Agoda is an online travel agency and metasearch engine that’s designed to help you find cheap hotels, home rentals, flights, and airport transfers. It’s owned by Agoda Company Pte. Ltd, headquartered in Singapore, and is a subsidiary of Booking Holdings, which also owns popular websites like Booking.com , Priceline.com , and Kayak .

In this post, we’ll take you through this site to show you how to use it and we’ll do some price comparisons to see if you’ll save money by using Agoda.

Agoda Hotels & Homes

With Agoda , you can search for any type of accommodation, from hotels and resorts to hostels or vacation rentals.

To get started, enter your destination (or specific property) along with your travel dates and number of travelers in the main search box on the home page. If you want to search for a home rental, you can click on agodaHomes or you can filter your Hotels & Homes search results to show just home rentals.

The filtering options on Agoda aren’t quite as robust as on sites like Airbnb or VRBO , but there are a few options. You can filter your results by:

• Homes (this is the same as searching through the agodaHomes tab on the home page).
• Family Friendly (narrows your list to properties with larger rooms and family-friendly amenities).
• I want free breakfast
• Book without a credit card

You’ll find these options on the upper left-hand side of your screen. You’ll also be able to sort your results list by options like price, locations, and reviews.

Each property’s result box will give you basic information including price, cancellation policy, and hotel highlights. The price you see on the search results page does not include taxes and fees . You’ll need to click through and select your room before you see the full price. Be sure to read carefully because sometimes the price won’t include certain fees like a “destination fee” that you’ll have to pay at the hotel.

Agoda’s prices don’t include taxes and fees until you get to the payment section. At first glance, Agoda may appear to offer the cheapest prices, but you’ll need to click through to the final booking stages to see the full price including taxes and fees.

When you’re booking a hotel room on Agoda , you might notice a price match guarantee. This guarantee says that Agoda will match or beat a better price on a hotel room. If you want to submit a Best Price Guarantee claim , be sure the lower rate matches all of Agoda’s criteria:

• Same room and bed type
• Same terms (advance purchase, prepayment, and deposit)
• Same cancellation and change policies
• Must be viewable and instantly bookable on another website
• Must not be part of a third-party loyalty program, promotional offer, or vacation package deal
• Must not require membership (like AAA or AARP )

Let’s take a look to see if you can save money by booking a hotel room through Agoda. We priced out 2 hotel rooms on Agoda and several other leading booking websites to see who had the best prices.

For this example, we priced out a week-long stay at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston . Prices are for the lowest cost room for 7 nights and include all taxes and fees (including any that need to be paid upon arrival at the hotel).

*This price happens to be through Agoda

The interesting thing about this example is that the 3 lowest prices actually came from Agoda! While Trivago offered the lowest price, the booking was through Agoda. The same thing happened when we priced out this hotel on Google Hotels — the lowest price option came from Agoda.

So, in essence, Agoda is selling the same hotel room at 3 different prices — 1 price if you go to Agoda directly, a different price if you go to Agoda through Trivago, and an entirely different price if you get to Agoda through Google Flights.

Hot Tip: Don’t forget, when you book a hotel like Fairmont through a third party, you might not earn loyalty points and any elite status you have may not be recognized. This also applies to popular brands like Marriott , Hyatt, Hilton , and IHG .

In this example, we priced out a week-long stay at The Sofia Hotel in San Diego. Prices are for the lowest cost room for 7 nights and include all taxes and fees (including any that need to be paid upon arrival at the hotel).

In this example, Google Hotels came in with the lowest price, and unfortunately, Agoda had the highest price of all the websites we checked. As you can see, you’ll generally need to shop around a bit to find the best prices on a hotel room.

Agoda Flights

In addition to hotels, you can also use Agoda to find cheap prices on flights. When using Agoda to book flights , the site acts as a metasearch engine. That means you’ll use Agoda to search for your flight but will then be transferred to a separate booking website to complete your purchase. This is a similar model to other popular sites like Kayak or Google Flights .

To get started, just click on Flights in the menu at the top of the screen.

Next, you’ll need to enter your departure location, destination, travel dates, number of travelers, and a class of service in the main search box.

To the left of the search results, you’ll find lots of filtering options including:

• Booking sites
• Flexible options (due to COVID-19 )
• Flight quality
• Layover airports
• Transportation type

On some search results, you may notice a flight labeled as a Hacker Fare . This just means that the ticket is made up of segments from more than 1 airline or booking website and you’ll need to book these parts separately. Hacker Fares can be a good way to save money, but be sure to double-check that both parts are actually available before you start booking the ticket.

