For a treat to the Chatham Lighthouse, you need an additional $75 for your group. However, you should carry your food and snacks aboard.

The Beachcomber Boat Tours offer seal watching tours and private harbor cruises in Pleasant Bay, with their boats located in Ryder’s Cove. You will enjoy the views between North Beach and Chatham Break.

3. Shark Shark Tuna Fishing Charters

Shark Shark Tuna is a fishing tour that takes place between late May to October. The tour starts from Neptune Lane in Yarmouth, and it accommodates up to 6 passengers a trip. You may fish Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Sea Bass, Sharks, Striped Bass, or Porgy.

People interested in deep-sea fishing and getting to experience the Cape Cod fishing grounds should book for this fun-filled tour. The tour is open for kids and adults.

You will experience deep sea fishing, kids fishing trips, sunset cruises, and overnight canyon trips on request.

You will enjoy seeing the bounty of Nantucket with clear skies, salt-filled air, incredible views, and rhythmic waves.

The Bay Spirit tour lasts from 90 minutes on the music cruise, 1-3 hours on the Bay Spirit and Bay Breeze. The tour starts at Hyannis and sails into Lewis Bay and Nantucket Sound. You will enjoy the cruise, sunset views, and live music.

This cruise tour is best suited for corporate outings and events, weddings, and parties solely based on the vessel you charter from their wide selection.

You can take a ride through Lewis Bay to view local lighthouses, do a leisurely cruise in scenic Hyannis harbor or opt for the 90 minutes sunset cruise with live music performance.

The Bay spirit charter costs $1175 an hour 50 minutes, $1450 for two hours, $1650 for 2 hours 50 minutes, and $1850 for 3 hours for a group of 1-24 people.

For a group of 25-49 people, it goes for $1475 an hour fifty minutes, $1750 for two hours, $2150 for two hours 50 minutes, and $2400 for three hours.

The cost includes a cruise, music, sunset, and your time with the crew and captain.

However, you will need to carry your food, drinks, and snacks. Alternatively, you can buy the ones sold at the cabin bar from liquor, soft drinks, and packaged snacks.

5. Whale Watch Dolphin fleet

Duration : 3-4 hours

Pricing : Starts from $65

The Whale Watch Dolphin fleet tour offers 3-4 hours of cruising, offering whale watch and sunset views. The tour starts at the MacMillan Pier , and it is only available during June, July, and August.

Whale Watch Dolphin fleet suits people interested in whales and marine life adventures. The trip has no age limit.

It will be a great way to learn a lot about marine life in Cape Cod waters.

You will enjoy a sunset cruise, whale watching, and marine life tours.

It costs $65 for adults, $55 for seniors above 62 years, $40 for children, and free for kids under 4 years old.Special rates are offered to first responders, the military, health care workers, and large groups.

This excursion is suitable for all age groups and highly beneficial for an educational experience on whales.

You will be able to see the Stellwagen marine sanctuary, spot humpback whales, finback whales, minke whales, the endangered right whales, and pilot whales.

The Bad Fish is a 36’ Harris Cuttyhunk, a classic Downeast design that has been cruising in the bays and shoals of New England for almost 100 years. The solid glass hull was laid up in Amesbury, MA, in 1979 and since then has been cruising the waters of the Northeast. After several owners and in need of extensive repairs, I purchased the boat in 2017 and began a much-needed restoration. Over the fall and winter and spring of 2017-18, I completely gutted the boat, raised the wheelhouse floor and roof, built and installed new walls and windows, replaced the tired engine with a 450 hp 74 series Volvo diesel engine, added state of the art electronics, and many more items to make the Bad fish a safe, seaworthy and outfitted charter boat. The rear of the boat (the cockpit) is bigger than most boats of similar size and provides passengers with ample room for fishing or leisure. I chose the name Bad Fish in tribute to the movie Jaws, the best movie ever made.

Greetings, and welcome to Wellfleet!

A word of introduction: I began POSTCARD HARBOR TOURS in 2010, with my 18-foot Marshall Sanderling catboat GALA VI.  After eleven successful years with her, I “moved up” and purchased my current vessel, the Marshall 22 catboat EPISTROPHY.  She is expanding the Wellfleet catboat experience with more room and even greater comfort and stability, for which catboats are justifiably renowned.

