-B Qadyaq

In 2310, the Enterprise -B orbits the Klingon planet Qadyaq while on a relief mission

Three years later, in 2310 , as part of relief efforts stipulated in the Khitomer Accords , the Enterprise -B delivered supplies to four thousand indigents on the planet Qadyaq , in coordination with Commander Kang aboard the IKS K'tanco . However, upon arrival, Captain Harriman's crew discovered the planetary population held in thrall of a corrupt Klingon governor , who refused to accept the relief supplies. The next day, both the Starfleet and Klingon vessels were shocked to discover the entire planet massacred by the governor — their throats slit — simply because they proved a risk to his crooked schemes. Filled with disgust, Harriman's ship departed Klingon space. ( Alien Spotlight comic : " Four Thousand Throats... ")

Captain Harriman remained in command of Enterprise until 2311 , when the ship played a key role during the Tomed Incident . Following the incident, Harriman stepped down, and command was given to his first officer, Demora Sulu . ( TLE novel : Serpents Among the Ruins )

In 2311, on her very first mission as captain of the Enterprise -B, Demora Sulu ran into unspecified trouble during a voyage to the Röntgen Wall . ( ST - The Lost Era novels : Serpents Among the Ruins , One Constant Star )

At some point not long after the Tomed Incident, the Enterprise -B crew under Sulu's command spent two years studying the Debrune ruins in the Barradas system. This mission presumably lasted until no later than 2315. ( ST reference : USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )

Sulu's first command of Enterprise lasted until 2315 , when she took a leave of absence to care for her terminally-ill paternal grandmother. During this leave, the Enterprise set off on a year-long exploration mission, which became wildly successful, and earned the new captain a promotion to Admiral . Sulu returned to the ship, and remained in command for several years thereafter. ( TLE short story : " Iron and Sacrifice ")

On a mission to a moon in Desidera's Loop aboard the Enterprise -B prior to 2319 , Demora Sulu narrowly escaped death by both drowning and hypothermia. ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

In 2318 , the Enterprise -B under Captain Demora Sulu's command, participated in a first contact mission on Beta Velara IV , but without the participation of freshly-certified contact specialist Hawkins Young . ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

Starting in either late 2318 or early 2319, the Enterprise was assigned to explore an unclaimed, unaligned region of space near the Tzenkethi Coalition , and was ordered to avoid all contact when possible with Tzenkethi ships. With no return-date specified, the starship conducted exploratory missions in the region, equipped with a dozen Class H shuttlecraft , two Gagarin -class warp shuttles and a half-dozen cargo-management units. Two months into the voyage, a massive construct was discovered in the Jalidor Lambda star system , whose exploration ultimately cost the Enterprise , among other things, the loss of a shuttlecraft, the Eriksson . ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

Ten months passed by when the Enterprise discovered the planet Rejarris II located within this region, and, planetside, an interdimensional portal whose previous activation in 2308 resulted in the loss of the USS Excelsior . Attempting to rescue a stranded crewman on a planet located in a parallel universe on the other side of the portal, Captain Demora Sulu herself became trapped, along with two of Enterprise' s shuttlecraft (the Amundsen and Pytheas ). In an attempt to mount a rescue mission, involving the Enterprise and the USS Cassiopeia , Admiral Harriman used the Cassiopeia to destroy the Rejarris portal before an overwhelming Tzenkethi attack forces could claim it and cross over and board the Enterprise . Both Demora and Hikaru Sulu, as well as over five hundred stranded Excelsior crew, were rescued. The Enterprise -B ultimately returned to its home universe (albeit some three weeks prior to the original discovery of the portal) after eleven months of transition-time using the "Odyssey" star. ( ST - The Lost Era novel : One Constant Star )

The ship's last commander was Captain Thomas Johnson Jr. , who took command in the early 2320s . The ship's assignment under Johnson was patrol of the Cardassian border. The ship was therefore able to render assistance to Bajoran refugees in 2328 , when Cardassia annexed Bajor . The following year , the ship was lost in deep space shortly after the crew contracted some unknown infection. ( ST reference : USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )

Attack Wing Wave 26 Preview -- U.S.S. Enterprise-B

uss enterprise star trek b

This September, WizKids/NECA will release Star Trek: Attack Wing Wave 26 , and StarTrek.com has the exclusive First Look at the ships in the upcoming expansion packs, concluding with the U.S.S. Enterprise-B.

The U.S.S. Enterprise-B is a Federation Excelsior-class ship. On its maiden voyage, the Enterprise-B, under the command of Captain John Harriman, rescued 47 El-Aurian refugees from a Federation transport ship that was caught in an energy distortion. Honored quest, James T. Kirk was believed to be killed during the rescue when the ship’s hull was breached.

uss enterprise star trek b

This version of U.S.S. Enterprise designated NCC-1701-B is a worthy successor and deserves the name Enterprise. With a Primary Weapon Value of 3, 1 Agility, 5 Hull, and 4 Shields this ship is similar to the original U.S.S. Enterprise and subsequent U.S.S. Enterprise-A (Refit), but with some obvious improvements. The special ability for the U.S.S. Enterprise-B allows you to replace one of its Battle Stations, Scan or blue Target Lock tokens that is beside your ship with an Evade Token. The generic version of this ship loses one Shield and one Crew Upgrade Slot compared to the named version.

The Captain in the U.S.S. Enterprise-B Expansion Pack is John Harriman. A level 2 Captain, John Harriman may be inexperienced but is a brave Captain nonetheless. His ability allows your ship to perform an Evade Action as a free Action. If you do this, you then place an Auxiliary Power Token beside your ship. Despite his rough start as a new Captain, John Harriman is a great addition to any evasive fleet that is looking to try and avoid danger at all costs.

No ship named Enterprise would be complete without a Sulu at the Helm. The U.S.S. Enterprise-B boasts Demora Sulu, the daughter of Hikaru Sulu, as Helmswoman.

If your ship is hit, after the Deal Damage phase, you may discard this card to immediately execute a maneuver from your Maneuver Dial with a speed of 3 or less. Following in her father’s footsteps, Demora Sulu will make sure she keeps the ship out of the path of danger.

uss enterprise star trek b

Other upgrades to the U.S.S. Enterprise-B include Improved Phasers which is a 4 dice attack at Range 2-3. This attack is treated as a Primary Weapon and places 2 Time Tokens on the card when you perform the attack. In terms of defense, Deflector Control allows you to Repair 1 Shield Token on your ship or flip up 3 of your disabled Shield Tokens over to their Active sides. You cannot use this Action if your ship is Cloaked.

Resonance Burst is a Tech Upgrade that allows you to target a ship within your forward firing arc and Range 1 of your ship. The target ship must then discard 1 Token (Evade, Battle Stations, Scan or Target Lock) that is beside it, of its choice. If there is a Cloak Token beside the target ship, flip it over to its red side.

uss enterprise star trek b

Holo-Communicator allows you to target a friendly ship within Range 1-2. If you do so, you may perform the Action listed on that ship’s Captain Card.

One of the great advantages Federation ships have is the ability to move backwards. Full Reverse makes this ability even better. During the Activation Phase, if you reveal a [Reverse] Maneuver, you may disable this card to add 1 to the speed of that maneuver. No other ship has ever been able to make a 3 reverse maneuver, making the U.S.S. Enterprise-B a one of a kind ship.

The U.S.S. Enterprise-B Expansion Pack is fresh out of dry dock and ready for you to take the helm. Try your luck with the special scenario “Maiden Voyage” and attempt to aid two Federation transport ships before they are destroyed by the energy distortion ribbon. Do you have what it takes to be the Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise-B?

History and Service [ ]

The Enterprise -B, under the command of Captain John Harriman , was launched from a drydock orbiting Earth in 2293 . For her maiden voyage, a short trip between Earth and Pluto , were a group of journalists and three special guests, Captains James T. Kirk and Montgomery Scott and Commander Pavel Chekov , who had all served aboard the previous USS Enterprise .

As the Enterprise got underway, they received a distress call from two transports who were bringing El-Aurian refugees to Earth. Despite the Enterprise lacking several vital elements such as photon torpedoes or medical staff, Harriman ordered the ship to proceed at maximum warp . On arrival, they found the two transports trapped inside the Nexus and, in attempting to rescue the refugees, became trapped herself. After rescuing as many survivors as they were able before both transports exploded, Kirk proceeded to alter the ship's deflector dish to produce a resonance burst and allowed the Enterprise to escape. Unfortunately, the ship was hit by a tendril of energy from the Nexus, and the section of the hull that Kirk was in was exposed to space . ( Star Trek Generations )

Amongst the El-Aurians rescued by the Enterprise were Doctor Tolian Soran , Guinan , and the parents of Jesse Erixon and Keran Azhan . ( Star Trek Generations ; Star Trek: Pendragon ; Star Trek: Intrepid )

In 2299 , the Enterprise -B drove off a Klingon attack against the Kamura V colony . ( Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era )

The Enterprise -B was heavily involved in the Tomed Incident of 2311 , after which Captain Harriman relinquished his command and left starship duty. Former first officer Demora Sulu was promoted to captain and assumed command of the Enterprise . ( TLE novel: Serpents Among the Ruins )

In the 2320s , the Enterprise was under the command of Captain Thomas Johnson, Jr. and stationed along the Federation-Cardassian border . In 2328 , the Enterprise and her crew assisted Bajoran refugees when the Cardassian Union annexed Bajor . ( ST reference : USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )

The Enterprise -B left active service sometime prior to 2332 , when the Ambassador -class USS Enterprise -C was launched. ( Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual , TLE novel: The Art of the Impossible , Well of Souls )

Final fate [ ]

  • In 2307 , the Enterprise -B was lost with all hands under classified circumstances. ( Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era )
  • In 2329 , the Enterprise -B was lost in deep space with all hands after the crew contracted a mysterious illness ( USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )
  • Circa 2353 (or reference stardate 2/9208.12), the Enterprise -B engaged in battle with two warships of the Imperial Klingon States in the Triangle . Though the Enterprise destroyed the Klingon vessels, she suffered catastrophic damage in the battle and was destroyed. ( FASA RPG : Star Trek: The Next Generation Officers' Manual )

Fanon continuities [ ]

Orion press [ ].

James T. Kirk 's apparent death during the maiden voyage of the Enterprise -B was a public relations nightmare for Starfleet.

Several Starfleet admirals resigned, including then- Commander-in-Chief William Smillie , the Chief of Starfleet Operations and the Chief of Starfleet Public Relations .

Pavel Chekov was named the Enterprise -B's commanding officer; Nyota Uhura was exec; and Christine Chapel chief medical officer. ( Chekov's Enterprise )

At the end of 2295 , Chekov was promoted to fleet captain and became commanding officer of the Sixth Fleet . Thus, the Enterprise -B became the flagship of the Sixth, which was tasked with the exploration of the Beta Quadrant on a seven-year mission. (" New Orders ")

Team Chipmunk: The Next Generation vs. Star Trek: Omega Force [ ]

The Enterprise -B was lost with all hands in 2329 , with their last transmission to Starfleet noting that members of their crew had contracted a dangerous infection. ( USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual )

Members of the crew of the USS Yagami discovered the Enterprise -B while searching for an anomalous energy signature in the dimension belonging to the United Galactic Federation in 2380 . ( Team Chipmunk: The Next Generation vs. Star Trek: Omega Force : "Three Stars in the Night")

Following a battle with the evil Decepticon robots in which their original vessel, the SS Ponyo , was destroyed, Stargazer Seville and her friends and allies were given ownership of the Enterprise -B under the terms of the Nagano-Miyake Compact . ( Team Chipmunk: The Next Generation vs. Star Trek: Omega Force : " Beyond the Edge of Forever ")

Data, son of Soong [ ]

In an alternate timeline where Data was raised by the Klingon Empire and Klingon Defence Force , the Enterprise -B had been lost after the crew fell victim to a plague. The Chalnoth salvaged the ship along with Avenger (NX-09) and used them for piracy .