By clicking View Deal you’ll be transferred to a separate website to complete your booking.

Hot Tip: Agoda Hacker Fares are made up of separate tickets from different airlines or booking websites. This is a common practice among online travel agencies and metasearch engines. When you’re booking a Hacker Fare, be sure to check that all segments of your flight are available before you start booking your ticket! The only downside is that if you do experience problems or need to make a change to your itinerary, you’ll have more than 1 website to deal with.

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples to see if Agoda can save you money on your next flight. For the first example, we searched for the cheapest option from Chicago O’Hare ( ORD ) to Orlando ( MCO ) on Agoda as well as some other popular flight booking websites.

In the second example, we searched for the cheapest flight option from New York ( JFK ) to Dublin, Ireland (DUB).

In the first example, Expedia offered the lowest price by a few dollars. All of the other websites we checked offered the same price.

In the second example, Agoda tied with Google Flights and Skyscanner to offer the lowest price.

Hot Tip: Don’t forget, when you’re using an online travel agency or metasearch engine like Agoda, flights from Southwest Airlines  won’t show up in the search results.

Agoda Airport Transfer

Agoda can help you book airport transfers from over 2,000 locations worldwide. To get started booking your airport transfer on Agoda, just click on Airport transfer in the top menu.

Then enter your pick up and drop off locations plus pickup date, pickup time, and the number of travelers. If you’re getting picked up at the airport, you can toggle to Landing time to enter your flight information.

Each search result will include important information including:

• Number of passengers allowed
• Number of bags allowed
• Amount of Free Waiting Time
• Meet & Greet eligibility
• Cancellation policy

Then, when you’re ready to book, click Book Ride to complete your reservation.

When you’re searching for an airport transfer, you may notice that some listings carry the COVID-19 Prepared label. This means that at least 2 of the following safety guidelines are being followed.

• The driver wears a face mask
• The vehicle is equipped with sanitizing wipes
• The driver sanitizes the back seat after each trip
• The driver provides hand sanitizer during the ride

Agoda Car Rentals

Agoda also allows you to search for rental cars. To start your search, click on the 3 dots in the menu at the top of the screen and then click on Car rentals .

What you’ll notice next is that you’ll be transferred to Rentalcars.com. Agoda acts as an affiliate for Rentalcars.com so they’ll earn a commission if you choose to rent a car after clicking over from the main website.

To get started with your rental car search, just enter your pick up location plus pick up and drop off dates and times.

In the search results list, you’ll find options from all of the major car rental companies like Alamo , Hertz , Budget , Enterprise , National , Sixt , and Thrifty .

Each search result will clearly display lots of information including:

• The car rental company
• The final price with a breakdown of what you’ll pay now and what you’ll pay at pick up
• Free cancellation, if applicable
• The type of car, including amenities

You may notice that some results are labeled Wild Card . These are what’s known as opaque rentals . That simply means that you won’t know every detail of the car you’re renting until after you complete your reservation. This is a common practice among rental car companies and can often help you save money if you’re not too particular about what type of car you’re renting.

After clicking the blue Select Car button, you’ll be prompted to add a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Coverage. While it’s always a good idea to have insurance when you’re renting a car, you may already have plenty of coverage from the credit card in your wallet.

There are many popular credit cards with rental car insurance , and some, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred ® card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve ® come with primary insurance. Primary insurance is great because you don’t have to make a claim with your existing insurance first.

You’ll also be able to add extras to your rental like an additional driver, child car seat, or GPS at this time.

Then, before you finalize your payment information, you’ll be able to see the breakdown of your price, including what you’ll need to pay upfront and what’s payable at the time of rental.

Let’s take a look at some examples to see if you can save money by renting a car through Agoda.

For the first example, we priced out a week-long rental on Agoda as well as some other popular websites to see who offered the lowest price.

As you can see in this example, Agoda actually came in as the most expensive, with Hotwire offering the best deal.

Example #2:

In this example, we searched for a weekend rental for a standard SUV and compared the prices on all of the websites.

In this example, Agoda was in the middle of the road for pricing, with Priceline coming in with the lowest price.

Bottom Line: No single website will have the lowest prices on rental cars all of the time. It’s best to price out a rental on a few sites before making your reservation to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

If you need some ideas for things to do on your next trip, Agoda can help with that, too! To get started, click on the 3 dots in the top menu and then click on Things to do .

