Rammstein’s Spectacular Stage Setup Takes Over 60 Hours
You've probably seen photos and videos of Rammstein performing live. It's a mass of explosions, lights, fire and... enormous genitalia that shoot out foam. Have you ever wondered how much effort goes into setting up the stadiums for such insanity? It takes over 60 hours.
To show just how much planning goes into each and every Rammstein show, the German industrial group uploaded a time lapse video that provides an aerial view of the crews getting to work inside the stadium. They start out by lining the ground with metal flooring, then they assemble the very intricate stage.
Watch the video below.
If you had any questions as to why there are a few days between each show, now you'll understand why. Maybe you'll gain even more of an appreciation for the live show once you see it, as well.
Rammstein's European tour kicks off in Austria in May and concludes in Sweden in August. Then, they'll head over to North America for a 10-city headlining stadium stint. See the dates below, and get tickets here . How could you not want to after watching that?

Rammstein's First Show in 3 Years: See Explosive Videos, Setlist
Rammstein are finally back to doing what they do best: entertaining hoards of wide-eyed stadium-goers with fuck-tons of fire and massive phallic machines. Last night (May 15th), the German industrial freaks returned to the stage for the first time since summer 2019 to kick off their European tour with a show in Prague. The 21-song setlist was stacked with classic bangers as well as a healthy dose of fresh material from their brand new album Zeit .
The band gave "Armee der Tristen," "Zick Zack," "Zeit," and "Adieu" their big stage debuts and put on a dazzling show that included fire-spewing backpacks, kissing, and a huge dick-shaped machine that sprays god-knows-what into the crowd. Luckily, there's tons of fan-shot footage from throughout the evening, which you can watch above and below via YouTube — and also peep the full setlist courtesy of Setlist.fm .

Rammstein's staging Precision
61 hours. 7 days. Time lapse of the precision required to build Rammstein's concert stage.
Robert Collings
The music industry has a certain reputation. Fame. Spectacle. Sure. It's also infamously unorganized and chaotic. To misquote Hunter S. Thompson, it's an industry "where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs."
Whether that's still true today, I can't say. I haven't work in the biz for some time. Reputation notwithstanding, you might not be aware of the precision required to put on a stadium show and tour. Engineering. Logistics. All of it.
Dozens of people moving tonnes of steel. Cranes and forklifts. 18 trucks hauling backline, lighting, audio, and rigging.
In the mesmerizing time lapse (below) by German band Rammstein , it takes 61 hours across 7 days to build the stage, hang the rigging, and set the backline for a live performance in Dresden, Germany.
Rammstein is taking their show—and that shage—on the road this summer. If you’ve never seen a Rammstein show, it’s a spectacle. They're currently touring Europe and will be in North America mid-2022.
Interestingly, the last song of their 2022 set is Adieu , from their recently released album Ziet ("time" in German). Rumors are spreading that this might be their last tour. It will, no doubt, be delivered with fire and precision.

The two-night show in early June will feature clips from some of “the best Download headliner performances from the past 10 years” including Rammstein alongside Linkin Park , Metallica , Slipknot , Iron Maiden , Guns N’ Roses and more.
The band also recently confirmed that they recorded a new album during the coronavirus lockdown . “The fact that we couldn’t perform live increased our creativity,” keyboardist Christian ‘Flake’ Lorenz told Motor Music . “We had more time to think of new things and less distraction. As a result, we recorded a record that we hadn’t planned on.”
In other news, a Russian activist has been sentenced to prison for sharing Rammstein’s video for ‘Pussy’ online six years ago.
Andrei Borovikov was charged with “manufacturing and distributing pornography” and was later found guilty by a Russian court.

This Time-Lapse Video Of Rammstein's Stage Being Built Is Absolutely Epic
Watch how Rammstein's incredible stage set-up is built – and just how long it takes the crew to do so…
If you've ever seen Rammstein before, you'll know just how much effort they put into their mind-blowing production. But even die-hard fans probably wouldn't have realised it actually takes a full week ahead of the show for the German titans' talented crew to put everything together for the final product.
The band have just released a fascinating time-lapse video showing how their gig at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in Dresden last June was carefully and meticulously crafted, taking a whopping 65 hours to complete. There are countless trucks, crew members and of course a lot of energy to make it all run smoothly – and, to be honest, it's exhausting even watching it.

Last summer, we spoke to Rammstein's lighting designer Roland Griel, as part of production company Woodroffe Bassett, who revealed that around 400 people work on the setting up, taking down, transporting, operation, maintenance, feeding, management, and blowing up of each and every gig. Moreover, there’s even a second team on hand to start work at the following venue, getting ready to set up and build the stage.
“Going into stadiums, you can only bring in about 10 trucks at a time, so you have to make sure you bring in the right one at the right time for what it’s got in it, that there are enough people around,” he said. “I think they’ve got the load out down to four and a half hours now. Then they get in the trucks and drive 500km to the next show. Then they load all the pyro and lights, which takes about eight hours. Repeat that until the tour is over!"
Having been to last year's tour, we can safely say it's all worth it.
Rammstein will be back in Europe this summer, before headlining their first North American stadium tour later in the year.

Rammstein Announce First-Ever North American Stadium Tour
By Suzy Exposito
Suzy Exposito
Renowned for their forward-thinking sounds and pyromanic spectacles, German metal titans Rammstein will finally bring their explosive stadium act to North America this summer.
The highly anticipated tour will kick off August 20th at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, span across eight U.S. stadiums, then close out in Mexico City’s Foro de Sol on September 27th. The tour will be produced by AEG Presents.
The group made headlines in 2019 after guitarists Paul Landers and Richard Kruspe shared an onstage kiss while performing in Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium. The kiss was an act of defiance against Russia’s anti-LGBTQ law, or “gay propaganda” law, which forbids any public expression of homosexuality or gender non-conformity.
Rammstein’s untitled seventh album debuted at Number Nine on the Billboard 200 chart — the band’s first Top 10 position in the U.S. since their inception in 1994. Untitled also ranked Number Eight on Rolling Stone ‘s “ Best Metal Albums of 2019 ” list.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale Friday, January 24th at 10 a.m. local time. For more information, visit Rammstein.com .
