Fireworks at Buile Hill Park

Fireworks at Buile Hill Park , Salford 4 November 2023 Entrance is free — Visit now

Bringing more than just fireworks, you’ll find live music, illuminated installations and a fire walk in Salford’s Buile Hill Park on 4 November, as Salford City Council teams up with some of the region’s most cherished independent arts organisations.

Gates open at 4pm, ahead of three firework displays taking place throughout the night. Up first at 5.30pm, the Little Sparks display will feature low level fireworks suitable for younger children, followed by the bigger Firecracker display at 6.30pm and culminating with the 20-minute long main event at 7.30pm.

In between the fireworks, the culturally curious have plenty to investigate. Salford’s own From The Other, who programme DIY-spirited music events and good times up and down the region, have their own stage at the event. There’ll be performances from Krin with a combination of African rhythms and analogue synths, street smart indie-pop newcomer Alex Spencer, and New York Brass Band bringing a New Orleans style party to the event. Linking it all together, Pops Roberts (founder of local neo-soul/R&B band Lovescene) will be hosting and DJing through the evening.

On the visual arts side of things, an illuminated installation comes courtesy of Islington Mill mainstays, Lurid Ultra Hybrid, whose sculptures invite you to glimpse a post-apocalyptic world in which radiation has fused plant and animal together to form new hybrid creatures, which glow under a permanent ultraviolet sunset. Consider us intrigued.

More light-based adventures come in the form of a fire walk from outdoor arts experts Walk the Plank, which will involve fire beacons lighting a trail through the park, plus two firepits from fellow outdoor adventurers Busy Bushcraft, who’ll have marshmallows for you to toast.

If insanely sweet treats aren’t your thing, no matter, there’ll be plenty of indie food and drink retailers, whose delicious concoctions you should probably scoff after visiting the obligatory funfair.

Best of all, entry is entirely FREE.

START THE WEEKEND WITH A BANG WITH FIREWORK FUN AT SALFORD'S BUILE HILL & PRINCES PARKS THIS NOVEMBER

  • | Bonfire Night
  • | Free Event

Salford's much loved Fireworks Weekend is back with a bang this year at two Salford Parks.

Buile Hill Park on Saturday 4 November & Princes Park Irlam on Sunday 5 November.

As is the case with last years events, there will be no bonfire at Buile Hill Park due to safety concerns, although there will be a fire at Irlam's Princes Park.

bhpbf.jpg.a2b781ec9bb3bfb073f42c7a716022f3.jpg.2318c9c368f312b7e01e0dcacedf7c21.jpg

These are both FREE events and as you can imagine they are very well attended, as such parking can be difficult so it is advisable to use public transport where and when possible. Please avoid blocking access for local residents.

As usual, there will be funfairs at both events as well as food trucks etc...

We will update this article as soon as we know the full details.

Breaking News

Times and details announced for salford firework displays.

visit salford fireworks

Two parks in Salford will be hosting free firework events despite ongoing cancellations throughout Greater Manchester.

Buile Hill Park will be hosting its firework display on November 5th with gates opening at 16:00 for the public. There will be three displays, with smaller shows for younger children and any visitors who do not like loud bangs. This will be followed by the main display.

On Sunday November 6th, Irlam Prince’s Park will be hosting its annual firework night. Gates open to the public at 17:00 with the bonfire starting at 19:00 and then the firework display half an hour later.

There will be no bonfire this year due to the park trying to reduce its carbon footprint. This coincides with Manchester’s ambition to be a net carbon city by 2038.

This is the first time both Buile Hill Park and Irlam Prince’s Park have hosted the firework displays since 2019, with a last minute cancellation due to covid-19 restrictions sparking fury from the local community last year.

This year, both Salford events have been confirmed via Tweets by Salford City Council, despite firework displays such as Heaton Park’s already being cancelled in Manchester due to budgetary costs.

We’re proud to be hosting our Salford Firework Weekend and looking forward to welcoming residents to fantastic, free events for the whole family to enjoy🎆 Find out more: https://t.co/VX8NRBqZX1 pic.twitter.com/OihAdw1Gjz

— Salford City Council (@SalfordCouncil) October 12, 2022

Manchester Council have said they can not afford to host council run displays due to increased council budget pressures.