Next, you’ll need to select your destination country and city from the drop-down menu options and fill in your travel dates.

You can scroll through your search results or refine the list by selecting one of the categories at the left-hand side of your screen.

Once you’ve selected your activity, you’ll be transferred to Viator to complete your purchase. Viator is part of TripAdvisor and is a popular website for booking activities.

Bottom Line: You can use Agoda to book flights, hotels, airport transfers, rental cars, and activities.

PointsMAX allows you to earn points in your favorite loyalty program when you use Agoda to book accommodations.

To earn loyalty points through the PointsMAX program, you’ll need to start your hotel search on the PointsMAX page . You can use the main search box and then select your loyalty program afterward or scroll down the page first until you see the list of loyalty programs to select your favorite.

When you’re searching for a hotel through the PointsMAX program, you’ll be able to see how many points you’ll earn for that booking in the search results.

There are a couple of things you’ll want to keep in mind when you’re making a PointsMAX booking.

• PointsMAX bookings may have different rates than regular bookings for the same hotel
• The Agoda Price Match Guarantee does not apply to PointsMAX bookings
• To earn points, the loyalty program you choose must belong to the main guest on the hotel reservation
• PointsMAX bookings can not be adjusted; if you need to make changes, you’ll have to cancel your reservation and start a new one

Bottom Line: PointsMAX is a program that lets you earn points in your favorite loyalty program when you make a hotel booking through Agoda.

AgodaCash is a loyalty program that lets you earn credits that can be applied to hotel bookings through Agoda. You’ll have to sign up for a free Agoda account to see any information about the AgodaCash program.

Once you create an account, click on the drop-down menu next to the dollar sign icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, then click on AgodaCash .

Next, you’ll be able to see how much AgodaCash you’ve earned and redeemed. You’ll earn AgodaCash by booking eligible hotels and homestays. If a location is participating in the AgodaCash program, you’ll see how much cash you’ll earn in the search results box.

Once you’ve earned AgodaCash, it can be used to pay for any eligible booking. There aren’t any minimums when redeeming your AgodaCash and you can even earn AgodaCash on bookings where you’re using AgodaCash as payment.

Bottom Line: AgodaCash can be earned on select hotel and home bookings through Agoda. Once you’ve earned AgodaCash, it can be used to pay for all or part of any eligible booking. You must create a free Agoda account to access AgodaCash.

AgodaVIP is a loyalty program that rewards you for booking hotels through Agoda. There are 3 levels of membership — Member, VIP Silver, and VIP Gold — that are based on the number of your completed bookings in the last 2 years.

Once you create a free account, you’ll be a Member and have access to Insider Deals and the Best Price Guarantee.

After 2 completed bookings in the previous 2 years, you’ll be a Silver VIP member which makes you eligible for VIP deals up to 12% off. After 5 completed bookings in 2 years, you’ll be a Gold VIP member, eligible for VIP deals up to 18% off.

For most of us, reuniting with friends and family is the main reason to travel in 2023. Agoda’s Travel Trends survey asked travellers from India, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to share their top travel goals for the new year.

India (21%), the United States (25%), Australia (31%) and Taiwan (33%) are where travelers will most likely plan a holiday reunion with family or friends. Many also wish to embark on trips to recharge themselves, mentally and physically, with wellness contributing to the number two spot in the ‘reasons to travel’ ranking of Agoda’s Travel Trend survey. Countries with high inclination include India (20%), South Korea (24%), Singapore (25%) and Thailand (29%).

Among people from Japan (44%), Taiwan (24%) and Vietnam (23%), the biggest travel appetite is for (re)discovering food, arts & culture. In fact, a staggering 44 percent of Japanese travelers listed this as their main travel goal, the highest number for any travel objective in a single country. Four times more than Philippines, where only 11 percent are looking to travel for food, arts & culture and seeking adventure is the main reason to leave home (30%). Adventure travel ranks highest among travelers from Indonesia (23%) and India (20%).

The study concluded with reuniting with loved ones, wellness and food, arts & culture making the top three reasons to travel, and adventure and celebrating a milestone rounding out the top five.

METHODOLOGY Agoda survey was conducted in partnership with YouGov polling over 10,000 travellers from across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, USA. This survey was conducted from 8-16 July 2022. All respondents were aged 18 and above.

