Welcome to Worcester, a forward-looking college where everyone should feel welcomed, valued and respected.

School visits

Each of Oxford’s colleges works with a specific group of local authorities around the UK, prioritising work with communities currently under-represented in higher education.

If you’re a teacher in Worcester’s link areas, we’re your first point of contact within the University and look forward to hearing from you. If you work at a school which is not in our link areas, we recommend finding your link college and getting in touch with them about visiting the University in the first instance.

School visits to the College

Every year, we arrange a large number of visits from state schools and colleges to Oxford. These visits are designed to give pupils an opportunity to learn more about university life, and we’re particularly keen to encourage those from schools with little or no experience of sending applicants to Oxford.

If you’re a teacher interested in bringing a group to Worcester, or if you would like any other information on admissions at Oxford, we’re always pleased to hear from you. Please complete the expression of interest form available below and direct any questions or queries to Zoe Campbell at [email protected] or 01865 288222.

At certain points in the year, we can offer a one-night stay in College for school groups (meals, accommodation and activities included free of charge). These dates will be announced in our newsletter with an expression of interest form.

Typical itinerary

We provide lunch and all activities free of charge on our in-person school visits. A typical programme might be as follows:

  • 10:30 – Arrival
  • 10:45 – Admissions talk / introduction to Oxford
  • 11:30 – Q&A with current students
  • 12:00 – Tour of the College
  • 13:00 – Lunch in the dining hall
  • 14:00 – Academic taster session, interview workshop, visit to museum, or tour of a second college
  • 15:00 – Departure

We can usually accommodate a maximum of 27 people (students + members of staff) on school visits to the College site. The programme can be tweaked to suit the needs of your school and the year group you would like to bring (usually Year 10 or above).

Other types of visit

Outbound visits to your school.

It is sometimes possible for a member of our outreach team to deliver a talk at your school. In the past, we have arranged Year 10 and Year 12 roadshows to West Yorkshire; further information will be posted here when we have further details. If you would like to enquire about arranging a visit to your school on a separate occasion, please send us an email at [email protected] .

Virtual visits

Over the pandemic, we developed a series of virtual workshops which we are happy to deliver to schools over Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Google Classroom. Our virtual visits introduce students to the idea of studying at top universities and answer important questions about subject choice, careers, funding, and the application process. We can tailor the timings and subject matter of each session to suit your school, and can enhance our standard workshop with additional content like a super-curricular academic session and/or a Q&A with undergraduate students.

To arrange a virtual visit, please contact us at [email protected] with your preferred workshop date(s), the number of students you would expect to take part and their year group(s), and any particular requests or requirements you may have for the workshop’s content.

Visiting as an individual

Prospective applicants are always welcome to visit when the College is open. Please email [email protected] in advance of your visit for further information. Head to the Porters’ Lodge at the main entrance on arrival where you’ll be able to collect a copy of our undergraduate prospectus and a self-guided tour map. Unfortunately, it is only possible for visitors to meet current students and admitting tutors at the University Open Days which take place three times each year.