The Yattho , a Xindi-Insectioid offshoot who had gained precognitive powers, predicted the Chalnoth would attack them. They invited the Klingons to test the new IKS Vor'cha in their space as a result. During the battle, the Vor'cha 's temporary captain , Kurn , hoped to return the ship to the Federation , but it was destroyed when the IKS Pagh damaged the engines, and several Yattho ships pounced on it. Star Trek’s USS Enterprise – every version of the starship explained

From Kirk's adventures to horizons new with Seven of Nine, the USS Enterprise has a long story. The best Star Trek starship, we've compiled its timeline below.

Star Trek's USS Enterprise explained - A and D, and Shatner as Kirk

James Osborne

Published: Aug 20, 2023

The history and timeline of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise, explained. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise… you know the rest.

Since it began in 1966, Star Trek has been tracking the adventures of the USS Enterprise right the way through the Star Trek timeline . Some spin-off Star Trek series , like DS9, Voyager, Discovery, and Lower Decks, have directed their focus elsewhere on other ships (or stations), but the USS Enterprise is still synonymous with the franchise.

The USS Enterprise is undoubtedly the best Star Trek starship to ever grace our screens. And the beauty of it is whether you’re still in love with Kirk’s original ship, or if you have a soft spot for Picard’s Enterprise-D, the USS Enterprise’s long history has something for everyone. We’re now on to the Enterprise-G , introduced in the recent Star Trek Picard season 3, and it can be hard to keep track of the evolution of Starfleet’s flagship. No longer! Here’s the complete timeline of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise , showing its aesthetic evolution, important dates, and captains.

Star Trek's Enterprise NX01

Enterprise (NX-01)

  • Active between: 2151-2161
  • Captains: Jonathan Archer
  • Class: NX-class

The first starship Enterprise, and the only version not to bear the prefix ‘USS’. The beautiful NX-01 established United Earth as an inter-planetary power to be taken seriously, exploring the Alpha and Beta quadrants, and paving the way for the creation of the Federation.

Led by Captain Jonathan Archer and manned by a small and specialized crew, the Enterprise was vital in beginning diplomatic relations with the Tellarites, Andorians, Klingons, and more. The ship’s missions also included the search for the Xindi, who posed a great threat to Earth. After the ship was finally recalled, its crew members were hailed as legendary heroes.

Star Trek's Enterprise original

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)

  • Active between: 2245-2285
  • Captains: Robert April, Christopher Pike, James T. Kirk, Will Decker, Spock
  • Class: Constitution class; Constitution-II class (refit)

The pioneering adventures of the USS Enterprise began under the command of Captain Robert April with its launch in 2245. After April accepted a promotion to the rank of Admiral, he transferred command to Christopher Pike who led the ship on exploratory and diplomatic missions across the galaxy.

After over a decade in the captain’s chair, Pike stepped aside. James T. Kirk transferred from the USS Farragut in order to take command of the flagship alongside his first officer Spock . They led the crew on a five-year mission of exploration, during which Kirk made first contact with a record number of alien species.

Star Trek's Enterprise in Search for Spock

Following on from the success of his period as a captain, Kirk was promoted and chose Will Decker as his successor. Along with Scotty , who remained the ship’s chief engineer, Decker oversaw a huge refit of the USS Enterprise, which was completed as the V’Ger incident began.

After V’ger, Spock assumed command of the USS Enterprise as its captain, and the ship became a training vessel for cadets. Kirk stepped into the chair once again during the battle with Khan, and took the USS Enterprise back to drydock after Spock’s death. As the ship was being repaired, Kirk stole the USS Enterprise with the help of his crew in order to resurrect Spock, but during this mission the USS Enterprise was destroyed in a confrontation with the Klingon Kruge.

Star Trek's Enterprise A

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-A)

  • Active between: 2286-2293
  • Captains: James T. Kirk
  • Class: Constitution-II class

Following on from the destruction of the Enterprise and the demotion of Admiral Kirk, a new Enterprise was constructed for the now-captain to command. The Enterprise-A had a short service history, with only seven years worth of missions.

These included the journey to Sha Ka Ree and, most importantly, its final mission to negotiate peace with Klingon Chancellor Gorkon. After internal sabotage, the USS Enterprise-A became embroiled in a plot to wreck the peace process, though played a vital role in the eventual signing of the Khitomer Accords prior to being decommissioned.

Star Trek's Enterprise B

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B)

  • Active between: 2293-unconfirmed
  • Captains: John Harriman
  • Class: Excelsior class

Only a year after the Enterprise-A was decommissioned, the Enterprise-B was launched before technical work had been completed, with Captain John Harriman leading the new ship. Its early launch was primarily for the sake of publicity, however the ship was quickly drawn into an energy distortion field called the Nexus while responding to an emergency distress call.

This led to massive damage on the ship, and the presumed death of James T. Kirk who was aboard the Enterprise-B for its launch. The history of Harriman’s command, and of the ship following on from the Nexus incident, is largely unknown.

Star Trek's Enterprise C

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-C)

  • Active between: unconfirmed-2344
  • Captains: Rachel Garrett
  • Class: Ambassador class

The USS Enterprise-C is one of the most significant ships in Starfleet history. Not only is it the first version of the Enterprise to be permanently captained by a woman, Rachel Garrett (one of the best Star Trek captains ), it’s also the ship which prevented the outbreak of a new Federation-Klingon war through brave self-sacrifice.

While responding to a distress call from the Klingon outpost Narendra III (which was under attack by Romulans), the Enterprise-C was sucked into a temporal rift which brought it into the future. However, in this future, the Klingons and the Federation were locked in a desperate and bloody battle which had claimed 40 billion lives.

To prevent the war and correct the timeline, the Enterprise-C was sent back through the temporal rift. It sacrificed itself at Narendra III defending the outpost against Romulan aggressors, which the Klingons saw as a pivotal act of bravery. The ship was completely destroyed, however, along with its crew.

Star Trek's Enterprise D

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D)

  • Active between: 2363-2371; 2401
  • Captains: Jean-Luc Picard, Edward Jellico
  • Class: Galaxy class

20 years after the sacrifice of the Enterprise-C, the Galaxy class Enterprise-D was launched as Starfleet’s flagship. The ship was under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard for the vast majority of its service history (barring a brief period of command by Captain Jellico during Picard’s mission to Celtris III), during which time first contact was made with numerous powerful alien species including the Q Continuum, the Borg, and the Cytherians.

Decades after its destruction, the Enterprise-D was rebuilt by Geordi La Forge at Starfleet museum, and in 2401 the reconstructed ship was vital in the final battle with the Borg.

Star Trek's Enterprise E

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E)

  • Active between: 2372-unconfirmed
  • Captains: Jean-Luc Picard, Worf son of Mogh
  • Class: Sovereign class

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was assigned command of the USS Enterprise-E, a state-of-the-art Sovereign class ship, after the destruction of the D. The Enterprise-E led many significant missions, with the time-travel to Earth’s past to prevent interference from the Borg being (arguably) the most pivotal.

In Star Trek Picard season 3, it’s confirmed that Worf was promoted to the rank of captain and took command of the USS Enterprise-E at some point after Picard became an Admiral in 2381. However, Worf was also blamed for the ship’s destruction, indicating that the USS Enterprise-E’s service history came to an end under his command at an unspecified date.

Star Trek's Enterprise F

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-F)

  • Active between: Unconfirmed-2401
  • Captains: Elizabeth Shelby
  • Class: Odyssey class

The service history of the USS Enterprise-F, an Odyssey class ship, remains the most ambiguous to date. The ship is only seen just before it is decommissioned in Picard season 3 under the command of Fleet Admiral Shelby prior to the Borg attack Sol Station. This attack led to the death of Shelby, and the F was decommissioned as planned in 2401.

Star Trek's Enterprise G

USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-G)

  • Active between: 2402-unconfirmed
  • Captains: Seven of Nine
  • Class: Neo-Constitution class

In 2402, the USS Titan-A was rechristened as the Enterprise-G and command was handed to the newly promoted Seven of Nine. Previously, while still the Titan, the ship had been commanded by Captain Liam Shaw .

What’s next for the USS Enterprise?

The adventures of the USS Enterprise look set to continue into the 25th century, with Captain Seven of Nine at the helm and Commander Raffi by her side. Should we ever get a Star Trek Legacy release date , we’ll see what these adventures look like, and the continuing voyages of the USS Enterprise.

The history and legacy of the USS Enterprise looks set to continue as long as there are new letters in the alphabet.

USS Enterprise-B

From star trek: theurgy wiki.

The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) was a Federation Excelsior-class starship operated by Starfleet in the late 23 rd and early 24 th century. It was the third Federation Starfleet vessel to bear the name Enterprise .

On stardate 9715.5, in the year 2293, the Enterprise -B was commissioned early for its maiden voyage was mainly a shakedown cruise with honored guests and journalists aboard for publicity reasons. Its first commanding officer was Captain John Harriman . Shortly after launching from a drydock orbiting Earth, it received a distress call from two Federation transport ships, the SS Lakul and the SS Robert Fox . The ships, which were carrying El-Aurian refugees, had become trapped in an energy distortion called the Nexus . Because the Enterprise -B lacked equipment necessary to rescue the ships, the Robert Fox was destroyed before the Enterprise could transport its passengers. Only 47 survivors were brought aboard from the Lakul before it, too, was destroyed. ( Star Trek Generations )

The number rescued increased to 48 when one of the refugees gave birth to a half- human baby boy who was later named Ekon Okotie-Eboh .

(So far it has not been revealed how long the USS Enterprise -B served Starfleet , but it no longer in service by the 2330’s.

In 2016, after almost two years of extensive research and meticulous conservation, USS Enterprise NCC-1701 studio model from the television show Star Trek, went on display in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall.

The studio model was used for filming the original Star Trek television series, which aired from 1966 to 1969. The Museum’s goal was to stabilize the model, document its history of changes, and return it to the appearance it had during the August 1967 filming of the episode “The Trouble with Tribbles,” which marked the last known modification of the model during Star Trek’s production.

Along the way we:

  • Assembled an advisory team of industry experts
  • Performed an in-depth scientific analysis of the model’s composition
  • Revealed construction details and documented the chronology of paint layers and markings
  • Analyzed the original paint under the saucer bolt cover
  • Were helped by fans who submitted photos of the model from 1964 through 1976
  • And even hosted “Nerd Camp”

You can follow our journey here and uncover, from paint to hardware, everything we know about the starship Enterprise model.

The studio model of the  Star Trek  starship  Enterprise  is now on exhibit in the  Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall . After taking it off exhibit in 2014 , assembling a  special advisory committee , examining it using  x-ray radiography , searching out long-lost photos , and planning the work in great detail , months of hard work culminated in several weeks of painting, detail work, rewiring, and final assembly. In the end, the whole project was a tremendous collaboration.

Stardate 1601.28: After a year of extensive research, conservation work on the original studio model of the USS Enterprise is now underway in the Museum’s spacedock.

You can help. Conservators at the Emil Buehler Conservation Laboratory are working to restore the original, 11-foot studio model of the USS Enterprise , used in all 79 episodes of the television series Star Trek , to its appearance from August of 1967. We are looking for first-hand, primary source photos or film of the ship’s early years. Images of the model during production or on public display anytime between 1964 and 1976 will help conservators determine the model’s exact configuration at different stages of its journey.

The door was locked, but a swipe of a security access card rewarded us with a satisfying “click.” Someone pushed the double doors open and we stepped into the laboratory. We paused for the briefest instant as my eyes, and those of my fellow campers, were transfixed on the object on the other side of the room: The Starship Enterprise from the original Star Trek series.

Who do you call when you need to know everything there is to know about the Star Trek starship Enterprise ?