Agoda’s annual Customer Review Awards have returned for the 2023 edition. This year, the digital travel platform has recognized close to 24,000 properties in over 125 markets. These properties have demonstrated their commitment to exceptional service by achieving customer ratings of ‘8’ or above.

Asian properties have once again emerged as the winners, securing the top spot with nearly 18,000 awards. Following closely behind are Europe and North America in second and third place respectively.

Thailand has been crowned this year’s market champion with a total of 3,362 winning properties. Indonesia comes in second with 3,227 awards, followed by the United States with 1,865. Malaysia and Vietnam have shown significant improvement, jumping to the top five from their previous positions.

In terms of destinations, Bali takes the winning spot for consistently offering the best service, with 845 property awards. Last year’s champion, Bangkok, is now in second place. Jakarta, Chiang Mai, and Kuala Lumpur are the other top destinations.

Agoda understands the importance of customer reviews in providing vital feedback for travelers and partners. These reviews help travelers make informed decisions and allow partners to benchmark their services. Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President of Supply at Agoda, emphasized the significance of these reviews in creating a memorable experience for guests.

The Customer Review Awards evaluate genuine customer reviews based on key criteria such as cleanliness, facilities, location, room comfort, quality, service, and value for money. Properties are also considered based on their pricing strategy, availability, and their utilization of Agoda’s Yield Control System (YCS).

The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.

• Font adjustments – users, can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
• Color adjustments – users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over seven different coloring options.
• Animations – person with epilepsy can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
• Content highlighting – users can choose to emphasize important elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
• Audio muting – users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
• Cognitive disorders – we utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
• Additional functions – we provide users the option to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and many other functions.

Browser and assistive technology compatibility

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Agoda survey unveils global travel trends in 2023

Agoda’s Family Travel Trend survey 2022 reveals that four out of five travellers will take a vacation with immediate family in the next 12 months

With year-end school holidays in full swing, digital travel platform Agoda ’s Family Travel Trend survey 2022 reveals that four out of five travellers will take a vacation with immediate family in the next 12 months and, while travelling with friends proves more popular than travelling with extended family, still more than half or 52 pc are keen to catch up with relatives for their vacation.

According to a press statement, travellers from Singapore (61 pc), Taiwan (61 pc) and Vietnam (59 pc) are most likely to take at least one trip with immediate family. Meanwhile, people from the Philippines (47 pc), Indonesia (40 pc) and Malaysia (35 pc) are most likely to plan two or more family jaunts in the coming year. When it comes to vacationing with extended family, its travellers from Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam that take the top three spots, with those from Japan, Korea, and Singapore least likely to take the whole family along for their travels.

“The more the merrier for holidays seems to be the message across Southeast Asia, India and beyond this year as Asia finally reopens for travel. The Agoda’s Family Travel Survey shows people really want to enjoy the company of friends or extended family on their vacations with more than 80 pc of travellers planning to travel with immediate family and 52 pc opting to travel with other relatives too,” says Enric Casals, Associate Vice President, Southeast Asia and Oceania, Agoda Partner Services.

The statement adds that while Australians are renowned for their love of their mates, but it seems it doesn’t translate to going on holiday with them, with travellers from Australia ranking only 9th most likely to take a trip with friends this year, knocked off the top spot by travellers from the Philippines, followed by Vietnamese and Indian travellers.

When it comes to travelling with families or in a group traveller worldwide are seeking more value for their trips with budget hotels, vacation rentals and inclusive resorts cited as the top three group travel preferences.

“Family travellers often have more complex requirements when choosing their holiday accommodation. Often, they need more space, perhaps with cooking facilities as offered by Agoda Homes, or the services such as babysitting, kids’ clubs, extra beds or interconnecting rooms offered by family-friendly hotels.  Being able to search on one platform, like Agoda, for accommodation, flights, ground transportation and fun filled activities at the destination takes away a lot of the hassle of travel planning, meaning there is more time to relax and enjoy spending time with loved ones,” adds Casals.

Travellers from Philippines (59 pc), India (44 pc) and South Korea (38 pc) showed a high preference for budget friendly hotels, while those from Indonesia (42 pc), Malaysia (39 pc), and Taiwan (38 pc) preferred vacation rentals which tend to offer additional facilities such as kitchens or separate living and sleeping areas. This is in contrast to almost half of Japanese travellers (43 pc) who favoured chain hotels as their accommodation of choice and 34 pc of Thai travellers who leaned towards the convenience of all-inclusive resorts.