Among its other unique attributes, Wellfleet possesses one of the finest, most picturesque and most varied natural harbors on the Cape-and what better way to experience it than from the cockpit of a genuine Cape Cod-style Catboat, of the type which has plied these waters since around the time of the Civil War.

As far as is known, catboats-defined by their plumb bows, mast all the way forward with one sail, wide beam and sea-kindly nature-were developed in the Newport, R.I. area and quickly worked their way northeast to Cape Cod and the Islands, with their shape and design changing to meet local needs. They were a staple of the inshore fishing industry and, especially in this area, of the shellfish industry. With the advent of the internal combustion engine around 1902, local fishermen simply installed their favorite “one-lunger” and eventually got rid of the mast and sail. Some of their descendents (sans masts) were still in use into the post-WW-2 era, and I can remember seeing (and playing on) their bones in the mud of Duck Creek when I was a child. The traditionally-designed catboat says “Cape Cod” just as loudly as our lighthouses and salt-box cottages, and have been featured on postcards since tourism became popular.

Monomoy Island Excursion

Monomoy Island Excursions is a family owned and operated business in Harwich Port, Cape Cod, Massachussets. For over 10 years we’ve been taking people out to Monomoy , a barrier island and wildlife refuge off the coast of Chatham,MA, where thousands of seals have made their home.

While seals are the main attraction on our cruise, there is a lot more to see! We visit  Wychmere Harbor , in Harwich Port. This is one of the most scenic harbors on the Cape! We also stop in to  Stage Harbor  in Chatham, where you get a close up view of  Stage Harbor Lighthouse  and see   Chatham Lighthouse . Not to mention the combination of large yachts, small sailboats, and various fishing boats that fill each harbor. You get a real taste of the sea life on  Nantucket Sound .

We run seal cruises several times a day, generally lasting 1 1/2 hours. While we see lots of harbor seals and gray seals,  Monomoy  is also home to hundreds of species of birds and other wildlife. There is a trained naturalist on board who narrates the tour and can answer questions about the wildlife as well as the history of the island and the historic  Monomoy Lighthouse .

Private Cruise Cancellation Policy:

• Customers will receive a full refund with 7 days notice of cancellation. Cancellations within the 7 day window – but more than 48 hours before departure time – will be refunded 50% of the cruise price but not the booking fee. No-shows and cancellations made 48 hours or less before departure time will not receive any refund.
• Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation, prior to departure, due to inclement weather or other unanticipated circumstances. Cancellations will be made just prior to the cruise departure time at the sole discretion of the captain. Shortened cruises based on a change of weather will be refunded on a prorated basis.

For 2023 season, we take up to 6 passengers. We organize boat tours of about a 1.5 - hour duration.  Specializing in activities such as seal tours, whale watching, engagements, celebration of life or a specialty tour designed for you.  

Our Boat tours start in Orleans out of Town Cove.

All listed trips are 1.25 -  1.5  hours from dock to dock .

All tours are priced for 1 to 6 passengers in your party.

Sunset Cruise :  Relax and enjoy the scenery as we travel from Town Cove through Nauset Marsh toward the Atlantic Ocean to see a beautiful sunset.  Bring your own snacks and beverages (alcohol ok).

  1.25 hours $495.00

Seal tour: We head out Town Cove toward Nauset Inlet where there are sure to be many curious, playful seals bobbing up and down around the boat. They also enjoy resting on a nearby sand bar and we have been seeing small pups. Enjoy seeing the birds on the marsh and views of unspoiled beaches.

  1.25 hours $495.00  

Whale Watch:  We go through Nauset Inlet onto the Atlantic Ocean to a depth of about 100'  where the whales enjoy the cool water.  With or without a whale sighting, it is a rare treat to be out on the ocean enjoying the breeze and taking in the sights along the National Seashore - beautiful to see from the water!

Captain Jeff Spiegel has a USCG 100 ton  Master License.  He has been navigating Cape Cod waters for 30 years and is very knowledgeable about the area.  He is a commercial master diver.  He has been the Dive Supervisor for the Whydah Pirate Ship (sunk in 1717) for over 30 years.  He and first mate, Wendy, have plenty of folk lore to share.

About our vessel

Our vessel is a 2017 25' Boston Whaler Outrage.  Boston Whaler is known as the "unsinkable legend".  We are Coast Guard certified to carry 6 passengers along with the captain and first mate.  We have life vests for each passenger.  We are in compliance with the USCG drug/alcohol testing programs.  Equipped with Simrad radar/NAV/GPS/chart plotter.