When the National Air and Space Museum opened in 1976, the production model of the Starship Enterprise was prominently and dramatically displayed hanging at the entrance of “Life in the Universe” gallery. Later, when that gallery closed, and the starship was moved to several other locations within the museum.

The original studio model of the Starship Enterprise used in the television series "Star Trek" came to the Smithsonian Institution thirty-five years ago, donated by Paramount Studios in 1974.

Star Trek Has Finally Revealed the Evil Enterprise's Weird Fate

Watch out for any goatees.

uss enterprise star trek b

Today, everyone knows what a multiverse is. But back in 1967, parallel universe stories weren’t nearly as common as they are now, even within the sci-fi genre. A classic Star Trek episode, Jerome Bixby’s “Mirror, Mirror,” helped popularize the alternate universe trope, complete with meaner versions of yourself who may rock an evil little goatee like Mirror Spock.

Star Trek’s Mirror Universe also gave us an alternate version of the USS Enterprise in the ISS Enterprise , a ship that served the Imperial Terran Empire, not the United Federation of Planets. Now, in the Discovery Season 5 episode “Mirrors,” the evil ISS Enterprise is back... as a force for good. Here’s what it all means. Spoilers ahead.

The ISS Enterprise returns

Burnham looks at the ISS Enterprise in 'Discovery' Season 5

Captain Burnham watches the ISS Enterprise warp to Federation HQ.

While pursuing the thieves Moll and L’ak, Book and Burnham take a shuttlecraft into an unstable wormhole and discover the floating, pseudo-derelict ISS Enterprise . One of the clues to the Progenitor’s tech has been hidden on it, but for Burnham, it’s kind of like a bizzaro universe homecoming. Burnham spent a decent amount of time in the Mirror Universe in Discovery Season 1 , and in Season 2 she found herself on the Enterprise with her brother Spock just before jumping from the 23rd century to the 32nd century.

In “Mirrors,” Burnham notes that “crossing between universes has been impossible for centuries,” which means the ISS Enterprise must have crossed over into the Prime Universe well before the 32nd century. Burnham is referencing the events of Discovery Season 3, when we learned that Philippa Georgiou, a resident of the Mirror Universe, couldn’t go back to her home universe because those dimensions had drifted apart. But the ISS Enterprise , which was previously captained by an evil Kirk, crossed over into the Prime Universe well before that moment, and Discovery has now added details connecting The Original Series, Deep Space Nine , and Discovery Season 3.

How evil Spock became good

Mirror Spock talks to Kirk in the 'Star Trek' episode "Mirror, Mirror.'

Spock talking with Kirk in “Mirror, Mirror.”

In the Deep Space Nine episode “Crossover” we learn that after Kirk talked to Mirror Spock and encouraged him to try making the Terran Empire a peaceful power, Mirror Spock did just that. But as Mirror Kira explained, Mirror Spock’s idealism didn’t work out the way he’d hoped:

“Spock rose to Commander in Chief of the Empire by preaching reforms, disarmament, peace. It was quite a remarkable turnabout for his people. Unfortunately for them, when Spock had completed all these reforms, his empire was no longer in any position to defend itself against us [the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance].”

Discovery appears to be referencing this exact event, even if Spock isn’t named outright. When Book learns the ISS Enterprise became a refugee ship for people who’d turned against the Empire, he says, “The Terran High Chancellor was killed for trying to make reforms.”

This likely references Spock, but adds the twist that he was perhaps betrayed by other people within the Terran Empire, even if Earth adopted his reforms. Now, by the end of “Mirrors,” the 23rd-century ISS Enterprise has been moved to the Prime Universe and the 32nd century. It’s an antique by modern standards, but it’s a contemporary of the USS Discovery, so it’s still serviceable. This means that by the end of Discovery Season 5 there will still be a version of the classic Enterprise floating around Federation headquarters, so when the Starfleet Academy series debuts, 32nd-century Starfleet cadets will have access to the classic version of the most famous Enterprise. It may technically be an evil twin, but its historic adventures aren’t over just yet.

DALLAS (AP) — The first model of the USS Enterprise — used in the opening credits of the original “Star Trek” television series — has boldly gone back home, returning to creator Gene Roddenberry’s son decades after it went missing.

The model’s disappearance sometime in the 1970s had become the subject of lore, so it caused a stir when it popped up on eBay last fall. The sellers quickly took it down, and then contacted Dallas-based Heritage Auctions to authenticate it. Last weekend, the auction house facilitated the model’s return.

Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment, said he’s thrilled to have the model that had graced the desk of his father, who died in 1991 at age 70.

“This is not going home to adorn my shelves,” Roddenberry said. “This is going to get restored and we’re working on ways to get it out so the public can see it and my hope is that it will land in a museum somewhere.”

AP correspondent Margie Szaroleta reports on the return of the original model of the USS Enterprise from the TV show “Star Trek.”

Heritage’s executive vice president, Joe Maddalena, said the auction house was contacted by people who said they’d discovered it a storage unit, and when it was brought into their Beverly Hills office, he and a colleague “instantly knew that it was the real thing.”

This photo provided by CBS News shows Dan Rather with CBS correspondent Lee Cowan during an interview on “CBS Sunday Morning." Rather returned to the CBS News airwaves Sunday, April 28, 2024, for the first time since his bitter exit 18 years ago, appearing in a reflective interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” days before the debut of a Netflix documentary on the 92-year-old newsman's life. (CBS News via AP)

They reached out to Roddenberry, who said he appreciates that everyone involved agreed returning the model was the right thing to do. He wouldn’t go into details on the agreement reached but said “I felt it important to reward that and show appreciation for that.”

Maddalena said the model vanished in the 1970s after Gene Roddenberry loaned it to makers of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture,” which was released in 1979.

“No one knew what happened to it,” Rod Roddenberry said.

The 3-foot (0.91-meter) model of the USS Enterprise was used in the show’s original pilot episode as well as the opening credits of the resulting TV series, and was the prototype for the 11-foot (3-meter) version featured in the series’ episodes. The larger model is on display at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.

The original “Star Trek” television series, which aired in the late 1960s, kicked off an ever-expanding multiverse of cultural phenomena, with TV and movie spinoffs and conventions where a fanbase of zealous and devoted Trekkies can’t get enough of memorabilia.

This USS Enterprise model would easily sell for more than $1 million at auction, but really “it’s priceless,” Maddalena said.

“It could sell for any amount and I wouldn’t be surprised because of what it is,” he said. “It is truly a cultural icon.”

Roddenberry, who was just a young boy when the model went missing, said he has spotty memories of it, “almost a deja vu.” He said it wasn’t something he’d thought much about until people began contacting him after it appeared on eBay.

“I don’t think I really, fully comprehended at first that this was the first Enterprise ever created,” he said.

He said he has no idea if there was something nefarious behind the disappearance all those decades ago or if it was just mistakenly lost, but it would be interesting to find out more about what happened.

“This piece is incredibly important and it has its own story and this would be a great piece of the story,” Roddenberry said.

Thankfully, he said, the discovery has cleared up one rumor: That it was destroyed because as a young boy, he’d thrown it into a pool.

“Finally I’m vindicated after all these years,” he said with a laugh.

To Boldly Return —

Long-lost model of the uss enterprise returned to roddenberry family, it showed up in an ebay listing; now roddenberry's son wants to show it to fans..

Samuel Axon - Apr 19, 2024 9:05 pm UTC

This mysterious model appeared on eBay with little fanfare.

The first-ever model of Star Trek's USS Enterprise NCC-1701 has been returned to the Roddenberry family, according to an ABC News report.

The 3-foot model was used to shoot the pilot and credits scene for Star Trek's original series in the 1960s and was used occasionally for shots throughout the series. (Typically, a larger, 11-foot model was used for shots after the pilot.) The model also sat on series creator Gene Roddenberry's desk for several years.

It went missing in the late 1970s; historians and collectors believe it belonged to Roddenberry himself, that he lent it to a production house working on Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and that it was never returned. Its whereabouts were unknown until last fall, when a listing for a mysterious model of the Enterprise appeared on eBay .

Further Reading

The eBay account that posted the item specialized in selling artifacts found in storage lockers that end up without an owner, either because of failure to pay or death.

The model appeared in this promotional image with Roddenberry.

The model was turned over by the eBay seller to Texas-based Heritage Auctions. News spread that it had been discovered, and Gene Roddenberry's son, Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry, made public statements that he would like to see it returned to his family.

After that, there were months of silence, and its fate was unknown—until now. Heritage Auctions announced that it had given the model to Rod Roddenberry. Details of the exchange have not been shared, but Roddenberry said he did compensate Heritage in some way.

Heritage reached out directly to Roddenberry upon acquiring the object and reportedly decided to return it because it was "the right thing to do." Roddenberry said that he "felt it important to reward that and show appreciation for that" but didn't disclose a sum.

Promotional images of the model with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

Roddenberry also revealed what he has planned for the model:

This is not going home to adorn my shelves. This is going to get restored and we’re working on ways to get it out so the public can see it, and my hope is that it will land in a museum somewhere.

He runs a group called the Roddenberry Foundation that has scanned and digitized many relics from Star Trek's ideation and production over the years, so it's likely the Foundation will get a crack at the model, too.

Lineage [ ]

History [ ], final mission at narendra iii [ ].

In 2344 , the Enterprise responded to a distress call from the Klingon outpost on Narendra III , which was under attack by the Romulan Star Empire . When the Enterprise arrived at the outpost, she was engaged by four Romulan warbirds . The ship was hopelessly outnumbered, and suffered major damage to her warp nacelles and external hull , with all but 125 crew members being killed.

During the firefight, a temporal rift was created. The ship entered and almost instantly emerged from it, before she was ultimately destroyed. ( TNG : " Yesterday's Enterprise ")

Creation of an alternate history [ ]

The severely damaged Enterprise drifted through the rift, emerging in the year 2366 (precisely twenty-two years, three months, and four days later), and encountered her successor, the Galaxy -class USS Enterprise -D . The crew discovered that the outpost at Narendra III had been completely destroyed, and a state of war existed between the Klingon Empire and the Federation. Both crews eventually realized that the current timeline was a result of the Enterprise -C's absence from the battle, and determined that the Enterprise -C needed to return to its own time through the rift.

USS Enterprise-C emerges from temporal rift

The Enterprise emerges in the future

While the Enterprise -D assisted in repairs, both ships soon came under attack from the Klingons, and Captain Garrett was subsequently killed.

Lieutenant Natasha Yar , the Enterprise -D's tactical officer , learned from Guinan that, if the Enterprise -C was successful, in the new timeline that would be created she would die a meaningless death. Not comfortable with that idea, Yar requested and was granted a transfer to the Enterprise -C.

The last surviving senior officer of the Enterprise -C, Lt. Richard Castillo , assumed command of the ship and, under the protection of the Enterprise -D, took her back into the rift to return to 2344. ( TNG : " Yesterday's Enterprise ")

Back to 2344 [ ]

Entering the rift

The Enterprise returns to its proper time

The Enterprise -C returned at the same time it left its timeline. It engaged the Romulans and was eventually destroyed. In the aftermath of the battle, the Klingons were deeply impressed by the act of self-sacrifice by a Starfleet crew to protect a Klingon outpost, and the Enterprise 's ultimate legacy was reinforcing the relations between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets , leading to a close alliance of peace .

A number of the ship's crewmembers, including Yar, were captured by the Romulans and held prisoner. Yar later gave birth to a half-Romulan daughter named Sela . ( TNG : " Redemption II ")

Starfleet did not commission another Enterprise until nearly two decades later in 2363 . ( TNG : " Redemption II ")

A dedication plaque was made by Michael Okuda for the bridge set. However, due to camera angles and lighting conditions, it was unreadable. The plaque made an appearance in the Star Trek Encyclopedia  (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 192). According to the plaque, the Enterprise -C was built at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards .

Apocrypha [ ]

According to the non-canon Lost Era novels – The Art of the Impossible and Well of Souls – the Enterprise -C was launched in 2332 with Garrett in command. The Star Trek: The Next Generation - Future's Past video game for Super Nintendo follows the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual (p. 4) in claiming the Enterprise -C was constructed at Earth Station McKinley .

In the Star Trek Online mission "Temporal Ambassador", it was revealed that the Enterprise -D's battle with the Klingons in " Yesterday's Enterprise " caused the Enterprise -C to emerge from the temporal rift in 2409 rather than 2344. The alternate timeline remained in place, and the Federation has fallen to the Klingon Empire. However, the Klingon Empire, including the former Federation, and the Romulan Star Empire have been conquered by the Dominion . The Tholian Assembly holds the Enterprise -C at a base in the Azure Nebula , and the player joined forces with Richard Castillo and Tasha Yar to take the Enterprise -C back through another temporal rift to once more restore the timeline.

Also in Star Trek Online , a plaque commemorating the Enterprise -C can be seen inside certain fleet starbases . According to the plaque, she was launched in 2332, the date given in the Lost Era novel Well of Souls .

LEILA FADEL, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Leila Fadel.

The long-lost original model of the USS Enterprise, the one that could be seen in the opening credits of the TV show "Star Trek," has been returned. Missing since the 1970s, the model popped up on eBay last fall. The seller eventually took down the item and helped facilitate its return to Rod Roddenberry, the son of the late "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry. Roddenberry, the son, says he now hopes to get the model into a museum for the public to enjoy.

Lost Original USS Enterprise Model From ‘Star Trek’ Returned To Gene Roddenberry’s Son

We have a nice update on a story from late last year about what appeared to be the original model for the USS Enterprise showing up in an online auction after being lost for decades. That model has now been authenticated and returned to the Roddenberry family.

Star Trek mystery solved

In 1977, the first shooting model of the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek: The Original Series went missing. The 3-foot model used for the first Star Trek pilot (and for the credits used for the entire series) had been given to Roddenberry after it was replaced by an 11-foot model. That larger model is in the Smithsonian, but the 3-foot model sat on Roddenberry’s desk until it went missing after being loaned to an effects house during the making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture .

The model appeared to have gone up for auction on eBay late last year, but was quickly taken down. At that time Eugene Roddenberry Jr. was working to get the model authenticated and returned to the family. And that has now happened.

The model sat on Gene Roddenberry’s desk for years

The model’s return was facilitated by Heritage Auctions. Last fall, an individual discovered the long-lost model and brought it to Heritage for authentication. Heritage then reached out to Roddenberry Jr. to coordinate the return of the Enterprise. “Once our team of experts concluded it was the real thing, we contacted Rod because we wanted to get the model back to where it belonged,” Maddalena says in a statement. “We’re thrilled the Enterprise is finally in dry dock.”

Last Saturday, Heritage Auctions Executive Vice President Joe Maddalena returned the 3-foot-long model Gene Roddenberry’s son. The handoff occurred at Heritage Auctions’ Beverly Hills location, where the Enterprise was stored for safekeeping.

I remember how it used to adorn my dad’s desk,” said Rod Roddenberry, CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment. “I am tremendously grateful to Heritage Auctions for facilitating the return of this iconic piece of Star Trek history to my family. I can’t wait to figure out how we are going to share it with my extended family, Star Trek fans around the world. We look forward to making that announcement.”

Trek vets authenticated the model

Like the one housed at the Smithsonian, this is a key piece of Star Trek history. The authentication team included Star Trek design vets Doug Drexler, Denise Okuda, Mike Okuda, and Daren Dochterman. Drexler shared a photo of their work on Facebook (see below).

Mike Okuda also shared a pic of himself with Denise, Doug, and the model on Twitter/X…

Heritage Auctions has shared more images of the returned model so you can get a closer look…

Shouldn’t this have the taller bridge, bigger deflector dish, and spikes on the end of the nacelles?

Not if you look at the picture of the original model that sat on GR’s desk.

I wonder if it was modified after the pilot/intro were filmed.

From the book “The Enterprise NCC 1701 and The Model Maker” about the builder of the model Richard Dayton (written by his children), when discussing the condition of the model after it was completed in December of 1964: “I don’t believe it received any major damage nor do I recall repairing it except for the modifications made to resemble the same modifications made on the eleven-footer.”

So we’re looking at a new bridge dome, dish and nacelle domes but, as we know, the 11 footer was modified once the show was picked up so there are still going to be some subtle differences between the two.

Yes, some subtle differences, but generally changes to the 11 footer were repeated on the little brother. Here’s more from Datin: “It was updated along with the eleven-footer after the first pilot and again before the regular series episodes, and before the second season .” (BTW, its Datin, not Dayton, spelled it wrong earlier.)

All good, UFP!

ITS A FAKE!

Well played my friend… well played!

Darn Garak screwed up again.

Glad to hear it! That ship is firmly wedged into my heart, and the hearts of millions of fans.

not mine the 60’s designs are all trash un futuristic and dated

This is a lost artifact, now found. Is it possible to just enjoy the moment, even if it’s not your thing?

It’s not possible for trolls to enjoy aything.

i am not a troll i just don’t like tos or most of tng the new star trek series are my favorite trek shows dsc, snw, pic, lds, pro and enteprise was my first trek series but for me star trek is just another sci-fi franchise i enjoy along side b5,the 3 stargate series, andromeda ,warehouse 13,EUReKA,and star wars and doctor who

By itself, there’s nothing wrong with having a preference for Trek that origonated after TNG. Everything you enjoy for broadcast Sci-Fi (except Dr. Who, which started about the same time as TOS) wouldn’t be if it wern’t for that piece of ‘trash’ you’re so casually dismissive of. Roddenberry is right, this belongs in the Smithsonian along side the eleven foot model currently on display, your feelings aside. The word trash is inflammatory in this context. You may not have set out to troll, but that was the result.

is crap or garbage or cheep and cheesy unfuturistic looking low grade excuse for good sci-fi any better As for doctor who I only like modern doctor who I don’t like any 60’s and 70’s sci-fi and tng is boring as hell except for the borg and q episodes and a few other which are more normal sci-fi stuff happening cause it is all talk no do and the humans are all unrealistically perfect no conflicts between them at least the tng films and ds9 and voyager and ent somewhat fixed those isssues but the new trek shows fully fixed those issues also warehouse 13 and EUReKA and the 3 stargate series and Star Wars and b5 would have happened even without the original Star Trek as they have nothing to do or even simular to it and ds9 would not have happened with out b5 as the series bible was givin to berman to use to make ds9

also the only live action tv shows that started in the mid 60’s and early 70’s are non sci-fi shows like gilligan’s island and mchale’s navy and hogan’s heroes and Hawaii five-0 and m*a*s*h and the monkees

Oh classic Doctor Who is always fun to watch.

But to refer to it as trash is a bit over the top and rude.

You’re talking to a child, don’t waste your time.

Clearly the only taste you have is for the magic nose sculptures you eat off the bottom of your night table. I’m sure your only measure of scifi is for the sparkly effects and weak story lines that are easy to follow and predict just by the episode preview.

If you look at michelle’s other posts, that doesn’t seem even remotely possible.

I, on the other hand, share your excitement and enthusiasm.

Jeez, what a buzzkill.

no it is beaing realistic and not treating inatimate objects like they are to be worshiped and idolized i also don’t get nosolgic over anything unless it has a personal connection in my life not stuff outside my control and no connection to

Quick, find a Tribble and put it up to Michelle to see whether she is a klingon or just a human with execrable taste. Guessing you’re no fan of Saarinen or Eames or Frank Lloyd Wright either?

it is just a model when it breaks badly enough you can’t fix or it gets lost during a move you buy and build a new one i know cause i build models i got shelves full of Star Trek ship models i built and car models i built and alsorts of other types of models i have built

You have shelves full of everything except punctuation, apparently, you being able to construct anything save a proper sentence in English.

Sure, the original design is dated. But if that design didn’t exist then neither would the designs for the shows you obviously prefer. That designates the model as an object of some proper pop-historical significance, if not fan-worship.

Scotty says, “Lassie, don’t you think you ought to rephrase that?

Ok how about the 60’s design of the enterprise is dumb looking and does not fit visually between the nx-01 design and the tmp refit/constitution ll class design

…that’s not the fault of the original design. Rather…the crappy Enterprise TV show

The refit is different, but it was for a movie and it also looks awesome

Agreed, Corylea. Absolutely.

There’s just something so beautiful about that ship!

the visual retconed design from dsc and snw looks way better compared to the 60’s design which look looks horrible

I should have scrolled down first. Yeah, you’re trolling.

Right with you, I feel like I wasted time even responding.

No trolling this is just how I feel about the design of the every in tos

The carrot peeler nacelle struts, squished proportions, slag metal finish, and ridiculous bridge window?

The nx had a gun metal grey finish with aztecing and nacelle bussard clamps just like the dsc/snw enteprise has and the dsc/ snw enterprise has the same shape nacelle pylons and secondary hull shape and even neck hight and shape minus the torpedo launcher collar that the tmp refit does so it works better with the refit that took place unlike the 60’s design which does not fit visually between either and the bridge having a window with a heads up viewscreen display makes so much sense if the viewscreen sensors go out they can still see what is going on outside and do not have to rush to another bow facing window on another deck and relay what’s going on outside back to the bridge

Try punctuation, Michelle, it works a charm. Also try being less of a wet blanket.

no one asked you to repeat an already unpopular opinion. To quote the original Star Wars (which you probably ALSO find boring and dated)… “Move along. Move along.”

Not to agree with her but a lot of people cr@p on new Star Trek on here and no one gets all hot and bothered over that.

I’ve watched plenty of people getting plenty hot and plenty bothered by people crapping all over new Star Trek on here.

Taking a steaming dump on a steaming dump probably doesn’t really affect the smell.

You haven’t been reading the same comments as I have then.

I have only ever seen the final edited versions of the ot Lucas put out after prequels and prior to selling to Disney that had scenes replaced and edited and everything model and cheep spfx and vfx replaced with cgi and I love all 9 films of the skywalker saga equally as well as the two anthology films and the new live action series except for book of boba fett cause I never liked the character and think he was the most over rated character ever I only watched the episode with grogu and din djarin and Luke and Ahsoka in it as it connected to the mandalorian and now the Ahsoka series as well as the skywalker saga films and seasons 1-7 of the clone wars and Star Wars rebels I also love the bad batch and tales of the Jedi and can’t wait for the new Rey skywalker movie

Funny you should bring SW up … I was just on youtube to look at the end battle in the ‘despecialized’ version, which opens with two wonderful model shots of the rebel fleet instead of the horrible BABYLON-5 looking CG that replaced it, I guess so that the camera could do a sweeparound. Pretty sad looking ‘improvement.’

Your preference for the DSC Enterprise does not negate someone else’s preference for the TOS version.

To each their own. Love the 1701, no bloody A, B, C or D (or E, F, G for that matter).

Aye. A real beauty and a credit to her name.

Nice when something significant like that finds its way back to its ‘family.’ Good little story, heartwarming.

Due to its renewed fame, the model has reportedly decided to get a nacelle lift.

Ha, I never realized the nacelles weren’t quite parallel with the saucer!

Nice to see it found its way home. Kudos to all involved…

I was wondering about this- Thanks!

Nice to have some good news for a change.

I was thinking the same. There’s not enough of that out there these days.

Great this has been finally found and authenticated.

Don’t let Paramount+ use it at one of their pop-up promotional things; they don’t seem to care about Star Trek anymore.

This is wonderful news. Only a Vulcan or Android could fail to understand being sentimental about this.

I never knew the nacelles on the original were at that angle!

Hope Roddenberry gets this a top notch restoration and more people get to see it in person.

They weren’t at that angle (just look at the photos of Roddenberry examining the newly-completed model on the set of “The Cage” or the actors holding it for publicity stills). The nacelles have just sagged over the years — the bane of the design even for professional model makers, apparently.

