Fiona Giusto - Excellent Tour

My wife and 2 tean age children traveled to Venice on June 7 and 8th. We hired Fiona for a 2 hour tour on the 7th and 4 hours on the 8th. I had done research on tourguides in Venice and contacted Fiona directly. She responded quickly and we let her plan the itinerary. We also had her arrange a water taxi for 1 hour as part of the 4 hour tour on the 8th. All I can say is this was money well spent as she showed us a Venice we would never have come to know. Instead of wondering around on our own and no doubt getting lost in the city, she lead us on a tour only a local could take you on. She involved our children and made the tour interesting to them. She is personable, speaks excellent English and did not shy away from any question. I would have no hesitation on using her services again and would highly recommend her to any traveler who wanted to see Venice. While I had reservations of just staying in Venice for about 30 hours, she made the decision to visit a great one. Book her, you will not regret it.

I’ve contact Fiona Giusto via email and she was very patient in working out the detail of the logistics of where we can/should meet. We missed one ferry so we were 20 min. late, but she greeted us with a big smile and never complaint. My husband and I had Fiona guided us thru St. Marks Cathedral, after which I asked her to just show us the Venice she loved. She shared sights and information that were fascinating, and much more interesting than if I just read it in a guidebook. She knows Venice well, spoke clearly and was very in tune with our needs. She noticed that my husband, who had misplaced his sunglasses, was uncomfortable with the mid-day sun (and not paying attention to her), so she took us to a shop where he was able to pick up a nice pair of brand name sunglasses for a very reasonable price. She had a tour with another group after us, but she left us good directions on how to get back to our ship. We booked Fiona Giusto for two tours on our recent trip to Venice and we really could not have done better. On our first night we met at around 5.00pm for a tour of the Doges Palace followed by a water taxi tour. Two and a half hours later we really felt as though we knew Venice! Fiona's explanations and easy going style was an absolute delight. On our second day we took a walking tour of the North Western sector - and yet again Fiona brought this to life for us. As a result of Fiona's insight, help and advice all four of us in the party thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Venice. The tours were a marvellous way for us to get a very good understanding of history and culture and we thoroughly recommend Fiona - her knowledge and passion for Venice are a wonderful experience.

Went to Venice in 2011 (October) it was a brief look as we were on a cruise, but in saying that, we arrived early in the morning aboard the "Celebrity Eclipse" The mist was over the panaramic view of Venice , it was superb! We then did an excursion from the ship which include all the highlights. All up to expectations. When the time came to depart, the ship (It's a big one) pulled out with beautiful classic music playing, and there was Venice at it's best. Brought tears to the eyes! Sentimental old fool!

At very short notice and awkward timing (just after New Year) "A Guide in Venice" proved to be a hit to me and my 12 year old son. Sabrina (our guide) was interesting, flexible to include our interests, and professional despite the weather! I can recommend the service with enthusiasm!

If you ever want to have a great trip w/ college age kids...landing in Venice for Carnival is a great idea. Lots of fun in the streets and squares...and then tours of the sights...we did the canal tour at twilight...magical!

I'd like to join in the chorus of those praising Fiona Giusto. She's witty, funny, extraordinarily well informed, and a wonderful guide. The depth of her knowledge about Venice is exceptional, but it's her presentation of information that makes her really stand out. We hired two other guides for private tours in Italy, and while they all had their moments, Fiona towers above them all.

Our very first tour of Venice with Fiona Giusto

After a 10 hour flight we arrived in Venice and made our way by water taxi to our Hotel, the Savoia Jolanda. We had lunch as our room was not ready for us when we arrived. Promptly at 1 Fiona met us in the hotel lobby. She is a delightful, energetic and well informed guide. Not to mention very friendly and accommodating. It was just the three of us as my husband set up all our tours this way so as to make the most of the time we had to spend in each location. It was a bit more expensive but worth every penny to go to the head of each line and have the total concentration of the guide on us instead of 10, 20 or even more people. She took us to all the famous landmarks in St. Mark's Square, the former poltical center of the Venetian Republic, the Doge's Palace, which contains famous canvases by Titian, Veronese and Tintoretto. We crossed the Bridge of Sighs to walk through the dark cells in the Dungeons. We also saw the Pala d'Oro which is famous for the golden altar screen consisting of Byzantine enamels and beautiful gems of every kind. We walked through a labyrinth of streets to Campo Santa Maria Formosa in the district of Castello to the former house (maybe) of Marco Polo. By that time we were ready to cross the Rialto Bridge and on to a view of the Grand Canal. Our time with Fiona was well spent and we think we learned a great deal about Venice and it's history as well as a mini art history lesson. She is a dynamo. Needless to say we were very tired and after a well deserved dinner, we slept the sleep of the exhausted.