Where to park & what to bring

Free parking by the Orleans Inn (3 Old Colony Rd., Orleans) in the Town parking lot.  The dock is immediately to the left of the Inn (not the Goose Hummock dock). Walk down the ramp to board. We will arrive at the dock by boat.

BRING:  Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen (apply before you board), jacket (even on a hot day!  It can be windy out there and much cooler on the ocean).

Snacks and beverages .  Alcohol ok. No large coolers allowed - soft personal size only.  

Do I need a reservation?  Yes!  We book one tour per day.  Our schedule is dependent on high tide so contact us for available dates/times.  No online booking.

What time should I arrive?  At your scheduled tour time.  

What forms of payment do you accept?  PayPal, credit cards & cash.  Credit card payments must be made prior to tour - online only.

Cancellation Policy:   Full refund if you cancel 48 hours prior to tour time.  If Captain has to cancel due to weather, you will receive a full refund.

Is there a toilet on board?  No, 

Mobility restrictions?  Must be able to walk down a ramp to a floating dock and board the vessel.

Young Cape Cod students learn what it takes to be sea captains aboard Hy-Line Cruise ferry

The engines revved and the boat surged forward as seven students crowded at the windows squealing with delight and watching the scenery go by.

On the first Friday of every month, the students at the Cape Cod Christian Academy get together for an out of school “Fun Day” activity.

Last Friday, the activity was a tour of the Vineyard Lady, one of the boats operated by Hy-Line Cruises in Hyannis , so students could learn what it takes to become a sea captain.

And as a special treat, Captain Mike Lambias took the students out for a short cruise.

The “Fun Day” outings are designed to be a time to connect with members of the school community, something to do together, said Dr. Tracy L. Waters, founder and head of the school.

It is a way to provide the students with some hands-on experiential learning while also establishing and building partnerships with and among parents, Waters said.

Sometimes the “Fun Day” outing might be as simple as packing up picnic lunches and going to the park for a few hours.

At other times, the school has gone to museums, such as the Air and Space Museum, where students were able to see an actual flight simulator.

Students have also gone to Taylor Bray Farm , the Museum of Natural History in Brewster , the Cape Cod Museum of Art and Plimouth Patuxet Museums .

Often the outings are designed to address specific student interests.

For example, one student dreamed of becoming an airline pilot, so Waters' husband Buster Waters — also co-founder of the school — took several students to the Chatham airport to show them what it is like to fly a plane. Buster Waters contacted his friend, Murray Scudder, business manager at Hy-Line Cruises, to arrange this most recent trip.

During the tour, Lambias explained that the Vineyard Lady is a catamaran with two keels and two separate diesel-powered engines.

One of the students noted that the anchors are used to stabilize the boat, whereupon Lambias told of a time that he went out in sunny, calm weather that turned into a violent storm and that he needed the anchors just for that purpose.

In the pilot house, he explained that it took him about five years to become a boat captain and that he started out as a captain’s mate and then captained sight-seeing boats before piloting the Vineyard Lady to and from Martha’s Vineyard five times a day.

He also showed the students the instruments he uses to navigate the boat and pointed out the GPS system.

“It works just like in a car,” he said. “I set it to my destination and then just follow the route. It’s just like a car, but on water.”

He showed the students the radar system and two of the boys immediately started asking questions and were quickly able to identify other boats and places along the shore.

“You can see other boats. And if I see these trails I can tell if the boat is moving,” Lambias explained.

He showed them the emergency radio system and explained why that was important when going out to sea.

Finally, the part all the students were wondering about came when Lambias announced he was taking the Vineyard Lady out.

Two best friends Dominic Delosantos and Alex Thonus crammed together at one window and were fascinated by watching people walking along the beaches on shore.

Dominic said he liked it when the boat went fast, but he also liked it when it slowed down so he could see the sights.

Alex said he really liked being in the pilot house.

At one point another boat passed going the opposite direction.

All of the students, and their parents too, ran from one side of the boat to the other to get a look.

At another point everyone went to the stern of the boat and watched the wake of the waves that the two propellers made.

Quinn Cavicchi, like most of the students, said his favorite part of the trip was going fast.

Marcela Ramos agreed, but added that she liked learning about the GPS.