I had to do some hefty triage to get them to stay upright when building those AMT models.

Gravity’s a b**ch, what can I say….

At 65, I can’t say much. And I’m just a guy. . .

I’m only a couple years behind you, but was horrified/amazed to find I’d shrunk nearly a 1/2 inch in the last year, so I’m under 6’2″ now. Gravity’s a bastard too.

I’m breaking my cardinal rule about offering up some unsolicited advice, it might not be a bad idea to get a checkup on dropping that half inch. Bone density issues can lead to a higher risk of fractures in the future.

That’s what my wife thought too, you’re right to put it out there. But it was my primary doctor’s nurse who took the measurement before an in-person visit, yet nobody in the office seemed concerned.

I just now got up and had my wife measure me against the apartment front door and she came away with 6′ 2-1/4″ — so no height loss after all. Guess they may not be making nurses like they used to.

Then again, the whole medical community seems to have fallen apart in the last few years. My wife had to wait more than 18 months just to get some special ‘important’ testing during the pandemic, not because Kaiser lacked doctors and lab techs, but because they lacked schedulers . If they’d just been able to put the request into the system in a different way, like most typical appointments, she could have scheduled an appointment herself online and gotten in within a couple months instead of nearly waiting 2 years. All because she had to wait for them to call her to schedule.

In the first year after the death of my wife of 30 years, I had become so exhausted from all the changes from bookkeeping and other paperwork (my wife had just retired from 40 years teaching higher math and being an administrator in high schools and community college, this she was the keeper of the books for our 30 years together) that I began having multiple balance issues and repeated falls. Apparently no bones were broken in those falls, but I did manage to maintain my 5’11.5″ height, and began to lose 100+ lbs. weight over the first year without trying (due to my cooking perhaps). I had been a type 2 diabetic, as well as other bad health signs, but am now (four years after my wife’s death) considered back to pre-diabetic, due to dropping weight, blood sugar, and a1c numbers. I feel as if my wife’s death, in a damnable twist of fate, took her from me, but gave me new life. Yet I would stay heavy and ill just to have her back for a year. Years before, she told me “If anything happens to me, I want you to be happy, to enjoy life, and find someone to love again.” Yet I just can’t. Not yet. Oh, I tried dating last year for a short time, and hated it and myself. My heart was not in it. She was the one love of my life, and likely shall be…

I feel ya, Kev. We got a piece of good news that Christina’s weird thyroid growth has only a 1% chance of being cancer, which is a real break given she isn’t fully over the surgery/chemo combo for the ovarian cancer last year. We know the ovarian type she has will absolutely return so it is a kind of death sentence, but there is a possibility of some years yet, even though the chemo pushed her a1c numbers up into diabetic zone, gave her extreme neuropathy and cost her most of her hearing.

On a decidedly lighter note, I was thinking ‘Count Plasma and the Platelets ‘ would be a good band name, if you ever decide to make another Count Plasma movie and wanted to include musical numbers.

I have made some headway on the formation of ILM script at last, and hope to actually finish it and get an agent again this year. Maybe then, with that monkey off my back and hopefully out to market in time for a 50th anniversary SW tie-in, I can start writing about stuff that is of more personal interest again, like spaceship-bound stuff where the characters say ‘shoot’ instead of ‘fire’ because the latter means ‘something is burning on the ship.’ Getting my a1c down to 6.5 and keeping it there seems to be doing sporadic wonders for my long-gunked-up creative juices.

I’m keeping good thoughts and positive vibes for Christina, and for you as well. My latest a1c was 5.9, but I blame that on my lust for a weekly pint or two of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. I was down to 5.7 not long ago. Each time I get on the scale I’m down another 2 to 5 lbs. but it’ll be a while ’til I get under 175 again. I’m busting my you-know-what to shoot some digital video again on my film project, but I have a couple of interesting actors, and keep hoping for cool enough days to shoot desert exteriors. And I’m glad to learn that you are working on that script, as I vaguely recall some mention of it in a recent year or so. I’m making use of an AI assist on mine to help me fill in some blanks to get mine finished. Normally I’d wing it, but my friends are anxious to see a finished script. Though I’d be happy as a clam making the whole thing hand-held and improvised, ’70s-’80s style! ;) Certain lines come to mind: “Oh Jerry, come down off your ivory….tower?”

For me, the stuff I remember being most excited about is mostly the ones we didn’t get to do … I wrote an MTX: GOBI ZONE opener on spec for you, based on your admiration for the TMP transporter malfunction scene, and I had the voice of the soon-to-be-demised-transportee coming across on the radio after the initial successful teleport ,checking in with, ‘I claim this for all the queens in England.’ (years later, you were thinking of a different take on teleporation, something more like THE OUTER LIMITS’ ‘The Mice,’ and I remember messing with a story for that too, but I don’t know what happened with it.)

Plus there was that Arthur Pierce WORLD AND ANTI-WORLD project, which would have been the most epic super-8 project anybody ever tried (way beyond Lew Place!)

But for the most part, I really wish we’d gotten to do that whole contemporary MASTER OF THE WORLD film, instead of just the denouement where I washed ashore in Monterrey. Mainly just because I LOVED the idea of you shooting a oner for the ‘landing in helicopter and getting out wearing a business suit’ intro you had planned for the San Fran opening, which was wholly within my Bond-obsessed vibe. Y’know, I still haven’t seen the Vincent Price/Charles Bronson film after all these decades!

I’m sorry to read of your wife’s health issues, but glad that she is currently doing well, which is all any of us can count on. Just yesterday I was outside doing nothing more challenging or life-threatening than weeding my yard when a sudden, stupid mishap brought me within a quarter-inch of losing my right eye. We are all so, so fragile.

Yes, she is indeed due and well deserving of some TLC.

Funny, when I built the AMT model of the Enterprise back in the 70s, it too wound up having droopy nacelle issues. Now I can retcon my memories to say I was imitating the original model. :D

Seriously, I do hope that they do some restoration on the model. It’s dirty, the “Enterprise” on the top of the saucer is in bad shape, and while I can see them squeezing the aft ends of the nacelles closer together to facilitate forced perspective, I don’t thing they look as droopy on Gene’s desk. It’s in good hands now.

A couple of news stories reported that it will be restored and put on display. Details to follow.

Yes, it’s in good hands now.

And because Paramount can’t get their hands on it, they won’t be able to auction it off.

The droop is proof that the Enterprise was always meant to only operate in space, not in a gravitational field.

Perfect design. Love that ship

Nacelle droop and misalignment; a worry, to be sure….

Every lady has her own charm, despite “nacelle droop” and “misalignment”, even the Enterprise… :D

So long as it doesn’t get any hot flashes. It is made of wood, after all…

Too many innuendoes… not enough time… does not compute… does not… COMPUTE… ERROR! ERROR! Dooooooes noooooot…. [explodes like Landru, M-5, and countless other outsmarted AIs]

Reading that made me think of some arcane little tidbit from TAS, specifically THE TIME TRAP, where one of the other ships caught in that dimension/plane/nexus/whosiwhatsis is reported to be made of wood.

I don’t recall if it was in the aired episode or just the AD Foster novelization. I suppose I should pop the DVD set in — it came in a cute plastic container similar to the TOS tricorder-looking dvd clamshell sets that I keep my TOS blurays — to see.

That was my favorite TAS episode when I was a kid, back when it first aired. The thought of a hidden graveyard of spaceships was fascinating to me.

TIME TRAP and JIHAD were my faves as a kid, along with MAGICKS OF MEGUS TWO, which I’m pretty sure my catholic saturday school catechism teacher decried to be heretical. That was around the time my little league career ended and I started making up excuses to get out of all church activities for ever !

Pretty sure that was an ADF addition, but it’s been decades in both cases, so don’t hold me to it.

I love a happy ending.

You just know this long strange journey is going to make a fun documentary

I really hope it is a documentary! I would support that kickstarter!

Do we know what happened to the “owner”? Did they get any money?

I believe it was mentioned somewhere that the individual who purchased the storage locker was compensated. I doubt it was anything near the millions they would have gotten for it at auction, though.

Millions, I don’t know. The TMP and TNG Enterprises went for less than a million, and those were models with modern detailing, working lights, etc. Of course, this model was literally the first based upon Jeffries’ design ever built (aside from a four-inch balsa prototype forever lost to time), so it has considerably more historicity, but millions’ worth? I doubt it.

That said, it would’ve been a nice payday for someone.

‘treat her like a lady and she will always bring you home…’

I have friends who worked on TNG through Enterprise, and later PICS3. Another friend was involved with TMP 4K remaster. They were all brought it to authenticate it’s the actual model. It’s authentic. I hope it ends up at the Star Trek Set Tour in Ticonderoga NY.

I’d be up for it being displayed at the Smithsonian, personally….

Either way would be great! The Galileo is at The Set Tour. I think the owner of the tour has a relationship with Roddenberry. We’ll see…

It would be awesome if they put it up with the 11 footer in a huge shadowbox, so that if you looked at them from the right angle (and added some kind of fiberoptic pulse lighting between the two models), you could get a ‘Picard maneuver’ effect live right at the museum, like the little ship jumped to warp and came out right in your face.

That’s assuming they match the paint jobs up, of course.

I doubt that they will, though. When both models were updated for the regular series the three-footer didn’t get the “weathering” treatment of its larger sibling. My guess is that any restoration will be to get the ship back to its condition on Roddenberry’s desk, which in itself will be a reasonable curation and a lot of work.

…Was discovered amongst a stack of documents at Mar-a-Lago

They’re lucky to get it back – I’d have kept the thing

Really? What would you have done with it, hang it off the ceiling in your garage?

But seriously, I’ve seen this happen on Antiques Roadshow, where someone comes in with something they think is worth a couple hundred bucks, and it turns out to be worth hundreds of thousands, or even millions. They couldn’t afford to keep it because of the cost of insurance alone.

Simply the most beautiful starship design ever to grace the screens of any size. It’s perspective sculptural perfections allows it to be filmed from every angle makes it a powerful looking ship moving forward. Restorations to bring it back to what’s seen on Gene Roddenberry’s desk is a natural direction to go.

I’m glad it was returned…

but please fix those crooked nacelles before my head explodes!

By the Numbers: Enterprise B Day!