Our two hour tour to St Marks and beyond was our first tour of Venice and very much appreciated. I was traveling with two children, aged 10 and 12, and what I loved about Fiona was that she talked to them, not just to me. She really engaged with them, joking and giving them titbits of information, the sort of stuff that children would appreciate. I have booked "family" tours before, but not many of the guides realize that the whole point of these tours is to engage with and interest the children, not just the adults. This is exactly what Fiona managed to do, thank you very much.

Our recent trip to Venice was made grand by the expertise of tour guide Cristina Pigozzi. We went on a comprehensive boat tour of the islands Murano, Burano, and Torcello, and received more than our Euro's worth for the experience. I would highly recommend her services.

Fiona is the best. Her knowledge about Venice is the "real one" for a true born and raised in Venice. She is punctual, professional, respectfull and understand your needs. You can see Venice by yourself, but Fiona makes you have a different experience. Thank you for your time with us.

Fiona guided through some of the most famous and least famous parts of Venice. Being born and raised in Venice, Fiona was extremely knowledgeable of the history the City's history. Her English was very good and communication was smooth and easy. Fiona made the trip very memorable for our party of 4. I highly recommend Fiona for a walking tour of Venice. We escaped the tourist crush of Venice by touring with Tommaso in his original timber boat off the grand canal & out into the huge lagoon. To be out on the water looking at the island where all the fruit and veg is grown that supplies Venice, & Murano glass, and various other islands including the beautiful Burano was so refreshing. His descriptions and history of Venice as we skimmed the clear water gave us another perspective. On Burano my husband & I walked on our own and enjoyed the untouched village of brightly painted cottages and fishermen drying their nets from the morning catch..their wives making lace after the morning chores..just a step back in time. Thank you Tommaso for sharing the simple beauty surrounding Venice and your natural laid back friendly personality and knowledge Lynette G

Fiona Giusto - Guide

Fiona Giusto took us on two wonderful tours last week. We visited the Doge's Palace which she completely brought alive and on another day we visited the Basilica and the Campanile in Piazzo San Marco. Fiona is a tremendous guide.She is articulate, engaging and her english is excellent. We could not recommend her more highly, especially if, as we were, you are first time visitors to Venice. We took a two hour tour of The Doge's Palace and Piazza San Marco with Fiona. Fiona is a very good guide, ready with a smile always as well as excellent oration skills combined with a very good knowledge of Venetian history to answer any related questions. Two hours went by in a jiffy in her company and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Recommended tour for anyone who is looking for a quick catch up into glimpse of Venice's rich history.

This walking tour, conducted by Fiona, was recommended as a "must do" in Venice, and proved to be a perfect choice. Fiona is articulate, professional, and clearly has a passion for educating her guests as to the history and highlights of this unique city. In 3 hours we were thoroughly introduced to many of the facets of Venetian life. Fiona was prompt in all her dealings with us, both via email and on meeting us at our hotel. A wonderful introduction to Venice. Should you be able to participate in this tour, then I suggest you will not be disappointed.

Our family of 10 had a wonderful day in Venice with Fiona. Fiona, being a native of Venice, gave us incredible stories that were unique compared to the standard tours one can receive. Fiona made our trip incredibly special.

I booked a 2 hour tour with Fiona via email in advance of our arrival in Venice. Travelling with my 12 year old daughter, Fiona tailored our tour to meet the needs of a younger audience and those on their first visit to Venice. Fiona suggested splitting the tour into two halves; the first by boat touring the grand canal and the second on foot through the main centre. It was the perfect introduction to Venice. She provided an excellent overview of Venetian history and some insight into modern living in Venice. 
Fiona was very likeable, hugely professional and filled with wonderful facts of Venice. I only wish we had booked her over two days so we could learn even more and listen to Fiona’s wonderful stories of Venice. I will most certainly book Fiona again on our next visit to the city.

We organized a tour with Fiona in advance. She was very informative and accommodative. She tailored her tour to our needs. Our tour started on San Marco Square and lasted for an hour and a half. It was a basic tour, but we covered a lot of ground. Fiona's stories were charming and my children enjoyed her way of showing off spectacular Venice. Fiona is lovely and our next time in Venice we will have her show and share more about this unforgettable place!
