Carly Rae Jepson (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian pop singer-songwriter, best known for her 2013 smash hit single “Call Me Maybe”, hailing from Mission, British Columbia, Canada.

The singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepson made her first impression on the music industry competing in season five of “Canadian Idol” in 2007. Winning the hearts of judges and fans alike, Jepson placed third in the competition and subsequently embarked on the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour. Following the tour’s completion the singer returned to British Columbia to focus her energy on songwriting, recording and finding a backing band. Successful demos led to Jepson inking a deal with Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment, and the independent label MapleMusic Recordings.

After a move to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the singer released her debut single, the John Denver cover, “Sunshine on My Shoulder”, in June 2008. Subsequent singles “Bucket” and “Heavy Lifting” were issued on to her MySpace page ahead of the September 2008 release of her debut full-length “Tug of War”. In support of the album Jepson toured western Canada alongside Marianas Trench and Shiloh in early 2009, followed by a national tour with The New Cities and Mission District.

By this point Jepson’s appeal was growing and manager Jonathan Simkin signed her to his own label, 604 Records. Aided by Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s liberal tweeting about Jepson’s music after they heard it on the radio, the singer's international recognition skyrocketed. Jepson later signed with Bieber’s manager’s label School Boy Records along with Interscope Records, allowing for international distribution, and issued the EP “Curiosity” in 2012. Included on the EP was the smash hit “Call Me Maybe”, which topped the charts in over 15 countries, including in Canada where she became the first Canadian act to do so since Bieber and his song "Baby" in 2010.

The singer subsequently made her U.S. television debut on “The Ellen DeGeneras Show” before releasing her second full-length album “Kiss” in September 2012. Spawning the singles “Good Time”, “The Kiss”, and “Tonight I’m Getting Over You”, the album won two Juno Awards for Best Album of the Year and Best Pop Album of the Year. Following the release Jepson accompanied Justin Bieber on his Believe Tour before making her debut headlining tour, The Summer Kiss Tour, in 2013.

Live reviews

Carly Rae Jepsen writes and sings ‘pop star’ songs, but she couldn’t be more different than Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, or Taylor Swift on stage. Backed by a (more than competent) 4-piece band, she wore a blouse, denim cut-offs, leggings, and patent leather boots, while her black hair framed her face in a long pixie cut. I only mention her appearance because it did nothing to distract from the performance. Carly’s clothes and style are not a prop. She’s the girl next door…if the girl who lives next door has a voice that can reach the rafters. Simple lighting bathed her in rotating neon hues that favored pink and blue, while a simple diamond acted as the backdrop. Unlike so many big-budget pop shows, the focus was on the music. And the music held its own. The set opened, as the album does, with “Run Away with Me”, before the keyboardist put the sax away until the end. The Gothic has one of the best sound systems of any medium-sized venue in Colorado, so Carly’s vocals came through perfect in the mix. The ice in my drink rattled as bass reverberated through the venue during club bangers like “I Didn’t Just Come Hear to Dance”. And every chord was crisp during the acoustic rendition of “Curiosity”. Carly worked the crowd as well; touching those who begged to be touched, while journeying into the audience as far as she could without risking being mauled by rabid fans. - See more at: http://ilistensoyoudonthaveto.com/2016/03/06/carly-rae-jepsen-gothic-theatre-03-05-16/#sthash.wcpJ5hU0.dpuf

I've been a Carly Rae Jepsen fan ever since the spring of 2012 when her song Call Me Maybe got popular on YouTube and so did the music video.

I've been listening to her music ever since then but I didn't get a chance to meet Carly in person until January 2016 when she made an appearance Kelly Ripa's talk show on ABC for a television interview about the movie Grease Live (which she was what she was promoting at the time).

Fast forward to two years and 6 months later last month this past July, I got another opportunity to see Carly Rae Jepsen again but it was for this concert at Damrosch Park in Manhattan that just happened last night and it was INCREDIBLE !! I've seen Carly Rae Jepsen perform her music before at a concert but that was only on TV or on the internet, yesterday was my first time seeing her live and in person and she didn't disappoint. She performed three of my favorite songs that came out recently like "Run Away With Me" "I Really Like You" and "Cut To The Feeling" and I already loved these songs when I first heard the studio versions of them but they were much better in person because they were all played on an acoustic guitar which is the only difference between that and studio recordings but nevertheless, I enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend this for fellow Carly Rae Jepsen fans who don't like the chance to see her sing live in person like I did. And to Carly Rae Jepsen herself you probably won't ever read this but if do ... THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!

‘Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my number, call me maybe.’ Anyone who left the house in 2012 couldn’t have missed this chorus. Every mainstream radio station and nightclub in the land was blasting Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop hit. The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards and became the first official number one of the Official Streaming Chart. But what is it like seeing a one hit wonder in concert?