Despite travel optimism and growth out pacing pre-Covid levels, 77 pc of travellers globally indicate some concern about international borders closing again while they are overseas. Travellers from most recently opened markets including South Korea and Japan are most concerned, in comparison to those from markets that quickly removed border restrictions including US, Australia and India.

The press statement adds that the survey was conducted in partnership with YouGov polling over 10,000 travellers from across Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea and the United States. This survey was conducted in July and respondents were aged 18 and above.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! We requested a change to our booking due to our delayed flight due to an airport fire. As no one was available at AGODA, we called the hotel who said only AGODA could re-schedule our dates, but they did not send the request to them; they just ignored my request and sent me an automatic reply saying my booking wasn’t changeable. We lost a bit of money, but AGODA lost us as customers and all our family and friends. NEVER AGAIN

Garbage company

Garbage company. Purposely lies to customers and engages in fraud. Booked a hotel in Miami - Sole with Agoda showing full cancellation until April 20. Booked another hotel with them minutes later and tried to cancel and they refused cancellation clearly lying while seeing that we had another property booked through them. Taking them to court and suggesting everyone does the same.

Agoda is a very misleading company. You ALWAYS pay more than quoted booking price. always.

Agoda is a very misleading company. Even if you have confirmed pricing in your local currency, in which case mine in Canadian. They will still convert it into USD an then into you own currency with huge markups. Then end result is you pay a lot more and get charged a lot more than what you agree upon and quoted on. We are talking about a 5% difference! I called their support and they were useless and tried to explain about currency exchange, in which they rob you from the rates. That's how Agoda really makes money.

Appalling service

Appalling service - weird billing practices, email confirmations that don't come and misrepresentations. Booked an airport hotel with a shuttle services - it's 17 miles from the airport and the hotel has a shuttle like Scotland has the loch Ness monster. Booked a cheap hotel but you have to get a taxi you pay more to get there than you do the room When they tell you something negative they terminate the conversation. Many other, better alternatives available.

I had booked a place and paid upfront but decided it it wasn't suitable, I cancelled and refund was in my account within 3 days. Booked again and absolutely no issues on arrival at the imperial hotel blackpool we actually had our room upgraded. Great wee site and excellent value for money compared to others.

Terrible experience with Agoda's…

Terrible experience with Agoda's partner : Get-A-Room. I chose the Pay at the hotel option - my money was immediately taken away from my credit card. The website said: Fully refundable till November - on the confirmation it was written: till the 11 May! I was unable to cancel my booking - it was impossible to click on Manage My Booking - the page was "forbidden" to open. After several unsuccessful phone calls I asked my American friend to help. Eventually they refunded me - but took 40 $ back. I don't think that our currency "recovered" so much in 2 days.. Beware of booking through this company!!

A Scam Company

They purposely advertise better rooms on other platforms to trick people into booking with them and when you get to the hotel, they tell you you booked a MUCH cheaper room. Literal scams and their customer service takes days to get back to you, so there is no help to be found. On top of this, they recognize how they are tricking people and could care less to resolve the situation.

HORRIBLE COSTUMER SUCCESS! Requested an amendment of our resevervation due to unexpected shutdown of all flights going to the country. The hotel was willing to offer a cancellation but the costumer success repeatedly lied sayinf they send over the request, when I was in touch woth hotel staff, knowing it was never sent over. Of course, they were not willing to send proof that the request was ever sent. NEVER AGAIN

I agree with the review of Tom. Booked about 15 times now, no issues & mostly get help pretty Quick. Only the Cashback system needs a upgrade. Because to wait 3 months after a booking to receive your cashback is unacceptable.

Dreadful company

I booked a room with Agoda in Manila which had a $20 dollar cashback after approximately 120 days . When I tried to claim the $20 it would not let me. I tried many times to claim it back unsuccessfully .I contacted Agoda who said email the information and we will sort it out for you,That was the last I heard about it. I shall never use this company again. I have told them in my opinion it is a scamas they ask you to submit all your details again including the credit/debit card you booked with, and they have the details already

I don’t recommend this company at all

I don’t recommend this company at all, they put up dodgy hotels for sale. When I had to cancel my „non-refundable” due to something that has happened in my life, I got lied to by advisors online that a fee waiver could be negotiated. It was a complete lie as Agoda lied about an unsuccessful contact with the hotel, and the hotel didn’t even bother to reply to me which cost me almost £400 because I simply couldn’t be somewhere due to life circumstances. Avoid at all costs!