Both events are sponsored by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services and controlled by the emergency services in order to keep everyone safe.

Bonfire Night Displays near YOU! 🎆

Buile fireworks

Looking to celebrate Bonfire Night in Manchester this year with a bang? We’ve got our top five events happening in Salford and Greater Manchester!

Filled with scorching bonfires, sparkling fireworks and tasty treats, Bonfire Nights offer a perfect opportunity to fill your weekend and give you a chance to relax, have fun and take a break from studying.

For those who aren't familiar, Bonfire nights are a tradition that date back to the 1600’s. To celebrate the failed attempt of Guy Fawkes and his group to blow up the House of Parliament in London back in 1605, the night of November 5th is commemorated each year with bonfires and fireworks.

And as a few Bonfire Night events have been canceled this year, we’ve put together a list of the best Bonfire Nights happening in Greater Manchester for Salford students to enjoy. Let's check them out!

❖ Buile Hill Park

Things to do | st. johns river festival of the arts brings nearly 140 artists to sanford this weekend.

Downtown Sanford is bustling with people on most weekends but will be especially busy with a flurry of music, arts and visitors wandering the historic brick streets this weekend.

The St. Johns River Festival of the Arts is back for its 13th annual event, with nearly 140 artists setting up booths in downtown Sanford from April 27-28. The city’s thousands of visitors can explore sculpture, jewelry, mixed media, photography, painting, leatherwork, woodworking and more.

Kim House, the festival’s president, said Sanford’s unique charm helps inspire people to attend this event.

“I think the setting in Sanford has a lot to do with it. There’s free parking, and everything is accessible within a couple of blocks,” she said. “The community is really receptive to this event. They really care about it and want it to be in Sanford. That feeling gets passed onto the visitors.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit Art for Kids, a scholarship program that provides young artists in Seminole County with studio space, transportation, and instructors.

As a former artist herself, House said that creators and guests alike appreciate having space between booths and room to spread out throughout the festival.

“We want artists to be able to use the sides of their tents. We want for there to be breathing room in between tents,” she said. “An advantage of our festival is it isn’t too big. It can be overwhelming when you go to a festival that has 300 booths in it.”

Local, regional and national artists will vie for  $15,000 in prizes , including a $3,000 Best of Show award, two $900 Juror’s Choice awards, eight Awards of Excellence of $800 each and eight Awards of Distinction of $500 each.

In addition to browsing a wide selection of high-quality art, visitors can explore a food court, craft beer, art workshops, live music and entertainment. Live demonstrations, including woodturners and weavers, can give guests an insight into how art is made.

Whether visitors are just browsing or planning to buy a new piece for their home, House said the event aims to be as accessible as possible.

“You can find things for $20 or things for $15,000,” she said. “We’ve been voted in the top 200 art shows in the Southeast by artists. That’s a big feather in our cap.”

The festival is free to attend; Sanford has plenty of options for free parking. Pets are not allowed. For more information, visit stjohnsriverartfest.com .

“We’re so happy to once again create an opportunity for the community to be face-to-face with art and creativity from so many talented artists,” Kim House, president of St. Johns River Festival of the Arts, said in a release. “This event wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors and support from the city and CRA, and all our dedicated volunteers, and we’re so grateful to everyone who makes it a success each year.”

[ STORY CONTINUES BELOW]

In addition to artists, there will be live music, a culinary arts food court and arts demonstrations.

The festival sponsors “Art-for-Kids,” a scholarship program “designed to encourage an appreciation and understanding of the arts,” event organizers said.

“The St. Johns River Festival of the Arts board of directors feels strongly that the arts impact our lives in dramatic fashion and is the perfect way to explore new horizons, stimulate imagination, creativity and also develop self-esteem and interpersonal skills,” the event’s website reads.

Two fine art jurors will select the best pieces by the end of the event and $15,000 in prizes will be awarded to the winners.

The festival has free admission and free parking for both days, which runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