Well actually, Carly Rae Jepson has released two studio albums and an EP, and so has plenty of material to fill a gig. The Canadian is famed for her teen pop and dance pop style. However, she actually has a history as an acoustic singer-songwriter and cites Van Morrison as one of her influences. So Carly Rae Jepsen injects variation into her sets. Nor is ‘Call Me Maybe’ her only pop tune. The songstress gives polished performances of dance tracks like ‘Tonight I’m Getting Over You.’ The heavy club beat soon gets the whole crowd jumping.

Of course, the highlight of any Carly Rae Jepsen set is the much-awaited ‘Call Me Maybe.’ Like any experienced performer, she saves the popular until last. When the familiar intro finally kicks in the crowd goes wild. Everyone lets loose and dances to the cheesey lyrics like no one is watching.

I really really really really really really like Carly Rae Jepsen's live show. During a time when American teen stars seem to be arriving daily with new takes on the pop genre, Carly manages to stand apart mainly through the strength of her personality. Although Ariana Grande and Demi Levato may be able to vocally outdo Jepsen, their live shows are considered to be rather robotic having pushed the choreography too far and applied just one too many coats of shimmering gloss.

Whereas although Carly's show is considered and does feature the likes of lush stage decoration and dance routines, but strip that all away and you find a singer who is simply enjoying entertaining her fanbase. The crowds respond well to the personable way in which she interacts with them, chatting on a one to one basis with certain members and making sure they are all in high spirits before unleashing favourites including 'Tonight I’m Getting Over You' as well as mega-hit 'Call Me Maybe' which is sang along at levels that could break noise pollution barriers.

she was dope af like bruhhh omg. her live is wayy better than the digital or vinyl album which is saying a lott for a popstar ya feel me. i did the meet and greet thing she was an adorable lil mf. super sweet to her fans but wasnt a fake hoe namsain. just like straight up responses i can fuck with that. i mean even the picture i took with her was like ye man this is how celebs are spost 2 act ya feel me no bs just like fans and artist fuckn with eachother. and like the crowd in pvd was pre trash for the most part (except for some dope niggas and hoes ok) and she still rocked it like fuckkk bruh shit was so unreal idek how she did it. and like a tiny ass venue too usually popstars like her need a bigass stadium and shit to get the crowd rockin but nahh man she was just like yo imma still fuck it up. interacted with the crowd too for the most part which was chill like i was fuckn with it. so yeah i mean crj bruh best ever goddamn

This kind of was a whim purchase for me. I had been hearing this hype about her recent album for months and when I did take a listen I understood. I also had no idea this concert would be around 4 hours. We waited in line at Wonder Ballroom for 20 minutes, and the opening acts took around an hour and a half. The opening acts were not the greatest, one of them was pretty aggressively trying to be obnoxiously edgy. However, at around 9:20 Carly came on and the real show started. Her vocals were fantastic and she essentially sang every song from her album and quite a handful from her old album.

Second time seeing her and she keeps knocking it out of the park (but are you even surprised?). I really enjoyed the venue at Humphreys as the weather was perfect and I didn't have to deal with all of the heat/crowds/smoke of indoor venues. CRJ played almost all of the Dedicated album (maybe with the exception of 2-3 songs), and played some iconic tracks from Emotion and even Emotion Side B. What's a CRJ concert without her summoning up the strength to perform Call Me Maybe and Store? She had great energy, sounded fantastic, and gave us some costume changes.

Went to her Charlotte show, and it was phenomenal! She was a lot shorter than I expected (lol) but she had such a strong and powerful singing voice, and man, she can sing! I would HIGHLY recommend getting the VIP ticket — it's pretty cheap, and you get to meet the wonderful person that is CRJ. She is so friendly and lovely, she takes pictures with and signs stuff for fans, and she's a very down-to-earth person who's amazing to talk to (she swears a lot too). Really good atmosphere, really great performance, and just a fantastic experience in general.

Carly Rae is a charismatic, talented, sexy, sweet, smart QUEEN! She was so good at interacting with the crowd, and you could tell she was feeding off everyone's energy and giving it back. The setlist was perfect, and she transitioned between songs with cute lines like, "It's okay when you have Boy Problems, because you can just have a Party for One!" Her outfits were awesome; she interacted so nicely with her band, and the confetti at the end ruled.

When I went to her concert in Anaheim, she gave it her all making it the best night of my life...it is so fun to be there. If you listened to her latest album and loved it and/or are familiar with her big hits, then you should definitely go because it will be a lot of fun. To be honest, I wish I could revisit that experience right now...so go.