Today, November 18, 2021, is the 27th anniversary of the release of Star Trek Generations and with it comes the stark reminder that we are still without a Hallmark Enterprise NCC-1701-B ornament. How can any collection b e complete with this infamous Excelsior-class starship missing. This was the site of legendary James T. Kirk’s “death”!

uss enterprise star trek b

An upgrade of the  Excelsior- class, she was the third Federation starship to b ear the name  Enterprise . During her maiden voyage under Captain Harriman, the starship received a distress call from two El-Aurian transport vessels caught in a strange, mysterious energy ri bb on. Kirk, on b oard as an honored guest, assisted in the rescue while the  Enterprise-B  got caught in the Nexus. Kirk was integral in saving the ship, b ut as the  Enterprise  pulls away, the ri bb on suddenly strikes the starship, tearing a large gash through the hull. In its wake, it left only a gaping hole in the b ulkhead where Captain Kirk once was. startrek.com

Hallmark has produced no less than 24 Enterprise ornaments over the course of 30 years and still we wait for the NCC-1701-B.

uss enterprise star trek b

Star Trek Generations was released in 1994 and Hallmark has missed opportunities at the 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th anniversaries. Generations ’ 30th anniversary is only three years away and it would b e a perfect opportunity to “right the ship”. Hallmark, you’re on the clock!

uss enterprise star trek b

OOF! 😉 Okay, let’s all sit down and have an honest chat about the B. I assure you that we’ve had her on our sensors for a long time. (As also the U.S.S. Excelsior—and yes, we are very in tune with the design differences between the starships.) The short answer is, sure, we could do the B . . . but you wouldn’t be so happy about it. I’m hoping I can get an assist here with some top and side profiles (hint hint). I know a lot of us could do a pretty good job sketching the B from memory but take a good look at the design here. To do the B the way we would want to—with light in all the right places—that’s not an easy trick. We have to pack those skinny nacelles (these are hardly ample, Scotty) with wires and lights and plot the placement of circuit boards and battery housings and all the things either in the primary hull, which is pretty shallow as well, or the pot-belly of a secondary hull that isn’t quite as accommodating as you think. One solution is just to make the whole ornament big enough to do everything you’d expect it to do . . . leaving you with a B that is unpleasantly out of scale with the rest of your collection and possibly a price point that would be a bump up, too. Part of the wait we’re all experiencing is on technology. Advancements in consumer electronics, many of which come with price reductions, happen all the time. It was the introduction of a tiny wireless RF chip at the right price that unlocked our ability to do our Storytellers ornaments. I’m hoping you’ve enjoyed what’s come of that so far. 😉 In my own personal experience (and it’s matched by that of plenty of others) the B is the second-most requested Star Trek Keepsake Ornament I’ve heard. The only request I’ve heard more over the years is for a U.S.S. Enterprise tree topper and you know how that story ends. We get it; we want the B, too. I can tell you that it’s not an “if,” it’s a “when.” We just don’t know when. I’d be remiss if I signed off without thanking each of you for your support of what we’re doing with the Star Trek license. I’m over the moon from your responses to Star Trek Storytellers—it’s among my associations with Star Trek of which I’m most proud. I’m so eager for next year’s additions to complete the story. You’re all terrific and I appreciate you greatly. Kevin PS—if you’re gonna make a pitch of reasons to do the B, I might reconsider the mention of it being the place where Captain Kirk died. We’ve done a Star Trek death scene before and I still remember the social media response to THAT one. haha 😉 -Kevin Dilmore, 11/18/21 aka Enterprise B Day

Hallmark’s Complete 30-Year Line of Enterprise Ornaments (1991-2020)

Where is the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B?

Hallmark’s complete 30-year history of enterprise ornaments (1991-2020).

Star Trek ships by the name of Enterprise have been represented by Hallmark 23 times over the past thirty years. Here is a complete list of every Enterprise Hallmark ornament released and those Enterprises that have been missed.

uss enterprise star trek b

Enterprise NX-01 (2002) Lynn Norton : “It’s a very cool ship. In my mind, it typified what a starship should look like even more so than the original Enterprise. I always had a bit of a problem with a primary hull and this secondary hull sticking out from it and then your engines are way in the air on these pylons. I always imagine that there is something happening in these engines that would harm the crew, so you want them as far away from the crew and even the engineering section as possible. The NX-01 was integrated. It is sculpturally more pleasing to me.”

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 *Pilot Episode-50th Anniversary* (2016) Box text: U.S.S. Enterprise – Featuring dialogue and music directly from the original “Star Trek” TV Series, this Keepsake Ornament depicts the iconic starship as originally built and painted for special-effects filming. This is a repaint of a 2016 Keepsake Ornament celebrating Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.  Limited quantity of 3,450.

Lynn Norton : “This is the one that I really went out of my way to make as accurate as possible. I based it on the original shooting model with its larger bridge dome, larger deflector dish and nacelle features as a tribute to the series’ 50th anniversary. Assuming it’s able to maintain all of its details in final production, it’s more accurate than anything I’ve done before.”

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 (1991) Box text: This unique ornament, with its bright blinking lights, commemorates the 25th anniversary of STAR TREK and celebrates the holiday season.

Lynn Norton : ”From the beginning, Star Trek imagined that we had overcome the problem of a ship having enough energy not only to propel yourself but to give yourself a comfortable living environment. As a design, it captured our excitement from the notion of flying saucer and the way we had come to imagine what a deep-space vehicle might look like. When you start thinking of the physics of propelling an object through space, it doesn’t have to look aerodynamic. It can be purely functional. The fact that it was a flying saucer is one of the things that captured my imagination right away. All space movies are really submarine movies. The Enterprise reflects all the elements of a submarine crew’s experience — living in close quarters in a hostile environment with nothing but a thin metal skin between them and oblivion — and put it in space seamlessly.  At Hallmark, Don Palmiter, Dill Rhodus and I brought fine scale model-making to the ornament business. We really had to convince our art directors we could go beyond cute and traditional and make really believable small models to be used as ornaments. Our commitment to high quality fit right into the Hallmark ideals for product. Now, I also had to fight the initial idea of having a string of garland hanging along the edge of the primary hull, and Santa Claus popping out of the bridge — true story! I wanted to make it as accurate as possible. I’m very aware of the changes to that first ornament. Because it had big, thick circuitry inside for lights, the ornament had heat dissipation problems. We had to build a big cavity into it so the circuit board would not melt the plastic. Also, the ornament had to fit into a ‘printer’s box’ store display with a limited space, and I had to shorten the nacelles for it to fit. I beat that poor design nearly to death, but it got us started and it was very popular with fans of Star Trek and of Keepsake Ornaments. When we reissued the ornament in 1996 for the show’s 30th anniversary, we used the same design.”

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 *40th Anniversary* (2006) Box text: A flagship of Starfleet, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 embarked on its historic five-year mission in 2264. Commanded by Captain James T. Kirk, the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE transported us to the final frontier for unparalleled adventure. During their exploration, the ship and crew introduced us to life on new planets and unimaginable technologies. As an ambassador for Earth and the rest of the United Federation of Planets, the ENTERPRISE gave us an inspiring vision of the future.  Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Star Trek television series with this authentic representation of the first ship “to boldly go where no man has gone before.”  To see this ornament come to life, place it on the included display stand. Press the button on the back of the stand to hear the theme song from the original TV series and see various lights on the ship illuminated. The lights will automatically turn off after 20 seconds.

Lynn Norton : “Look at the original Enterprise and you see basic geometric shapes. Almost everything on that original ship, I can execute on my miniature lathe and miniature mill. As we start moving through more complex designs, there became fewer and fewer things I could make on the lathe. They became more oval-shaped, there were detailed ridges and recesses that didn’t appear that much on the original Enterprise except for the interior of the nacelles. They added details to the models as time went on.  This was my more accurate sculpting of the original ship design. It felt redemptive in that I was able to get it closer to scale. There is a difference in end product versus what I sculpted because of the process to build a master pattern that is used to cut the molds. You end up with process shrinkage and distortion, and in 2006, that didn’t make me happy. The saucer got too thin. They weren’t able to keep the nacelles properly aligned to the center axis. It’s not just us. That’s been a problem for every manufacturer who makes this ship into a consumer product. I just wanted to do something a little different than I had done before.”

I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 *Mirror Universe* (2019) Box text: When a transporter malfunction during an ion storm flung Captain James T. Kirk and three of his officers into another dimension, they found themselves on board the I.S.S. Enterprise, a Terran Empire battle cruise nearly identical in configuration to the ship they called home.  This “mirror universe” Imperial Star Ship Enterprise featured dagger-and-Earth symbols as decór, armed soldiers in every corridor, and torture chambers called agony booths to keep crew members compliant with command.

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 2.0 *Kelvin Timeline* (2010) Box text: In its maiden voyage in 2009’s Star Trek , the U.S.S. Enterprise  responds to a distress call from the planet Vulcan.  Arriving to find the rest of the rescue fleet destroyed by Romulans, the Enterprise tries unsuccessfully to save the planet.  With Captain Christopher Pike held prisoner by the enemy and First Officer Spock emotionally compromised, the crew soon find themselves under the command of the brash young James T. Kirk,  The warp-speed action that follows is a baptism by fire for the Enterprise’s fledgling crew and an exciting Star Trek introduction to a new generation of fans.

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 *Refit* (2019) Box text: Carrying its crew on all-new voyages, the refit version of the U.S.S. Enterprise launched to face the cosmic entity known as V’Ger. Boasting updates to its warp nacelles and overall design, this Enterprise was introduced in 1979’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture.”

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A (2005) Box text: Under the command of Captain James T. Kirk the starship U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-A was pressed into service to replace its namesake that was destroyed on a previous mission.  Nearly identical to its predecessor, the  ENTERPRISE-A was prematurely launched to intervene in a hostage situation on planet NIMBUS III, forcing the crew to complete vital systems while en route.

uss enterprise star trek b

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C (2015) Box text: The fourth Starfleet vessel to bear the name U.S.S. Enterprise, the NCC-1701-C played a crucial role in establishing peace between the United Federation of Planets and the rival Klingon Empire. In the classic Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise” (1990), this Ambassador-class starship entered a temporal rift, providing a view of an alternate reality that transformed Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his crew into bitter and weary warriors in a decades-long conflict between the two space-traveling powers.

Lynn Norton : “I had this ship on my short list for years. The ornament has got a kick-ass lighting effect. I know there was some conversation among fans as to our releasing it with a pristine look rather than having some battle damage as depicted in the (TNG) episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” My vote was to make it pristine. While I’m thrilled that Star Trek fans like our products, we have to keep the Hallmark shopper in mind as our primary consumer. When you put something in the store that appears battle-damaged, to them, it looks dirty. They don’t know the backstory and in many cases they don’t care as they likely are buying these as a gift for someone who is a fan. That fan will appreciate the detail and pore over it, but at the point of purchase, the buyer needs to be attracted to it. In my mind, I like reserving the battle-damage look for reissues or as event exclusives.”

U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C *Battle Damaged* (2017) Promotional info: U.S.S. Enterprise™ NCC-1701-C, a Keepsake Ornament inspired by the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” depicts the iconic starship with a battle-damage paint scheme as it appeared on screen.  This repaint of a 2015 Keepsake Ornament has a total production run of 3,325 and sales will be limited to 225 per day.

Lynn Norton : “At the time, Paramount would send me original blueprints and photos of the filming model as it was being constructed. I had access to detail that wasn’t readily apparent on our TV sets in those days, and I was able to explore and appreciate the design. I always imagined how I wanted to be part of the teams that built those studio models. It was thrilling for me to see the materials they were sending me. What appealed to me most was the level of detail visible on the hull and nacelles. The original was very simplistic in nature, and I had no problem with that. On the D, everything was busy.  The Aztec patterns on the hull caused us some concern. What people are imagining on these end products is an extension of what happens in real life. Much of the hull plating is prefabricated and painted at the factory and there are little bits of variation in the paint lots, so there is a small difference in tone for each plate. Also, as plates go over curves, reflectivity changes. It happens on metal aircraft, so we’re familiar with seeing it. Even if you have no paint, the fact that metal when formed will change its lighting characteristics just slightly enough that it ends up with a patchwork look. But on an ornament, capturing that look can add literally hundreds of decoration steps, whether spray masks or pad printing or however you choose to do it. We chose not to.”

uss enterprise star trek b

Lynn Norton : “Since I previously made adjustments to my original 1993 sculpture for the 2007 issue, I utilized the revised sculpture from 2007 as a basis for the 2012 anniversary edition. I removed all of the additions and restored the D to its original configuration. We decided to place the ornament on a display base so it could have sound in addition to lights. With that in mind, the control circuitry, batteries and speaker would all be housed in a base that is permanently attached, unlike the detachable bases on previous ornaments.”

uss enterprise star trek b

Future U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D *Refit* (2007) Box text: A famous version of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D appears in a space-time paradox where three separate time periods have collided.  Commanded by Admiral William T. Riker, the refitted Enterprise and officers are reunited with the former captain, Jean-Luc Picard.  Mankind’s existence is in the balance as the ships and crew from different eras join to battle the enemies of the Federation and the forces that caused their convergence.  Press the button on the bottom of the ornament to see the ship’s deflector dish and engines illuminate.