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with and…

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with and most ridiculous customer ‘service’ (or lack thereof). The ‘best price guarantee’ is an absolute scam, don’t even bother trying. Also they cancelled my booking ON THE DAY I was supposed to check in and offered me $10 (seriously?!) in ‘Agoda Cash’. Unfortunately this ‘Agoda Cash’ has very particular t&c’s - which basically means maybe 0.1% of the hotels are eligible for you to use the cash. :) So, it’s literally not working ever. Whenever I’ve got in touch with them, they have absolutely zero interest in solving the problem (if the happen to respond) and they come up with the most ridiculous unsatisfactory reason that has nothing to do with the situation. Will never, ever book with Agoda again, seriously would rather sleep on the street (which basically is the same if not better anyway)

Reservation cancelled without any heads up

I booked hotel on agoda.com paid full amount same time. When go to the hotel they said your reservation cancelled. Didn't get any warning or info. I called the customer service they reacted as this situation normal. Which last 8 year was booking through hotels.com every month and never get this issue with them. Another 2 hour wasted on the night to resolve the problem. Lesson learned!!!

No refund from Agoda after booking :(

Im not satisfied and wasted my money... I was booking for 3 nights but when I checked out and finished with my credit card payment I noticed it was only 1 night so I cancelled my booking and booked 3 nights... I was not refunded for the 1 night booked by mistake... Tried to contact Agoda but couldn't get any good news about my payment... only response was no refund policy once booked. Not a great recommendation or do not use Agoda at all in making your hotel reservation... a warning to everyone.

Customer Service is a scam

Customer Service is a scam. I canceled my motel reservation but was still charged on my credit card. After phone Customer service requesting refund plus sending them proof of an email cancelation from the motel, I was offer a refund of only $68.00 for a total charge of $466.00. I refused their scammed offer. Told them I would dispute the credit card charge. Do not do business with Agoda. Dishonest scam company.

Booked a hotel room through Agoda but…

Booked a hotel room through Agoda but when I arrived at the hotel I was refused entry to my room and told that there as been a mistake with my booking when I contacted Agoda they confirmed the mistake and said I will get a refund and some compensation which they are now refusing to pay. Would not recommend this company to anyone and they are currently being investigated by the fraud department

Booked a room for 2 nights, only to find no reservation

Booked a room for 2 nights in Jacksonville, FL through the Agoda website thinking it was a good deal, rather than just using Expedia like always. Well that turned out to be to good to be true, got to the hotel and they told me there was no reservation on their computer, even though the money had come out of my account and even showed the girl at the desk how it saved to my Google Calendar for 2 nights. Long story short had to step away from the desk and rebook through Expedia, that went through just fine, then the next day dispute the charge with my bank telling them that I made a mistake and may have used a scam site. O well lesson learned, use the big reservation sites from now on, Expedia, Priceline, etc.

AVOID - cancelled our booking a day and a half before we were due to arrive with no alternative provided. Then told us it could take up to 45 days to refund the money and if it was not refunded by then to get in contact again. A joke.

Mastercard, a global technology company in the payments industry, is expanding its partnership with Agoda, a digital travel platform headquartered in Singapore. The expanded partnership will enhance business-to-business (B2B) payments in the travel and tourism industry, addressing the challenges of legacy payment processes and driving innovation beyond traditional card payments, making it easier for digital travel platforms to make payments to hotels, airlines, suppliers and vendors globally.

The B2B payments landscape in the travel industry has historically lagged behind consumer payments, relying on manual and time-consuming processes such as paper invoices. Mastercard and Agoda recognize the urgent need to modernize these payment systems and streamline transactions between digital travel platforms, hotels, airlines, suppliers, and vendors globally.

Digital travel platforms account for approximately 40% of the global travel bookings, and are a vital growth engine for airlines, hotels, tour operators, railways, cruise lines and their other partners, according to the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). This partnership expansion comes at a crucial time when B2B payment needs in the tourism industry are soaring, and the collaboration between Agoda and Mastercard will play a pivotal role in driving this initiative forward.

Through the exclusive issuance of Mastercard virtual credit cards, Agoda will be able to make and receive B2B payments globally wherever Mastercard is accepted. The expanded partnership will also focus on driving smoother and smarter end-to-end travel experiences such as bringing timely and curated offers for Agoda customers using Mastercard’s data insights, joint-marketing propositions to further enhance customer satisfaction, and loyalty rewards when booking with Agoda using a Mastercard card.