Lynn Norton: “The triple-nacelle ornament from (the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode) ‘All Good Things…’ was based on my original sculpture from 1993. Hallmark allows artists to retain original artwork for our portfolios, although the sculptures are often badly damaged from the process of molding and prototyping. The licensor supplied me with a number of photographs of the filming model as it was being refitted with additional components. In addition to adding the third nacelle and battle-bridge modifications, I made numerous proportional adjustments and refinements to the sculpture. I knew the 2007 ornament would be battery powered and wouldn’t have to pass the rigorous UL tests for tapping electricity from a light string. I still had to make provisions for LED placements, wire paths and battery installation, which included an access door on the underside of the saucer.”

uss enterprise star trek b

Lynn Norton : “I adore the E. They did things to it to make it look more aerodynamic than it needed to be, but those choices gave  it more style—a more swept-back, speedy appearance like a modern race car. There were a lot of products out there being developed right along side the model during (Star Trek: First Contact’s) production. I was getting the same photos from the studio as everyone else was, and originally the E had a blue-glowing deflector array. We went to see the movie and there’s that whole scene set on the deflector array and they’re out there walking around on it—and it’s amber! I was like ‘What the?’ But we were able to make that change while the ornament was in development at the toolmaker. Because it didn’t go to stores right away, our ornament was one of the few screen-accurate products on the market at the time.”

And now to those ships that have been missed…

uss enterprise star trek b

This USS Enterprise (XCV 330) appears in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979) among a series of illustrations depicting ships named Enterprise . It also appears as a model in Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), together with models of the Wright Flyer , a V-2 rocket, a Bell X-1, a Vostok-3KA capsule, a Space Shuttle orbiter, and some Star Trek universe starships. The 1979 Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology describes this “first interstellar liner” as a Declaration -class ship launched in 2123. Its length is given as 300 metres (980 ft), and it has a capacity of 100 crew and 850 passengers.  The Star Trek Maps by New Eye Photography Editors, also published in 1979, listed this ship as a fusion drive probe that was Earth’s first attempt to explore another star system. The Making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture , published in 1980, describes the ship as “the very first starship U.S.S. Enterprise “. [2] A painting of this ship hangs on the wall of Earth’s 602 Club in flashbacks that appeared in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode “First Flight” (2003).

Will we ever see this in ornament form? Never.

uss enterprise star trek b

Will we ever see this in ornament form? We have only seen the U.S.S. NX-01 in metal form so getting any version of the I.S.S. NX-01 is very remote.

B7754FE5-4BAF-483B-A7F4-A3FC67E82B5E

Will we ever see this in ornament form? It seems like this could be a good excuse to trot out another Enterprise and the general public wouldn’t look close enough to realize where along the Star Trek canon it was representing. If the movies dip back into the Kelvin universe this would be a sure bet.

uss enterprise star trek b

Will we ever see this in ornament form? We should have already seen it! C’mon Hallmark!

uss enterprise star trek b

Will we ever see this in ornament form? Slight, slight, slight chance. Who am I kidding? No.

MORE ENTERPRISE B ARTICLES

Hallmark has released all but one of the major Enterprise ornaments but how long until we get the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B?

The NX-01 was released in 2002.  A version of the famous original Enterprise (NCC-1701) was released in 1991, 1995 (mini), 1996, 2006 and two versions in 2016. 2005 gave us the NCC-1701-A.  2015 saw the release of the NCC-1701-C from Yesterday’s Enterprise.   The Next Generation’s NCC-1701-D was first released in 1993 and followed twife in 1995 (mini) and 2012.  The NCC-1701-E from First Contact  was released in 1998 and again in 2001 (mini).  The Star Trek series was “rebooted” when the film series offered up an alternate timeline and an alternate Enterprise. An ornament soon followed in 2010 to show off this new Enterprise.

Hallmark even gave us the unlikely release of a future’s version of the Enterprise from the last episode of the  Next Generation  series.  The 2007 release has the familiar NCC-1701-D from the series but now sports a third nacelle.

Hopefully on July 20, 2016 we hear news of the NCC-1701-B’s 2017 release.

‘Star Trek’: Long-Lost Original USS Enterprise Model Finally Makes the Voyage Home

The model was used for the pilot and credits of the original 'Star Trek' series.

The Big Picture

  • The original USS Enterprise model has been found in a storage locker after going missing for decades.
  • The model was used for the original unaired pilot and opening credits of Star Trek: The Original Series .
  • Rod Roddenberry plans to restore and display the iconic starship model in a museum for public viewing.

The original model of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek: The Original Series has been located, after spending several decades missing — not in some distant region of space, but in a storage locker. The model has been returned to Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry , the son of original Trek creator Gene Roddenberry . ABC News reports that the three-foot-long model was given to Gene Roddenberry after the original Trek series ended in 1969, and graced his desk for several years before he loaned it to the makers of 1979's Star Trek: The Motion Picture . The model disappeared shortly afterward and remained missing until it turned up on eBay last year. It had been discovered in a storage locker by parties unknown, who contacted action site Heritage Auctions. Although the model would fetch an enormous price at auction as a one-of-a-kind pop-cultural artifact, an arrangement was made between the finders and Roddenberry, whose father died at 70 in 1991.

The model in question was the first finished model of the iconic starship; it was used for the series' original unaired pilot episode, "The Cage," which was later incorporated into a two-part episode , "The Menagerie," before it was released in full in the 1980s. It was also used for the shots of the Enterprise seen in the show's opening credits. A larger model was later created for the rest of the series; that model is currently on display at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum . Roddenberry intends for the original model to find a permanent home, as well:

"This is not going home to adorn my shelves. This is going to get restored and we’re working on ways to get it out so the public can see it and my hope is that it will land in a museum somewhere."

What Is the USS Enterprise?

The flagship of the United Federation of Planets' Starfleet, the USS Enterprise is a Constitution-class starship from the 23rd century. It was originally captained by Robert April, who appeared on Star Trek: The Animated Series before appearing in live-action for the first time in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds . April later passed on command to Christopher Pike , whose adventures are currently being chronicled in the prequel series Strange New Worlds . After Pike was promoted to fleet command, James Kirk was given command of the ship, taking it on a five-year mission that kicked off one of science fiction's most enduring franchises.

In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock , then-Admiral Kirk stole the Enterprise to journey to the unstable Genesis Planet and reunite his friend Spock's mind with his body; during that adventure, Kirk had the ship self-destruct to prevent it from being seized by the Klingons. It was later replaced by a near-identical ship, the Enterprise-A ; many subsequent Federation ships have borne the name, up to the rechristened Enterprise-J in the series finale of Star Trek: Picard .

The son of Roddenberry and actor Majel Barrett , Rod Roddenberry is the chief executive officer of Roddenberry Entertainment. He currently executive produces the latest generation of Star Trek series, including Discovery , Strange New Worlds , Picard , Lower Decks , and Prodigy .

The original model of the Enterprise is now back in the Roddenberry family. Viewers can see it in action in Star Trek: The Original Series , which can be streamed on Paramount+.

Original ‘Star Trek’ Enterprise Model Is Found After Being Missing for Decades

The 33-inch model surfaced on eBay after disappearing around 1979. An auction house is giving it to the son of Gene Roddenberry, the creator of “Star Trek.”

A model of the U.S.S. Enterprise stands on a wooden base against a black backdrop.

By Emily Schmall

The first model of the U.S.S. Enterprise, the starship that appeared in the opening credits of the original “Star Trek” television series , has been returned to Eugene Roddenberry Jr., the son of the creator of the series, decades after it went missing.

“After a long journey, she’s home,” Mr. Roddenberry wrote on social media on Thursday.

For die-hard Trekkies, the model’s disappearance had become the subject of folklore, so an eBay listing last fall, with a starting bid of $1,000, didn’t go unnoticed.

“Red alert,” someone in an online costume and prop-making forum wrote, linking to the listing.

Mr. Roddenberry’s father, Gene Roddenberry, created the television series, which first aired in 1966 and ran for three seasons. It spawned numerous spinoffs, several films and a franchise that has included conventions and legions of devoted fans with an avid interest in memorabilia.

The seller of the model was bombarded with inquiries and quickly took the listing down.

The seller contacted Heritage Auctions to authenticate it, the auction house’s executive vice president, Joe Maddalena, said on Saturday. As soon as the seller, who said he had found it in a storage unit, brought it to the auction house’s office in Beverly Hills, Calif., Mr. Maddalena said he knew it was real.

“That’s when I reached out to Rod to say, ‘We’ve got this. This is it,’” he said, adding that the model was being transferred to Mr. Roddenberry.

Mr. Roddenberry, who is known as Rod, said on Saturday that he would restore the model and seek to have it displayed in a museum or other institution. He said reclaiming the item had only piqued his interest in the circumstances about its disappearance.

“Whoever borrowed it or misplaced it or lost it, something happened somewhere,” he said. “Where’s it been?”

It was unclear how the model ended up in the storage unit and who had it before its discovery.

The original U.S.S. Enterprise, a 33-inch model, was mostly made of solid wood by Richard C. Datin, a model maker for the Howard Anderson Company, a special-effects company that created the opening credits for some of the 20th century’s biggest TV shows .

An enlarged 11-foot model was used in subsequent “Star Trek” television episodes, and is now part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum , where it was donated by Paramount Studios in 1974.

Mr. Roddenberry, who said he gave the seller a “reward” for its recovery but did not disclose the terms, assembled a group of “Star Trek” production veterans, model makers and restoration specialists in Beverly Hills to authenticate the find.

The group included a “Star Trek” art supervisor, Michael Okuda, and his wife, Denise, an artist on “Star Trek” television series and films, and Gary Kerr, a “Trek x-pert” who served as technical consultant for the Smithsonian during a 2016 restoration of the 11-foot model.

“We spent at least an hour photographing it, inspecting the paint, inspecting the dirt, looking under the base, the patina on the stem, the grain in the wood,” Mr. Roddenberry said.

“It was a unanimous ‘This is 100 percent the one,’” he said.

Gene Roddenberry, who died in 1991 , kept the original model, which appeared in the show’s opening credits and pilot episode, on his desk.

Mr. Kerr compared the model to 1960s photos he had of the model on Mr. Roddenberry’s desk.

“The wood grain matched exactly, so that was it,” he said on Saturday.

The model went missing after Mr. Roddenberry lent it to the makers of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture,” which was released in 1979, Mr. Maddalena said.

“This is a major discovery,” he said, likening the model to the ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz,” a prop that was stolen in 2005 and recovered by the F.B.I. in 2018, and that Heritage Auctions is selling.

While the slippers represent hope, he said, the starship Enterprise model “represents dreams.”

“It’s a portal to what could be,” he said.

5 ways star trek: discovery’s mirror enterprise is different from uss enterprise.

The ISS Enterprise made a surprising return in Star Trek: Discovery, but what makes the Mirror Universe's starship different from the USS Enterprise?

WARNING: Contains SPOILERS for Star Trek: Discovery, season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors"

  • ISS Enterprise from Mirror Universe makes a surprising return in Star Trek: Discovery, revealing its history and role as a refugee ship.
  • Star Trek: Discovery used sets from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to recreate the ISS Enterprise, showcasing its damaged state.
  • The ISS Enterprise survived until the 32nd century, becoming a beacon of hope like the USS Enterprise in both the Prime and Mirror Universes.

The Mirror Universe ISS Enterprise made a surprising return in Star Trek: Discovery , and the starship differs from the USS Enterprise of Star Trek 's Prime Timeline in several ways. Previously, the ISS Enterprise made its first and only appearance in the classic Star Trek: The Original Series episode, "Mirror, Mirror," which saw Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and some of his crew members travel to the Mirror Universe. The ISS Enterprise was the Mirror Universe's doppelganger of the Constitution Class USS Enterprise, and Star Trek: The Original Series simply redressed the Enterprise's sets to evoke the darker alternate reality.

In Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5 , "Mirrors," Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the USS Discovery continue their search for the powerful technology of the Progenitors. Their next clue leads them into a strange wormhole, where they encounter the ISS Enterprise in a pocket of interdimensional space. As Burnham and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) face off against determined couriers Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis), they uncover more about the history of the ISS Enterprise. Directed by Jen McGowan and written by Johanna Lee and Carlos Cisco, "Mirrors" reveals several differences between the USS Enterprise and her Mirror Universe counterpart.

Kirk’s Starship Enterprise Returns In Star Trek: Discovery - With A Big Twist

5 the iss enterprise used star trek: strange new worlds' sets, captain pike's enterprise sets were redressed to be its mirror universe counterpart..

To bring the ISS Enterprise to life, Star Trek: Discovery made use of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' USS Enterprise sets. With different lighting, significant damage, and some logos for the Terran Empire, Captain Christopher Pike's (Anson Mount) Enterprise became the ISS Enterprise first seen in Star Trek: The Original Series' "Mirror, Mirror." Discovery season 5 was filmed in late 2022 during the gap between filming for Strange New Worlds seasons 2 and 3, and they made great use of the bridge, sickbay, transporter room, and hallway sets.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has also filmed on Star Trek: Discovery sets, such as turning Federatiion headquarters into the chambers for Number One's (Rebecca Romijn) trial in Strange New Worlds season 2, episode 2, "Ad Astra Per Aspera."

Throughout Star Trek's long history , the franchise has found different ways to depict old ships and other settings. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's "Trials and Tribble-ations," for example, used footage from the classic TOS episode "The Trouble With Tribbles" combined with new footage of DS9's cast. While parts of the original Enterprise bridge set were recreated for "Trials and Tribble-ations," a full bridge set of a Constitution Class starship was not recreated until the two-part Mirror Universe episode of Star Trek: Enterprise , "In a Mirror, Darkly."

Star Trek: Picard season 3 also completely rebuilt a starship bridge set, this time the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

As Captain Burnham and Booker explore the ISS Enterprise, they find a plaque on the wall that details some of the derelict starship's history. While almost every version of the Enterprise has had a plaque of some kind, they have never given a description of the ship's history in this way. Star Trek 's starship plaques are often in the background and thus hard to decipher. They typically give the name of the ship, the date and location where the ship was built, and sometimes a list of names of real-life production people who built the sets.

The plaque on the ISS Enterprise reveals that Mirror Universe Spock made significant reforms in the Terran Empire, but was killed by those who disagreed with him. However, those who believed in his ideals stole the ISS Enterprise and found a way to the Prime Universe, with help from Mirror Universe Saru (Doug Jones) - turns out he's "Action Saru in any universe." The crew and refugees aboard this ship likely left the plaque as a way to share the ship's story with whoever happened to find her.

3 Refugees Used The ISS Enterprise To Flee The Mirror Universe

The iss enterprise became a lifeboat for refugees seeking a better life..

After Spock's reforms changed the way the Terran Empire was run, the Empire was not as well equipped to defend itself from the Klingon/Cardassian Alliance. This Alliance eventually conquered the Empire, forcing the Terrans and Vulcans into slavery, and violently quashing any attempts at rebellion. Some rebels, however, managed to successfully stand against the Empire, at least long enough to gather a ship full of refugees and escape to the Prime Universe.

The Mirror Universe's Spock (Leonard Nimoy) became the High Chancellor who reformed the Terran Empire but was later assasinated.

While the crew of the original USS Enterprise often helped refugees and others in need, this was not the ship's main purpose. The ISS Enterprise was originally a warship used by the Terran Empire, before its crew mutinied and fled the brutal Mirror Universe. For this undoubtedly dangerous journey, the ISS Enterprise became a refugee ship, giving those who had believed in Spock's reforms the chance for a new life in a brighter universe.

What Happened To Mirror Universe Captain Kirk In Star Trek?

2 the iss enterprise survived until the 32nd century, no other enterprise has survived as long as the iss enterprise..

After the ISS Enterprise traveled to the Prime Universe, it ended up inside interdimensional space, where it remained undetected for centuries. Although the ship had sustained significant damage, it was salvageable and able to be sent back to Starfleet after Captain Burnham and Book used it to escape through the wormhole. While the technology on the ISS Enterprise is very outdated, the Federation will likely be interested in a 23rd-century starship from the Mirror Universe, particularly one as important as the Enterprise.

By the 32nd century, travel between the Mirror Universe and the Prime Universe had already "been impossible for centuries," according to Captain Burnham.

As Star Trek has a habit of destroying the Starship Enterprise , the ISS Enterprise is likely the longest-surviving ship of that name . The original USS Enterprise (NCC-1701), as commanded by Captain Pike and Captain Kirk, was destroyed in 2285 when Kirk was forced to initiate self-destruct to thwart a Klingon boarding party in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock . Several different ships have taken the name Enterprise over the years, but none have survived for as long as the ISS Enterprise.

1 One Surprising Thing The Mirror Universe Ship & USS Enterprise Have In Common

The starship enterprise is a beacon of hope in every universe..

The Mirror Universe's ISS Enterprise may have several noticeable differences from its Prime Universe counterpart, but both ships became a beacon of hope for the people aboard. Throughout the journeys of Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds , the USS Enterprise has come to represent hope for numerous peoples and civilizations all over the galaxy. Countless lives would have been lost (and the galaxy destroyed multiple times over) if not for ships named Enterprise . While the ISS Enterprise caused a lot of harm during its time as a Terran warship, in the end, it became a lifeboat for the people who wanted to leave the Mirror Universe.

Star Trek: Discovery has proven that, no matter the universe, the Starship Enterprise remains a beacon of hope and a spark of light in the darkness.

Wanting to escape the violence and darkness of their own universe, the refugees risked their lives for a chance at peace and freedom. When Captain Kirk and his crew first visited the ISS Enterprise, most of its crew members were just as ruthless as every other Terran. But Kirk took a chance on Mirror Universe Spock, and while Spock's reforms ultimately failed, he inspired some Terrans to seek out a better life. If nothing else, Star Trek: Discovery has proven that, no matter the universe, the Starship Enterprise remains a beacon of hope and a spark of light in the darkness.

Kirks Starship Enterprise Returns In Star Trek: Discovery - With A Big Twist

Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, Episode 5 - "Mirrors"

  • The Mirror Universe's ISS Enterprise, last seen in Star Trek: The Original Series' "Mirror, Mirror," makes a shocking return in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5.
  • Star Trek: Discovery filmed scenes on the USS Enterprise set of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
  • The ISS Enterprise now exists in the 32nd century, offering a new glimpse into the alternate reality of the Mirror Universe.

Captain James T. Kirk's (William Shatner) Starship Enterprise makes a shocking return in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, but with a jaw-dropping twist - it's the ISS Enterprise from Star Trek: The Original Series ' "Mirror, Mirror"! Written by Johanna Lee & Carlos Cisco and directed by Jen McGowan, Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors," sees Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) enter interdimensional space to pursue Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis) and the next clue to the Progenitors' ancient treasure. What Burnham and Book never expected to find was the Mirror Universe's derelict ISS Enterprise.

Star Trek: Discovery picked up the mantle of the Mirror Universe from Star Trek: The Original Series , Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , and Star Trek; Enterprise. Discovery 's season 1's game-changing Mirror Universe arc introduced Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), who would enter Star Trek 's Prime Universe and is now headlining Paramount+'s upcoming Star Trek: Section 31 movie. Star Trek: Discovery deepened the saga of the Mirror Universe, but the alternate reality's final appearance was in Star Trek: Discovery season 3. Thanks to Star Trek 's Temporal Wars , it's now impossible for the Prime and Mirror Universes to cross over in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century.

Individuals who both time travel and cross from Star Trek' s Prime and Mirror Universes suffer a lethal medical condition, such as what happened to Emperor Georgiou.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 Returning Cast & New Character Guide

Star trek: discovery brings back kirks mirror universe starship enterprise, the iss enterprise last appeared in star trek: the original series' "mirror, mirror".

The Mirror Universe's ISS Enterprise in Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5 is the same Constitution Class starship from Star Trek: The Original Series season 2, episode 4, "Mirror, Mirror," which was the ISS Enterprise's only prior canonical appearance. The ISS Enterprise was trapped in interdimensional space and abandoned by its crew, who were refugees and freedom fighters attempting to flee the Mirror Universe for Star Trek 's Prime Universe in the 24th century. As Captain Burnham later learned, the refugees made it to the Prime Universe, and one scientist even became a Starfleet Admiral.

In Star Trek: Enterprise season 4's "In A Mirror, Darkly", the 22nd-century Terran Empire gained control of the Constitution Class USS Defiant, which crossed over and time traveled from the 23rd-century Prime Universe.

In Star Trek: The Original Series ' "Mirror, Mirror", the ISS Enterprise was commanded by Captain James T. Kirk who assassinated its prior Captain, Christopher Pike (Jeffrey Hunter). "Mirror, Mirror" saw the Prime Universe's Kirk, Lt. Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), and Scotty (James Doohan) switch places with their Mirror counterparts due to a transporter accident during an ion storm. Before switching back, Prime Kirk planted a seed with the goateed Mirror Spock (Leonard Nimoy) to take control of the Terran Empire and institute reforms to prevent the inevitable destruction of the Empire.

Mirror Spock's reforms were successful but ultimately weakened the Terran Empire, which was conquered by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, as seen in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Star Trek: Discovery Filmed Season 5s Enterprise On Strange New Worlds Set

Star trek: strange new worlds was on hiatus after season 2..

Star Trek: Discovery season 5, episode 5, "Mirrors", was filmed on the USS Enterprise set of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds . When Discovery season 5 was in production in late 2022, Strange New Worlds was on hiatus after completing season 2 filming in June . ( Strange New Worlds wouldn't begin season 3 production until December 2023.) Sonequa Martin-Green, David Ajala, Eve Harlow, and Elias Toufexis shot on Strange New Worlds ' sets, which are located in Toronto where Star Trek: Discovery also filmed.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 is in production, and the series has been renewed for season 4.

Star Trek: Discovery redressed Strange New Worlds ' USS Enterprise set to become the ISS Enterprise. Scenes were filmed on the Enterprise's bridge, hallways, and medical bay. Interestingly, by using Strange New Worlds ' Enterprise set, which depicts the USS Enterprise before Captain Kirk assumes command, Star Trek: Discovery season 5 establishes that the ISS Enterprise, which crossed into the Prime Universe decades after Star Trek: The Original Series , is the same ship as in "Mirror, Mirror" despite the very different interiors.

Star Trek: Enterprise recreated the sets of Star Trek: The Original Series ' USS Enterprise for the interiors of the USS Defiant.

What Happens To Mirror Universes Enterprise In Star Trek: Discovery?

The 32nd century just got another 23rd-century starship.

Captain Burnham and Cleveland Booker piloted the ISS Enterprise out of interdimensional space and into Star Trek 's Prime Universe with the help of the USS Discovery. Afterward, Burnham assigned Lt. Commanders Kayla Detmer (Emily Coutts) and Joann Owosekun (Oyin Oladejo) to fly the ISS Enterprise to Federation headquarters, so that the Mirror Universe's starship could be put into "storage". However, there are now fascinating ramifications to the ISS Enterprise existing in Star Trek: Discovery 's 32nd century .

Amazingly, the ISS Enterprise is also now the second 23rd-century starship in 3191 along with the USS Discovery itself.

Although the ISS Enterprise is obsolete by 32nd-century standards, it's still a bonanza of Mirror Universe technology that the United Federation of Planets has now acquired . This would certainly be of interest to Dr. Kovich (David Cronenberg). The 23rd-century ISS Enterprise is a window not just to 900 years ago, but also to the alternate reality, especially since the Mirror Universe is now sealed off permanently from the Federation. Amazingly, the ISS Enterprise is also now the second 23rd-century starship in 3191 along with the USS Discovery itself. Perhaps the ISS Enterprise will reappear and play a role in the second half of Star Trek: Discovery season 5.
